Yeah, I really miss setting timescape as my main home screen. It was possible with 1.6.. and it worked really well. For some reason they removed this in 2.1. Is there any way to add this back?
Just wait for the UI update on Q1 we should see some interesting stuff.

Well, you are the first person that I meet for loving the timescape. For me, it just a simply disaster for the CPU and the RAM, may be it'll better with Tegra II + DDR II ram+native SSD but not with the old snapdragon+SD card.
Hey I do also love Timescape!!!

I kove Timescape and Mediascape too. I guess this is why we bought X10, right?
If not we would have gotten a Nexus One.
I hope SE reads this! I don't want them getting the wrong idea of there timescape being a "disaster". In my opinion it's a wonderful asset, especially when you can set it as your home interface.
Actually i'm not using the asop roms because of mediascape it's really best media program on android

Yeah i like Mediascape and Timescape too, and with the new 2.0.2 Firmware its alot faster and really enjoyable.
i have problem with updating timescape.
i live in iran and facebook an towtter and... are filter for u.so we have to open them by V..P..N,but still it just update for the first time that i register fo account but not any more,so i have to delet privious one and register again.
can any one help me out?
Personally I removed mediascape. I use Spotify as a source of music and as it doesn't intergrate into mediascape, I don't see the point. I do love the UI though. SE may take forever and a day to release an update but they do a damm good job on the UI when they do.
All I would like to see is the removal of the blue theme. I prefer black.

You can change the theme, black doesn't come as standard however, do you like pink?
My hope is they add more functionality to timescape on this update, I loved it as a concept but functionality was zero compared to other applications.

I like timescape too. Dont know why removed it from home screen. It really sucks
yeah i liked mediascape too ... especially after the update where you could use it in landscape mode (before i always had to use the stock player when i used my phone in my car)
but timescape is like the worst crap ive ever seen ...
Fwiw Timescape just surprised me. I don't generally use it and use the fb app. But I just noticed that it ignores the posts from blogs and corporate posting. I like that function.

I've had my X8 for a while I only used time scape once then never again it seemed useless when you have icons on your screen , message and dial that shows you missed calls and messages and a pre installed Facebook.

Hi I am in Canada and i just preordered the xperia play. Just wanted to know what is like the first things i should do when i get it? (im moving from an iphone to this). What are great android apps that i should download and such.
regards,
First android device huh? Well... Custom home screen would be number one, specially coming from iPhone, get something like launcher pro as it's my favorite, very customizable, but it might be a little much at first if you are in culture shock.
Emulators is a big plus and benefit to me if that's your thing. Almost everything on iPhone has it's android alternative except for a couple popular games. Is there a list of your favorite iPhone apps and maybe we can identify the android counterpat
thanks for the quick reply. games arent really my worry as im fine with going around trying new ones. things i wanted to know is if i can disable timescape and other useless addons. does the keyboard work fine or can i install some app to get the swype keyboard or something better? and that app you mentioned sounds cool, will definately try it.
regards

Swype is my favorite keyboard replacement, the stock android one is good, but I heard the one that comes with this might suck a bit maybe? Better keyboard is a skin able keyboard replacement and you can skin it to look/feel like the iPhones.
As far as disabling stuff, you can to a point, but without root access (like jail breaking) you can't touch some of the lower level services. Home replacement is what I think you will want though, get launcher pro or adw launcher. Adw being very themeable. Launcher pro having more polish/settings.
sounds cool. so ill definetly look at swype. how exactly does launder pro work? does it replace everything? (ie timescape)?

It will replace your entire homescreen and everything that's one it - it won't however replace other parts of your system like the Timescape gallery, keyboard or music player. However, all those things are replaceable as well with many alternatives in the market and over here.
Emulators, Emulators, Emulators i say!

Teamviewer works like LogMeIn but for Win/Mac/Linux and for free. Xda app is a app that allows you to view this forum.
Also check out all these games with surprort for Xperia Play. make sure to download the specific versions in some cases.
XDA link to games
thanks for the list of games, and ill def check out teamviewer cause i love logmein.
ps is there a good site do download apk's and is there any guide on the subject?

Sorry, but this news is nothing interesting.
I dont care about facebook integration. They need to focus to fix the problems with the ARC instead of doing this.
And the release of some budget phones is also not interesting since this is the ARC place
seriously! FB integration! I dont give a rats arse..LOL
all that junk will only increase battery use and will be added into the list of bloatware to be removed!!
Well.. I'm quite interested.. I use FB a fair bit so I'll be impressed if this is a good integration..... and I'm sure that the update won't just be for this.. they'll also include the 2.3.3 update and numerous bug fixes too.

Well I was the first one to mention yesterday that there was a Software Upgrade coming out ... but didn't know what was the Upgrade updating.
New ARCs are expected Within a Week or so.
Waiting .....
Anyways .. Thanks a lot for the Info dear.
Gah! This sort of inane crap (who f*!&ing cares if it takes one less click to 'like' something on facebook?) is what makes it take longer to get updates out for the phone (see HTC sense). All of this deep integration means that every time there's a new version of android they have to reintegrate all of this garbage from scratch instead of just plonking the app on top.
There's already a facebook app. It works. We can use it if we want. Or use a browser. Leave it at that. Why does it have to have its tentacles into every part of the phone? IT'S JUST A WEBSITE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.
Jesus christ sony, you were heading in the right direction, don't balls it up now.
Is that magic update ready to download?
Sent from my Xperia Arc
@daveybaby - I very much doubt that it will be deep integration.. it will be built into the SE launcher, like TS, and all the other widgets they've created.. that all now floats (mostly) above the OS layer so this FB integration won't affect that.
personallly i don't care of this kind of add. First they should keep android up to date and bugless than after, if they have time to lose adding theses features
I am sure that all bugs will be fixed...the FB talk is a cover up...news cant read 'SE to fix bugs in the next update'. it sounds better for the company when you are releasing a new version with something new, even though it may not be anything many of us care about...and like most of the stock stuff, users who dont like the new FB stuff will not have to compulsorily use it..
Native Google facebook integration has been removed from 2.3.3 and is not back in 2.3.4 either . I'm guessing it would need to be through Timescape and contact integration if they did improve it.

hopefully this update fixes the most important bug.. the inability to connect to exchange mail.. ffs without that this phone is pretty damn useless... can't sync to my work email =="

I thought that was just for google phones? I thought any phones that were sold with Facebook on the device was unaffected by that?

I really hope you're right. It would make sense, actually. Nobody likes to admit that there were bugs on their product. ^^
So, well, nothing else to do apart from crossing fingers.
Hey guys, i'm going to be purchasing an xperia play (my first android/smart phone whoo!) soon and I've done my fair share of research over this phone and i've gone to the verion store to check it out, and i like it a lot, but there's just one thing that bothers me. What happened to the app drawer? I know it's stock gingerbread therefore it should have the same app drawer that the Nexus S has, but it doesn't seem the same, the reason I say this is because when you scroll up and down through the apps, it doesn't give you that "cube" like effect, what happened?

does that really matter? there is a million launchers on the market that can emulate that cube effect in the app draw, and imo have much better effects too, just download one

Download the Gingerbread launcher, push it to /system/app and delete the default launcher. Problem solved This isnt ios You know
I don't have the Verizon edition so could be COMPLETELY wrong but perhaps it's enable-able in a settings?
Even if not the other comments are right - think of it this way. It's not that it doesn't have the cube effect, it's that you need to install it via the market - Launcher Pro or Gingerbread Launcher should both have it (ADW too maybe?)
If you get that phone you can definitely get the effect your looking for
