8525 Tethering in Vista - USB Modem Unknown

Setup: Stock Cingular 8125 WM5, Vista Home Premium 32bit
I've had no problem with in the past getting my Cingular 8525 to tether with any XP machine. However, Vista is proving to be even more worthess than XP as I imagined it would. WMDC works fine a side from it too being even more worthless than it's predecessor, as I can't even remote sync over a secure VPN anymore.
I have read and installed the drivers located both:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=288753
and
http://www.terranettech.net/DisplayPg.aspx?codeid=1128
Neither works solution...
With WMDC disabled I activate the Wireless Modem connection. Vista detects a new USB device at that point and starts looking for a driver.
It comes back saying it could not find a driver, and I click a button to specifically tell it what driver to use. I've tried both drivers listed in both URLs. Neither are accepted. I'm told "The folder specified does not contain a compatible software driver for your device."
For the record, the driver on the CD didn't work either (different message, something along the lines of "failed to install driver").
If I go into Device Manager and "Update Driver" (no driver is installed, Update is used whether no driver yet or really updating) and let Vista try to find it itself it says "The best driver for your device is already installed.", which is "Unknown Device".
Any ideas? I've seen people claiming they got their 8525 to tether with Vista using the modified driver. On my end it does not work though.
No ideas? Is there another place I should post this instead?
this may help
For anyone having trouble getting their laptop to recognize the 8525 as a modem this may be the solution.

my phone was working fine but when I tried to set my wife's up to tether it wouldn't show new hardware found when plugged in and when I tried to manually install the driver the process box just kinda stalled out and wouldn't go forward with the driver even though I had browsed to the right one. I had to uninstall the driver which was viewing the phone as a serial device. if you're having this trouble then try following the link above...

Bluetooth connection problems

Hi all
Just wondering if anybody has had this problem, I am trying to connect my HD2 to my PC which is on windows 7 64 bit using bluetooth, I have downloaded the updated drivers for the bluetooth adapter and the phone finds the PC and vice versa, when it gets to the stage of pairing I put both the code numbers in and windows starts to download drivers and then fails saying that "Bluetooth peripheral device driver not found" I have tried to update this driver from device manager using windows update but it still doesn't find it.
I can connect my wifes Sony Ericsson using the bluetooth no problem, so the problem must be with the HD2, any ideas would be appreciated.
Tom
Anybody???
I have the exact same problem. I am running also Win 7 64 bit. Would be good if anyone has a fix for that .

USB Tethering Error Win 8 i9505

I would just like to share an error I found when turning on USB tethering on Windows 8 using a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505.
Earlier, I was turning on USB Tethering for the first time. It worked fine for a few seconds while my computer was still in the process of installing the new drivers. The connection was all fine while it was running on the stock Microsoft Remote NDIS drivers.
But after it finished installing the Samsung NDIS drivers on my computer, USB Tethering suddenly stopped working and I couldn't find any local area network on my Network Connections folder.
I found out there was a problem with the drivers. I tried updating and it just said that the driver I'm using is the latest from Samsung.
If this happens to anyone else, go to Control Panel > Device Manager and look for the Samsung NDIS drivers. Right click then go to Properties > Drivers >and do a Driver rollback.
Using the stock Microsoft Remote NDIS driver seems to fix it.
I'm currently looking for a working driver from Samsung and if anyone has a link please post it. Thanks! :good:

"LG Software" mode error + solution

I've had the following problem which I solved and now I'm wondering if anyone else found it, since I'm afraid it might point out to some hardware fault.
When selecting LG Software mode on the phone for connecting to your PC, Windows (in my case, 7 x64) attempts to install an MTP USB Device, but fails with Code 10: Device cannot start. At this point I (after many trial-and-error cycles) had to select Update Driver for that device in Device Manager, select Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of drivers, and from the next screen, pick USB Composite Device instead of MTP USB Device. It installed right away and then 4 other USB devices popped up, which also were installed (using Windows Update). After this, LG PC Suite (and also LG Mobile Support Tool) detected the phone with no problems.
So, were any of you confronted with this?
Just wanted to say I had the same problems following your steps allowed me to get this to work. Thanked!
Thank you so much. This solved the problem.
I'm actually having this same issue. When I click "Show me a list of blah blah" it doesn't give me a USB Composite option. I only get two MTP options, and if I check "Show Compatible Hardware" it shows a bunch of drivers for MTP, WMP, and some other protocols. Any ideas?

yes, but unfortunately i don't have USB Composite Device as a selection on Windows 7 64bit. any other suggestions to get this stupid lg software installed?
After spending over 6 hours on this problem and installing a new windows, I finally found the culprit, it was Xposed Media Scanner, disabling it fixed the problem. Of course if you did not install this module before then the solution is not for you, maybe it will help someone reaching this page from Google.
