For some reason, I am unable to install apps. This issue has occurred with multiple Android builds as well as multiple ROM/Radio combos. I am able to install Android fine and it runs flawlessly on my HD2, but for some reason, I am unable to install apps.
Market apps - Downloads fine, but once it starts to install, I get the triangle in the notification bar and it says "Installation unsuccessful".
Manual install of apps - I can download apps with the browser, but once I try to install, it says "Out of space" "App could not be installed. Free up some space and try again."
I have reformatted my SD card, tried the unmounted it, reinstalled Android, wiped my phone... everything. I just can't figure this out. Looking at my phone's storage, I have...
SD card - 6.2GB free (nothing but Android on it)
Internal - 455MB free
Outside of this issue (which is a big one), Android is running beautifully. Please help.
I don't get this issue unless I try to mount my SD card. Are you using automount.?

Nope. I checked that.
I'm actually completely lost on this issue. I've been an Android guy since the release of the G1 and I'm very familiar with it. I just can't figure it out.
Update...
Just loaded up Xcelsior's build and was able to install a few apps from the market, but after a few, I got the install error and was "out of space".
If I remove apps, I'm able to install again. It looks like I have about a 12mb limit though. What could be causing this?

I don't want to jinx things, but so far so good.... THANKS!
If all is good than its the Tom you were running for Wm. You may be wondering why that makes a difference but it does some settings in Wm carry over to haret.exe

Yup get this as well for certain apps
Are you using a2sd? If so, do you have space on your SD card?
nope, no a2sd here
I use a2sd with plenty of room on my card. I got this error with Meridian update. Uninstalling and reinstalling solved it.
Try booting into recovery and running other> fix uid mismatches
Try uninstalling and then install.
It happened to me too when I tried to update it. This worked for me.
I'm using a rom based off dc.

it seems that every time i install a new andro build i get more and more issues.
im running chunkyrom with 2.12.50 radio
my first rom was froyostone 1 it ran perfect no issues at all
i installed the HDfroyo and started having the typical andro issues
then i tried mattc leo and it was overall great build but i had even more issues and not as stable as froyostone1
2 days ago installed froyostone 2 and having a very unpleasant experience with it crashing restarting lagging thewifi and mms and lock screen lagging etc.
note that first froyostone was installed on a card that i didnt even touch.
all the files from blackberry phone were still on it i only ran an error check in windows.
for mattc i completely cleared out the sd card formatted and ran an error check.
and started having issues.
is formatting under PC windows and formatting from winmo makes any difference?
im puzzled why im having more and more issues,
it almost seems like the winmo keeps getting more and more corrupted by the android builds or something like that..
HaRET closes WinMo and modules completely then starts Android... so dont think so..
Anyway a dev can give u a good insight and help you better.
Good Luck

I think that you will find that the only references to past builds will be on the actual SD card used, which is why a complete format of that card is recommended. On the root of the card will be folders created by your Android installation, some begin with a full-stop, e.g.: .Mail, .footprints, but there are others that do not follow that convention. If you do not want to do a complete format of the SD card, you may want to do a screen shot of the card prior to install, so that you can compare before and after, then before a new subsequent Android installation, delete the new files and folders created.
Some people are experiencing the problems you describe with this PPP version, but the Dev was aware of this and has posted a fix,so it may be better for you to try the RMNET rootfs. Hope this helps.

Hi...
Did I understand it right?
You bott from WinMo to Android and after some time the phone reboot?
Which EnergyROM do you use?
Which Android?
Many regards
yes and thank for the fast reply and
energy .sencity
and most like froyo, hyperdroid, and coredroid and others
How long does it work until it reboots?
Did you try to reformat your SD Card with 64kb cluster size? That should help if I read that right. Otherwise try another SD.
This can be read 2 ways. Either he is having reboot problems or he is complaining that when he reboots his phone he is back in windows mobile

no i know it reboot back to window mobile my problem is that it does it on it own and yes i formated the sd card more then once and it differ something 10min or something right when it starts up
I use to have problems with my sd card. Once I got a Class 10 SD card, all my problems was solved. The original class 2 16GB was just too slow. Especially when it goes standby.
Now everything runs super fast.

