[Q] Sleep/Wake button having slow response? - Vibrant General

When I press the lock button, it takes about 4-5 seconds for the screen to turn on. I did not have this problem until today, which is when I repartitioned my sd card and flashed JAC's kernel. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Or a fix for it?

I am gonna go out on a limb here and assume you didn't read the JAC kernel post prior to posting this lol. All kidding aside this is a known issue with the JAC kernel and I'm sure it won't be long until it's figured out.

Screens that loose responsiveness on froyo.

It has become quite clear that there is a small unlucky group of us that experience touch screen unresponsiveness at various times, mostly on froyo roms.

Clearly I realize there are other threads that have discussed this in the past. I would like to find out just how common this problem really is and what we can do to fix it.
My personal experience: My screen works almost flawlessly on any eclair rom. Every froyo rom I have flashed (almost all the super cleans, vanilla AOSP, MIUI etc) I will experience unresponsive spots on the touch screen. Typically it starts in the lower left 1/4 then spreads to the entire screen. A brief lock and unlock of the phone usually gets it working again, only to return a few moments later. When my factory Samsung charger is plugged in the screen is completely useless.
Originally I thought it was a kernel problem but it still happens on the new OE released EC10 kernel as well as on the AOSP built ones. I think it is a hardware problem on certain phones. Why only froro? I have no idea.
Please participate in my survey so we can figure out how bad this really is.
I have also have the screen responsiveness issues. The middle of the screen becomes unresponsive and I have to lock and unlock to get the screen to work. This is only an issue with froyo ROMs. My wife has a fascinate and even though I flashed her phone the same way, she never has had screen responsiveness issues.

Excellent information, same method different results. Only difference, the phones themselves.
So far, my Fascinate is running SC 2.9. 2 with absolutely no problems. Did it take a while for those symptoms to start or was it right away?

It always happened right away (sometimes within a few hours). I should point out this is not developer related. I have the same problems on fully bloated stock roms. I should have mentioned that in the op.
If you Odin back to stock DI01, does it still happen? If so, it sounds like a hardware defect. I, for one, have never seen any screen responsiveness issues at all on my phone, no matter which kernel or rom I'm on.

I am having the same issue. Mine is most often around the letters "s" and "k" and it seems intermittent. I was running DJ05 up until a few weeks ago. Then I flashed an EB01 kernel with DarkRevenge, and started to notice this problem. No issues when running DJ05.

Yes, I tried this too. Along with various cocktails of wiping and clearing cache's, no change.
*When I return to any eclair rom it works fine, again why only with froyo??
Just flashed JT's new EC10 kernel and so far no screen responsiveness issues (8+ hours), I'll keep you posted.
Update: my screen responsiveness issues have come back.

I had this problem on some versions of SC 2.8 and at first with 2.9, but now on SC 2.9.2 I haven't had it.
Mine was mostly around letters O, I, N, K, but also sometimes E, R, A, and S. It usually happened after I had already pressed the letter. Take for example this message "I ran into...." I could type the letter I to start, but when I came to it again, it wouldn't register. Same with the letter N.
I had this happen after flashing certain themes. If I ran the ROM themeless, it wouldn't happen.
Factory wiped, ROM (2.9.2) refreshed, and have been running Nitsuj's gb theme with no probs for a few days now.

Just did the whole process twice, no change. . . It always seems to be okay at first but a little while later it rears it's ugly head. While in portrait mode if you bisect the phone vertically it is the right hand side that goes dead, the left works fine.

Ditto on mine. After a while it becomes so bad that it happens everytime after it goes to sleep by itself. I would have to reboot to keep it going ok for awhile.

Yep same thing here. Not sure when it started but it was most prominent with maybe SC2.8 I think.
It seemed to go away with SC 2.9, but it happens ever now and then.
Always the right side of the screen, simply turn the screen on/off to fix.

[Solved] Weird Lines During Boot Up

I recently noticed something weird on my Galaxy S. I should point out I am running Darky's Rom (9.5).
Everytime I start (or restart) the phone some weird lines come up for a second or so on the top of the screen while the Galaxy S logo is displayed. I have uploaded a quick video to youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sGbpU6s_38)
I have since reflashed the phone and the lines still persist.
This problem occured after my phone randomly crashed and I had to perform a factory wipe.
Other than the lines during start up, I have had no issues since they came up 2 days ago. No further crashes, the lines don't display anywhere else, nothing.
My question:
Should I be worried and could this possibly be a hardware fault? I am sure its not the screen as the lines only pop up quickly during boot up. I fear if it could be cpu, graphics or ram related.
Any opinion or advice welcome!
Is anyone else experiencing this or has experienced it?
I have the same problem with darkys rom 9.5 :S
I dont think it is bad for your phone...
I have this almost a month and no other problems at all

this issue is kernel related, and i bet almost everyone with a custom ROM would of experienced it.
as mentioned above, it is no problem, it wont cause damage. its just one of them annoying niggles what make you think ' **** my phone.... its dying' but its not.
when a newer update for the kernel comes out the issue will most likely go away.
Thanks for the replies! Eases my fears. I guess I just got a fright because it happened (or at least I only noticed it) after the phone randomly crashed
you just assumed that was the culprit.
mine happened 3 weeks after flashing a ROM i just assumed thats what caused it because that was the last thing i did.
turned out to be nothing and now i can sleep again
it is a little 'glitch' with some kernels. don't worry, doesn't harm the phone

Touchscreen issue on 2.3.4 ROMs

I just tried out 3 different ROMS. Cherryblur, Ninja, and Red Pill. All three of them cause my touchscreen to be unresponsive at times. When I try to interact with my phone a lot, sometimes I have to wait a couple seconds before I can actually press on what I want to press on. Does anybody have issues like that? I went back to 1.83 and everything is dandy. Is there a fix for this? Haven't seen anything like this yet on the forums.

