Design fault with the Legend alu housing/casing!

In my humble opinion, there is a major design "fault" with the aluminum casing used and it's pretty severe one at that. For me, this makes me think about taking the phone back and getting a refund (yes I can, even after I've used ut).This is the sort of thing Apple would never allow. Now I'm NO Apple fanboy, rather a HTC/Android Phanboy, so hold those horses......
But, ever notice the sharp edge surrounding the top of the HTC? It's quite annoying and prob would get slightly painful in longer conversations.
Now, all they would have to do, was to try the phone and they would notice. It would only take slightly more beveling of the edge. Try holding the phone the wrong way, spreaker to your ear. THAT'S the way an edge should feel against your ear. It's like there's nothing there!

the edge is noticeable and yes it is a annoying but its easy to cope with just dont press it hard against your ear and your fine. What i hate more is the low calling volume in noisy environments its impossible to phone anyone and then the edge does hurt when you try to press the speaker against your ear

Thing is, it shouldn't be like this. It would have been easy to notice this pre-production and it would have been easy to fix. Small things like this ruin a GREAT phone......that and those damn lost wifi signals!

No one mentioned it for a month, so it can't be that bad. Maybe your ear is not compatible with the phone

Perhaps it depends on how you hold your phone to your ear.
The edge doesn't bother me at all.

I totally agree.. its defenetly a sharp edge against the ear.. the phone must be angled differend than my ond magic to be comfortable to "use as a phone" :/

after reading this post i check my legend but this "problem" is non existing. Even when i rubb my finger on the edge there is little to no "sharpness". For me its move along people nothing to see.

Hmmm, I just had a 1hr long phone call and the Legend is noticable uncomfortable to use. The "edge" I'm talking about rests on my ear and it's not painfull, it's just "there" and very annoying. You will naturally move your phone around when you talk and this edge I'm talking about and this makes it even worse.
I pulled out my old Hero and this has a rounded edge (as does the iPhone and EVERY other phone out there) and you can't even notice it when you hold it up to your ear. I'm a nitpicker and I always find small flaws in things I like very much. But I'm considering this is supposed to be a GREAT phone, it should have benn rounded off.
Edge: The edge I'm talking about is the result of a 90 degree angle on the metal where the aluminum has been cnc'd. Once again, hold your phone the other way round and it is MUCH more comfortable to hold against your head, but MUCH worse to use as a phone...

I don't find this an issue at all
the iphone button used to really hurt my chin though
its more healthy for there to be an air gap between the phone and your face in any event
I would also strongly suggest the 1 hour calls you use a bluetooth headset. Its bound to be unhealthy otherwise

My tip to avoid this : stick the screen to your ear instead of the edge.
You can hear as well, but the contact is much smoother with the flat surface.

First Impression of the evo 4g!

