Any one have a sprint hero working on boost? - Hero CDMA General

I would like to know if the evdo works, and i would like to know what doesn't work compared to how the phone would work if it was on sprint.

you need the cdma hero forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=642

Moved to cdma general

I've heard of it and once properly set up it worked fine with 3g. I'm not sure how you would do it though as the only way I've heard of it done is illegal.

EVO on TELUS (Canada)

I want to know if there are any members here who are successfully using the EVO on the TELUS network here in Canada. I've heard of a few people doing it, but nothing reliable. I'd like to get one, but don't want to waste my money.
I know it will work on our evdo cdma band (in theory) but I would like to hear from someone who has actually done it, and if you had any problems getting it running.
Thanks.

I already have one and still trying to make it work. Telus is not picking it us as a compatible phone but I am hopeful that this will work.

Att 4g or 3g

Is there anyway to run the mytouch 4g on att without it only being on edge network?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Pretty sure thats a no since the radios are built for different frequencies.
Unfortunately no, the radio in the Mytouch 4G only supports At&t's Edge Network.
probably not
iphone supports only EDGE on t-mobile network, so I assume the hardware designed for phones are only available to the network they were originally made for
if you want to run a MT4G on att go buy a desire HD. same unit but the radio's work on ATTs 3g network. thats basically the only way.

thats pretty much true there unless the phone is running quadband HSDPA. which is very rare nowadays. tmobile just kinda sucks cause they are running a rare HSDPA band while ATT runs a more mainstream. i buy phones from taiwan (HTC headquarters) for my family to use on ATT and their 3G is flawless.

Could you elaborate more on the Taiwan connection? I'm using this device now but would rather go back to the mt4g. Yet considering the match level of chess these companies are playing I need a Bobby Fischer type of device, of which seems to not be available in the YouEss

It's quite simple. all the phones from Taiwan use the same 3g signal as att here for their smartphones. So you can buy phones from there and they will work perfectly fine on att networks here.

I was up for quite some time last night looking for a seller of the Tawian type phones you mentioned. I was lost. Could you be a help and point me into a proper direction? (ie... a responsible source )

Flashing to Verizon..

Is it possible to flash the sprint nexus 4g to Verizon? If so, how?
Thanks
The short and simple answer is no. If you want the long detailed version look around xda as this gets asked a lot in other cdma phone sections...
Sent on the go from my android device using Tapatalk
Oh ok thanks. I figured it could be possible since the verizon iPhone was able to flash to sprint. I guess the nexus is different or something.
i would imagine using tools there available online you could in theory get it going on verizon and maybe even get 3g but 4g wouldnt work for sure

When did this happen? You might be mistaken

I have a verizon prl flashed. It allows my nexus to roam on the verizon network at all times. It increased my dl speeds from 300k to 2mb per second.
You still need sprint service though.

Could you post how you did that? I would like increased 3G speed and coverage. 4G is fine in coverage areas for me. 3.5-5 down avg

Nope..it's highly possible ..check YouTube and eBay. People even got step by step and so on. So I know it's possible.
I was hoping to do the same thing. Technically it seems like the Sprint ones should be possible.
I poked around the forums trying to find a general answer why this wasn't possible but didn't find any real concrete answer. Can anyone explain why it's not possible or point me to a post that does?
Thanks
Possible, yes. Legal? Not so much.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
The fact that its illegal is why your not going to find a how-to on xda.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
Why would it be illegal?
Root your phone and then download roam control.

I dont think you understand what the OP is trying to do. He doesn't want to roam on Verizon, he wants to get a Verizon plan and activate his phone on Verizon. That requires falsifying your IMEI and no you cant do that with an app from the market.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Google is your friend, OP.
You clearly like android, so seek and you shall find

Removed post.
The hardest part would be getting VZW to add the devices IMEI into their database, impossible, no, but very difficult.

That's cool except this thread has nothing to do with gsm carriers. You wont understand how cdma works. Only our brothers in japan and korea understand the headaches and abilities

Evo 4G On Straight Talk

I have successfully flashed the Evo 4G to Straight Talk.
The only issue I ran into was MMS. I had to use a different program to be able to use the MMS on the evo.
I have internet working on it at 3G speeds. I it way faster then Sprint or Boosts internet.
The network is super smooth.
If you are wondering how to flash the Evo over to Straight Talk please let me know.
###########################
Use APN Backup & Restore to backup, erase, then put these apns in the folder, and then restore them. Reboot and your MMS will work. Tested on HTC Androids Only.
Let me if you tested them on another phone.
Yes please post instructions

i thought straight talk was on tmobile which uses completely different frequencies than Sprint and requires a SIM card which the Evo doesn't support?
Yeah.. thats what I thought also, so not sure how it would be possible. He never replied back to my PM.
Probably just a troll.

I've had my Evo 4G flashed to Straight Talk since November 2011, but I can't get anymore to stick on the network. When I flash any HTC now it always says "unable to authenticate", but the internet works. I have the same problem with Verizon prepaid, so my question is does anybody know the solution to get HTC's to stay on the network?

Please contact me and tell me how to do this my EVO is already flashed to cricket straight talk would be awesome

Straight talk uses recycled phones and uses all cellphone providers. My sister started with a Sprint phone, went to Verizon and now has an ATT phone till she found good service at home.

what do you mean by flashed, are you spoofing the ESN of your evo to that of a Straight-talk supported phone? and that is not working?
I was not aware that straight talk supports CDMA phones...
You will need a donor phone from straight talk first. Buy a Samsung or LG cdma from straight talk first. Then let me know once you have that.
You will need to activate it.
Then you will need to copy NV Items 464-465 and 1192-1194
Copy the PRL
Copy the NAM and evdo settings

Im sure ill be hitting you up once I upgrade and will put my evo on pre-paid.
I have everything working on all HTC and LG androids so far. I did get a Samsung Transform with no mms but it worked really fast the Internet.
Post your questions here. I will try to make a tutorial but I will be using cdma workshop.3.8 so it may be slightly different

its not possible. ns4g was made for sprint specifically because it is a CDMA network. T-mobile operates on the more common GSM network.
You might be able to get it on Boost Mobile, and I've seen a thread about getting it to work on Metro PCS although it was pretty dodgy and I dont believe you even get 3g with that.
