[VIDEO] CM6 in action on Slide (with overclock) - myTouch 3G Slide General

Hey guys, this quick vid is a rundown on CM 6 on the Mytouch 3G Slide along with Overlock. I do not take credit for the ROM, Kernal, or Overclock profiles.
PART 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxwCsxh2zgw
PART 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJ8sZeNdFig
*CM6 for Mytouch Slide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755118
*Dumfuq's OverClock Kernal : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745805
Note: I used the 806 kernal, not the version 1,2 or 3.
*And TJD319's post on his overclock profile : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7783531&postcount=5
Very Big thanks to all those guys, CM team, Dumfuq, TJD319 and XDA forums.
This is not a tutorial, links provided are just a source to view. Any questions feel free to ask, I will try to answer as best as I can. Thank you.

You know what, compared to the other moron's who have posted today you are genius.

Wow, that was a bit of a bump, eh?
You're probably gonna have to use the search function on this one.
How'd you dig this up anyways? And as an afterthought, I probably should have just let this sink back down.

Any Overclocked ROM with Camera??

Just curious, as that is why I am not putting the latest FreshToast v1 on my phone - I use the camera every day...
So, are there any overclocked ROMs with the camera?? That would be great!

OK, so I am supposed to read 10,000 pages of random comments about the custom ROMs instead of asking?
I have searched by the way, and found no definitive answer. If it's obvious and you know the answer, why not post "no" or "yes" instead of the wise-ass reply?
And if the answer is not obvious - well, that's why I posed the question.

WOW! That must be new.... there is a search on here?
putting it simply, if there was an overclocked rom with working camera, everyone would copy that and have the same thing. then it would be easy to find one. did you see any roms on the front page with working camera and overclock?
ill hijack this thread...id like to see a stable 2.1 rom with everything working but stripped of sense totally, can it happen?
Only if you run a 1.5 rom.
I released a modified boot.img and wlan.ko that you can patch gumbo 1.5c rom with.
you can find it here http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-hero-roms-hacks/10138-gumbo-1-5c-overclock.html
I made it for my own personal use and just put it out there for anyone who might want it. All I did was apply the patch to the boot.img from gumbo 1.5c tweaker edition then flashed it to my phone. I was already running gumbo 1.5c tweaker edition so it has only been tested to work flashed over that.
It most likely would flash just fine over any 1.5 rom, but it will add gumbos custom low memory killer and a script that modifies the cpu scaling. If you use it you can't use setcpu. The rom already does what setcpu does.
If you do want it, flash at your own risk, and make sure to backup first.
I could release an overclocked 1.5 kernel that does not use gumbo, or is based off another rom if there is any demand for it, but I think with 2.1 around the corner, and so many almost fully functional 2.1 roms out there, the only people that would even be interested are those who can't run a 2.1 rom due to audio loss issues. that is not too many.
I heard the iAndroid 4G was found left in a bar incognito... I want one!

id buy a "cough" iphone if it were running a fully working port of android.
no, it won't happen till htc releases the .29 kernel source. though you could overclock and have it on 1.5 working, i'm pretty sure.
and for you guys who keep telling him to search, at least give him an answer. i understand how anoying it is to see all these threads... but really. at least still help out.

im pretty sure pancake 1.5 is already tweaked with gbhil's custom kernel. you can also use autokiller on extreme mode and make that rom fly!
im running it and i love it, best rom ive used so far.

I compiled the oc patch into a 1.5 boot.img based off of gumbo 1.5c tweaker. Post #9 in this thread!
I am getting similar benchmarks as a OC 2.1 rom w/o JIT.
3.1 MFLOPS on linpack
28-29 fps on neocore not killing any tasks
6535 ms on benchmark Pi.
Stock 1.5 rom was
26 fps with all tasks killed
2.36 MFLOPs linpack
10635 ms benchmark pi
Thanks for the info obelisk, justin and obchaos.
Now, was that so hard? ;-)
For the rest of you, just because the search function does not yield an answer does not mean the answer is not out there, now does it?
I had better not see any of you ever posting a question on here ;-)
In any case, I remember 2.1 did not have the camera working for a while, then someone fixed it, right? So it seems that this is not a crazy question to ask.

[Kernel] 2.6.29 For Aosp | Multitouch, OverClock, BFS, EXT4

Hey guys, so ya, i'm back. Ya i know some of you don't like me from before with whatever bashing i have done, but i have come to ammend for myself. well anyways i compiled a working kernel (yes, it works. Teamandirc tested it for me). this has wifi, Multitouch, Overclocked at 768 mhz (defaults at 710, push it up with OC widget for 768mhz), Brain f*ck scheduler, and ext4 support.
Have fun with this everyone. And sorry for whatever animosity i have stirred previously. i hope this amends for it. This should work, as i said before, teamandirc tested it for me

Note, some people have mixed experiences, so be sure to make a nandroid just in case

Great work darchstar! This has been a team effort and hopefully can show that developers can work outside the borders of their own device's forum. I am quite grateful for the several hours you spent developing this and am sure it will be used in many roms to come.
Great work! Loading up now

what what ive heard it looks like its working for some and not for others.
has nothing to do with your rom, more ot do with hardware
Every time I put my phone to sleep... it defaults back to 480. Have to go back into setcpu and move the slider to get it working again. I think this V8 is a good start, but it definitely needs some polishing.

