Vibrant for $0.01! - Vibrant General

you can get the vibrant on amazon for 1 cent with new contract..good deal for people that missed previous deals

awesome deal, just saw that

Wow, I just may return my vibrant and buy this then pay the etf! Brand new vibrant for roughly $200! Wow, that's a low price!

Just note that Amazon charges a higher ETF if you cancel the contact you establish through them. I do wish it was only a $200 ETF if you buy from Amazon though. Could be getting a lot of smartphones from them for the purpose of reselling.

Remember that you also have a contract with T-Mobile, which has its own ETF ($200 prorated). I think Amazon's $250 penalty is in addition to that.

Wow. I should have figured these clever companies would think ahead like that.

My speculation is in the $180-220 range subsidized.
I'm going with two theories:
Either they do what I expect they do, (because Sprint's marketing department needs a lobotomy) and they make it $399 with a $100 rebate, for $299.99 total.
OR, they can do the SMART thing for once in their corporate lives, and make this phone competitive (since they want subscribers AND 4G folk) and make it $249.99 or $299.99, with a $100 rebate, for a final price of either $149.99 or $199.99. If they REALLY want to be smart? $249.99 out the door, no rebate.
Honestly, I'd pay 400 for it.
I'm not going to get my premier discount since I got the Hero in October, but I don't care, I'm forking out for it.
This thing is a game changer. DSL speeds in my own phone with a mobile hotspot built in for 8 devices? Show me where to sign.
they need to cut out that rebate ****, when best buy can sell it at the same price or lower minus the rebate hassle, you know sprint can too.

Just look at HTC device pricing by the carriers. Touch Pro2 for both Sprint and T-Mobile are both north of $250 with rebates and look how popular they have been. The HD2 for T-mobile is curently $199.99 with rebates and it would be wise of Sprint to keep the EVOs price point no more than that (at least at release).
Something to note as of now on Sprint's site the Hero s $149.99 and the moment is $99.99. looks like the Moment was popular for about as long as its name entails
The moment was imo a monumental flop. I work with a guy who has one and it sucks.
Somewhere between 199 299 after rebates but it could be as high as 399. This is certainly a premium teir device, there is no skirting that. Assuming that the nexus one will be available by this time it will probably be hard for me to make a decision between the two. The main reason for this is that although the nexus one will have a higher un-subsidised cost (and a few less features), it won't require me to sign up for an even MORE expensive 4G plan and it will still have that sweet sweet Snapdragon chipset we love so much.
As we all know, sprint has not released any details regarding their pricing or plans however if I were a betting man, I would bet that sprint will not allow you to activate this device without paying for a plan that includes 4G data (obviously a premium service). That being said, I sure hope they don't go the route of some of their previous devices and actually do a tiered launch where the phone is ONLY available in markets that have 4G coverage. This would pretty much ensure the N1 as my only option this fall when I'm eligible for an upgrade.

why do you say obviously? 4G is the future I don't see them pricing it higher that would be pointless.
If I were to guess I say 3G/4G will be at the same price point, they'd shoot themselves in the foot if they launched this device requiring 4G when its still going to be in a select market.

Did anyone see this?? EVO might be available in April????
I seriously doubt April, but I have a feeling I'll find out more on 3/31. As for unsubsidized pricing, Sprint NEVER has a smartphone for less than $500-550, so whoever is saying $450, forget it.
You should figure $249/$299 + $150 (2 year discount) + $100 (other instant discounts) + $100 rebate.

I agree..there's currently no price difference in their mobile broadband price for 4g/3g and 3g only. Would not make sense to tack on an extra price for 4g..tho I would say, I wonder if 4g will remain unlimited...

craiglist = HA

If you buy an EVO 4g off craigslist for the price they are selling them for, you deserve it. I think it'd be cheaper to buy it on a new line for 199.99 and take the ETF.. LOL
all the ones around the atlanta area were for around $650... I think I can wait a week and get mine for $199.
However, I can't say it didn't cross my mind to bust out my check book.
I wish I could just put myself into a cryogenic sleep for 10 days.
... on a side note, that might be the nerdiest, most pathetic thing I've ever said.
There's more of a cost than just ETF, taxes, etc...
I got mine pretty cheap, cheaper than the $199 cost + ETF, so for me anyway I won at your logic..
Plus if you get one of the I/O phones, you get an extra $10 off your monthly cost (which they don't list it as a year or two year thing either...) because it's a dev phone.

$199 + ETF is not less than $199.
I myself am going a route that is not to be discussed on this forum... but I don't want to buy a phone for $450 + Taxes (around here it's roughly 10%), so in the end it'd have been close to $500. So instead of that, I paid less than $400 with a free month of service (including 4g, and the option to go the dev plan route later).
But yes, $600-700 is too much, but there's a decent amount of people out there with more money than time. Just like Wii, iPhone, etc.
I paid 500 for mine straight up, new in box. After having it a week I will say it was worth every penny! This is the device I have been waiting for all my life.
i'm excited for the phone, but you guys are like fiending for it... the device you've been waiting for all your life?
I got mine for $500. It is out for delivery right now. The anticipation is killing me!

Same here. I'm not remotely eligible for upgrade yet, so I'd be paying $450 + tax for it anyway. $500 for the phone and getting in on the $10 off via the Google I/O dev deal is worth it!

