Ive been having a lot of force closures with any rom I installed. Recently...
Tried sarky... essential and now even doc.
I've installed stock and flashed from there... anyone have the same experience?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Are you installing the wipe version?
yes thats what i selected in the online kitchen.
usually happens when a calls ends... a message pops up saying
i have always used themes... android black and steel blue 3.0...
could a theme cause this issue?
Try a vanilla no theme rom .
jje
Did you also include "Memo" app in your ROM when you generated it in Doc's Kitchen?
More info in this post (was just finished writing it).
I take it you did a factory reset after flashing? Always do that it cleans things up nicely

The Phone.apk depends on the TouchWiz framework, so what has Memo to do with it?

Heh, you're asking me that?
I have no idea, it just depends, that is all I know.
PS: I do not have TouchWiz installed only LauncherPro and nothing else!

You may remove apps that require /system/framework/twframework-res.apk such as the launcher, but not the framework itself.
This rom has been pulled till team cooper and if team cooper choose to continue it.

This is probably faster.
EDIT: This is DEFINITELY faster!
And no, just flash this. But make a Nandroid backup first, wipe all data, wipe cache partition, wipe Dalvik cache, flash this ROM, happy days =]

no, it should be fine from any rom. in terms of perfomance this rom is lightning fast. its barebones so its not got anything slowing it down. but thats at the expences of features, no youtube, spare parts and stuff like that. just really basic. music, gallery, mms, browser and things like that are included. all standard phone apps, but no extras. its a base to build on but works fine as a day to day rom.
just a question, is there google talk? Without it android market doesn't work isn't it?
umm .. wont not having tweaks slow the phone down ..?
It is safe to flash directly to this rom if my existing rom is Behrad's CM7?

Hello!
I recently rooted my Desire Z because of the sense restarting issue on the official gb rom. Started off ok with Virtuous Sense but it started randomly restarting the phone quite often - a few times a day. Tried fresh wipe with no apps, no luck. So installed old official 1.84 Froyo (not greedy, just want a working phone with Sense) rooted by rmk. I still get the same problem.
Pretty much ruled out a rogue app.
Can anyone suggest anything?
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
So it's the whole phone restarting ? Could be a loose battery. Try wedging a little bit of paper (perhaps folded a few times ) in between the top end of the battery and the case, to try and make sure it keeps contact.
Sent from my Desire Z running CM7.
Thanks for the reply. The battery seems tight and it's only started happening since I rooted though.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I had this happen every day before I rooted. It has happened after from time to time but mostly on Sense-based ROMs.
I don't know if it's coincidental but at least for me on MIUI and CM it seems to happen less frequently (maybe once every second week).
hey bro that used to happen to me alot too
in my experience it only happened to me on the original rom and on cyanogen 7 rom. try the wiping everything and using different type of rom like maybe miui or something that is not sense to see if it helps.
hope i could help
Thanks for the replies. Have done a clean wipe of virtuous sense and it has yet to restart. If it does, I will take your suggestions and try a completely different Rom - though I will miss friendstream!
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Nope. Keeps happening. Gonna try miui but surely there must be something I'm doing wrong here. Open clockwork, choose Rom and select clear data, cache and davik. Anything else required?

you first flash the rom and then wipe data, cache & dalvik?
...i would suggest to wipe before you flash the rom
and you could also use superwipe (flash it through recovery):

In Clockwork, you make the selection to flash the ROM, then it asks if you want to wipe. But the wipe actually does occur before the ROM flash. That is what the OP is talking about.

ah ok... so he doesn´t boot into recovery and wipes manually sry for misunderstanding, but superwipe is a good idea anyway....
Thanks for replies. Yes, wipe takes place before rom install. Installed miui.us. Very nice, but same problem. There must be something I've done. Anybody any ideas?

The only other thing I do when installing a fresh rom is fix permissions in rom manager... worth a try I guess
Which version of cw recovery do you use? you could try to install a older one (3.0...)
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I use the newest version. 5.0.2.7 I think.
Did the fix permissions thing and no crash so far. Will repost tomorrow see how it goes.
Many thanks to everyone for all the suggestions.

Aaaarrrggghhh! Worked fine all day. Put it in my pocket when I got home from work. Took it out, pressed the power button and it turned on! It only ever happens when it's turned off. I've never had it reset when in use.
Any other suggestions?

I tried to flash the kernel on a ICS 4.0.3 - CM9 italian ROM by entering ROM's initrd.gz into initrd-custom kernel directory, I did wipe cache partition and wipe Dalvik cache and flashed with these parameters :
YES - NO2way rec;
NO - sense or ICS;
YES - for install as step 2 choise;
NO - for install rom only for ICS;
YES - MAGLDR;
YES - Install Busybox;
YES - Install VPN fix;
YES - Install Zram virtual swap
but the phone got stuck going to open any app (I tried with ilmeteo.it with gmail and quick system info, but just started the app screen remained locked and the phone was restarted after about 30 "of freeze).
I also tried to flash using the zip file directly as issued by Dorimanx (after wipe cache partition e wipe dalvik cache) with the same result.
Is the kernel incompatible with ICS rom or I wrong to insert some parameters?
Thanks
P.S. I still can't post in "HD2 Android NAND Development" section

Depending on what rom you use.
Choose ics init in script or replace one in the zip file with yours and select that one while flashing.

The recovery log is not showing a issue.
You need to take a logcat when the issue happens while running your rom.

I did the obvious measures. There is no headphone thing in the corner. Sound works with headphones though. I've flashed some different rooms and wiped everything trying to fix it.

Do a full wipe by going into recovery> backup and restore option> click toggle backup and restore of internal storage(/data/media), Then back to main menu, click mount and storage menu > format /data. Be warned, this will erase and delete everything on you tablet, therefore you need to flash some ROM afterward.
