Hey guys,
I have looked around here and mainly found peoples topics for the Galaxy S i9000T who are from a different country, need different firmware and have differently branded phones, hence this topic:
I have purchased a Telstra branded (AUSTRALIAN) Samsung Galaxy S.
BASEBAND VERS: I9000TDVJH3
KERNEL VERS: 2.6.29
BUILD #: ECLAIR.DVJH3
----------
From simple browsing I have determine 'TEL' or 'DV' just means TELSTRA (and T can also mean this). If looking at 'J' by itself it can be interpreted as OCTOBER 2010 (when i got the phone), but not sure what H3 is....or if it is read as JH3..
My plan is to jump onto a nice compatable version of Froyo 2.2, however I have NO IDEA which is the best and closest firmware to download and in case of any stuff-ups or compatability issues, if i need to claim my phone under warranty, I want to be able to flash back to stock firmware, which is this Telstra JH3 crap, and have no idea where I can find that.
My biggest gripe is nopt being able to have the FREEDOM to remove/uninstall/move certain LOCKED apps despite trying with various android apps and while i'm rooting/flashing, I thought I might as well get 2.2 since the "proposed" release date in Australia for it, and probably likely release by Telstra will be in December, or so I am told...screw that.
Can someone help me and direct me to the most appropriate version of firmware to download and, if available, the original stock firmware (if it has been replicated by anyone with the same phone as me?)
Thanks
RoOSTA
I've PM'd some Aussies to get attention to the post as i have nowhere else to turn to!
currently there are no safe Froyo 2.2 yet
even the original release in Europe got recalled, wait until mid November, then we might finally see some progress
for now just iron out whatever is bugging you with the current fixes, and live happy until Froyo comes out
is that I9000T a 900 band model or 850 band model ?

The Telstra I9000T is a 2100/850 Mhz model.
Yeah, OK...I'll wait til mid November, only a couple of weeks away...
Until then, what can I do to get the best/accurate/most reliable 2.1 (UNBRANDED) that will still work 100% on the 2100/850MHz bands? I want to be able to delete ALL the crap that is apparently "system locked" apps from the phone...
RoOSTA
i have i9000t latin america versión
and i have made this flash "[HOWTO] Froyo FW I9000XXJPM: Upgrade via Odin, Root, Recovery 2e, Lagfix!"
with a unlocked csc from canada
first of all I made a backup with the rom manager, because i cannot find anywhere the galaxy s firmware of my t model
maybe you can do the same
so whats the optus ones? just i9000? funnily enough im on jg3 with optus.. where as the op is on jh3.. my phone was also delivered in mid oct 2010.
So maybe I'll just try rooting the phone to de-brand it (keeping on 2.1) then when a stable official froyo 2.2 comes out, hopefully MID NOV, just update to that?

Rooted the phone using auto method from the tutorial on these boards with ease, installed Titanium Backup which downloaded the latest or most compatable busybox (1.16 for me). I have managed to delete some "locked" apps, but a lot of Telstra's BIGPOND apps remain (downloads, movies, sport, etc) - they are much harder to find when browsing the list appLIST in TBackup - I jsut got the free version, but impressed with how much easier it has been to customise even still, as a branded phone.

@roosta...im a noob, plz can u tellme the step to step guide i soo wanna get rid of telstra apps and i wanna completely debrand the telstra galaxy s phone without installing any lag fixs like voodoo etc, i just want to instal the original eclairs or froyo from samsung for its galaxy s i9000, but im not sure how to go about because i have the 850mhz next g galaxy s from telstra. Can you help me , thanks in advance
Hi mate, as the reply I made above states, i used the galaxy S "root" tutorial,. i havent debranded hthe phone, but i have been granted rights or access to delete specific apps I dont want, so follow that. I won't FULLY debrand the phone only because I havent got the telstra stock firmware to download and REINSTATE at a later date (if i needed to for warranty purposes)
RoOSTA
@roosta, i wud really appreciate if u cud post the link, i cannot find the thread u mentioned in your reply. and secondly any idea when telstra wud be releasing 2.2 for sgs. cheers

