It's a fairly small complaint, but I watch a lot of videos at work, and because the usb plug is on the top, rather than the bottom as my MT3G was, I can't comfortably watch videos with it plugged into my computer, which is fairly far to the right of my seat. Any way the video player can be flipped? Or is there a decent video app that does this? I suppose I could rearrange my whole desk, but I'd rather see if I can do this first. Any ideas?

Hey all,
I'm outputting video from my vibrant to my tv using a 3.5mm to rca cable. Video outputs fine, but I was wondering if there is anyway to turn off the phone's display while playing video or movie. By pressing the screen off button in the video player, all that happens is a touchscreen lock, that's it. So perhaps I'm missing something? maybe there's another video player out there that can achieve what I'm looking for? if anyone can shed some light on this, it would be much appreciated, thank you
Kevin
+1... i'd also like to know if this is possible... but hopefully a good video player that plays divx...xvid..and others alike...
I think you would actually need a video player that will actually support the vibrant's tv out feature. As of yet, there its no way to turn it off...how else would you control the screen then?...

How much you paid for it, cause i believe th cheapest for these is about 15£, as mentioned in another thread.
I read the charger is needed to keep the battery full, as current tv usb ports are un-powered, but new powered usb tv`s are on the way that do.
I have a crazy idea .. Does anybody know if i plug hdmi out from my phone to my onkyo amp the sound on video playback will be 5.1? Or even play music will this work on the subwoofer unlike using 3.5mm jack. Thanks

I did some testing with my newly acquired Samsung MHL adapter.
Here are some things i noticed:
Power:
You indeed need to have it plugged in, but you can use a normal computer USB cable to power it. Mind you, that the phone seems to use extra power when running with the adapter, getting more hot. Having it plugged into my PC, i noticed the power drain was high enough that the battery would actually (very) slowly discharge, if i was actively using the phone.
Resolution:
When sitting at the home screen, or any other screen excluding video playback, the picture will be a mirror of the phone. Output is 1080i but the picture is just the 800x480 picture upscaled. This means that you can't really use it to browse webpages in full resolution, and so forth. When doing movie playback, the movie will display in full resolution over hdmi.
Overhead controls will not show on the hdmi output. I've seen this mode active in the standard movie player, and in the youtube player so far. I can test any other apps if i requested. I'm guessing that when the hardware video decoder kicks in, it outputs directly to hdmi.
Unfortunately this also means that when using the gallery to display pictures/video on your TV, video recording will actually display in higher resolution then your pictures! Pictures are just displayed in standard upscaled 800x480, while video displays in full 1920x1080.
Sound:
When in mirror/upscale mode, sound is also "mirrored" to the TV, meaning you can use the phone as a music player or whatever to your stereo. I don't know if it does 5.1 when in video mode, as i only have 2.1 speakers, but i assume that it would.
I noticed one exception to this, which is the FM radio, which sadly only outputs to either headphones, or phone speaker. No option to play it over hdmi.
Let me know if there are any specific things you'd like me to test in regards to this.
My Mad Catz MOJO console has an issue: When set to 1080p, the screen image is a little too zoomed in. Obscuring the edges and losing part of the picture. I've tried messing around with Tv controls and thought maybe my Tv was interpeting the signal wrong. Nope, even when setting the picture to "normal" which results in a tiny box in the center, the edges are still obscured.
So i get the idea to try setting it to 720P instead.... image looks great and fits my screen perfectly. However, now there is no sound whatever! I've tried plugging in headphones into the headphone jack to check that as well, and there is sound. However, none outputted through the Tv. I have the latest firmware by the way, and even tried downgrading to an earlier one. Same issue for both.
Lastly, i tried using different HDMI ports. All (3) ports on my HD-TV had the same result.
I've managed to make a bearable fix by downloading a screen settings app that lets me change the resolution but, it could be better. The screen height is perfect but, i lose some width on the sides. At least i can see the full image now.
My question is: Does your MOJO also refuse to output sound at 720p? Is my unit defective?
I'd like to know so i can try exchanging it to amazon for another one.
Just tried it out, sound works flawless in 720p Mode.
I've noticed that when using YouTube and playing something through a PLAYLIST and tilting the phone towards the right that the volume will cut out until the screen has rotated. The volume will also cut out when tilting the screen from the right position to the straight up position.
After more testing I have found that this issue exists when playing any video from any app or gallery that the video is being played from.
This does not happen when tilting the phone to the left.
I have the 6P and I've noticed it on all 6Ps I've come across.
In order to get fixes for things like this we need people to confirm the issue.
just found your post on here when i looked for youtube app issue with 6p. I tried yours and can confirm that audio was cut off when rotate to the right instead of left. i do have another issue atm that everytime when try to watch vids from youtube in landscape from my playlist, went back to playlist and it already scrolled back to the top and not at current position like my other phones. However if in portrait mode it is fine to stay where i watch when go back to the list. Is there anyone has this issue or just me? thanks

Same issue here with playlists not holding its position. Also, sometimes while scrolling in playlist the app crashes.
Does this happen outside of the YouTube app. For instance take a video on your phone and test it like you do with YouTube. If it doesn't cut out then at least it's narrowed down to YouTube.

This is an issue that exists in the entire phone and not just youtube. You can play a recorded video from your gallery and try rotating your phone and the same issue will appear.
Has nobody else noticed this?........I am shocked!!!
Come on guys chime in
The audio does cut out for a bit, but it actually makes sense! When holding the phone in portrait mode or rotated left, the top speaker is the left channel and the bottom speaker is the right channel.
Flip the phone to the right, and the speaker positions are reversed, so the phone has to reverse which channel each speaker corresponds to. Being that it has to switch the audio, there probably won't be a fix for it.
Note this happens with any audio source.

So when I go to the gym, I transfer audio files to my watch, for I don't like my bulky phablet attached to my arm. Not only the long podcasts and audiobooks don't start from last position, you can't even scroll to the point you were last time.
This issue renders the smartwatch completely useless when it comes to listening to anything longer than a couple of minutes.
Any solution for this?
