Boosting Handset Volume - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hello everyone...
Was just curious if anyone knew of a way to boost the volume coming from the ear piece on this phone? I have the I9000M.....
I have some hearing loss and find that the volume is a tad too low and I am constantly having to ask people to repeat themselves.... before you say it... yesssss, I have used the volume button...
I was reading the thread on the using the service mode app to change the ear phone audio... thought there might be something in there...
Thanks for your help in advance.

How to improve sound quality out of speaker??

Is there any fix to make sounds from x10 louder ?? i'm sure that current "max" volume isn't max in fact. Check out default ringtones, they sound louder than music played in mediascape.I'm wondering if music player which could boost the volume of music exist...
What firmware are you running? is your phone rooted?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
New firmware is the solution, 020.

I use R2BA020 firmware...I haven't rooted my x10 yet...
when I set my own MP3 as a ringtone, its sounds much quieter than default SE ringtones... so defaults are simply created louder ... I'm wondering if root access could change sound drivers to make the speaker play louder

Sorry, but the new 020 doesn't fix the low volume at all. In my pocket the X10 is still unrecognizable "loud"
I really start thinking it's a hardware issue and cannot be fixed :-(

IN Call Volume is still low, if you are coming from Nokia or Samsung, you will feel too low.
With Earphone, it is great. Loudspeaker is normal.
Still o ideas... :-( previousely, I has got Xperia X1 and for it there was fix made and it really played louder..... I know that x10 is different platform, but I' sure that root access will help us to hear more

I too am sufferring from low volume on the phone. I particularly notice it when I am on a call without earphones. Haven't used the earphones yet. This was the case before I rooted. I have 020 + root and it is still the case like someone else in this thread wrote. Would be glad to find out if this can be fixed.
PS: coming from a NOKIA N95
If you change the gain on the /system/etc/AudioFilter.csv file on a rooted ROM it should change the volume/make the sound a little more distorted. There should be some info online about that.
maybe try the louder volume hack although its not a free app..
Hi
Thanks for your reply.
Actually I'v jus bought my Samsung Galaxy S couple of days back. I'm facing some issues pertaining to battery power and heat problems.
It getting heated very fast and the batter lasts only for about 16 hrs (may be will improve after 5-6 charges).
So Im planning to send it back and change to X10.

There is a certain issue with the incall volume although to me it is not so big problem. Of course I wanted it to be louder. There is no issue about the phone getting hot. That is my opinion and experience so far!
In my opinion, the volume at its highest setting is loud enough for me to hear people while walking through busy Japanese train stations, but then again, it does take some getting used to. You have to hold the handset to your ear in a certain way, or it's kinda miffled.
I never take the phone out of vibrate mode, so I can't comment towards the speaker's volume. Seems on par with the iPhone 4, when it comes to playing music.

Speaker Volume too low

Anyone else think the volume of the external speaker is too low. I litterally struggle to have a speakphone conversation and watching media is disappointing.
Could it just be my phone hardware and needs to be exchanged for a new unit?

I have the same problem. The speaker volume is quite low, especially compared to the headphone volume.
Yes, very low. That has been a little disappointment to me.
Same for me. Do the last update solve this problem?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
hopefully the devs are implementing the volume hack in the custom kernels.
Download volume+(sound boost)
From the market problem solved cost 2 bucks tho worth it

Solution!
Hey!
Cut a long story short, I Bought my neuxs s and was very disappointed with the volume level especially on the headset.
I looked round for 2 weeks for a solution, found one!
INSTALL A KERNEL WHICH SUPPORTS VOODOO SOUND CONTROL!
The sound volume is now VERY loud!
Here is a link to a hybrid kernel, half stock, half Cyanogenmod with Voodoo sound & colour control! its outta this world

Voodoo requires a custom kernel, but it doesn't increase the volume anyway.
But I think it's loud enough, and who watches a movie on their phone?

In call volume too low. Faulty perhaps?

Hi I have had my desire hd for roughly about 5 months, during this time I have noticed my in call volume to be extremely low to the point where I either have to put the phone on speaker or use headphones. I was wondering if I may have a faulty unit or whether any of you was experiencing the same thing. Help plz lol
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
Have you turned it up? When in a call you can increase the in-call volume with vol+ button, and most custom roms give a system wide 15/20% boost that i presume extends to in-call
Hi yeah the volume is fully turned up to the max..and I do not want to root this phone. Someone told me that it could be specifically tmobile who capped the call volume.

My TMobile HD also had crappy sound until I flashed a custom ROM, I think all European HD's have the same issue when using Official ROM. Try this:
When you make a call, press the volume down key until the sound is all the way down the press it straight back up - all the way up, see if that makes a difference...
Hi thanks for the reply, unfortunately my down volume button hardly works strangely enough. I may attempt to just flash a custom Rom after all.

