Nova Kicks Ass

Well including three demo of Nova in 3.70 sucked me in. I paid the $5 because this game is really cool!

I agree. I was pleasantly surprised by both the performance of the game, and the fact that although it may be called "bloatware", in reality it adds minimal to internal storage (most of the data is stored on SD which I don't mind).

I picked it up a few months ago, its pretty bomb. Modern Combat: Sandstorm is absolutely AWESOME too.

Ok so Adam did you install 3.70? Are you rooted? If so did you get your old official copy of NOVA working? Mine won't it just glitches and hangs?
Any answers would be awesome as I can't play NOVA anymore without REBUYING it BOOOO

Yeah gamelofts process of selling is horrible. They need to join the android market. Especially with all the talk on the blogs about them ripping people off. I have been using a titanium restore so I've been ok playing NOVA. I think they right now only offer 90 days that you can redownload aka update. Which is retarded. The games are great but gameloft needs to rethink their android business model quick

As for rethinking their business model I hear you, it's way to hard to get support or help with these issues from them. Not to mention even finding the games is so backwards its almost in opposite land...

Yeah. I wanna say android central (maybe phandroid....cant remember) ran an article today on them charging people numerous times, etc. If they wanna be a serious player why arent they on the market? As easy as it should be, gameloft comes off as shady. And yeah, their stuff is a pain to buy, download, and install. You would think they would wanna cure that issue. Joining the market would do that and alleviate everyones fears of being scammed.

oh darn it, sorry for getting your hopes up. the article was misleading and so was the description. my bad

I don't think they charge you if you activate the demo copy after having already bought it. I got NOVA back in late july, and just activated the demo. It said purchase, but didn't go through the normal process, so I don't think I paid for it. I'll try to post back here in a month when I get my next bill to confirm, but I'm pretty sure that if its the device that you already activated on, it should be free to activate it. It definitely plays better now that its integrated.
I love all the Gameloft games except for Asphalt 5. Its not a really good racing game. Its ok, but not well optimized for Android. I just got Need for Speed Shift when it came out on the Market on the 16th. So far, its awesome! Really snappy great graphics, and really good racing experience.

Can you use wiimote with these games?
On cm 6 of course. I know it doesn't work on sense.

It's not the EVO that's doing it. All the processing is done on OnLive's servers and it is essentially video being streamed to the EVO. Same thing goes for OnLive's set-top boxes.

I know but they use the Evo as a demostration and im pretty sure is an HTC app so I believe it wont be in the market like all HTC stuff so what I meant if we gonna get the update I mean they already got an Evo doing it mine as well give us the update

Off. Topic Bf3 vs MW3

Sorry this is off topic but what game will you buy or think is better

BF3 will own MW3. I honestly think EA will crush activision this time around. Im a huge COD fan but its just getting old and repetitive man. They've reused the same engine for the past 4 games, changed maps, and added new guns. BF3 is going back to original Battlefield where there's about 60 vehicles and its going to be epic. I've owned every cod and bf but this year cod is going to sit out because ill be playing gears 3, assassins creed, and BF3. Plus im not stoked about mw3 charging a monthly fee for premium content....not at all excited to hand out more money.

I have really high expectations for BF3 I hope they bring it. Many people seem to be cheering for bf3 because stupid cod is turning into a paid service. That just doesn't sit right with me; money is the problem its just why should I have to pay MORE money when we shell out enough as it is. We buy a game for 60, buy all the extra map packs and etc by the time were done with the game we've invested about 120-150 in it; not forgetting we pay 60 a year and 9 a month for Netflix lol.

Im still playing Bad Company 2, COD has gotten really old....and honestly I have every COD game, but the only ones I have played to the end is Modern Warfare 1 and 2, the others got too boring for my to continue

story mode and special ops is great on the older mw2. mw3 looks like its going to be great in those 2 thngs, but the multiplayer is probably going to be the same ol same ol.

But between the 2, I think I'm going with MW3. Battlefield isn't bad, but it's too slow for me. I like COD because it's a fast paced game where I can run around. BC2 is okay every now and then if I'm playing it with some buddies, but not fun on my own.

Black ops uses the IW engine like MW2, WAW, MW, and COD2. Only difference, the version in mw2 uses updated assets and has texture streaming. Which the whole IW engine is based off of the ID Tech 3 engine. But I'm in agreement that Black Ops sucks, and MW2 doesn't. I still play MW2 on Steam, alteriwnet, and 360 today.

Actually they do use the same engine to build cod since mw1 all the way to black ops. Of course each game has certain trade offs: black ops (huge maps, bigger artillery, etc = weaker graphics) MW2 ( small/medium maps, weak killstreaks, etc = better visuals)
MW3 is using a refined engine as well as BF3 is using frostbite 2 vs Bad company 2 used frostbite 1.
It's called call of duty elite and its a paid premium service you pay a monthly fee. Users who pay the monthly fee will get access to way more content than users who just play the free cod. Google it but here's a video...

You don't have to sign up for COD elite, that's just a stats page and first for downloadable content for free.

