I recently bought an android dev phone without realizing it has only android 1.6 onboard. I tried some sample code from android 2.2 but not all of them can run in my phone. However it seems we can no longer download the 1.6 sample code via the sdk manager. Therefore I wonder if anyone here has the package of 1.6 sample. Can I get a copy? I really appreciate that.
Or if you knew how to upgrade the adroid dev phone to 2.2 that would be even better.

I was wondering if anyone has been able to get it working on a GSM Hero? I have a telus hero and was wondering if anyone has gotten it to work, and what steps you did.
I would imagine the people who have it running on the G1 are on Android 1.6 whilst we are currently stuck with 1.5. Just a guess though.
Now here, but from v. 1.6. .... http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2009/11/happy-thanksgiving-travels-google-maps.html
meh.
I guess we'll have to wait till HTC releases an update 2.0 rom, someone gets this working on a 1.5 rom, or someone creates a new custom 1.6 rom.
I'm guessing that we'll have to wait till 2.0.
excuse me if this has already been asked but i did a search and could not find anything on this forum again a apologize a head of time for it.
I'm looking to see if i can load a custom rom using sdk so i can start working on a rom for my phone since no one is really working on my phone at this point and i am tired of say promised updates from cricket for my phone i pretty much gave up on cricket and sanyo on the promised update and i know of a rom on the same phone on sprint with a 2.1 version.. but im stuck in a old 1.6 android so im putting on the thinking cap and going to try some stuff on my system before i start messing things up on the android phone. so step one for me is to get a good set of instructions for ubuntu sdk eclipse i found some for windows and mac but not for ubuntu all i find is how to install sdk not anything with custom roms. thank you for reading and hopefully i can get started on my project.

Yeah, start from there. I did it twice already for my phone, work 100%. I did it once when I flashed CM 6.0 (Froyo 2.2), secondly, when I almost bricked the phone trying to update new bootloader and radio to have working updated Froyo 2.2.1
Hello ! I was wondering it is possible to make a 2.3 ROM for our phone (i8000)? I do not believe is it very difficult, basing my opinion that we have several phones with almost the same hardware as our phone, running android 2.3.
And there is already a project on samdroid about the i5700 spica, able to run even android 4.0. But the most important is that on the same project they have managed to make some 2.3 ROMS for i5700 able to operate everything on the phone. So i was wondering that since they managed to make a fully working 2.3 ROM for a phone only having 2.1 official Samsung ROM, why we can not get this 2.3 ROM, modify it and finally run android 2.3 on out phone?
I tried copy many files of a 2.3 ROM for i5700 and replace the original ones of a CM beta 2 ROM for i8000, but booting fails. i tried to make my own pack under ubuntu and ext4.tar.gz rom file seems to be ok, but phone doesn't want to boot. The problem is i know few about the android system structure, maybe i am replacing the wrong files. And yes i admit i5700 and i8000 same similar hardware but not 100% the same, plus our phone has windows mobile and boot android using haret.
So what you think of android 2.3 on i8000 ? Anyone can help ? According to over 1 million peopIe are interested about this project, so i think it worth. do not know many things about programming, but i can try help this new project on any other way.
wish it is

Hi guys, I'm pretty much a newbie to this all and was wondering if anyone could help me get my HD2 back to its original settings of being on WM6.5.
I recently upgraded it to 2.2 by NAND ( no idea what that means) but I was successful on getting it up and running on android.
Im now trying to be more adventurous and see if I can boot the rom to 4.4 but just for safe measures, I'd like to know how I can get the system back. Also if anyone can post the links of what Id need to download to get it to 4.4 and how I need to do that from 2.2 would be great. I don't know if I could just upload another android version on top of the 2.2 or if I would have to remove that first.
Thank you in advance

In future search before posting. To flash a higher version of Android (although 4.4 doesn't exist yet and probably never will) check out the guide in my sig. To flash a stock ROM just download one from the HTC website and flash the RUU in the bootloader.
I tried looking for previous posts that would hep, but this stuff is completely going over my head and I am still determined to get my HTC on an upgraded android version. What android version would you recommend? anything more up-to-date than 2.2 would be great (with everything working, I have read posts where some people have had problems with the camera not working)
I have had a look on the HTC website and they no longer support HD2 :-/ How can I restore it? *confused* I'm a complete newbie and a noob, yup both, but I will not be giving up
Further guidance would be great.
I think a JB ROM would be good if you want functionality and the latest version. If you want stability then 2.3 is probably best. The only real solution is to try a few ROMs out and see what you like best.
