Light sensor is now working.. but! we don't know the password ^^
Anyway, it's nice to see updates and nice to know that Cotulla is still working.
I'm eager for the big update in September.

Thought I'd give it a shot and, no, "no password" is not the password.

so any way to get password?

I have a question, what is an ambient light sensor? What does it do/used for?
Please refrain from saying something like "it's a sensor for the light."

pass
very very LOL

It sensors the ambient illumination.

This is needed so that android can auto-adjust the brightness of the backlight, so when you are indoors the brightness is reduced and when you are outside it is increased.

which means? What is ambient illumination? From what I understand, ambient light sensor is only used for a specific setting, that setting being "automatically adjust backlight." By using this setting, the ambient light sensor will detect how much light is currently being reflected onto the screen to optimize the backlight. Is this somewhat correct?

Jason, that's exactly correct.

i have a question: how is the light sensor related to the proximity sensor ?
because i tought the proximity sensor also works with light, i guess i was wrong there ?

I thought it already had it in the settings for backlight control, or is that something else?

Thank you buddy

There's a password on it cause the Dev's aren't finished testing it yet. We'll get it when it's ready. Patience young ones.

Is pretty much spot on, as far as i know.
Detects how much light is on the screen and dims/brightens accordingly. Which can be a huge battery saver since, when indoors (most of the time) it dims it to minimum.
edit: Jesus you guys are fast....

The first thing I do is turn off automatic brightness anyway so this isn't something I'd use.

Blackstone Front Light/Led

Hello every B,
i would like your feedback to know if your Front-top Led/Light is working?
The Led/Light just near the Top-speaker phone.
because i don't see this Light Flashing.
Thank for your Fdbck.
What LED? The only LED on the device is in the power button.
In the front top, right of the speaker it's the secondary camera.
There is no light on the front as far as im aware.
The small clear plastic next to the speaker is the light sensor i believe.
ahh
this would be the light sensor?

Obviously not!! The number of repeat questions on these forums prove that people don't abide by the rules and check first.
Regarding to the "Getting Started" we ALL recieved with our HD it IS the Light-Sensor
see Page 25 => http://mikechannon.net/PDF Manuals/HTC_Touch_HD_User_Manual_English.pdf
have we all established its the light sensor????

Screen brightness possible fault

When using my HD2, occasionally the screen willl go a little brighter momentarily. This is with no change in position or lighting. Does anyone else's do this?
No. But are you sure there is no change of light? Maybe you didn't notice the change but the ambient light sensor did .
May be your eyes got disturbed by always looking at the HD2 screen for any possible bugs?
I have noticed the same behavior! And there was no change of the ambient light.

It may change by the moving your hand or somebody/something moving near the phone as the shade falling on the phone sensor may affect.

No, it's clear as a punch in the face.
same problem here.... don't know why
hey that happens in my iPod Touch 2g also, sometimes the light senson will detect more light (???) in the same room which it has been there for last few hours and become brighter...
guess it's not much of anything, just a confused light sensor...

Phone feature

That would be the proximity sensor on the front next to the ambient light sensor.

Adaptive brightness issues

Is anyone having trouble with the adaptive brightness. I have it turned on and the brightness of the screen is not change regardless whether i'm in a fully lite room or in a dark room. I have it turned on in settings under display. Is there more too it? am I missing something?

No screen protector.. however I believe this is user error. I just read up on the difference between auto-brightness and adaptive brightness (which is on 5.1.1 and later). My device as functioning as expected.
The adaptive brightness on my device seems really sensitive, it even changes when the image on my TV changes from dark to light in a darkish room.
Agreed; mine is annoyingly sensitive, if I can say that. Very distracting while driving at night with the GPS on. Every minute it goes between bright and dark. Didn't have this on Nexus 6.

Yes. It happened to me while driving at night also. I hope that it will be tweaked and will be less sensitive.

No part of the phone protector covers anything on the screen-side, but are there ambient light sensors on the back, next to the camera?
I've got the issue too. Has anyone seen a solution like a kernel, xposed module or something?

Why is there an infrared light embedded in the notch?

I don't remember where I saw the photo otherwise I'd post it, but there's actually two sensors embedded in the notch that you can see if bright light is shining into it and from the photo that was shown of the 6T it actually appears one of the "sensors" is indeed giving off infrared luminesce.
