HD2 Image Backup - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I want to install and play around with the Android ROMs that are available for HD2. I was wondering if there is a way I can make an image of my ROM as it is right now, and later on flash it back if I don't like the Android ROM on my HD2.

Save time and read the 1st and 2nd sticky posts on this page. Everything you need to know is all there. Also, I know rules are a b*tch, also explained there, make sure you follow them and avoid any incoming angry posts about not using the "search" function. To answer your question, Android runs off the memory card so windows is shut down prior to booting android, they're isolated for the most part. Hope that helps.

I know that Android runs off the SD card, but that was not my question. They recommend that a very light version of WM be installed prior to running Android and I can understand why. However, if I install the light version of WM I will loose whatever I currently have. That is why I am wondering if there a way I can create an image backup of my current ROM.

Are you running a stock rom? There's a sticky in the tmousa rom section with links to all the stock roms. It's easier to just grab a copy, you'll just need to back up your data.

Yes... I am runing a stock ROM. Any good backup apps to recomand that can backup my programs, settings and data?

I didn't change my WM ROM, it's shut down by haret. So unless you're having specific problems like that awful robovoice then you shouldn't worry about changing your rom. As for backup, I use SPB or Sprite backup, the latter my preference.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

I use SPB...works the best IMO. I've actually had to use it a few times after changing the zimage...it seems to kill my sense every time I load a new zimage.

I get that bad robot voice, what to doo you recommend I switch to? I have a stock Rom right now with the latest radio.

Use 2.12.50.02.2 radio..

Nexus One Root/unroot and space pls help

Ok fellas! Im new to this world of android just bought a newsu one last night Its used and rooted. I installed bunch of apps and after a bit it gave me an alert of low space/memory. Never had this with my x10 . so i was wondering may be its cus o the root if yes? Do u recmnd unrooting to clear space? And in case of unrooting any help /guide would be much appreciated.
Also i saw the update alert ast night fo 2.2.1 but when i tried to update it it wa stuck on a black screen with a android(green guy) and a exclamation mark. so i r/s the phone again and ignore the update anyhelp. please...
Thanks a bunch.
The ROM would effect the lack of space, but having root shouldn't. It more likely the apps though.
Just try moving some apps to your SD (menu> settings> applications> manage applications... sort by size [menu key], then select an app. In each app there's an option to move to SD. Some will move, some won't)
There's plenty of discussions on the update, but it's probably failing because you're not stock...

So what should i do to get the update ..get the phone unroot??
First, decide if you want the update, or if you want a custom ROM...
I've not tried the update, so I can't make any recommendations.

http://theunlockr.com/downloads/android-downloads/android-roms/nexus-one-roms/
Both of them were awesome, right now I have the mdaco one, but the there are few problems.
*. Showed still on 2.1 in setting.
*. GPS isn't locking.
*. Bluetooth isnt working.
*. When Im trying to lock the phone by pressing the power button it locks but wont go to sleep(back light is still on).
*. Power button won't work if i try to shutdown/put phone on vibrate/airplane mode/.
so far these are the problems im facing.
Does anyone nows a better stable Sense ROM?? Please advise.. Thanks.

Stock 2.2 good battery?

So every 2.3 build I try I get standby battery drain. I tried cleandroid 2.2 but it has force close issues.
What's a daily use 2.2 non sense build
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Preferably cwm
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I using lesjaws Jaws MIUI
I'm happy with it. Battery usage its about the same like on all non sense biulds on standby.
But I like how its look and all. Its simple, fast and more important its really stable.
I have not reboots or any weird things with it.
It definitely worth of try.
Has some complicated instructions... with current magdlr and cwm on a 1024 what's the easiest way to flash it?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
its just look a bit complicated but trust me its not.
U can check my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11060340&postcount=910
And than just download all necessary files from first post.
After u have all downloaded follow the 2nd post. If u have T-mob HD2 use this
settings for config.txt. Its from 2nd post
3. if you want to use nand as data, set config.txt as : (very usefull if you have t-Mob HD2)
data_img=0
data_size=1024
data_ext=0
sd_boost=0
nand_data=1
format_ext4=0
lcd_density=240
gps_zone=id
If u will need more help just post on lesjaws thread and someone definitely help u.