My first impression of the evo 4g when I played with it at Sprint. I was the first one in the store so I was first to use their demo unit. The unit they had was not tied down to a table and a chord. The rep was holding it in his pocket. Being first means no one has been able to mess it up(unless reps did) before I got a hold of it. These were my impression coming from the HD2.
1) The back feels more rounded. It feels more like I was holding the iphone 3gs where the back cover is curved. The hd2 feels more sharp after holding the evo4g.
2) The kick stand is spring-loaded! Awesome. I liked it. The whole kick stand felts very durable. It feels like it was made from good metal and not some cheap one. It didn’t wobble. It was sturdy! This is important! Awesome kickstand I thought! If I was able to break the kick stand and held it alone in my hand, I would assume it weighs quite a bit for its size.
3) Back battery cover feels cheap. It can flex like the same material as the incredible. In terms of material coating, its not like the hd2 where its rubberized and gives a good grip. It feels just like regular plastic. It’s not coated with anything special.
a. But unless you pop it out of the evo, you’d never be able to tell that it feels like cheap plastic. And when you have the back cover on the device, the whole device feels solid
b. The back cover doesn’t seem to be completely flushed with the seams. With the back cover on, I was still able to gently press the cover down to make it more flushed.
4) The circles around the capacitive buttons and the front speaker are SILVER. It’s not white like you see on a lot of pictures.
5) Light bleeds out of the bottom where the entire front glass meets the evo’s housing. There’s some sort of gap that should have been sealed. Very noticeable bleed especially since the light in the store wasn’t dimmed. Not deal breaking, but come on’ htc.
6) The front entire glass isn’t flushed at the top two corners near the word “hTc” and “sprint” -they sink down a bit unlike the glass near the capacitive buttons where it’s fully flushed. If I ran mu finger across the device, I could feel the evo’s housing when I hit the edge. Not deal breaking but just a matter of personal preference. Most people wouldn’t even know if I didn’t point this out. Im just very anal about every minor detail in terms of hardware build.
7) The volume rocker buttons are awesome. They don’t wiggle/jiggle or anything. They are rock solid, set in stone!
8) The power-on button near the top is also solid. It’s not fully flushed like some review websites say-making it hard to find and turn on. –psh. The button stuck out enough to find and power.
9) The entire screen looks bigger for some reason. Even though I had the hd2, and I placed it side by side, the evo screen just looks bigger than the hd2. It’s probably because WinMo 6.5 has black top/bottom bars. Using a GTX theme would made the hd2 screen look just as big. =)
10) Android 2.1 didn’t feel snappy at first, but then that’s only because sprint filled it up with bloat. Root that evo and flash a ROM. Woohoo! I can care less about the stock Rom because if I ever got it, xda is my solution for custom ROMS.
11) Front facing camera is actually decent in terms of quality. It’s actually pretty clear. Not astonishing, but good enough for day to day video conference! Review sites like pocketnow made it seem as though the front camera is choppy and pixilated. Its not.
12) Back speaker is loud and clear! It’s very nice! Better than the hd2.
13) The screen color production is better than the hd2. I noticed colors were a little more vivid and popped a little more on the evo 4g- not THAT noticeable though. However, I don’t think I would be able to tell the difference if I didn’t put it side by side with the hd2.
14) Weight of evo4g vs hd2 felt practically the same. You can’t really tell the difference. Well, I didn’t and I don’t use case coverings, etc, on my hd2 either.
15) Size, the evo did feel bigger in hand. And it is. But again, weight felt the same
16) Battery; 5 minutes before I was done using the phone, it was telling me to recharge the phone. The battery was around 23% when I first started to use it. Battery drain is very fast for some odd reason.
Those were my impression with the device. I played with the device for a good 20 minutes until I left the store. Am I sold to move over to the evo4g? yes if it was on GSM. No- since it’on CDMA and it’s also on sprint’s expensive network (personal financial issues). But in overall, there is no doubt this evo4g is a power house. I would recommend it even though I don’t own one.

3. Yeah, that's a trade off that has to occur when you make the battery cover snap-on rather than the traditional 'slide into place' method. I noticed it with my Evo, but it's not like I notice it much anyway.
5. You can only see this light bleeding when you look at the phone directly from above. It hasn't interfered with my screen in any way so far.
16. That seems to be an issue with the phone when it's fresh out of the box. After you condition it a bit, the battery life improves dramatically.

I generally liked your impressions until i saw you said that sprint was expensive, which is totally ignorant, sprint is the cheapest network in america i believe that has damn good coverage.

Your impressions were mostly spot-on, VERY impressive for someone who has only played with the phone for 20 minutes. You werent kidding around when you said you are anal about build quality--in 20 minutes you were able to notice all of those little details that took me two days.
Now, the back cover is actually coated, and is soft to the touch. Its not pure plastic at all.
Also, how is Sprint expensive? I pay $67/month with unlimited everything AND handset insurance. I was paying $140 with AT&T for the same plan and had no insurance(iPhone).

I agree, sprint is very good on the wallet, especially with the any mobile any time stuff, and as for coverage, I love it!

Atrix Build Quality

Hi All,
With the Atrix due to hit the UK soonish, I have a question about the build quality.
Now we all know Motorola make solid phones. Top quality build quality.
However...
Numerous reviews highlight the fact that for such a 'high end' phone, the all-body-plasticy-feeling just doesn't cut it. Other reviews suggest it is 'hardened plastic' and that it's not really an issue.
So what do you guys think? Has anyone dropped their Atrix? How did it survive?
Are cracks on the plastic body common?
For comparison, I currently use a HTC Legend, which is a 'one piece' body cut from a single block of aluminium, it's solid as a rock and awesome. I'm wondering how the Atrix would compare...

definitely not comparable to the phone you're using. while i dont mind the plastic back, it is a bit flimsy. however, motorola has released "rugged" battery covers which replace the stock battery cover and also cover the sides of the phone like a case as well, and it is harder thicker plastic with a rubberized outside. i'll be picking one of these up soon hopefully and when i do, i'll post something here.