Hi mate,
Is there any chance you can upload your stock rom, I stupidly flashed my i9000t without fully understanding the 850mhz network and now I am stuck with a custom rom and no way to access the nextG network.
If there is a way and I just missed something, please let me know.
Kindest regards,
All you need to do is root the phone which you did, and then get hold of Titanium Backup. Use that to uninstall the junk that Telstra pre-installed. But before you do anything use Titanium to make a full Backup just in case. From what I gather your phone is exactly the same as the American AT&T captivate so whatever roms/fixes they use you can use on your phone. If you notice a lot if not all phones from AT&T usa work fine on telstra as they both use 850mhz (NexG rebranding) while the rest of the world like Optus/voda/whoever uses 900mhz. 850mhz is actualy better as it penetrates walls and buildings better but problem is that only 3 Telcos that i know use it is AT&T, Vodafone NZ and Telstra so they can be expensive for data. But on a better note you can use your phone on any network as it also has 2100mhz(very congested) 3G too.
Always willing to help out a fellow aussie here you go mate

So 2.2 out for Optus, but STILL nothing yet for Tesltra for the JH3 firmware and 2100/850 bandwiths!?!
That's ridiculous...
and guys, for stock 2.1 eclair Telstra i9000T firmwares and CSC go here:

Hey Roost,
Just wanted to check in and see whether you had any luck mate? As far as the GTalk thing goes I had absolutely no idea about that, but sounds like your only choice here is to flash back to stock Telstra 2.1 and then redo your modifications and reflash to your custom ROM.
I agree with you completely in that the delay for Telstra updates is ridiculous, but this has always been the case. Even right back to WinMo 6.5 on the TP2 and TD2, they've always been three or four months behind the trend. To best of my knowledge there's still no news on Froyo yet, which is just ****ful.
I'll keep checking your post to see if you turn anything up. Hopefully you do and it's manageable. Good luck mate.

Hey all,
Just updating: As per another thread on this board - Telecom NZ have released Froyo 2.2 available via kies. Using registry, i spoofed Kies into thinking my phone was i9000T from NZ, so have since updated to 2.2 wiuth no issues;
For me, no lag fix needed, swype works perfectly, all gps/maps work fine with accuracy and 850 band fully functional. I'd also recommend doing this ahead of Tesltra AU since i've gone from about 15+ useless LOCKED system banded apps to TWO on Telecom NZ; one being internet and the other for 'account status', so very happy with the recent update...

I think TNZ have pulled their 2.2, at least that's the last update I read a few days ago.
I've got an I9000T as well, and am on Telstra. I've flashed Docs V4 JPU ROM and it's working great on the 850 band.
So it looks like the JPU CSC does support the NextG frequencies
Do you think you might be able to list some of the useless telstra branded apps you removed? im having trouble knowing whats what the way its itemised and named in Titanium Backup.
auldar could you link to the ROM you are using at please.

I had the EXACT same problem m8....use this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918601
Download the patch on your SD card use file manager to install the app....patch the new version. restore your phone to any backup you might have...reboot...your operator will now show and you will be able to make phone calls! I think I spent about 8 hours with this problem last night before I came across that thread. The guy is a life saver!
Hello,
I post this thread, helpless finding a solution..I hope it is not a duplicate..
My uncle bought me a SM-N900 Unlocked Note 3 from Bestbuy Florida, USA. He did not touch the phone till he brings it here, Turkey. When he deliver me the phone i could not use it with my Turkish sim card and i was shocked of course.. I searched for solutions on the net and found some answers about it. Here is (actually are) what i did to overcome;
1) Firstly i rooted the phone and tried the Region Lock Away app from Chainfire, unluckily the app doesnt support my model, i found out from the forums (or it was what i understood)
2) Next i communicated with Samsung Turkey and deliver the phone to Technical Support. After 10 days they gave me the phone back telling that they tried a code to unlock it, but it didn't work so they gave back the phone unfixed.
3) I searched for reliable unlocking sites, tried 4 of them but no result. Now i am also coping with refunds..
4) I take the risk and tried custom ROMs hoping that it would help but it also did not solve my problem as i found out that region lock is not a security system that is bound with the firmware..(as my understanding it is a whitelist that is embedded with the baseband (?) (bios?))
5) The last thing i tried was changing the firmware, i removed the TTT (Trinidad&Tobago) firmware and installed Saudi Arabia Firmware.. But no solution..
Now i have a 800$ phone (not even including the extra fees to register the phone in Turkey…) and not working as a phone...HOW NICE!!
Regards,
P.S. HELP MEEEEE!!!! (((
Gosh it should be working.