ROM Manager downloads for HD2

Will all us HD2 users ever be able to download .zip ROMs straight from ROM Manager? And possibly even have Cyanogen nightly support for HD2?
I was just wondering as this would make installing new ROMs so much easier, instead of having to connect to my PC etc.
Replies welcome.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
isnt that what CWM does? you download the zip to your phone and flash fromthe phone, no need to hook to a pc
Yes but so far there is no support for HD2
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
Just come on here through mobile and download that way, how easier could it get?
Yes but it would be much more practical, and we wouldn't be able to receive nightlies, and not all Roms are on here! If you look in rom manager in the desire sections there are lots of roms I have never seen mentioned on xda before
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
I can't download hyperdroid from rom manager it says file is corrupt
Also cyanogen 7.0 does download but. When its done it ask me to clear data and it then reboots
To my old Rom.

Youre right.
I use desire z, and has Rom Manager installed.
If I want to flash new rom, I just open the ROM Manager and let it download and run it. And it will reboot to the new rom (custom Rom, actually)
But, I usually cannot stay long, I always go back to stock rom because I really miss sense UI
Cheers

copy your sd card files over to pc which includes all your backup of titanium onit, once you have flashed rom, formatted sd etc and new rom is installed get titanium backup back off the market copy your sd files back and then restore but if you are changing roms completely and not doing an update id recommend just doing a back up of your apps because if you restore over your existing settings it may corrupt the rom (NOT TO SURE NOT TRIED IT MYSELF)
Very thanks for all good roms & answers.can you help me too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16145088#post16145088

After root app

I just rooted my phone. And i just need to know what apps should i install after i root my phone.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
If you don't know what to do after a root why did you do it?
Most people get rid of bloatware or try different roms like cyanogenmod, miui or roms with sense 3.
I need root for running a samba server (windows file share) so it's more easy to get photos from and mp3s to the phone. Apart from that i only wanted to get rid of bloatware so my phone would drain the battery more slowly.
I rooted my phone just to oc it. But then i heard if rooted phone can get free apps. Is it true??
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Besides oc, there are many other changes, such as boot animation, splash screen, recovery, backup and particularly cooked ROM. CM7, MIUI, ARHD and etc does improve the phone stability, reception, and make your phone versatile. I read one quote in this forum that these ROM makes your US$400 phone becoming US$600 performance.
The best way to make use of a rooted phone is to read and search within threads. Make your choices and ask when you meet problem.

free apps on the market are still free
and installing illegal downloaded apps that cost money on the market....that is possible without rooting.
There are very few apps that need root and normally you will never need them.
With a few exceptions: the app "AdFree" removes almost every in-app ad....and you can use "setCPU" to over- or underclock your phone.
If you really need it (like me) then have a look at cifsmanager....you can mount network shares with that so you can stream videos from every share/computer without having to download them to your phone first. I like it but it's not for everybody...

If you mean Free paid apps then no It is not and no one on XDA will tell you how to do this. If you want an app then buy it if it is not free

This is the one that i really really want. Now i use ARHD OC to 1.6ghz set by daemon controller. Already flash blueHD themes,Beats audio system and some rooted apps like addfree.. is there anything else that can i do??
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Just search the forum. You'll figure out more than anyone can tell you in a few posts. After flashing a ROM there are a whole lot of mods that you can flash to customize it to your liking. The main purpose of rooting is to have complete control over your phone. What you do after that depends on you. Look around.
Think about Titanium Backup. You could Backup your Apps and settings, if you want to change your ROM later.

I just flash rcmix kernel.. then my usb became failure.. how to back to normal???
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Flash a different kernel... ie lordmod's sense kernels (NOT THE AOSP!) or leedroids..
BTW what version of RCMix Kernel did you flash?
Only because I'm currently using RCMix V11.1 CFS no call record, and I've no problems with usb... at least i don't think so anyways...
As for what app to use post ROOT, I'd say either Mybackup or Titanium backup to start clearing bloatware as well as backing up your apps with its data ready for restore on a new ROM.. ^_~
Terminal emulator is useful too! ^_^
The kernel that i flash is 2.6.35 rcmix... Should i downgrade??
Now i got some problem.. everytime im in game mode.. my phone suddenly restart by itself. Why is this happen?? Is the rom problem or phone??
