If it is possible, I am going to try to create a KFHD Theme pack, to look like stock ICS. I will modify the framework-res.apk file tomorrow once I am rooted and create the themepack with all ofthe stock ICS Icons. Combined with a custom launcher, it will be the closest you can get to Stock android besides a custom rom. Who would download it?
It would be great if you make theme packs. I think a lot of people would enjoy it while waiting for custom builds
Doesn't a launcher like Nova already do this?

Not in the way the OP is talking about. You'll notice, that even with launchers, things like the status bar, settings, and notification menu stay the same. He's trying to edit certain files to change that, and give rooted Kindle Fire HD owners the feeling of running a completely separate OS from the standard KF software.
glad to hear that, I hope there would have a Chinses version, so if you need Chinese translation, just contact me.
Cool, I'll dowload it
n00b here - I'd download :good:
would be awesome
i know both my wife and me would love this ....i really dont like nova or go launcher id download it twice just for your hardwork

I will for sure because when I am using skype I can’t access letter P on my Go-keyboard in Horizontal/Lanscape mode,
It’s hiding behind notification menu as well as other signs.
The same thing happen with multi keyboard, only the kindle “not so good keyboard” Fire HD have the complete keyboard.
I hope you manage to make this KFHD Theme pack, to look like stock ICS so no more notification menu unless we want to
Access it good luck and TIA
Thanks for your support guys. I have not had much time but I have started on it. And it would not change the position of the status bar or notification bar, just make the home icon and stuff. It would most resemble a galaxy nexus type navbar and status bar.
Hi everybody,
I was wondering if exist any method or mod to hide the navigation bar on the stock-rooted 4.2.2 ROM? I tried with fullscreen+piecontrol pro, but there is a conflict between fullscreen and piecontrol pro, the last one does not show the notifications...
I know the cyanogenmod and the paranoid roms can do that, but i am trying to preserve the original stock rom...
greetings!!
Edit:
I did it!!! and its very easy!

will you listen if someone tells you this is crazy?
you want to preserve the polish of your stock rom, ...by installing a hack? thats like stomping on it. not to mention that its limited.
not many people know this, and this may come as a surprise to you, but nexus roms base on AOSP. in other words, that is stock android you're dealing with. theres no way to do it cleaner, you take android sourcecode, supplied by google, you add google supplied vendor files, and you extend it in a clean way. you end up with a coherent, sane system. you will not loose the polish that you know from stock. its not a clunky do it yourself makeshift solution, it feels and behaves as if its part of the whole.
watch a couple of these vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/molesarecoming/videos?flow=grid&view=0
neither lmt nor any root hack can do it. you really wanna go that way still?

i understand you. what im saying is, instead you take a nicely designed, coherent OS, and you smash it against the wall and stomp on it. by installing dirty hacks that is. theres nothing stock anymore after that treatment, you're dealing with root apps here running all the time, sucking your battery dry, ramping up your cpu. with smali hacks that erode your framework and fragment your android anyway, so its not updatable by OTA. you're going for the dirtiest solution possible thinking you'll stay clean. it just makes no sense.

I found the FullScreen Toggle in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497558
I already know the solution, but the concern is that the screen flashes when moving in such an application message, contact, etc ... it's a shame because this is the only application that does exactly what is being asked, just hide the navigation bar while keeping the tray.
Simple app to hide nav bar and replace it with transparent buttons on the corners
This app called "full!screen" is a quick and easy way to get rid of the nav bar. It (optionally) replaces the buttons with transparent buttons on the lower right and left corners. Very customizable and stable, but it needs root.

I am using this code with GMT gesture. Amazing and I love it. I am on rooted stock.

You can now hide soft keys (and keep notification bar) without modifications and reboots. Just try my new app:
GMD Hide Soft Keys
It also adds Quick NavBar - soft keys that can be openede with simple swipe from bottom and they autohide when not needed.
Curently running ForceRom 2.1 and love it. I haved messed around with other roms and launchers but nothing else seems right for me. The only thing I want is a different set of stock system/dock icons, such as stock android icons. Is there a simple way to change 5-10 of the stock icons. Im actually not interested in a fully pimped out theme changing all apps icons since I rather like the different colors.

