I have a Samsung Fascinate Telus model.
I tried a root method (I'll post the youtube tutorial I followed below) and it gave me a message in the cmd prompt that the "exploit was successful". However, in the cmd prompt, I also got error messages like "unable to detect xbin folders", "unable to detect busybox folders" and things like that. I later realized that this tutorial was only for Verizon Fascinates. Yeah, I'm a nub. heh
So after "rooted?" my phone I went to try the apps that the guy on youtube suggests and wasn't getting good results. Was unable to update the apps, with some apps telling me that my "root failed".
I'm just curious as what I should do next. My phone still works just like before - thank god. I want to try another root method, but I want to make sure I don't screw anything up by putting roots on top of each other. I'm not even sure if my phone is rooted.
Edit: Here is the link to the Youtube tutorial I followed:
OK. Not allowed to post links, yet. Here's the title of the video. It should be the first video in youtube search or Google:
AccessoryGeeks: Samsung Fascinate Root Walkthrough UPDATE!!! 10/14/10
Also, if anyone has had success with rooting their Telus Fascinate, I would love to hear how you did it.
This is my first post, but I really like the setup of this forum.
Reading and learning will help you understand what you are exactly trying to do. Avoid you tube videos.

Thanks. Will do.
Thanks for that link. I did actually come across that last night when I was scouring the interwebs. I really need to read up on this because I have absolutely no idea how to do most of what is being said. haha
Btw, I'm from Nova Scotia and love your Bubbles avatar. hahaha
Though, the Bubbles' Mansion bar is no longer.

I think he wanted to say that this exploit works on any Android 4.0.4 device, but he copy/pasted from the razr forum and didn't change it to s3. Maybe someone who is interested in getting root without touching the counter could try that method.

Mmmmm... I think i prefer Chainfire's Odin root flash, i don't know why...
Moved to general, the rule of thumb is, if *you* did not develop it, it does not belong in the development section.
Also closed due to.. odd instructions, PM when you are ready to clear up if this works on the SGS3 and write a clear OP rather than just copypasting someone elses.
You also need to make sure you get permission to cross post someone elses work.
PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAVEN'T CREATED THIS SOFTWARE. I AM JUST SHARING IT.
I REQUEST YOU DON'T CLOSE THE THREAD PLEASE.
Hello Everybody,
I am just sharing this app for rooting any Android...
It works for my Sony Xperia SP even without flashing with DoomLord's Method.
But The Only Problem of this Application is that it's in chinese
The Superuser which comes after rooting is also in Chinese but it will 100% root your phone
Please make a backup of your nandroid before using it..
I will not be responsible for any bricking, I have tested the software myself and currently using it. If your device is bricked and you pointed on me, I will laugh at you.
READ THE STEPS CAREFULLY..
Steps :
1. Extract the .rar file and install the software (I know it's chinese but please try to Understand)
2. Make sure your Internet Connection is ON and star the Software.
3. Turn on USB Debugging and Unknown Resources from your phone.
4. Connect your phone to your PC and If the PC Companion is troubling you, then close it.
5. Then it will take some time to install drivers automatically and when the bottom right button of the software turns grey to Green, click on it.
6. It will take some time so be patient.
7. Then after some time your phone will restart. (It may take some time to start, dont worry)
8. Then check the superuser app (Blue Shield Icon) and grant the permissions (if asked).
9. Your Phone is Successfully ROOTED!!
Steps for Unrooting your phone:
1. Turn on USB Debugging and Unknown Resources from your phone.
2. Connect your phone to your PC.
3. Start The VRoot Software.
4. It will detect the phone a another window will come.
5. Click on the Green Tab Button located at the bottom right of the window.
6. Then Your Phone will restart.
7. You have successfully Unrooted your phone.
CHECK WITH ROOT CHECKER IF YOU HAVE ROOTED OR UNROOTED.
DOWNLOAD LINK :- MOD EDIT: link removed
IT ALSO WORKS FOR MANY TABLETS AND PHONES..
ALL THE BEST!!..

OK Please @mrjraider you by yourself close the thread. Cause I can't do it myself...
THE THREAD IS CLOSED...
The fact that this is an executable application is making me think it's fake most root creators like @DooMLoRD use a batch file for rooting this executable is perfect for hiding malicious apk's
I rooted my device via this option, but my phone decided to randomly reboot every now and then, so had to go back to stock and root via doomlords method, No problems for me now
But yea this thread/links need to be removed as its not 100% safe to use this method

If you don't know what the software does then please do not share it.
This software has been shown to record imei numbers and send them to a remote server.
As of receiving this from Kingo
Hey, Merry Christmas!
Once we received your letter, we realized the seriousness of this whole IMEI issue and we removed it from our code right away.

