Anyone know why paid apps on Andriod Market are locked on Optus..??
My contract is up with them end of this month, thinking about jumping over to Vodafone..
Is there anyway to bypass this lock out?
optus block it so people are forced to use their own crappy market.
use market enabler if your phone is rooted, or put another carrier sim card in to download the paid apps..
there is a huge thread about it on whirlpool
I was using Market Spoof, I found it more convenient, just click the widget on or off when you want to use the apps store. I got fed up with optus and changed to vodafone mainly because of this.
I am in Kuwait and not able to get to the paid apps either.. Where do i download this market spoof or market enabler from?? Thanks!

How to get this on my N1?
Do I access this link via the browser, or do I need to have paid access to the Android Marketplace?
I tried via the browser but it comes up saying the website is temporarily down.....
Help!
I got the x10 yesterday from DUbai. For the last 20 hours I am looking for the market. Could not find it. If it was there and not in the application list how to enable it.
If it was not how to install it ?
Please help.
Mines was in the Applications Drawer at the bottom... and I added a Shortcut on my desktop for it too
It is not there. Even in the user manual it says it is there but I could not find it.
maybe you got one with a prototype-firmware. Check if you can get an update
hi man i knw this is off ur topic but just want to ask how much does it cost to buy an x10 from dubi i have family there i want to see if its cheaper than lebanon thanks and wish u found the markit thing take care...
Big shops (Axiom, S DJ, ..etc) AED 3000
Other small shops (after long search) AED 2700
I got confirmation that market is not allowed by Telcom Regularity Authority in UAE. That is why it is not included in the device.
U need to flash to a UK version - It should be availble in some shops
No YouTube App and Hyves for TimeScape
I'm not missing the Market app... I'm missing the YouTube app ... and also Hyves for timescape I am missing :'(
According the update program which I have download, I have the latest firmware 1.0.14
no market
hi i just bought an x10 from uae. its very unfortunate that uae has blocked or not allowed the market app in android phones, however if i update my software as ive heared that version2.1 will be released shortly
q1)will my x10 work in india? i mean the market app.
q2)can i download any other third party software? if yes from where?
1) it's firmware related - so it won't work in india either, as long you haven't updated the firmware.
2) yes - just search google for "*.apk"
you'll have to find a file-manager like "astro".
it would be much easier as soon as you get a different firmware.
I have a hong kong xperia x10 (I dont think its branded) and i don't have Playnow. Is there a way to get Playnow on my phone?

hoping that I'm not stating the obvious here.. have you all gone into mediascape, press the Menu hard button, select "music home settings"; select show on-line service.. then when you come back out of MS it will be showing at the bottom of the music home screen.
Apologies if you've already tried this!
PlayNow is not on Canadian Rogers X10a either If I activate the online service under Mediascape I got some stupid Rogers' urMusic service
the only thing i get when i press the menu is get album artwork.
same here, only album art
Same here missing since I did the SEUS update after the OTA update whilst trying to see if SEUS had a later update than 020

does anyone happen to have the playnowupdater.apk? my playnow only has a very few free apps and games, but no media such as music at all, wondering if this is due to restriction on the current version.

i believe it is because there is no play now online store in your current market for xperia x10 yet. This happens to me in US. Only a few free apps and games. no others stuffs are available.

Hi, I know I've read of other people having the same problem I'm having where there are apparently missing from the market. Has anyone found a solution?

Which root method did you use? I had the market issues with the first couple of root versions, but my phone and the market are working perfectly now with the latest 3 step version. Im also using market enabler with no issues either. Would consider re-rooting with the newest method. Really doesnt take very long once you get used to it.

I've used the latest R2B020 3 step method (with steps 4 and 5 for my Rogers X10a). Still can't find Pure Calendar Widget, or Tapatalk Pro. I should try enabler...
He's got a point.. There used to be an app before on the market called countouch launcher but somehow disappeared from mine!!
Everything else is perfect though.. removed alot of the built in apps and it runs smooth as ever for me
All thanx to the geniuses who rooted this phone!!

