I am based in South Africa, and connected to Service Provider MTN Cellular. My XDA2 is working fine except for MMS. I have been onto the technical people at MTN, and with their settings provided, I still cannot get MMS to work.
I have created a GPRS connected under My Work Place, which connects to the GPRS service, but when trying to send or receive a MMS the "yellow box with green arrow" shows and advises "sending or receiving", but the MMS does not get sent or received.
I have setup the server name, gateway and http address in the MMS Composer, as per the settings given to my by MTN, but no joy !!!!!!!!
If anyone knows MTN in South Africa and how to setup MMS, please advise. My hair has gone grey over this >>>>>>>>>>>
Thank you
Ok so i spoke to HTC today and told them I could only send MMS to other TMO customers..not ATT or Verizon. The woman told me to change my APN settings..which i did and they did nothing....But!, she insisted that I should not be having that problem and that all MMS should be going to who I send them.
Also today I stopped in my local TMO store and explained my problem and they said they could not help me and because its not a TMO phone they cant guarantee that MMS will work..they really said that. I explained when I had my Iphone I was able to send and receive but they insisted they couldnt help me.
Im on at&t and i can get mms, but i cant send them, tried to put in the att apn settings and i still cant send them.
Any person that uses att on the nexus have them working?
thanks
I'm on T-Mobile haven't messed with any settings, but I've been able to send and receive picture messages from my friends who are on AT&T. Was also able to send out to someone with Cricket. Not sure if this helps any.
sounds like a network issue, T-Mobile may need to do a trouble ticket for you to investigate the issue.
mms issues
I have worked with all of the big 4 U.S. cell carriers in the last couple of years.
If mms is working within your network (in this case tmobile to tmobile) but not to other networks it is usually because the two networks are not set up to handle mms messages exactly the same way. If one network sends the mms at a file size that is too large for the other network, then the message will not go through most times.
It seems like there is an issue with the N1 not resizing pictures for mms. Most phones downsize the resolution to transmit the mms under the network size limits (usually between 300-500kb). If the N1 is not resizing the file it is likely that the mms will not go through.
The easiest way to determine if your mms settings are correct on your phone is to send yourself a mms, if you receive the mms correctly then your network settings are correct.
The issue you describe sounds like a problem with one network handing off the mms to the other network. There is probably nothing T-Mobile can do about it. Call technical support and file a trouble ticket anyway and have the people who you are trying to send the mms to call their service providers and do the same thing.

Hi all,
I'm running out of things to try to get my internet working. Hopefully you can tell me where to look for more info, because right now it could be anything (broken phone?)
Here's what I've got:
- Meizu M9 android phone with (newest) 15318 firmware
- vodafone NL sim card, used with internet with HTC Magic for almost 2 years
- I can call, receive SMS, etc, but there is no internet (2G nor 3G)
- I've set up an APN with the following: live.vodafone.com, vodafone, vodafone
- I've tried setting the proxy to 192.168.251.150:8799
- I've tried both PAP and CHAP
- In the info menu (*#*#4636#*#*) it says GSM connected, GPRS disconnected or connecting. When it says disconnected, the 'GSM Disconnects' thing says 'fail due to Unknown Data Error'. I ran into a piece of code which lists all the errors. This is the default error, when it doesn't know what else it is.
I can't tell if this is a firmware, APN or hardware problem. Has anyone got any ideas?
i think it's apn or firmware. because if it would be hardware problem, then calls and sms wouldn't work either, but i'm not sure. try a hard reset (make sure you backup your data first) or find another apn settings. my carrier also has problems with apn. oh wait. another question. can you receive or send mms?
Hi everyone
I never really noticed til today, that I cant send or receive mms. My e900 is vodafone branded but unlocked on t-mobile uk.
I can access mobile internet but whenever i try to send or open an mms I get error. try again message.
Any ideas?
I ran network setup but still doesnt work.
Thanks