Maybe you should use this tool to format you SD Card. Yes it is a german page, but u will understand the important things like the big "download" button and the download Server button on the next page
I use this, too. And it works for me since a couple of years for USB Sticks and SD Cards
So I have a modded HTC HD2, which will reboot by itself while Im running an app or on the internet browsing. Sometimes just randomly, I have had this current configuration on it since I got the phone. But this problem is happening more often now. Sometimes when it reboots I have to go through hell to get android to bootup again. Please direct me in the right direction to fix this, or if there is a better configuration of mods I could change to.
Android System 2.2.1 (FRG83) Nexus One

did you try the usual "format the sd card" method? if yes, try a different brand of sdcard. It may not seem obvious but sdcard have been found to effect just about everything on hd2 android including battery life, lag, SOD, phone call, etc.
Also, what radio version are you using?
I cant remember the radio? Where could I go to find it? Would unmounting my sd card cause me to have to recopy android to the card again?
I've experienced all the issues you have talked about. it drove me nuts. I have spent a lot of time reading in the forums here. I also, tried lot of different winmo roms and radios as well as droid builds. Many told me it was hardware issues. My gut feeling was always it was software related to droid. Most of it has gone away now. I did a task 29 and it didn't help cause the issues still took place. I reformat my sd card everytime i switch builds. Im using energy rom 21683 extreme from the 5th NOV. using 2.12.50.02_2 radio. droid build mdeejay froyo revolution 1.5 with is S2 smartass kernel that i download from his thread in hd2 droid development. Just stay with it and keep reading these forums and trying different combos. i hope some of this was helpful.

The radio can be seen when you first power on your phone...it's something like 2.10.xxx.xxx. The latest version is 2.15.50.xxx. Be very cautious when upgrading radio. Make sure you get the proper version that is meant for your phone.
Unmounting sd won't delete anything from your sdcard. Formatting will delete everything.
If you have trouble, try a new sdcard. That's my best advice. If that didn't help, try a new rom or update radio.
I had the same problem, I solved it by installing a different WinMo rom (went from Chucky to Energy standard). I'm using latest 2.15 radio and MDJ's revolution 1.4 android rom. I didn't format my SD card since it's pretty much full and I haven't formatted it for a while now. Did delete all the . folders tho.
I solved this problem by doing a re-install of my android bulild and not updating the kernel or installing autokill/task killer apps. This also solved my battery life issues, strangely. I can't draw many conclusions from this but at least it's something to try. I'm using bluetopia sense build.
I have had the same problem for a while and after several different android/kernel trials I have come to the conclusion that it's a kernel issue for me. So I can't use the modded OC kernels, cause I keep having random reboots. I just ported stock evo kernel (linux on wince) and that solved the problem for me, although other kernels (e.g mdj Sx) are smoother and faster...

Hi there,
I'm having trouble with the "Partition SD Card" function in the Rom Manager application. It goes through recovery and does everything successfully, but after I install an application it installs to the phone. I checked in the "Settings>SD and Phone Storage" which showed a smaller amount of memory after having installed the application. I installed the application "Apps to SDcard", and when I run it, it tells me "Error, either an incorrect ROM is installed or your SD card is not formatted correctly". I don't know what I did wrong, I have my SD card formatted at FAT32, and my ROM is the NeonMod Rom. I will have a link to it after. I tried the Apps to SDcard app after using the Rom Manager to partition my SD card at, 256MB Ext size, and 32MB swap size. I have a 2GB card, and it's the one that came with my phone (Sandisk) if that helps. Thanks for the help guys.
Here's the link to the ROM I currently have and its description:

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I'm new to this forum. Thanks.
It might not be a fast enough card for a2sd to work.

Nope, the problem is you are running an Eclair ROM and the app is not "ext" type of A2SD - it just uses the Froyo A2SD, which uses FAT32 partition to move apps to.
If you install Froyo, this app will work, else install a ROM with A2SD that uses ext partition, it's much better
Thanks, I found a Rom that supports A2SD and uses ext partition, and it works. Just a question though, I used Apps to SDCard to move the apps to the card, but now can't find them. Where can I find them now? LOL. Thanks so much for the help I really appreciate it, this is the current Rom I got that supports A2SD just in case anybody wants:

Not sure about this one, but why don't you use Froyo ROM?
Well if it's better then I will, I don't know much about Froyo but can you please give me a Froyo Rom if it's better? Android 2.1 version though. Thanks.

It depends... Do you like sense? You can find a list of roms in stickies in Development!
Start there, but the list is not very recent. I'm currently running BlaY0's Rom, try that one if you like sense ;-) CM6.1 is an obvious choice if you don't...
Good luck!
and btw: Froyo is faster and alltogether better
Okay thanks I'll give it a try. And yes I like Sense a lot. Thanks again!

You cannot have Froyo AND Android 2.1 at the same time
Android 2.1 = Eclair
Android 2.2 = Froyo
Android 2.3 = Gingerbread
P.S. Move to Froyo