The Battery cover is pathetic, an the mechanism to open too.

The build quality is good IMO. It's definitely not rugged though. The main thing about the battery cover is that it's slippery. I almost lost grip several times just removing the Atrix from my pocket (yes hands are clean). An Incipio case fixes that problem .

I have no problem with the plastic feel at all, but the lock button drives me nuts!
First of all it's too recessed, and second plenty of times when I press the unlock button phone still doesn't register.
I finally got tired and installed "No lock" just so I can unlock my phone by using the volume rockers.
IMO this is the worse lock button/switch I've ever seen on a phone which is a shame because I love the rest of it.
I'm also guessing that I'm the only one that has a problem with the lock switch since I haven't seen anyone else here really talk about it...

To me the phone is inbetween solid as a rock and satisfactory. Its heavier than most phones Ive used which makes it feel solid. But when you remove the battery cover it makes the phone feel cheap but that is done to get the phone as slim as possible.
The gorilla glass seems to be a lot stronger than what was used on the iphone 4 and doesnt scratch easily. Ive dropped my phone multiple times in its Commuter case and never had an issue. But never have I tested that without a case. IMO every smartphone should be wrapped in a case.

+1, a case is a must.
would rather not have a broken phone just due to dropping it. think of shelling the $30 or so for a good case as a one-payment insurance policy.

For some reason I really like the lock button. It took me a while to get used to but for some reason now it just feels really comfortable although I thought id never get used to it

Build quality is fine IMO. If u are one to use a case...the build shouldn't really matter. I use a tpu case, my Stride is solid

Build quality is solid and good for a plastic device. The plastic is hard and doesn't creak, though the back is somewhat flimsy. You have to lower your expectations if you're coming from an all metal device though. This obviously can't compare physically to something that's made from machined aluminium or something.

i didnt like using it until i retrained my print by swiping up instead of down, like the tutorial shows.

HTC will always have topnotch build quality....Atrix is very solid for a plastic backing. Its more solid than the Cappy

I use a cheap $4 TPU case from eBay and that makes the phone 10X better, IMO. The phone gets bulkier (of course), but it's def worth it.
As an added bonus, it makes swiping my fingerprint easier.

I actually really like the design of the battery cover. It's extremely quick to remove if needed, and the same for putting it back on. Does allow for dust to get in more easily, but also a snap to clean out if needed.
Feels just like my iPhone 3GS did for form factor, but I would say the iPhone was a wee bit more slippery due to the high gloss case finish.
Overall design and build quality are fine imo.

Thing is, in the Android world, HTC has gained a decent reputation for build quality. But overall, (including pre-Android days) Motorola really were (are?) kings of the build quality game. Hence why comments around build quality are somewhat surprising.
It seems like most of you have cases then? I absolutely hate having a case for any phone I own, it takes away from the design lines of the phone, no to mention the weight, size, aesthetics, etc.
Maybe the question should be: do you feel the build quality is at such a poor level that you feel you *need* a case - because so many of you seem to have one!!

I typically do not like using a case. I think the build quality on the phone is great as others have mentioned previously. It certainly does not "need" a case in imho.

nah your not the only one. this was one of the main reasons why i sold the phone. hitting the home button required too much effort because it was so recessed.

I am coming from a Nexus One and was a little skeptical of the build quality of the Atrix. I went ahead and got the Atrix on release date, have never put a case on it, and really do like the build of it. The back cover wraps around all the corners of the phone and covers the whole back, so if you where to scratch it up you can just replace it and it will be good as new.

Nexus 4 feels like cheap crap

I switched from GNex because I couldn't stand that plastic back panel crackling and how cheap it feels (like every Samsung does). Now I have N4 and what started happening to my GNex after two weeks, the same thing started happening to my brand new N4 after 4 freakin' days!!! I am pissed beyond words! This is suppose to be Google's flagship? Seriously?! I seriously regret that I didn't take HTC One instead!
Even small pressure, like putting the phone on desk or holding in hand, will push back plate slightly into phone, thus creating gap right next to it on the right side and on bottom of the left side. When I put it to my hand to clean the display the back plate will make move again. So in the end almost every pick-up I make is "packed" with crackling sound from either back plate or sides, like if I was holding cheap Samsung crap for 1 €! I didn't pay 450 € for this disappointment!

