Possible keyboard bug? - Galaxy S I9000 General

Over the last few days i've had what appears to be a keyboard input bug occur twice.
The first time it happened was in messaging and the second time in the browser.
What happens is I end up with a couple of characters in the text that cant be edited or deleted. They can't be selected and if I try and delete them it just deletes the characters behind. The only way to get around it is to exit input field and start again.
Has anyone had anything similar? By the way i'm using Swype if that makes a difference?

Text entry deleting previous word

Hi everyone.
I've searched the forum for a while but I can't find any mention of this problem, so...
When I'm typing in text (in my Niki, but should apply to all Touch Keyboard-using devices) using non-XT9 mode and the Touch Keyboard, the word I'm typing is automatically selected as I type. This means that when I hit space at the end of the word, the whole word is replaced with a space. Kinda useless, huh.
I've dug through the input options and none of them appear to fix this issue. Why does the phone do this and is there any way to stop it?
I have the same problem while writing on the screen. The solution is typing slower (at least remember to wait a few miliseconds before pressing "space" key). and voilá!
I got fed of it and started typing with the physical keyboard with xt9 on

auto abc/t9 selection based on program/field

in most situations my niki defaults to t9 which is what i want it to do. (hardware keyboard)
In a couple of situations/places to type it defaults to abc mode eg in internet explorer address bar.
It also used to do this when writing a contacts name in the to field of a blank text message. This meant i could enter a couple of characters and then scroll down the contacts which appeared at the bottom of screen.
Since hard resetting and adding m2d last week it now defaults to t9 in the above situation. Anyone know a way of getting it to default to abc in this field.
It's a fairly minor annoyance but it used to work so there must be a way of making it happen. Is there a reg change i can make or something.
I'm running official htc wm6.1 rom with m2d build 21 on, and not a lot else.
Thanks
Dan
Kind of solved this - realised that I'd upgraded ezInput to rc2 (in order to work with opera) and thats what had caused this to stop working.
Downgraded again and it works as described above again.
Not too bothered as i didn't like opera that much in the end.
Main annoyance with downgrading again is that I dont seem to be able to add words less than 4 letters to the custom dictionary. This was fixed in RC 2
Anyone else experience this problem/ now of a fix.

phonepad texting doesn't remember words

Hi,
has anyone noticed (or maybe not having the same problem as me) that when using phonepad in T9 mode and writing messages, it doesn't remember the words that you have selected.
for example HE uses the same letters as IF, now...on my old HD, if I typed HE and then selected HE from the list, then type HE again and selected it from the list, next time I typed the keys for HE, the phone would remember that I have used HE the most and HE wold be the fist option in the list....I've done this countless time, but HE is still 5th or 6th in the list of words (ID, which isn't even a word is always first)
as a side issue, one of the first things I always do is edit the T9 dictionary to add my name and other words etc following this..the T9 doesn't remember any new words that I add (I thought it as supposed to do this automatically?)
thanks for reading
Same here
I ve turned T9 of due to this
actually it does.
I had this problem before and only a bit of playing around worked.
Basically, you need to go in to text input settings (can be done from the keyboard pop up menu) and turn ALL the XT9 settings on (i think one or two are off by default)
then, when typing something new, simply turn off the t9, write in the new word then tap on it on the suggestions bit and it will save it to your XT9 dictionary.
Bare in mind that for shorter things, it doesnt for some reason.... only really 3 letter words like uni or bro. for these you need to find the xt9 program, open it and add it.
Hope all that makes sense?
Oh and the HE/ID/if thing sorts itself out after you've selected them about a million times. annoying i know but haven't found a workaround for that.
It does it for me. I've very happy with the way T9 learns from me, even to the point where it's suggesting things like usernames and email addresses when I start typing them.

help - spacebar issue in htc messaging

when i type a message in htc messaging the keyboard seems very slow at picking up spacebar presses, and misses them out, so it adds the next word to the end, then adds a space at the end. very annoying.
usiong wm 23542. manila 2.5.2012
rom is fine, for me apart from the space bar, so would rather avoid flashign a new one.
is there a reg tweak or something i can do to enable the phone to register quicker presses? the keyboard works fine on webpages / email ect.
possibly to do with the words it displays as your typing, (is it spell correction, or word correction?) is there a way to remove these from displaying to see if that allows for the messages to write correctly.
I have a issue pretty much the same, spacebar shows its pressed but doesn't always make a space in a message...
anyone else noticed this, or know of a fix?

[Q] Gingerbread SMS dictionary issues

Hello!
I have searched this and found little about it, so I'm gonna ask you about it.
I have LeeDroid HD running Android 2.3.3. I have 2 main issues regarding the sms app: the red dotted line that appears when using words not recognized by the phone (I write my messages in Romanian), and the fact that, when I tap a word in the message (say I typed a wrong character in the middle of it), instead of moving the cursor at that position and allowing me to edit freely, it moves it there, selects the entire word, and presents me options from an English dictionary to choose from as alternatives for the word. When I try to move the cursor back and forth, it navigates the suggestions, and the only way of getting out of them is to tap a white space, then navigating to the needed position with the arrow keys. All the options under Language and keyboard > Touch Input are unchecked (Spell correction, Prediction and Word completion). Am I doing anything wrong? Is it a way to bring back the behaviour of good old 2.2 sms app, or do I need to switch to a custom, less time consuming sms app?
Thank you!