There is a problem because of the region the firmware's from.
I got market enabler, but there's some apps I want that I still don't see in the market
If anyone knows how to configure market enabler to allow stuff from rogers (canada) that'd be great

Yeah, got the same issues with my X10a. Market enabler app is quite simple really. all it does is use the MCC MNC codes (see wikipedia) for you mobile operator and sets them in some config files (see the wiki on market enabler project hosting website).
There is something much deeper going on here. I had purchased UltimateJuice before rooting with the crappy Japanese Firmware and market was able to find it after the root as well. But, this time around with the R2BA020 firmware... not quite so.
I wrote to the developer of UltimateJuice and he mentioned that Android Market terms forbid some access to rooted/custom firmwares. Personally I don't see how how Google manages to enforce that.
There is certainly some way in which we can tweak around the settings somewhere to make Android Market realize that we are legit. I mean look at brut.all's google navigation hack...
EDIT: I did try almost all the market enabler settings but didn't manage to to see my app. The developer told me that he had create a version specifically for that situation (its called UltimateJuice (Alternate))... lacking more details, I dont know what that means...
Interesting... I don't think root has anything to do with it though because I have been missing these Alps since I flashed r2ba020 originally (the telenor one).
I too can confirm that market enabler does not work. What I'm wondering is if Google is limiting the apps in some way because the firmware us new.

I think it's some kind of market bug. I had the same when I debranded from 1.0.14 o2 to 1.0.16 generic.
After some weeks everything worked fine again. So I think google has to unlock new firmware for their market ?!?
Make sure you system kill (with taskpanel etc) the market after you make changes with market enabler. Maybe obvious, but some may forget.a
i'm having almost the same problem, i tried download the market enabler and and tried to view in market for paid software but cant see any also, i used appbrain i can see a few only but not much at all
I'm also having some problems with the market, before root I had an app called myplayer which was a bbc iplayer app.
Can anyone else who is in the UK check the market to see if you can find this app?

I believe this is dependent on the firmware region that you use to root the device. The myPlayer app is restricted to the UK only, so if the firmware is not officially recognised as a UK build you will not be able to see the app on the Android Market.

I am not rooted.

Thanks a lot for checking mate.
I have now installed Market Enabler, according to it I was already identifying as Orange UK (234-33). I have tried all other UK network codes and still cannot see the myplayer app.
Does anyone have a link to the .apk file so I can bypass the market altogther?
Issues
I am another proud owner of a rooted x10a (now x10i)
But I got problems, I cannot sent MMS with the rooted phone, it just looks like im missing an app because, but i don't know where to find it, and I have the right APNs. So if someone can help us out with this issue I'll will be very grateful.
Also timescape is missging the facebook and tweeter plug-ins :-S
You guys are my best shot
Now, this is interesting to me. I tried to do the rooting option, but I got stuck on step 2, which couldn't find my device. So I used SEUS to update, and it let me update to R2BA020. I assumed that, coming through SEUS, this would be an official, unrooted update, as if I was going back to the default (although it came on O2 in the UK with the R_whateveritwas_016 firmware). I didn't like the idea that a rooted phone caused a few issues anyway, but the R2BA020 update has made a HUGE difference to my battery life.
Then I noticed that the O2 branding had gone - not much, just O2 updates in Timescape that I didn't want anyway...
But I noticed that my lovely Death Star Clock was no longer in the market, and MyPlayer also has gone...
Dang... so it seems like my phone no longer thinks I am in the UK or something.
I've got Beebplayer though, which I preferred to MyPlayer anyway.
But, it's a bugger... I LOVED my Death Star clock!
Hi There;
I dunno if anyone else is having this problem but, even though the BBC have now released iPlayer for Android in the Market, I couldn't find it on my Archos Internet 70 (Arctools installed market). Tried the Market 'fix' a couple of times to see if anything new would turn up with no luck.
Anyway I managed to download it on the wife's Galaxy Tab and transfer it to my Archos. Doesn't seem to work with live TV too well but otherwise it's working very well.
So, if you need it here it is.
It is supposed to be for the UK only, which is why it isn't showing in the market. If you do you live in the UK, that's a whole new ballgame...
I do live in the UK, so I guess that isn't it.
Thanks for the apk, I'll give it a try. I was looking for the iPlayer as well.
It won't work for me in Ireland - aren't the BBC great is there something to screen my IP address in Android like I can do on my PC?
My Archos is rooted and I change the gsm code inside to one of UK operator by Market Access app, then BBC iplayer shows up in Google Market.
Though I can run the app and it shows all catalogs of video/radio, I can't play them because it says only for UK.
Any workaround trick to make it play for non-UK?
