Hi all,
I love having Sense on my Leo.
However with the most recent HTC Official Stock Rom as well as with Artemis ROM v.30 or recent cooked roms (Dutty creme de la creme V8, Energy Aug 2221914 2367 Sense 2018, Miri_Steve0007_Elegancia_V2.0_FINAL for instance, tried them all) , my HTC HD2 freezes.
Slider on unlock screen frozen, then if I am lucky enough to unlock frozen screen only the hard buttons work or touch screen works erratically.
If I disable Sense (settings, Today, Items) no more problem but I am stuck with the default ugly WinMO 6.5 screen)
For information, I had no problems for instance with Artemis v.13
What gives? Any way to keep Sense (is the issue due to version 2018 of Sense?) without freezing? Can I install any ram cleaner or tweak or anything on top of Artemis?
In short, is there any way I can solve that problem without disabling sense?
Thanks! Pierre.
most freezing issues are fixed by:
formatting sd card
doing a hard reset - settings -> security -> factory reset
doing a task 29 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=644781
Hi,
I'm having the same kind of freezes after unlocking my phone.
After unlocking the manila start screen does not appear but it is possible to go to the start menu by pressing the button. The manila.exe process is at 100% during the freeze.
I have this problem withe the last Energy ROM and also with the Artemis ROM v28.
In the newest Energy Rom the document tab was deleted because of stability issues and freezes. Maybe this build is working. Have to test it ...
PS: I always did a task29 before flashing
I have the same problems on Dutty's v8. I thought the problem would be gone after upgrdaing my HSPL, but no luck yet...
I'm having the same kind of freezes ... If I stop automatic mail check and stop automatic weather update then phone is working fine without freezes. I am in stock ROM with many programs installed.
helpp!!!
i am having similar sort of issue with my HD2
been using mine for about a month and today the home screen or sense deiced to freeze, restarted device same thing, did a soft reset, no change, then i did two hard resets and it is still after a minute or two freezing up!! i can still access the main menu by using the hard keys but no home screen or sense, its frozen!! what can i do!!?? was working fine til today!! the phones only a month old!!! im so angry right now!
I have narrowed the problem down to Co0ckie's Home tab. I got sick and tired of the freezes yesterday so I decided to start with a blank rom and see if the problem persists. So I reflashed Dutty's V8 and after half a day: no problem.
The first thing I installed was CHT and voila: direct stalls. After removing CHT the problem was gone.

I seem to be having a problem with all of the WM6.5 Polaris ROMs. Hoping someone can help!
I first noticed the issue with Gullum's Rom, though it is still present with Belial's and Pcarvalho's
Basically soft-reset doesn't work. It will result in a hard-reset almost always. It doesn't matter if i use the soft reset pinhole or whether i use a program on the Polaris to soft-reset the device; the result is always the same - a hard reset.
In all circumstances I flashed the rom, waited until the screen alignment, hard reset (on purpose), then configured the phone.
Originally I thought the issue was because of pimbackup getting stuck sometimes and me resetting during that but it seems that even if I do not use PIM backup the phone will still hard reset it self.
The only thing that I can see being common is that the roms are all WM6.5 and all build 23016. When I downgrade to 3LIT3III (WM6.1 rom) the problem seems to go away - though I would prefer the 6.5 roms.
My phone has been flashed lots of times over the past 18 months and maybe something weird has happened. My next steps are to reflash the latest official HTC ROM in the hopes that fixes any weird things my phone might have before I try again.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate them!
Thanks,
Dom

Hi, I've done that and so far it all appears stable... but I'm worried that by saying this I've now jinxed myself
Thank you for your suggestion! If only 'Microsoft My Phone' could restore text messages faster than 1 every 3 seconds... 3500 to go!

Exactly the same for me. Have tested the "[10 Aug] WM23016_MEGAPACK_ByBelial_BETA, "[Aug 14] PDAVIET ROM WM6.5 Manila 2D (Core 21840) by TranMinhMan" and"pcarvalho eXtreme ROM 3.19 WM6.5 OS 5.2.23009" and all of them was very unstable with 3 to 5 HR pr day.
Then flash to 3LIT3III (WM6.1 rom) and it vent solid as a rock.
I'l test flashing back to original before installing 6.5 again. Thanks for the tip.
I've noticed the same problem too and this tip fixed it (so far). My sequence of flashing is slightly different but the usual suspects were all there. My question is, is it always better to flash original HTC ROM first before flashing a new cooked ROM? Or will it make no difference?