Yes cod elite is a monthly subscription fee dude. There's no way im paying a monthly fee to play something that should be free as it has always been. You still have the option to play free of course but if you pay the fee's you get maps, dlc, way more content than free users get, social network services, the theater mode which lets you upload/share entire games, and many things I cant name. So basically they figured they would take all the free services and charge a monthly fee and watch all the millions of users pay more out of pocket. Its a brilliant marketing scheme but it sucks for us. Based on what people said about elite at E3 is that cod is going to become lame unless you pay the fee's. Activision is forcing us but i guess ill be one less user they would care about lol. Im moving to BF3.........screw that man.
If you dont pay the fee's you cant enter tourneys and competitions etc. You'll just be playing with the 5 year olds who yell the N-WORD in you ears and scream justin beiber songs during the matches lol

You gotta luv the Free to Play business model. Give a complusive gamer an addictive game like COD, but make them pay to get the best stuff. They'll lose some players, but the players with serious addiction issues (playing 8+ hours a day, and they're alot of them) will fork over the money. Pretty brilliant idea, time to buy more Activision shares.
But back on topic, I'll probably buy both. I've loved the BF series back to BF1942 but you can't deny that COD just gives you that instant MP gratification and they're finally adding a Horde-type game mode to MW.

My son plays this way too much, so I had to check out the video. Gotta work on my excuses for the upcoming extra fees, but that video actually cracked me up! Can't really say nickle and dime ya anymore, these stupid fees add up a lot faster. That's where it is though, all about the green back and squeezing the milk out of that damn turnip!

I've had a look in market and the xperia play launcher, the games there are pretty basic and I don't like them that much, they cost too much. i was just wondering if their is a site out there that will allow me to download the best xperia play games for free.

I'm sure there is, but asking about warez here is only going to get you banned and have you ever though that the games might be basic because of people like you? what developer would want to make a game, if people are just going to steal it.

There are no decent games and even if there were good ones the controls will suck balls, the touch pads are a joke and who in their right mind would pay 1-10 bucks for a game that can be beat in an hour? I would just stick with fpse

Mass piracy has not stopped successful games from selling in any platform. The truth is that games are basic because we're not paying premium prices. A price range from 0 to 5 euro a pop won't buy you inventive stories, memorable voice acting and intricate, long gameplay. It will buy you Cut the Rope, Battle Bears or Eternal Legacy.

Too expensive? These games are about £3 at most, with a lot coming under that. The games are good, but the uptake of the play has been a bit slow so devs wont bother optimizing for it! Its down to Sony to get them to port their games across.
IMO the best games you can get are the ones that are pre installed on the play and Dungeon Defenders, other than that FPSE and the ~oid range are your best bets

I agree. The majority of people who pirate would likely not buy the movies/games/software anyway. I'm sure some would but most wouldn't. And the games’ being basic is because the devs are developing for the lowest common denominator which is the crapy touch screens. If we do get good Play Only games they will likely come from anyone with a steak in the Xperia Play.

Not sure what £3 is in Canadian but the ok games are $5-$7 in Canada. Not worth the chance if you ask me.

There are alot of good games WITH good controls! I'm in love with Rainbow six, Battlefield 2 and Backstab. But for the most of the time, I play Zelda OOT on N64oid, works like a charm

I love my xperia play i got so many games on it its awesome gameloft ones and other ones to. The touchpads work with so many games that it makes u feel like its not a phone but a console. Thats what i love bout it.

The touchpad/analog controls in some of the games are implimented in different ways. Some are true analog, and others are swipe. Some people like it one way, others like it another. I honestly wish they would allow an option to switch. However, there are plenty of decent games available for this phone, that although they may cost about US$5, that isn't terribly much. A coffee, or a game. even if the game is short, you would probably reach the same amount of enjoyment time from it.
If all else fails, there are some decent to good emulators out there and you can play all the old games you have from back in the day. NES, SNES, Genesis, Master System, NeoGeo, PSX/PS1, N64, etc. I think there is even some MAME goodness floating around for arcade carts/ROMs.
If you can't find a good game that works decently with the controller in that whole huge mess, then I suggest that maybe your criteria is set too high, and you would have problems finding suitable items on any platform at that high of quality requirement at that low of a price.

You don't have to say that the phone is crap, useless, the controls sucks and so on, because they don't. It's enough to say "I don't like it, it doesn't fits my needs". Just saying.

They aren't free but they are cheaper direct from gameloft than through the V-Cast store. Just pick your game, pick R800x and scan the barcode

I bought one on saturday from Phones4U £130, there are a few games free for it -Dead Space, sims3 , battlefield- the pad makes it a joy to use, I did have a desire,and chunky fingers meant using the touch screen for gaming was awkward. Although there is some bloatware that cant be removed this phone has been an excellent purchase for that price it runs all the usual Android apps,build quality is ok and you will need a bigger memory card -8GB isnt enough IMO- I havent used the music player yet so I cant comment on that side(despite having 300+ songs on it) best get to a shop and try it

Anyone you talk to who has this phone will tell you how much they love it. The emulator capabilities alone are worth the phone. Having a phone that acts portable PS1/SNES/NES/Genesis/GBA WITH the gamepad...c'mon it doesn't get any better than that!

Ya this phone kicks ass big time!! I love my play always on it.. Just got fifa 12 and it's only for the play at this moment. IMO you should get this bad-boy..

Xperia play runs n64 emu very well.ive downloaded 20 roms and with the controls after you configured them wow.amazing thing is!they all run very smoothly.

You certainly have, I only wanted a new phone and this is easily the best value out there at the £120 (don't forget the £10 christmas day credit that's included). Another £8-£9 for a dock and it's just about perfect. All this before you get to it being a nifty games machine too!
I came from an iPhone and couldn't be happier.

yeah this phone is awesome! sometimes i wish it was dual core but its so fast who cares!

Yeah, I got spoiled by the game pad quick. I can finally play shadow gun and nova the way it was meant to be because it's so much easier to move, look and shoot at the same time now.
Plus being able to play all my childhood games on snes and n64.
This phone really is a one stop shop. Watch movies, read books, web surf, play games...the best phone I've ever owned.
My next phone will definitely have to have a built in game pad.
