Hello all,
I was just wandering...... From all the developers here, does anyone think if its possible to use the lock button while in camera mode to shoot pictures.
It really seams useless to lock the screen while in camera mode......
I've been quite impressed with all the great work you all put into developing this phone into even better device.
Let me know what you thing about that.
Thank you in advance.

Don't shoot me if u allready know or allready posted somewhere else on XDA
On homescreen long press screen and select Shortcuts( or menu>add>shortcuts)
Select activities, sweep to Camera>expand and select camcorder. Et Voila! A direct shortcut to camcorder without starting the cam first.
Feel free to explore other hidden com.google activities without other 3rd party apps
nice one.
I use the recorder alot so this is sweet.
Not bad. I have set up a dock for the camera, gallery and camcorder to easily get to in LP. Hopefully use camcorder more often.

Very nice!!
I use Camera360 for taking pictures but always hated to have the original Galaxy S camera icon on my homescreen as well in case i want to shoot a video.
With this neat little trick i have a special videocamera icon + it´s a great time safer. THANX!!
Thanks for this useful tip.

I'm wondering the same thing. Any picture that's taken in portrait mode has the wrong orientation when sharing via mms or Facebook. Any workarounds?

its not just the NS, lurk around the SGS forums they might have a fix that will work, but other than that, it appears that the camera is only intended for use in Landscape
Greetings All,
Is it just me or is anyone else having camera trouble. I have the stock ROM, haven't rooted yet, and I notice the phone will hang after I snap a pic or when I attempt to view the pic in the Gallery. I mean it will really hang.
I usually have to shut the phone down and restart it. Or I back out of the camera program all together and try to relaunch it.
Am I the only one?
never hear of that problem until just now, after reading your message
we've seen all kind of other color off related issues with the camera, but not causing the phone to hang
did you try another camera software to see if it does the same?
try Camera 360 for example

Also have not heard of this issue. What does camera 360 do?

I've tested it before and it worked. Now it does not. The camera crashes after a picture us taken. Same with CameraZoomFX. I thought that it is because i removed the SD card (turned to be a fake 32Gb) but in CameraZoom there is an option to store pictures in different folder.

Not just you mate, I was racking my brains as to why the camera kept 'closing' on me when I pressed the Home button to take a picture.
Likewise I was used to pressing a similar button on the HTC Desire, so thanks for pointing out the error of my ways!!
One for the clever devs to make a custom option to assign a hardware key to take pics methinks...
Hi all,
On my old Nexus S running CM10, I was able to map the power button to be used a dedicated shutter button while in the camera app. I really appreciated this functionality. Is there anyway to do this on a rooted Nexus 4 from the stock camera app (or a modded version of it), while running the stock ROM?
I know there are some apps that will do this. For example, Camera FV-5 and VolShutter are capable of this. These apps are not exactly what I am looking for. I'd really like to find a way to do this in the stock app. Also, I'd prefer to remain on the stock 4.2.2 ROM (so CM10.1 is not an option for me).
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help!
Bump and did you find a solution?
Give this a shot...

I am using this :
Camera ICS ( from google play store )
( No photosphere ).
In settings you can choose volume rocker buttons + and - as AF or Soot actions.
