[Q] how fast is this phone compared to the Droid 1? - Droid X General

im currently using a droid 1 and im not happy with it because it is slow and lags to much when doing things like pinch to zoom in the browser or flipping through my home screens. i am hoping the droid x will be faster and will lag less than the first one, does any one know if the droid x is any faster?

Pinch and zoom is super smooth on my DX. On browser, 3D gallery, etc. I noticed the stock homescreen is a bit laggy when scrolling. But that's blurs fault. If you use a home replacement app like myself (I use launcher pro) it's nice and smooth going between home screens, using the 3D app drawer, and so on. I didn't use the Droid 1 but I did have a Droid Eris. And I can say 100% the DX kicks the crap out of it. I'm loving it.

if u like the d1 u should just upgrade to the d2, same thing as ur d1 just faster and better, and it has a lil less then what the dx has to offer for the same price range.

Dx kicks the d1 but I agree launcher pro plus helps and now that I got the leaked 2.2 it really flys

I came from a droid 1 to a droid x, both awesome phones. If you like your droid, just root and overclock it. I'd recommend a custom rom. If your looking to upgrade the x is awesome.

It's like night and day really. The lag that I used to notice with the D1 doesn't happen on the DX. But, I never had froyo on the D1 so I can't speak in that aspect.

I ran buglessbeast v 0.4 froyo overclocked to 1.25 gzh and quadrant scored 1700's , linpack 17's

Vanilla Android?

Is the Droid X using vanilla Android with some small add-on's and enhancements?
I ask because I am curious about the speed and frequency in which update will be released for in compared to Blur or SenseUI roms.

To me, for the most part, it looks like they have a custom launcher (home screen). Not much more than that. I would say we should see updates later on, Moto seems to be pretty good about this. (Droid1 is seeing Froyo, most Samsung phones for example just get dumped )

Incedible 2.2 and droid x 2.1 browser

So i figured i would take my incredible runnig the 2.2 leak rooted and test the browser against my droid x. So i loaded a couple of pages with and without flash since the DI has full flash with 2.2 and on wifi they were within milliseconds from each other each one faster different times. And my droid x was alot smoother on scrolling web pages then my incredible which i didn't think it would be at first. So my whole point of this is i think once we get 2.2 the X will gain more from it then the DI did just from how its still not any faster then my X is right now.

Thats already a given, the DX is faster then the DI hands down, with or without Froyo... Just the DX leaks the style of Senses IMO.

Droid x Owner Thinking of Trading out to D2, Can u anwser some questions?

I didnt know wether this would be general or because of the "technicle questions" of it it would be under develpoment. ... Dont know.. Any how
I went from a Iphone to taking a dive and trying the g1, i loved it for how much it could be modded and went from that to a eris to the droid x, and i also have a vibrant im selling at the moment, but anyhow.
I am feeling limited by my X and am wondering if the Droid 2 is more customizable or "moddable".
What kind of overclocking speeds have some of you obtained with the D2? I was getting around 2000 quadrant on my Dx until it started feeling like a portable heater and freaked me out.
Is there efuse on the Droid 2?
How good are the Rom's? Any really quick fast stable ones that are in comparison the cyanogen's old ones?
Has any one owned bother DX and D2, and witch would you prefer over the other?
I gues all in all i miss the keyboard and flip factor of my G1. I may just hit the verizon store, but i might piss them off again cause when i got my DX i told them i was rooting and tethering wheter they liked it or not. And you all are probably (vs verizon) the only ones who can really tell me the truth. Because of course to them, tethering wasent possible before..... Funny
The X and the D2 essentially have the same hardware aside from the camera. I personally like the X better. Bigger screen and better camera. Same TI 1GHz processor and 512MB ram and dedicated GPU.
As far as modding I'm not sure. Just got my D2 and its defective so verizon is sending me a new one so I haven't rooted yet. As far as overclocking, I would assume you could get the same results out of the d2 as you would the x since they have the same processor.

I love my d2. The x was just oddshaped. I moved to this from a g1. The hardware from the d2 to x is the same internally. The software is different for roms and such though. I run squidly's fullblur because I don't mind blur and no rom is going to be original code with no flavor. It is unbloated and deodexed. The 8 gig internal is good for program needs and cache. The sd slot is good for all the media you throw at it. Keyboard is solid, but not as spacious as the ally or g1.

