Updated, and then Wifi just broke!

I just installed the update, and now my phone is "Unable to start Wi-Fi."
Here's the full history, if it helps:
- I unlocked and rooted with superboot last week, to install Thai font support.
I didn't install any custom roms.
Today, since the OTA update wouldn't work on my rooted phone,
- I installed Amon Ra's recovery and used it to
- install the "main update" from modaco
This broke the root, and disabled the Thai fonts (which were still in the /system/fonts directory)
At this point I can confirm the Wi-Fi still working. Then I
- installed the "radio update" from modaco
- re-rooted via superboot (adb flash boot nexusone.superboot.1.1.img)
Rebooted, and found that the Thai fonts were still in the directory, but no longer working. So I
- re-installed the Thai fonts via 'adb push' just as I had originally.
Then I noticed the Wi-Fi wasn't connected, and when I looked in 'Settings -> Wireless & networks' it said 'Unable to start Wi-Fi'
So somewhere after flashing modaco's main update, and the final reinstall of the Thai fonts, it broke.
I'd guess it was probably with the radio update, though I'm not sure how that would affect the Wi-Fi.
Also, Bluetooth still works fine.
Please, help!!!
Can't help you here, but are you a Thai Android user by any chance?
Nope, I'm American. Just happen to live in Thailand at the moment.
Ah, was hoping to find a fellow Thai user on here, though I suppose most Thai users would just go to Droidsans or Siamphone for help.
Aha! I fixed it, by reflashing the update, and then rooting with the NEW superboot from modaco. Apparently the old one (1.1) is what broke the Wi-Fi?

I had the same problem and flashing the new superboot (again, I might add) fixed it.
Thanks!

Try the radio update Cyanogen posted. Link in my sig for CyanogenMod 5.0.
And yes, the radio update can affect your wi-fi.
IF COURSE you broke your wifi.
The boot.img file you flashed had a *different kernel* (older) than the one that came with the update! So the kmod was incompatible!
The *new* boot.img that you wrote was with the new kernel, which IS compatible with the system's wlan.ko.
Hey, thanks for that explanation. I guessed it had to be something like that, but hadn't seen it explained. I didn't know that the superboot img had any connection at all to the actual rom/kernel of the OS. I assumed it just gave root priveleges, like on any other OS... And judging by the number of folks who reported losing Wi-Fi in other forums under similar circumstances, I wasn't the only one.
Thanks!
i just rooted my phone and it happend to me, has anyone found out how to fix it yet?
omg...... is it true?

go to www.theunlockr.com
type in 'nexus one root'
go to their tutorial.
you'll see SUPERBOOT as a link,
then read.
go to about> and look at your build number.. if its ERE27 like mine, try both links and see if they work, because on of them has the updated wi-fi driver. that could be it.
y not just go here to get the new superboot, bang its done PAUL from modaco, has 2 files one for erd27 and another for erd72
http://android.modaco.com/content/g...-erd79-ere27-superboot-rooting-the-nexus-one/
does the one i linked mean we no longer have to flash amon recovery if we not goning to install custom roms, but just want root.
or will we still need it to do updates with from google,
My wifi is working now. See h**p://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5773148&postcount=26
I got the same problem with the CM 5.0.6 T1 today!
I installed it with Amon Ra Recovery.img I don't know what to do now

[Q] Solved [Help] Deleted some system apps, after hardreset now i got no GUI anymore