Its a tiny creaking noise, and from that you're saying it feels like crap? *Cough"OCD*Cough* Let the phone 'ware in'..

It's anything but tiny. I can hear it and feel how it moves by simply using it. I don't need to perform any special moves or something. A simple pick up suffice. Considering this phone has nothing removable (except SIM card), but still manage to bring the same issue, it says a lot about it's build quality.

I think it's the issue with your particular Nexus 4... mine one feels very solid. :/ maybe try to exhcnage the phone?
I used to have a GS3 but i couldnt stand its cheap materials, so the nexus 4 feels like a much needed upgrade in terms of hardware

The back panel literally bends into the phone. How is this even possible with glass back panel is beyond my comprehension.
P.S.: I was worried, like many others, that I'll scratch it somehow and somewhere, so I was keeping safe. I mean extremely safe. I didn't even imagine that this would happen regardless what I do.

I would not call the device crap if you are having problems. Its something wrong with you or that particular device, as numerous people and developers love this phone

What did you really hope to accomplish by posting this here? Your first world OCD problem does not concern any of us and in fact and this may come as a shock. Most people frequenting this forum happen to like our N4. Stop being a whiny ***** and sell it if you don't like it.

The noise most likely comes from the camera assy when the lens moves inside it. (known feature since the launch)
And the back glass indeed does flex some under pressure. Most likely thats a feature also to minimize the risk of breaking the back glass.
At least my rev11 version does flex (very)little when i press it.

Even small pressure, like putting the phone on desk or holding in hand, will push back plate slightly into phone, thus creating gap right next to it on the right side and on bottom of the left side. When I put it to my hand to clean the display the back plate will make move again. So in the end almost every pick-up I make is "packed" with crackling sound from either back plate or sides, like if I was holding cheap Samsung crap for 1 €! I didn't pay 450 € for this disappointment!

One week with the M8, my thoughts

After a week of owning the One M8 I am pretty happy with it, I'd say very happy actually. Not fair, but the comparisons are against my previous phone, the Galaxy S4. I was heavily considering the S5 on ATT, but ATT is screwing S5 owners, no root, and doubtful ever to see custom recovery for ROM's.
Pros;
- Screen is awesome, very crisp and sharp, with realistic colors, looks extremely detailed. After my S4's AMOLED, this is a refreshing change. Plus outdoors it looks night and day better than the S4 screen.
- Crazy smooth fast. The M8 is Star Trek warp speed fast compared to the S4 which would be current rocket technology fast. Plus TW on the S4 would lag or pause for a second or two in some apps, never get anything like that on the M8.
- Sense 6 is very nice, compared to Touchwiz, it looks more professional, nice Black / White / Blue theme and design to Sense 6, more of a minimalistic look. I still think stock Android is the best, but Sense 6 is a very close second. And Touchwiz is last place of all UI's to me.
- Battery life on the M8 is off the charts AMAZING, I mean like really good, maybe even 50% better then my S4. This thing almost lasts as long as my old Note 2 battery.
- Speakers, I wasn't ever really looking for great speakers in a cell phone before, never thought about it. But wow these are crazy good, loud and very clear sound. YouTube videos and music sound awesome. Really wasn't expecting to like the speakers as much as I do.
- Development friendly, I am rooted, custom Recovery, S-Off, and running a custom stock ROM. And I have the option to install the GPE ROM of the M8, so can always be on the latest Android OS if I want for years now.
Cons;
- Heavy weight, not a fan of the heavier feel of this M8, compared to my old S4 which was feather light. The S4 in gym shorts was barely noticeable, where the M8 feels like a brick.
- Curved back not cool, I like flat backs on a phone, to rest on a desk, and use it while laying down on the table. Can't really do that with the M8. I like a small thin flat case around my phone, not curved.
- Accessories, not nearly as many cases available for the M8, as there are for the iPhone or Galaxy line.
- LED Notification light on the S4 is better, bigger and brighter. The M8 has this tiny little flashing dot hiding inside the speaker grille.
- Not waterproof like the new S5, which would be nice.
Overall I really like this M8, just need to find that right case. But the S5 still looks nice too, but with no root and no ROM's for the S5 that is a big deal for me. I couldn't handle a stock carrier version S5 with no customization or option to debloat it. But the lighter feel, and flat back is nice for the S5.
At the end of the day there is no perfect phone. I think a combination of the S5 + M8 = perfect phone. Sense 6 + S5 screen + metal design in the shape of the old smaller S4 size + waterproof. Then I woke up