Hi All,
We'll be sending out a newsletter shortly to anyone who registered with us when they were setting up their MOJO but I thought the community here on XDA would appreciate some early notice. The new firmware release is available now and can be downloaded from this link:
ftp://86.54.116.234/pub/software/mojo/firmware/mojo-signed-ota-MO0202-WW.zip
I recommend downloading directly on MOJO so it goes straight into your Downloads folder. It's then simply a case of running the Software Update app in your All Apps view, selecting the 0202 update and then clicking Upgrade.
As I've mentioned on a few other threads this will remove Paul's Modaco Root Mod, but you can then reapply the mod back once the update has finished.
The main feature this update adds is Over The Air update capability so manual updating won't be required in future. It also addresses the bug with Bluetooth keyboards where the onscreen keyboard keeps appearing, along with a couple of other Bluetooth tweaks.
Awesome. Will update mine tonight after work, then reapply the MoDaCo Mod. Let you know how it goes...

I don't understand what that means. Can you be more explicit? When, while using Dolphin, I click on the link provided, I get "page not found". Ditto when I use the stock browser. Have you downloaded an FTP client add on to Dolphin of ???
Did you install ES File Manager, as we recommend in our Getting Started section from the M.O.J.O. link on your homescreen? If not try it and then see if that can handle the download for you when you click the link.

I did install ES File Manager when I initially set up my MOJO. At some point since then, I "updated" to version 2.4.9.8 (Aptoid notified me that an update was available if I recall correctly). Given your instructions, I went back and checked the version available from Google Play, which is 3.1.0.1. I uninstalled 2.4.9.8 and installed 3.1.0.1, and tried the URL you provided again, and now it is downloading (extremely slow download speed BTW - ~60Kb/s).
I read somewhere recently that Asian cultures enjoy ambiguity in their instructions. Whether that is true or not, I do not know. I however, detest ambiguity. If MCZ ever hopes to make MOJO ready for the masses, please be as explicit as possible with your instructions. Doing so will prevent a lot of frustration.
PS: Thanks for your help!
just use the link that is in the mojo setup app on your homepage it doesn't dl 110 its the link with new firmware

Downloaded the update and installed it per the previous post, but knowing that the update can be accomplished using the update firmware link contained in the mojo setup app is good to know. Thanks!
The explanation from the entrance post may confuse some people.
It's not a must to download the firmware directly with the M.O.J.O.
You can download the update with your computer at the regular way and put the file on a sdcard.
It should be listed in the update tool, if you start it.
You only need to choose it and answer the dialogue box.
Hi
When i clik on upgrade, android shutdown and never restart.
Are you running the file off the MOJO internal memory?
If youre doing it via USB, plug the thumb drive into the USB 3.0 port (if you plug it into the USB 2.0, it won't work).
try to force, it s work
Thank you
Considering NVidia decided to make their naming scheme wonky as all hell after 3.0, I'd like to set up a post that will help users capture the download links when a new OTA is released. This will help all users get a direct link to NVidia for their devices' OTA as well as help me with my OTA library.
Capturing the Download Link
You must have ADB installed to do this
1) Open the "system update" application on your tablet but do not tap "download"
2) Open up a command prompt on your computer and type "adb logcat" but do not hit enter
3) Plug your tablet into your computer. Once your tablet is fully connected and recognized, proceed to step 4
4) Hit enter on the command prompt. As soon as you do that, tap "download" on your device
5) After a few seconds, unplug your tablet
6) Search the command prompt for the download link or upload a text file with the text from the command prompt
You will need to do this twice. Once for the incremental OTA and once for the full OTA. Between downloads, you will have to "clear update data" to clear the first OTA you downloaded. Both "Clear update data" and "Check full update" can be found in the options menu on the system update application.
Please, if you see that the links for your device were already captured, do not make a second post about it.
I really do need the help of the community here as I do not own all 3 versions of the tablet. I appreciate the help as this will allow me to keep the library of OTAs updated.
??
I finally get to revive this thread!
I've been able to acquire the RoW and WiFi OTAs for 4.0, can anyone help with getting the NA LTE link?
Love the Mega site for OG. You run one for K1 as well?

I'm thinking about it. I'd have to rely on others for the download links however.
Post-related: I'm looking for the US LTE link whenever that comes around.

You might consider following the thread All Things K1 [sb_na_wf] as the ROMs for that device have mirrors in that thread as well as some K1 specific caveats in dealing with TWRP and other custom recoveries.

I sent you a pm that should help you get the download files URLs (and thus the files). Shoot me a reply via PM if you have any questions.