True the keyboard could use some work, but its way better than the original droid. The d-pad thing was just hideous, and the keys aren't completely flat.

the main differences between the d2 and dx are the processor, camera, keyboard, and screen size... the dx has the slightly newer on making it capable of 720p encoding... but that could be avoided by getting the d2 global which has the right processor and can be modded for 720p (but still only a 5mp camera)
they are just as mod-able, and yes the efuse is their... however for both the d2 and dx their is an awesome rom called fission (which i use and love) that takes care of getting rid of blur and ads some more of the aosp functionality back into it.
their are other mixed roms if you like blur, for some reason, as well
i have overclocked my d2 up to 1.45, and it ran stable, however im currently running it at stock clock speeds undervolted to gain battery life (still very stable)
i think that while the dx has some better hardware the lack of a keyboard kinda screws it up (not to mention whats the point of having all that screen running at the same resolution as i have mine at) but if you were moving to a d2 go global for the processor... i would underclock it back to 300mhz-1ghz scaling though because it really is just the dx one overclocked out of the box (which just sucks for batterylife) plus you can get it in white so more people than normal will ask you how you like your iPhone
Im pretty sure the x and the d2 have the same processor.

The X has a newer version of the D2's processor and the D2G has an even newer version of the X's which the D2G processor is clocked originally @ 1.2Ghz. It's all available at the motodev website.

Advantages of Desire HD build over regular sense

Hi Guys,
So there are many Desire HD Sense build around now for the HD2. I've tried them few though most of the issues have been sorted out and are smooth also. They still don't feel as snappy as the regular sense and I don't see much advantages over regular sense...the flying animations are also there in MDJ Revolution build....Is it about the extra eyecandy only for which all this hype is...or am I missing something
Regards
Im on froyo hd 4.3 by mdeejay. AND IT ROCKS. Desire HD builds have latest gen sense which is highter resolution(Several elements are smaller so that they fit in the screeen) that Evo and everything just looks better.
For me the bigest advanced of HD builds, is the extended goodies in Browser, and for me is faster than other froyo's.
Well I don't use the inbuilt Android Browser Much...its mosty opera mini for me..becoz its faster and saves bandwidth...
One thing i liked though is inbuilt task list in notification bar...its definitely a cool feature..
The percentage battery bar, keyboard with arrows and revised font size are worth the using of the Desire HD Rom.

for me: 1)lcd density (displays more on the 4.3 inch screen, unlike before...it showed the same as a 3.2" device)
2)htc sense . com
3)customizable (skins, skins, skins!!!!)
3) improved camera
I agree with op, the desire hd builds lag.. This is no fault of the developers as it lags on a DHD...
Personally vanilla android wins my vote.

i liked the desire HD build until the superfast rom i got with quadrant score 2775 :S itz the fastest smoothest i had till now... no lags at all..using 2 memory cards now... one for desire HD one for JDMS ultimate

I like the fact that you can re-order your pages, which I've not seen in any other build (I don't think it's in the Evo build).
When you click home twice, it brings up the pages and if you long-hold on one you can drag it round to re-arrange them.
That's a very nice feature that I'd like to see introduced into other launchers.
I'm with FrAsErTaG though - vanilla Froyo FTW!
^^yes, ordering of pages is nice...but its mostly a one time thing...atleast for me..so once its set...its all set...
Funny, I'm not able to see higher pixel density or such...its appearing exactly like sense clean which i used earlier...i'm on core droid HD v0.2 btw

[Q] Graphical Accelerations

Hi. I just came from the DROID Eris, and I was using the ROM FroSHEDYo v10. It had some very good graphical accelerated effects, better than just the stock Froyo. I was wondering if I could get those accelerations, because they looked so cool. I'm currently on a DROID 2 with a rooted stock ROM.
I came from the eris as well though I never used froshedyo or the accelerated graphics. I do know that the liberty has some good transition animations, and I think a couple other roms do as well though I'm not sure which ones,
The graphics on the droid 2 are far superior to the eris anyways.

Fission 2.5.7 has a Gingerbread transitions update that you can download. I'm using it, and it's pretty nifty (and super smooth).