this is an AOSP kernel, so i do not believe it will work for any sense based roms like Ivans ...... this is meant for roms like senseless, cyanogenEris and white widow
I maybe wrong, and if I am I am sure someone will correct me
Just tried to flash over Senseless and it booted but then wouldn't work past lock screen. Touch screen stopped working at lock screen and I had to abort. Trying again to see if it was user error...
*Tried to reflash over Framework's Senseless again and had same thing happen. Booted up, got to lock screen, but then all touch control was gone. Bottom row buttons and screen.
Thanks again for your efforts Darch. It's awesome to see hero devs helping out.
works great on cyanogen eris, i get a 4.8 in linpack. only thing is setcpu wont auto detect, i tried a couple different ones that worked before, and no auto detect option.
Thanks Darch. You devs never cease to amaze me!!!
No go for me on frames cyan beta. Phone boots but gets stuck at lock screen.
Darch,
I'm going to give this a test drive with CE and post back with result along with logcat perhaps that will help? can you tell me which ROM TeamAndirc use for testing?
didnt work for me, on CE, got to lockscreen screen wouldnt work soft keys wouldnt work either

I am bored and I want to root my desire.... BUT?

what i've seen so far are other way round, that is rooting could make you unable to get OTA updates..

this is quite OT, but I was wondering how come DHDs overclocked to 1.5Ghz can achieve 3k+ Quadrant scores but the G2 needs to be OCed to 1.8 or 1.9Ghz to achieve similar scores? The extra RAM of the DHD makes so much difference?
Well its a different processor, not just lower clocked.
I dont know the specs off the top of my head but i would guess it has smaller caches. That does make a difference. I doubt ram comes into it for most of the benchmarks.

I just wanted to try the phone for myself, lol
so for me, it all comes down to 2g vs 3g.... dhd is better has down, for many things and reasons..... but the 2g vs 3g is causing me turmoil... oh well, once I root and see the goodness... maybe it will be a much easier decision

Not going to lie, I had NO idea what I was doing... but I think I just stumbled through it all.....
are the kernels dangerous.... how can I test/check to see if it is worthwhile.... will they drain the battery even more so? thx
Depending what kernel and what clock speed you set, you should be able to underclock to around 700 +/- mhz and not have any noticeable slow downs.
Just make sure you set a lower speed when your screen is off and you battery will last upwards of 24 hours.
thx, I just that 1.51 one for now.... seems to be working well, I put a profile in for screen off.... dropping it to 256-756 or whatever it is! did some light benching, angry birds, no lag or issues so far.... woke up and the phone is still alive, lol
thx

[kernel] gingerbread sense WANTED will donate to make happen.

Recently htc released the source code to make it possible for gingerbread sense kernels. I am trying to push the development community by offering a small donation to push it to happen. I would also like to extend this help with other xda members that would help donate to make it happen. I know. I wish they would open up applications again. I think I help out and contribute enough, but you never know with XDA. Lol. Even more that you and Nils were denied recognized developer status which is such a shame. I would be happy to help moderate in any forum, but the DInc and Eris forums are my home. I ran Synergy for a while.... loved the ROM... but yeah, I'm one of the few who actually uses the multitouch (play a ton of Genesis and GBA on my phone). GPU + made a huge difference for 3d graphics framerates, smartass was a noticeable increase in battery life. On my custom Froyo ROM with incredikernel, the phone is rock solid stable, fast, smooth, everything works, and I can go WEEKS without a freeze, lock up, reboot, battery pull, etc.....
I don't feel like I'm missing out THAT badly, but, yeah once a custom kernel that does all that comes out, Synergy ROM here I come.

Thanks.
What I love about this place is that every question I'm about to ask has already been answered by some enterprising person on here.
But yet you didn't even hit his thanks button.
Thanks are about as important as Quadrant scores but after a post like that it kind of made me laugh a bit.
Can you bench the official CM9 lastest nightly?
Thanks

Yeah I agree. There are lots of things not considered here such as kernel and cpu clock speeds and such. I was just bored and thought someone out there might find it interesting to see some "out-of-the-box" (so to speak) scores.

Sure, give me a link and I'll give it a whirl.
That wasn't meant for you. I appreciate your initiative in all that entail flashing all these ROMs. It was more for the guy above me showing his undying gratitiude for your efforts, but didn't even have the courtesy to hit your thanks.
Might also want to put a Stock scrore in there too. Just so someone who isn't rooted knows how their stock ROMs compete against custom ROMs. Noobs love Quadrant scores.
great info
Nice job sort of data that is use full to us people to lazy / busy to try out each rom
+1 for stock score

People nagging about not using the Thanks button is just about the lamest thing here on xda.... Even more lamer is people begging for Thanks in their signatures.
Thanks.

Wasn't a nag, it was just kind of funny that he expounded so much for OPs efforts but didn't even hit his thanks button. It is about courtesy not numbers.
And I agree about the solicitation of thanks in the signature. When I first came to XDA, I did it but realized that I could actually put something useful in my sig instead.
It's nice, but the best 3D power i have in Codename Android v1.5.0

I did receive some emails during the test, didnt reboot or anything before hand.
So it looks like from the post above mine the team EOS rom is "about" 13.5% faster.
Decent performance increase.