Use Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app to check for the CSC code and then download your appropriate firmware.
In the app you can get the info about:
- 'Original' CSC code
- Firmware's CSC code
- Active CSC code
hi all
i was advised by a friend to post my issue on this forum as someone here will always have the answer after searching the net without any luck.
i have a uk model s8 on the o2 network which was originally locked to o2.
so i took it the local market to get it unlocked which the market trader did and it accepted another uk sim
but wont connect to any network now. states emergency calls only, even with my original o2 sim.
i cant even search for any networks. when you try to search for networks by choosing the phone option, nothing happens, just states not available at this time. same thing when you try to choose manual or automatic search.
it accepts any sim now but wont connect to any network.
i thought it may have been barred even though i bought it 2nd hand and had it over 8 months so i checked imei on the net and it comes up clean. so not barred.
went back to market and the street trader said he will flash with firmware to fix. he said it was running latest firmware, android 8.0 dec 2018 G950FXXS4CRLB [december 2018, revB]
but will flash G950FXXU4CRL3 [december 2018, rev3]
but that did nothing. he said he wasnt sure why the phone is not getting a signal and confirmed it was definitely not barred.
he couldnt also understand why you cannot search network, why this option cannot be selected.
so this is where i am.
any help or guidance would be appreciated
regards,
Margaret acey

Did you check IMEI online or wih the original provider sometimes online services don't show blocked imeis I have a US model rooted and sometimes the radio crashes and and have similar issues. I have to reinstall the CP and csc from the firmware files to get it back up. Using the latest Odin and firmware. I assume your on the latest firmware
thankyou for your reply,
i have not checked with network but i have tried multiple websites who offer imei checking services and they all show clean imei.
in respect of firmware,
it was running the latest firmware which was android 8.0 dec 2018 G950FXXS4CRLB [december 2018, revB] which didnt work
then the market trader flashed an earlier version, stil android 8.0 but two weeks earlier version, ending with CRL3 and that has not worked either. so at the moment its on that version.
both these were released by samsung in december 2018 but neither work,
so i dont know what to do.

I would take it back to the individual who unlocked it. It worked before and not after.
yes i did that but he said he did the unlocking and that has worked so is not taking responsibility for the signal. so i have to fix myself.
can anybody offer any help on what to do please.
Does it matter which mode you select? e.g. are you able to choose 2G/3G/4G autoconnect?
My S8 suddenly lost connection to just the Vodafone 3G network in Australia but is able to connect to other carriers on the 3G network fine.

Ok that's not even as far as I got.
I went back one firmware version to the one that I was running before the one that started developing the issue (although it ran fine for a week or 2 after the update) that didn't help.
I forgot if you tried to go back to an older one as well or tried one of the country specific ones. You need to check if you've got the snapdragon or the equinox version though.
Hopefully the other guy manages to fix your issue
Thankyou for your kind words and advice.
I changed firmwares a couple of times all 8.0.0 but no luck.
Ive got a member from this forum currently trying to fix it as we speak. He has made a lot of progress and clearly know his stuff and happy to have his help and assistance so hopefully it will be fixed today so ill keep you updated and let you know how i got on.
Thanks

Can i also extend my thanks to another member named pblim (not sure if i have spelt that right)
Who helped me yesterday to show me how to hide root.
Fantastic help and advice from him. Very kind
Highly recommended member.
So thanks mate.

Margaret.