its always better as you will flash a rom to a standard rom...every device has/had an original rom to start with...so all settings are...reset
For sure
After a couple of days usage now the phone has not hard reset itself at all - which is awesome - as is your ROM (I'm using the non-3D 23106 build of yours and haven't noticed any issues that a 'soft' reset doesn't resolve )

Pcarvalho's suggestion of flashing an original HTC rom is perfect - works well.
Hi, I've been having some issues with HTC Sense on the Leo i bought a couple of weeks ago, Although this was fine at first this is now crashing every-time i try and use the quick link tabs. Occasionally this fails to restart altogether and displays; cannot re-start HTC Sense, click here to continue. The only way to re-start Sense at this point is a soft reset. The handset is suffering from regular freezing issues and black screen problems.
I was using the Axlor 6.1 ROM with the radio Radio 2.07.50.27_2. I tried a hard re-set but the problem persisted. I've flashing the Artemis 4.0 ROM and flashing to a different radio 2.08.50.08 however the problem persists with the new ROMS and radio I've tried. I've flashed back to Axlor at the moment. I've done some searches without any definitive answer. Anyone any ideas why this might be happening?
If you have flashed several different roms and are getting instability go have a read of the mtty thread
Will have a look at the MTTY, thanks for the advice.
Edit, handset has completely packed in, it boots to the home screen and then freezes. A bit worrying.

I am not liking these reports, this was my problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634347
I get a new one tomorrow, i'm nervous about it being another dudd
Hello all o/
I recently installed EnergyROM on HD2 in order to get some enhancements in interface, and everything works perfect, except that sometimes my HD2 blocks any kind of input, and it happens totally randomly. Left 3/4 of my touchscreen wont respond, so basically only part of screen that reponds to touch is right 1/4. I beleive this is not software problem, as it blocks exactly when I use dialer to call someone (+ blocks that happen randomlly). Phone usually unblocks by itself after 5-10 mins or after soft reset.
I have tried installing different version of NRG ROMs, tried even flashing back to original HTC rom, still same problem. So I though "it may be radio rom thats causing this?", so tried installing different versions of radio ROM aswell, but it didnt helped.
I have HSPL 2.08 and I am flashing in this order:
1. Flash with Task29
2. Flash ROM
3. Hard reset
4. Boot
Did anyone experienced similar problems, and if so, is there solution for this ?
Thanks in advance!
Can anyone tell me if this will wipe any updates etc that have been done to the phone by the phone company?
my phone forgot the lock code so i had to do a hard reset, since then the phone has been freezing quite often, mainly when sending/recieving texts if you change the orientation while typing.
at the moment its either wait 2 minutes for it to sort itself out or just restart sense which is now becoming annoying.
any help appreciated
it also wont play the h.264 recordings i have made on the phone, i just get a black screen that says loading :/
well i have figured out it is definately related to the orientaion of the phone, i cannot turn the phone on its side when sending texts or using the web browsers or it will just lock up or slow to a crawl.
p.s. somone just please reply so i know i aint getting ignored cos my posts seem to be lol
Hmmmm...
Is the issue only occuring since you performed the hard reset and not before?
Have you tried reinstalling any updates you had before the reset?
Do you have a lot of msg's in your inbox?
updates are usually stored in root of phone
have you installed any new cabs or roms ??
if you've not installed anything new another hard reset may be in order just to re-syncronize phone
only help I can give at mo