Retail Price

Assuming that we stick with the fad here - the Epic 4g will be $199 on first line contract pricing. Do you all think its safe to assume the $599.99 price tag for a full retail price?
I'm curious because I will most likely make this my next phone the day it is rooted and don't have an upgrade to use on it.
Before I decide, I wan't to see Quadrant/linpac/benchmark Pi scores before I buy - I have every suspicion that it will beat/match everything else on the market with the GPU it has in it. SuperAMOLED will be nice as well.
why pay retail? Just get someone you know who worships an iphone to buy one on contract. Have them end the contract the next day (pay the $200 ETF) and give them the $400 to cover their cost. Save yourself $200. Never understood why these phones have inflated prices on ebay and stuff. When i was low on cash last year, i did this repeatedly and got hundreds a week on craigslist. There are so many ways to legally make money in this world for those that want it. If you don't, somebody else will. I could write a book with the crap I've learned through the years.

Don't you have to pay the deposit and I'm pretty sure you have to pay the first months bill even if you cancel out.. that's about $125 for the deposit and likely about $120 or so for the first month.
no deposit on a contract phone. If you cancel the next day, at worst, you'll pay pro-rated amount of contract (69+10)/30 or about $2.60.

Not true, I almost went for the HTC Hero back in November and I paid the $125 deposit. It depends on your credit, I have zero.
Yet somehow I still have a 680 dollar bill at Verizon for 2 BB Storm 2's I bought and returned within my 30 days...I am taking them to court over it. Either way.
I don't mind paying retail for it, just curious what it is going to be.

Hope you get lots of money from them for their stupidity. You should get more then just the refunded $680, they should pay all the legal fees and plus extra for wasting your time.
Retail for all (high end) Sprint PDAs should be $450 for the time being. EVO, Blackberry Bold, the Epic.

Samsung Epic 4G $199.99 on Amazon.com

EDIT: The phone seems to be back in stock online. Still says ships in 8-9 days.
Amazon.com just got the EPIC 4G on their site for preorders, it's $199.99 with new contract, or $499.99 without any service. Best deals I've seen anywhere. If these don't sell out, I bet it'll hit $150 by september 1st. This is just great if you are a new customer on Sprint.

Kinda blows if you're an existing one though...
Does sprint allow you to cancel and then sign up as a new contract? Because of the pro-rating of their cancellation fees, it would be significantly cheaper to get the discounted Amazon phone (even better if it follows the other Galaxy S phone pricing) than it would be to buy the unsubsidized Epic.

You mean cancel your current sprint plan, then take the amazon.com epic deal with a brand new contract? I think you can do that. However like you said, there is the prorated early termination fee, and you also need to consider that you would of course lose your current phone number. You could of course also switch to a prepaid account with some other carrier for a week or so though, and just port your number over a lot, but that could be a bit risky/flawed.
If you wanted to buy a cheap amazon epic 4g then cancel right after though, you'd pay a ton, amazon.com would hit you with early cancel charges, as would sprint.
If you cancel your contract, you have to wait 90 days before you can qualify for new customer pricing on devices.

Yes, I meant the first part. Cancel my sprint contract (and risk losing the #), then rejoin sprint on the cheaper (possibly much cheaper) amazon phone deal. Switching phone numbers isnt always a bad thing.
$199 wow! Way to stick it to Wirefly and their cheapo $10 off price.
I'm currently on the $30 SERO plan, and converting to either a 5-line EPRP, or a 5-line corporate discount plan. I guess there's no way in hell I can do either one thru Amazon.

Aha, thanks for the definitive answer. Could a family member qualify immediately? We don't share a last name.
Oh man Amazon is annoying, is there any way to see the final review order page without submitting the credit check info? I'd assume they don't actually perform the credit check until you submit the order, but I'd rather not take that risk, especially just to see a check-out price! I just want to see if they charge taxes and activation.

From what I was told at the Sprint store, its a total of $240 early termination, or $10 a month, for each of the 24 months of the 2 year contract.
The longer you have the contract, the lower the termination fee is.
Does Amazon charge an activation fee of $36 per line? Also has anyone purchased from them before? Just wondering if they would actually ship the phone on 8/31 and if the return policy is any good? Thanks in advance.

Be careful...they use to be called "Exoticphones.com"
I'd be careful too...
How can they offer a discount with an ATT plan????
Seems suspicious to me...but good luck if you go with it!
Im only guessing here but I bet a phone vendor could sign you up for ATT with any phone, like an iPhone. Then turn around and sell that iPhone at retail to another person. But give you the 2 year discount on the Note.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Vendor signs you up for a new 2 year contract with at&t. They choose iphone 4s as your new phone. They keep the 4s and sell it for like $600 bucks. They are then able to offer you the note for $599
I would cut the middle man out and just do it yourself if you don't already have an at&t contract or are not in upgrade status.

The contract is only $200 cheaper. If you instead extend your contract with buying an iphone 4s, you'll come out far ahead. You'll pay $200 (instead of $400) and you can sell it on ebay for $600 at least then use that money for the Note. So in effect the iphone route is at least $200 cheaper for the same end result. That is assuming this is legit, and ignoring ebay fees (use craigslist.)
"If it seems too good to be true..."

I also just called them up. I work in NYC and they seem to offer local pickup, so what better way to see if they actually have it in stock then to walk over there...The person that answered said it was out of stock and due back in, in about 2 weeks.
When I pressed for a more specific date, he just said he wasn't sure, but about 2 weeks.
...All kinds of red flags here.

Thanks. I was partially looking at it as a convenience issue (not having to deal with reselling, no fees, no uncertainty of what it ultimately sells for), but you're right, $200, or even $100, is a big chunk for convenience. But ultimately, it's not very convenient if "electropirise" screws you over.