Dear,
Who off you will be so kind to send me his/her stock /System/App map to me.
Stupid me....!!!
I was fiddling arround in my Tab and was deleting some stock apps.
Used System App Remover.
I had Launcher Pro so i thought touchwiz can be deleted to.
I had a backup made and copied it (stupid me) to the internal SD
After a while i was doing something which my Tab did not like.
So a full hard reset was necessary.
Stupid me forgot to put touchwiz back.
Now i have a Tab which shows a black-screen with only the notification-bar.
And a lot of errors, especially "proces android.process.acore" and more.
After some searching i downloaded a modified touchwiz from here.
Because i still can boot to the boot-loader and via android-commander i copied that apk to \system\app map.
Did a factory reset via the boot-loader but nothing happens.
I still have the same black-screen with notification-bar.
Before you ask:
I have a stock Tab and stock boot-loader.
It is rooted with Superoneclick.
So there for i can not (i think) flash a new rom.
So please can someone help me out...
Thread can be closed.
Took me two days of searching but i managed to get my Galaxy Tab back in business.
Found a rom on samfirmware an got it flashed by Odin.
I know I am a bit late to your party and sorry for that, but I only got mine done properly yesterday, was a bit confused with the conflicting info.
Anyway my point is you certainly can flash custom roms, use ODIN to flash MoDaCo's Kernel, either ext4 conversion version if you want ext4, or the RFS version if you want to keep RFS, and then use CWM Recovery to flash CWM compatible roms, such as Overcome Rom (Personal Favorite of current roms, especially with the new Kernel included )
Some good instructions here: http://droid-den.com/phone-guides/phone-guide-install-custom-modaco-rom-and-kernel-on-samsung-galaxy-tab-guide
Just filter the instructions for yourself, such as install the Kernel only, different rom, etc.
Thx for your reply.
I will look into those rom and flashing it...

New bootloader Image file

First off my build is 4.53.651.1. I did the update thru sprint and followed all the unrooting procedures on here and re-rooted. I tried using the existing pc36img file on it to bring back to stock and it says wrong bootloader and skips it.
The problem i am running into at this point is that my wallpaper will not change and after i had an alarm set that is now my ringtone. I cannot get anything to change. I need to see if someone has the img file of the new bootloader so i can just flash it and be done with it. I would bring it back to bone stock and go from there. does anyone have this file or does it even exist? thanks

Help update new firmware via TWRP - Where is package file/folder

Hi. I just got a notification telling me a new firmware was available for my i9505. I use TriangleAway to mask that my phone is rooted. However, when trying to update, the phone will reboot into TWRP, and thus unable to install/update further from there. I guess the easy solution would be to 'force' install via TWRP, but I'm unable to find the downloaded installer package. Any ideas to where the package is hiden, - or better ways to do this?

If you really want the OTA upgrade which I would advise against, instead you should
flash the latest samsung i9505 touchwiz 4.2.2 custom rom...using TWRP recovery.
But if you want the OTA update here is how to do it.
Download the stock recovery for your phone i9505: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=22946563261204103
Then extract the TAR file out of the file you just downloaded and flash it using Odin in the PDA slot.
After doing that the OTA will or should update.
When it's done updating you will be left with the stock firmware and the phone will NOT be rooted.
But it's up to you what you want to do.... I cannot think of even one advantage of allowing the OTA to update
unless you want to return or exchange your phone for some reason or another.
Good luck with it.
Good idea, if not for..
Thanks for your swift reply. Actually, the whole reason for rooting was of course to put a modified ROM on the phone However, I was stuck with this issue (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2278172), which prompted me to halt that project. However, I now have an additional problem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302091) which means that if my phone gets Re-Locked, I might never get rid of the excess files mentioned. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, much ?

not really, with a little practice using a file manager like Root Explorer you can
find that file you are looking for, it will be a much larger file than any other
file on your phone except for the custom rom zip files.
So with a good file manager which has options to SORT files by name/size/date
it should be easy to find ONE very large file...
The OTA update is only 1 file, it's not like a bunch of files that are scattered in your phone.
Good luck!

Revert splash screen to default

Hello there
I changed my device's default splash screen when I flashed a custom ROM some time ago and now I want to revert it to default but I don't know how to do so. If I remember correctly, the easiest way was to find a flashable version, which I couldn't find, and I believe another way was to replace some files in the system directory but I'm not sure which files.
Can someone point me in the right direction, please?
Thank you very much.