Thanks for your post man.
I have the S4 and I don't like it because of the plastic and now with knox I can't root/flash roms anymore so my phone just idles most of the time..
Also I had a problem where the adhesive between the LCD and screen started coming loose, in my pocket, Samsung won't replace it, I even contacted them directly but they said ANY damage to the screen is not under warranty, although the warranty booklet says something else.
Also my screen got scratched in the service center (see pic).
Originally I was deciding between the S4 and the original One, but went with the S4 because "everybody" was rocking one, well I don't know why Samsung devices are so popular, in my opinion they are okay, but not worth the money at release.
I'm getting the M8 tomorrow! I'll post my thoughts as well.
Btw, as someone who does take some photos, will I be disappointed by the camera? The S4 is 100% good enough for me, I actually even prefer my Lumia 800 camera because of the bokeh and feel.

Agree With almsot everything. though I put the HTC logo/bar and horrible sleep button in the cons.

Yeah that's probably the only thing that I don't really like on this phone, the LED notification. If it wasn't for the good speakers telling you a notification came in you'd never notice it until you unlock the phone again for whatever reason.
Not the worst thing in the world though.
As for the waterproof, I did see some videos on youtube where they tossed in water and it held up nice enough even though it isn't officially rated as "waterproof". I won't test it out on my own though...:cyclops:

I hardly notice the bar anymore...
I also got pretty used to where all the buttons are regardless of the fact that I don't usually press the power button to turn of the screen, just leave it to auto lock. :good:

The only thing that annoys me about the M8 is the position of the headphone jack, why oh why did HTC change, it was perfectly fine where it was, Asides from that it's a brilliant phone and worthy contender for phone of the year 2014, although the new One plus one looks a beast and amazing price, but the build quality and boom sound should win it for HTC again.

This is definitely something I agree with, the "horrible sleep button" part. I've run my finger over it a few times, and it noticeably sways in place. If you press the edge of your nail on one side of the button, the other side slides upwards, and it just doesn't sit still and feels very loose. Absolutely HATE it. It's going to be hard going for another phone after the M8 though, unless it has similar "Motion Launch Gestures". Even though it's more of just a usage convenience, I'm almost addicted to how great it is to turn the phone on by just tapping on the screen.
Also, the curved back actually feels pretty nice in the hand, but I'd probably like it more if it had a flat back too. That, and if it was less slippery (though I'm trying to look around for a good skin to put on the back so it won't be as slippery). Also, I wish there was like some kind of a separator between the volume up/down buttons (either a gap or a little elevated line), and that you could put a lock screen widget onto your, uhh...home lock screen. Right now, it always open to the default HTC lock screen (unless I'm being stupid and missing something. If someone can point me in the direction of changing that, I'd be really glad), but those are kinda tiny nitpicks.

Not really waterproof but still "waterspray" proof (ip x3).
The S5 is just protected against temporarly in water dives, the Z2 permanent.
Also... the M8 survived 30+ minutes inside a water bowl. and nothing happened on it.
In any halfway realistic scenario, the ip 58/67 will have zero difference. Noone throws his phone into a swimming pool tbh, or goes diving with it.
If i would ever go diving, and wanting to shoot those rare awesome pictures, i would get a professional camera for these moments.

Is the One M8 " water spray proof ". If so that's cool. Would that mean protection against rain drops or light mist ?

I just replaced my M8, my other one had a loose power button and good volume keys.(wasn't the reason I had it replaced). This one has a perfect power button. Like really. I've never felt a power button this perfect before. And the loosest volume keys ever.... Sigh.
This power button though... There's like no give side to side until you press it. I'm actually amazed.