I don't think that's what my issue is. Anyone know what I need to do to fix it? It's quite annoying.
For background:
I was on 1.8.3 and decided to jump to a GB ROM today. Went with Cherryblur at first. Noticed the lag, so I tried Red Pill and then settled on Ninja. However, Ninja is still giving me these touchscreen lag issues. When CWM'ing new ROMS I ALWAYS wiped data/cache/Dalvik. Then I would install the ROMs on CWM and apply jug's battery fix. Was there anything else I needed to do? I figured I shouldn't be SBFing anyways.

4 people in this thread do have his ROM (GTASK) installed and that's more or less what I was hinting at. It doesn't help the OP at all to be on a stock rom (I'm assuming w/ lack of posts to get to the dev section) and 4 people...5 if you count me on Galaxy Task ROMS coming in saying, ya I have this problem too. Could they be releated, yes. But those people should be posting in Task's thread.
As for the OP...have you ran any updates? Stock ROM? Stock kernel? Is it freezing while doing something w/ the tab. Or the sleep of death as another poster alluded to which is basically when the tablet is in sleep mode or the screen is off and when you go to bring the screen back on it never wakes up.

Interesting. I've experienced one freeze and it locked up solid with the screen on. I was doing too much "multitasking" if you will, while a crap load of updates were downloading and installing. It wreaked havoc on the stock Touchwiz/3.2 but other than that, haven't had any problems.
Acually I'm on kang ics right now and I still have the issue, it not only freezes in mid use but also while in sleep mode. It happens occasionally, but it gets quite annoying....I'm taking it back to best buy tomorrow for the transformer prime good decision?

I've read about the GPS and wifi issues. It might have been fixed with the ics update. Check out their forums
Since I bought my tablet I've had issues where, generally when browsing, the screen would become unresponsive. Hitting the power or volume buttons worked but nothing from touching the screen. I originally was hard resetting the device and then I figured out that if I just power the screen off and back on that the touch panel would work again. This was all on the stock TW honeycomb non-rooted
I originally tried the third version of the ICS rom and never saw the touch panel issue but when I upgraded to the latest version recently I started seeing it again. I recently needed to have hardware acceleration on my tab so dropped back to Task's rom and it's doing it as well.
As I said it's usually when I'm in the browser but not always. I've seen it happen with PULSE (which uses the browser embedded) as well.
Not sure if this is the same thing you all are seeing or not but it's really annoying.

[Q] A500 Lag During Charging

Hello all, I have 1 issue with my A500. Only during charger plug in, my tab become super lag. This problem started when I doing overclock using flexreaper extreme.
Tried to flash new kernel from eztery, upgrade bootloader to v8, and flash lightspeed ics rom. None of these works as I still have this problem. Even on recovery screen, my tab is not responsive when charger plugged in.
I don't know what caused this. Is anyone having the same problem? Please help.
im on the same but no probs while charging, maybe titanium backup,. nandroid and wipe all and re-install flexreaper
actually i've tried that already. Real format and wipe all and flash different rom and kernel. Strangely it just heppen while charging. Do you think this is hardware problem?

def take it back and get a replacement that's a hardware flaw another member posted about that then eventually his tab died and wouldnt charge up, if i was you matey i would take it back asap to show them the whining sound so they cannot say you did something to break it, plus you'll have that noted down incase they dont do anything and it then does break.

Tried that already, still have problem. I can minimize the problem by increasing the minimum frequency to 600+MHz.
The whine could also be capacitors (if any) on the logic board that are about to burst or something. Or something is overloaded and getting stressed out.
I don't believe its lag. The switching power supply causes some touch screens (such as mine) to become less sensitive requiring much harder finger presses

If it worked on other versions, just flash back to what worked before or back to ota for real proof. You said it worked till you changed software, so change back and prove it's not hardware.

I found some weird results by making a circuit. Try touching the tab with one finger and a laptop track pad with another. There's a tingle. I think it's a design defect internally - perhaps the screen assembly is touching something it shouldn't be. So in terms of a solution, I don't believe there is one, unless there's a way to earth the screen?

I have once dissemble the back cover. I'm not sure whether this is where the problem started. But I don't have this problem initially. Something is wrong with my device, just don't know where's the problem come from. I might touch something causing short circuit or something.
Tried flashing the stock ROM and still no luck. I don't think its a software issue.

Perhaps it is to do with the consistency of the power supply. My house is pretty old so I suppose there would be more voltage variation. When I get home I'll try and find a spare surge protector and see if it stops the issues. The actual existence of the issues is pretty sporadical though. There is no clear answer to this.
I do think you're onto something though
