R2BA026 Universal Androot - XPERIA X10 General

I have a X10a on Rogers rooted with Universal Androot (one click solution).
Problem is Rogers is slow as molasses and still on R2BA020.
Can I flash my firmware with another regions stock R2BA026 and then re-use Universal Androot?
I don't want one of these hacked firmwares that you have to do 30 different fixes to get everything working.
Cheers

use debrand method with seus to update to generic x10a 026. then one click root again. piece of cake.

If you want the update to 026 and root as well use this:

It is very easy with no problems.

Quick question regarding updates

I have an X10 I bought that was with Rogers. I unlocked it and I am using it with Telus.
Since the provider itself is supposed to supply updates, and since Telus doesn't have the X10, how am I supposed to get them?
Thanks guys
Load an X10a generic Rom. You should still get the update.

I also I'm using a Rogers X10 that I unlocked and rooted using the following guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=711907, actually I used this guide when it was meant for the upgrade and root for 23 not 24. When I check for updates it tells me that there aren't any even though I know for sure that 24 and 26 are out. What do I do now? I'de like to be ready for the 2.1 upgrade? Can someone please advise? I don't want to lose root when 2.1 comes out then what should be done here?
There is a X10a Latin America Generic that I was using for a while. It doesn't have the automatic APN support so you'll have to set your APN settings manually. I forget where I found it though. This is a generic 026 ROM.
I am currently using the AT&T R2CA016 ROM that I have rooted, decrapified, and re-enabled non-market apps. It seems to the best performance and battery life from all the ROMs I have used. It was pretty amazing what removing the AT&T crap did for the performance of the phone.
The latest from Rogers is 020 no? Therefore.. it wouldn't show any other updates.

Rogers root

Hello all:
I am using a unlockedexperia play on the bell hspa network in Canada. I have rooted the phone using the uk firmwear and the ginger break method. I was wondering if is possible to root the rogers firmwear?
Thanks
When i had rogers firmware 2.3.2 i was able to root it with gingerbreak
do you know where i can get rogers 2.3.2 firmware for the flash tool?
The only Rogers ftf I've seen was for 2.3.3
Sent from my R800
If i understand things correctly i need the 2.3.2 for root then update to 2.3.3. Would you know if I can root 2.3.3. Do i need to unlock my bootloader to install new roms?
Why would you want the rogers firmware btw.... All the apps that rogers added is on the market to download. Rogers branded R800a starts up really slowly.

Google search wantanserver, download it and install r800a world generic 2.3.2 its rogers without the rogers crap. You can root it. Warning though there is no ota path on that firmware to 2.3.3 for that you have to use the pc companion and you will lose root.
If you want 2.3.3 with root the flash the 2.3.2 uk generic one, root then ota
it doesn't matter where the firwae is from? I thought rogers would work better in canada instead of the UK brand

I'm going to agree with this here. The Rogers bloat was terrible, you won't notice a negative difference at all, and you'll likely be happy to have The Sims 3 instead of Madden.
No doesnt matter
thankyou all very much rooting as we speak......trying lol

Rooted play

I have rooted my play using the uk version. there is an update. I tried it and I get an install error. is anyone els having this problem and wil I lose my root??

are you using OTA or the PC Companion (or other)? and is your bootloader locked or unlocked?
I had that issue but i think i found a way by it. I flashed the r800a world generic 2.3.2, set up the wifi and searched for an update. It found an ota update to the latest version.
I cancelled the update, rooted with universal androot then continued the update. Now im on the latest (with xloud) and its rooted. My bootloader is still locked.
I used wontanserver to install the 2.3.2 btw.

[Q] Problem to update to 2.3.4

Ok, I'm quite new to the forums and want to say hi first.
So here is my question.
I wanted to root my phone so I flashed it with UK generic 2.3.2 with flashtool and then rooted it with gingerbreak. And then updated to 2.3.3 ota. Now when I'm checking for the new 2.3.4 I can't find it.
Is there any problem that I live in a Nordic country? Or is it just that my carrier hasn't released it?
Sincerely

Welcome ,
Most likely your carrier hasnt released it yet
If your impatient, you can visit this thread to get 2.3.4 and root

[Q] As a Canadian Xperia play user..

I cannot actually root at the moment because the last month the Gingerbreak root exploit was fixed and I am unable to use the boot loader because I'm on Rogers here in Canada, right?
You can install the 2.3.2 UK non-generic firmware via flashtool, root your phone with gingerbreak, update to OTA 2.3.3
That or unlock your phone here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232050
which is unlock your bootloader and your SIM. From there you can update to the Nordic 2.3.4 and root it via recovery.
Im a Canadian Xperia play user with a Rogers Xperia play, unbranded, unlocked bootloader and unlocked SIM and using a Bells SIM card. Currently running 2.3.4
Flash it to generic uk version 2.3.2 then root it and ota update it to the newest version.
I'm with rogers too, they made the boot up long...

Wow. That's quite the process. I may as well have had like three heart attacks in the last hour, I didn't realize it would take two minutes to boot, so I figured I had messed up -_-
I can't wait to update, currently I am rooting, thanks a lot guys I was getting tired of running into walls!

If you can unlock bootloader, cm7 takes 28 seconds to boot. Doesn't take much longer to boot even if you clear the dalvik cache

I've tried two versions of Gingerbreak and they don't seem to be rooting
Infact it keeps unmounting my sd card..
Gingerbreak can potentially take a very long time, and unmounting of the sd card is actually a part of the process

Have u tried updating to 2. 3. 4. I'm interested in trying it but risky with the Rogers policy crap.

Use the na gereric not the uk version
Gingerbreak is REALLY funny. I've done this a few times, and it never seems to go the same way twice.
Once after 20 minutes I gave up, went in and manually mounted my SD Card through the settings option - phone rebooted and was rooted almost immediately
(not recommending you do that, but sometimes the smallest things make a dif, like formatting your SD Card from the phone itself first)

Any NA generic for 2.3.2 out there to gingerbreak?
So, this stuff is bonkers. I'm happy I saw monkey mentioned that the unmounting is what it does, because I was able to root on my bus ride home. Currently OTAing right now.
The Rogers Xperia play is no less hackable than any unbranded Play

Sorry mate the R800x model is a bit different in that matter. Check out the development section on how to unlock and root
And you can't flash the Uk nor the Nordic firmwares it deosen't work, you'll also need to do some tweaking aswell. I think thre's some threads floating around on how to get those FW's working on the R800x model.
Regards Dousan...
e: check this thread out on how to make the UK FW working:

Interesting. So it looks like I need their special client to flash to 2.3.2 US Generic. Unless there's a FTF out there..
Also, from what I read, it doesn't offer OTA to 2.3.3, so that kinda sucks.
It does. I have a rogers play and i used wantonserver to flash 2.3.2 na , root, ota update
The software and the credits are free, everything is super easy and they have the firmware for pretty much every region from 2.3.2 fw to 2.3.4