You may have to sacrifice something if not running a third party launcher or icon pack/theme. The easiest way right off the top of my head is to use Desktop Visualizer or a similar app. You can create shortcuts for apps and make the icon whatever you want. Might see if it will do what you want.

I'm guessing on your phone when you hit the menu key it doesn't show theme so go to settings/Home screen and it should be there.
Depends what you mean by theme. I am pretty sure the stock phone can really just change wallpaper and move icons around. With root access you can install the Xposed framework which allows much more customization which is probably what you want, and with custom launchers such as Nova or Apex you can also do wallpaper changes and run custom icon packs. But maybe the theme you saw was nothing more than some UCCW widgets, IDK since I haven't seen the one you are talking about.

The stock launcher on the G2 has a theme changer and comes with two themes that change icons, walls and the clock widget maybe more. So its basically good for changing icon packs and then just reset your wallpaper after you get the icons you like. Yes you can use Nova or whatever and customize icons to your hearts content but I prefer the LG launcher and I'm thrilled they added this.

Yea I love it, just wish it theme'd widgets but guess i will splurge on Beautiful Widgets/HD Widgets
(stock transparent clock-weather widget would be nice tho)
I'm on the at&t variant and I can't find the theme option anywhere either. I'm guessing they took it out. I can still change individual icons by holding the icon, tapping the purple brush that pops up, hitting Menu and selecting a theme I've installed from the previous thread and then they all show up for selection. This only works for individual icons though and will not help you change the app drawer button, which is the one I wanted to change.

Wow that sucks, makes no sense. I know carriers add bloat but didn't think they touch anything in a UI. This is the theme manager on the G2.

I've got nothing that says theme anywhere I assume it would be. Checked Home Settings and Menu on the Home Screen. Nothing. I'm really bummed about that. I wanted to change the app drawer button so badly. Damn.
Edit: going to try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447311

Edit 2: Some things changed, like the blank screen text, but others didn't like the ability to theme. Weird. Maybe that isn't ready for the at&t version of that mod.

I don't think just flashing yours would work. It might but the guy needed all the files for the models he was building the mod for from the devices he was building for. I think it would need a little more than just swapping it.
And I tried that mod. No theme ability on the at&t version of the phone. Still.

Thank you
I believe the international and Verizon version have the theme chooser, along with the Korean version. It allows you to switch to the Marshmellow stock theme, and others to come in the future. However, I think its apparent that the At&t version is missing this functionality. Would it be possible to add it back in an APK?

You'd probably have to wait for a dev to add it to their ROM
T-mobile version has it.
There's an internal application I found with system tuner called home chooser, don't think its enabled though. Anyone with another carrier version know if this is what were looking for?

Hey Everyone,
Followed the instructions from here (https://www.xda-developers.com/add-custom-buttons-to-nav-bar-on-samsung-galaxy-s8-galaxy-s8/) to install Custom Navigation Bar on my AT&T S8.
Had no issues until I tried to add in custom pixel icons to replace the standard system ones using this guide (https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-change-your-nav-bar-icons-or-re-arrange-the-buttons-without-root/)
I downloaded the icons for a 1440p display and got them to show up, replacing the standard icons but every time I touched one of the navbar icons I got a system UI crash. Anyone know if this is an issue with using incorrectly sized icons or if it's just an issue with icon replacement in the navbar on the S8 right now?
I hope that was just a minor issue as i also would like to have the Pixel NavBar on my S8. The S8 navbar could not be seen on some good wallpapers and i really like to have the Pixel look in this phone. Someone uploaded the S8 NavBar, maybe you could copy its format.

I haven't had any luck yet but I'm not an expert, I can follow ADB instructions easily but don't know enough to troubleshoot myself unfortunately. I'm hoping it's just a matter of time before someone figures it out.
Not working on Touchwiz (S8 is partially supported) think that gives it away in the thread of the app