[MOD REQUEST]Volume Increase Mod/Fix

I been searching non stop and asking questions everywhere without getting a step forward, and I know this isn't the right place and way to go about it, but it needed to be done. We need a flashable volume mod. Unfortunitly my rooted N7, is really my wife's N7. So I have to keep it relatively stock. I noticed volume increase app's dont work, and there hasn't been an xloud mod yet. Truth is we NEED a fix to make it louder. PLEASE help with a mod/fix! I can guarantee it'll bring much happiness to a lot of people, and a lot of praise to the dev who makes it happen. I have see a few roms that have volume mods. Problem is I can't run a themed out, badass Rom cause then my wife will realize I did mod hers and she'll flip.....and blame every little thing that goes wrong on me.
I use paid app volume+
The improvement in audio levels is very obvious
Some said this app doesn't work on jellybean but I beg to differ

You might have a defective unit. Someone else was complaining about their speaker volume being quiet even at max volume, but mine gets fairly loud. I don't know if you're looking for ear-splitting volume though.
I think peoples' opinions of the volume are relative. For example, in a quiet environment, mine seems loud. In a room with a lot of white noise (window AC, fan even), it seems to get drowned out.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Would volume+ help raise the volume with head phones/head phone jack? I don't care about the speaker volume, but I recently took a flight on a small plane sitting next to the engines and could barely hear my ear buds at max volume.
It's not defective. It could just use a little boost. My EVO 3d needed the same treatment, xloud mod plus volume+ app was the perfect combo. Basically like u called it, seems ok most of the time but gets drowned out easily. Volume+ has a headphone and Bluetooth boost....if the app really works on JB.

Increase volume

Is there anyway to increase with the S5 thru headphones? I used to use DSP manager with my old phone and it made a world of difference... Also is there anyway to get better signal. There are times I have 1x signal but my phone wont do anything thru the internet..
Bump anyone?
Check the themes and apps thread thought I saw a mod in there. I personally changed my settings in (mixer paths) with root browser.

You could use viper and use AGC to raise the volume. Though I seem to remember an actual volume boost. But then it seemed to disappear. You can also use an EQ as a pre-amp. If it does not have a gain slider just boost all the frequencies the same amount. Start with +3db with your volume low and then bring up your volume. You got to be careful to not overdrive the preamp stage so go slow. If it does start distorting you can pull the bass frequencies to sacrifice some bass for volume. Bass frequencies take the most power so small changes can get you some more headroom.
If you have hard to drive phones you could get a cheap/small DAC. If there aren't already there will be volume hacks coming.
Have you tried anything from the Play Store for more volume?
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Broadley1: what do i do? What is the mod called? Im on stock S5
ezas: I havent tried the playstore yet. Figured i would ask here before I bloat my cellphone more than it already is.. Would really appreciate it if there is a app or some tweak to boost volume as it seems somewhat low compared to my old HTC EVO
If you are not rooted you can't use viper ?
Just search on volume in the play store. If you need it is not boat is it.
I used my headphones for music yesterday and it was plenty loud at 1/2 volume.
Light bulb just went off. Sound alive has an EQ. As I said just boost (each slider) them all a little bit at a time.
Give it a try and I'll subscribe to this thread.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
ezas: what do you use to get it loud enough at only 50%? I just checked sound alive & the EQ is literally all the way up on everything. However, i think that EQ is only for the music player right? Its not for incoming calls ?
Yes that's true. Sound Alive is only going to help music. LOL I didn't really think that through.
I haven't been playing with my phone much so I can't offer much help.
Is it volume for speaker, headphone or both.
And what do you men by volume at 50%?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
In your reply you said at 50% yours is plenty loud thru headphones. I mainly care about the volume thru headphones & when making calls but increasing speaker volume would help too for incoming calls. I wish there was something as effective as the DSP app I used to have but was only useable thru root...
Root is SUPER EASY on this phone. I used it in the car today and I had to turn it all the way up but at that level it was driving my car stereo fine.
What headphones do you have? Are they considered 'hard to drive'?
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The headphones I have worked fine with my old HTC Evo 4g however I needed to be rooted & tweak the eq curves under the app called DSP Manager. Without this app the sound was also pretty low on my old phone. Ezas what ROM are you using on the S5? If the phone bricks or something goes wrong will verizon void the warranty if I need to bring it in?

Don't worry about the phone. If after you root and run into a problem or need to take the phone back to Verizon you can easily recover and take it back to stock by using method in the following thread. [SOFTWARE] [GUIDE]***Odin Back To Stock*** R… | Verizon Galaxy S 5 | XDA Forum