I've never really been worried about getting light rain drops on my phone. The only time I really see it being a problem is when it's pouring. Nothing bad water related has ever happened to any of my phones

Just under a week with mine. So far I'm extremely happy I left Samsung in the dust. Build quality, feel of the phone in hand, display and speed all trump my past 3 phones. Only fault I can give it is the power button. It still boggles my mind as to why it wasn't placed on the left or on the side and volume keys moved to the other side.
I love that HTC decided to reintroduce external memory and they can be forgiven for not giving us hot swapping of memory/sim cards.
Also after being with Samsung for 3 years I'm glad to see HTC is still developer friendly

I agree with your weight comment. I have a Seidio surface with kickstand case (blue is beautiful, the pictures don't show you the wonderful pearlescent finish, which really pops), a glass screen protector and this unit is HEAVY compared to my feather light S2. Sound was the key driver of my purchase. I bought my wife an M7 for her birthday and have lusted after her speakers ever since. This in my mind outweighed the lackluster camera. The screen is great, but the great thing about this LCD springs from how bad my AMOLED S2 screen was. It has severe screen burn in issues. I was always babying it and worried about turning it off, now with LCD I can use on screen alerts if I want, and leave my screen on for as long as I want.
You are right about KNOX. That killed ANY Samsung product for me. Even though I hate begging mommy HTC to give me a code to unlock the device I just paid them $750 for, KNOX is orders of magnitude worse. These are our devices, period. I guess if you live in the dying empire, addicted to an ever deepening credit spiral, carriers may have the right to somehow control the device, and your behaviour, until the end of the contract. However, those of us who do flash occasionally know a new ROM really gives an old device renewed vigour, so the ability to do to our devices whatever we wish is an absolute must over the typical contract period of two years.
Just a slight correction, I don't believe GPE will give updates for an eternity (the impossible to service battery, 2/10 iFixit score tells all you need to know about the inevitable end of life of our device). The GPE ROM update is still provided by HTC, so we are, I believe, at their mercy for however long they see fit to officially support the device.

Only thing that's quite awfull for me is the muscle ache in left arm after holding it in my hand in the morning, cause it's much heavier than my old SGS3

Erm. The power button would definitely have a better home on the left side (and it feels really loose on mine, so that bothers me too), but the volume keys are on the right side because if you hold your phone normally, in portrait, you can press them with your thumb. Having owned an iPhone 5 as my previous phone before this one, I did get used to the placement of the volume keys on the left (as just getting used to it is what every one of these "why is button X in position Y" complaints can be explained away with), but I think it's better this way overall. I mean, sure, you can use the volume keys with your pointer or middle finger(s), but using the thumb's easier (at least I think so, and I reckon a lot of other people do too).

Yeah I also like the volume keys where they are. I hold the phone in my right hand so it's much easier, only problem for me though... I'm not entirely used to it yet, I tend to press the volume down button on a frequent basis by accident, it doesn't help that the volume keys are so sensitive either but like you mentioned, it just takes some getting used to. Though I'm not saying that sensitive volume rockers are a bad thing, I think it's awesome...
Power button, they probably could have put it where the SDCard slot is and you could quickly turn it off with just a thumb slide but, I also like it where it's at now so. It's out of the way and prevent continious accidental locks while you're busy, which I can easily see happening if you take into consideration that I still accidentally press the volume down button
I don't really understand the complaints though, if they pick up the device they could unlock it with power button almost instantly before they even manouvre it into their hand for use...Else what's wrong with a quick swipe from the bottom to top to take you to last screen worked in? For the turning off...well if you're going to put it down anyways what difference does it make HOW you press the button, the thing is going on the table anyways and if you're lazy and read with the device flat on the surface you'll end up pressing the power button from the front side(Device facing up) with an index finger anyways...
Oh well, to each his own I suppose.
Like I said though the only MAJOR complaint I have is with the darn LED notification. Perhaps if they could just have increased the size of the LED slightly so that it could shine through more grill holes it would have been better but it's effectively a single grill hole notification with hard to notice colors on the LED in some instances. :silly: It's fine though the speakers make up for it somehow by clearly and loudly notifying you of an incoming mail, message etc so...

Yeah, a fair argument someone could bring up to me that I fully agree with is that the volume buttons are a bit too sensitive, and I accidentally press them a lot too. Again, I wish they were separated a bit (don't really like them being one unified strip), and were a bit more rigid. I can change the volume on the M8 without making almost any noise, but I'd take some noise when pressing the volume buttons as opposed to accidentally pressing them all the time (which is extra annoying seeing as my headset controls don't seem to work, at least not in PowerAmp).

Agree about the volume buttons. The amount of times a notification goes off and I thought I had it on silent/ vibrate.