Yeah it will. it is like doing a windows system restore using the restore discs that came with your pc. Personally i would look at updating to a newer rom if you haven't already got a 1.66 or 1.72 based stock rom. You could always look at a custom rom. I use energy 23569 and i haven't had any problems with it. Also the energy roms include a newer version of sense that is included with the new TMOUS roms and it appears to be less buggy
thanks for the replies guys,
it was fine before the reset but it did slow a little in landscape mode but nothing anywhere near what its like now, key presses had a slight delay and now they are like a 5 second delay....portrait mode is perfect.
i always delete messages so my inbox is empty, i never applied any updates prior to the reset, i assumed virgin did it all for me.
i have only installed a few tweaks but the main change is bsb tweaks, i'm now using the latest version where as i was using the prior version before the hard reset but this has only started happening about a week after i installed it.
rom version is 1.66.351.1 (76641) WWE
rom date 03/03/10
manilla version 2.5.19211619.0
OS version 5.2.21869
radio version 2.07.51.22_2
i want to use a custom rom or atleast update to newer one but how will i put it back to the stock rom? the phone has some locked items from virgin installed, they will know if those are not there.
No they won't. Just say you removed them by hand because they were of no purpose to you.
If you install a custom rom on your unbranded, unlocked (the phone virgin supplied you is exactly the same as what you would pay for standalone except for the software extras) Leo it will be easy to install a stock rom. just flash it and then remove HSPL3 in favour of the stock spl (1.42 i think).
Your manilla/sense version is actually very old. There are newer versions about (2015 and 2016) that have been developed for the TMOUS devices but as HTC neglect the UK we haven;t been given the officially yet but most of the new custom roms include them.
If you do stay stock try installing LeoCPUSpeed V4 and chainfire's 3D Driver Patch V2. They will improve the speed of the phone in general and you may find the typing lag goes away completely
I have been searching all over for answers, but have not found any solid solutions. There was another case similar to mine, HERE but I really don't think things are quite the same. I am new to flashing with HD2, but am very seasoned with the Samsung Vibrant.
I had the phone app crashing and robot voice for a while. I have done all of the supposed fixes but nothing has worked yet. I bought my HD2 second hand, (like the big screen and more RAM better than on my TMO vibrant), but when I got it it was in great condition, completely stock. So I wanted to put android on it because MinMo is (for my concerns) unusable. SO, here is what I have done.
Started with a TMO(US) HD2 Stock
-Flashed New Radio from 2.14.50.02 to 2.15.50.14
-Flashed HD2O WM 6.5 ROM (Phone Worked fine, but decided WinMo sucks)
-Flashed MagLDR
-Flashed CWM
-FLashed BOYPPC SHIFT PDA sense&HOneycomb (FAST!)
But then whenever I tried to make phone calls I get the robot voice and three seconds later, crash. (the process phone in com.android.phone is not responding...)
-The first fix I tried was HERE for the Low volume fix. No Dice...
-Then I Tried this Volume Fix HERE, but did not fix problem.
-I tried disabling the contact sync, seen in another thread, and still nothing.
-Went into Rom Manager, Flashed Clockwork recovery, then used it to "fix Permissions"
-During the permission fixing, I received a normal clear phone call with no FC.
-Then after call it said that it was done with permissions, and asked me to restart.
-After the reboot it would just constantly Force Close every five seconds, and it was not showing any network signal.
So Then I:
-Flashed a new Radio. -2.06.50.04 -TMO US
-Still Not working
-Went back to the MAGLDR and did an AD Hardreset, and tried flashing HYPERDROID.
-Still nothing.
-Reset again and Reflashed BOYPPC SHIFT, (liked it better, I know, a lot of flashes...)
-Now getting network signal, and able to get into the phone program, but as soon as I try to make a call, same problems occur with Robovoice and FC.
Sorry so thorough, but I always feel like more info is better than too little!
I had looked at another thread that said something about wearing out the radio from flashing, but on my vibrant I have flashed over 30 ROMs and 10 or more Kernals, and it still works good, so, I dunno. Kinda stuck.
Got my finger ready for the thanks button for ANY help offered.
Also noticed that now, no sounds are playing at all. Speaker driver error? It worked ok the first time I loaded this rom.
Just installed CMYLXGO's Desire Rom Yesterday and the phone works.
Now running CMY's gingersense streak, which is also a Sense ROM, and it works too. Is there any reason that anyone can think of as to why my phone will only work with sense themes?
i'm having a very similar issue.... i've tried a few roms and i get the same thing. calls go out for a few sec then force close. ppl tell me they can't call me sometimes because of this. i even task 29'd and reflashed everything. radio, magldr, cwm and now hyperdroids latest... still get force close and an unusable phone....
wtf
2.15.50.14
The above is the recommended radio that was a good start. Now the next thing to go under settings --> sound --> Feedback. I forget which one it is that causes the phone to crash/give robot voice but that is most likely what is causing the issue for you guys. I believe non sense builds also have these options if I recall correctly. I use sense builds myself. Also be sure to restart phone after you uncheck the settings under feedback. Phone should work after that and no robot voice.
I dont have robot voice and i'm running that radio. hyperdroid was running fine until recently and i have this problem. i can't get calls it causes the phone app to crash and sometimes calls crash a little bit in.... i've task 29'd and redone a clean install with old known working hyperdroid WITH NOTHING INSTALLED still does it, tried new hyperdroid; same thing...

you can try cyanogenmod and miui by starting over again but remember to do task29 to be sure that you dont leave any traces of previous installations !
!!
good luck and regards !! !
