Hallo,
I have experimented a bit with the settings in SetCPU and achieved a score of 1870 and more with Quadrant.

Hi,

hey what do you get for linpack?
after reading this, i tried installing MattcFroyo 1.5 with Overclock Kernel on my original T-Mobile USA 16 GB SD card; but inside a folder, that i named android3.
my high score is only 1522
what else, if anything, did you do to optimize MattcFroyo 1.5 with Overclock Kernel?
are you using fullram?
are you using 1GB data?
thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Shubcraft's 1.2 zimage wasn't the fullram one. If you downloaded a fullram zimage, you have to change your startup.txt to reflect the new ram. Offhand I don't know the settings but it's floating around here somewhere.
Also, my setcpu doesn't have all those fields. Using 2.02 which is the latest I think, so not sure why. Anyway, I'm still getting my usual 1600+ so I'm happy.

i copied Mattc 1.5 Froyo Build fix with zImage_925mv_v0.3 to the sdcard (replacing STARTUP.txt, system.ext2, and zImage to enable the low voltage overclocking kernel)
i booted into android
i ran quadrant and score in the 1400s
i installed setCPU

run the tests a few times (at least 3) in a row, or are you doing that already?
with the new mattc build I am getting ~1400 on the first run but after 3 or 4 runs i'm getting ~1650-1690.
with mattc 1.5 +fullram 'fix' i was getting 1300-1550
SetCPU using ondemand, (i actually find it more conservative than the conservative governor plus the performance is equal or better)
Well this is my score i got once with the full ram kernel mattc leo 1.5
everything is stock with no overclock. I was using Launcher Pro instead of Sense.
Mhm with shu8i 1.3 i get only 1445 or something like that ... but I also had to use Quadrant 1.0.2 , the newest version on Android Market don't works :/
Little suspicious of some of these scores. I suspect photoshop.

After some days of testing the new kernel I decided to share it with everyone,
Now just to make things clear, the disclaimer:
Use it at your own risk, If you are unsure of what you are doing please do not flash this kernel.
As a rule of thumb ALWAYS do a nandroid backup first. I will not be responsible for any damage you may get and
I'm almost sure that flashing this boot image will void your warranty, but if you are reading this forum certainly you already did it.

HW version: v0.4
AMSS version: A1-02.01.03
Build Date: Jan 26 2010, 14:29:43
Instructions:
1. Read the disclaimer.
2. Do a nandroid backup.
3. Download and unpack the zip file.
4. Enter bootloader.
5. Do in console/cmd:
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0502 flash boot <boot image name>
fastboot -i 0x0502 reboot
6. Have fun
I didn't posted the unrooted version because when you flash this kernel you will be voiding your warranty (if you already didn't), so doesn't make sense to keep your phone unrooted, unless you really want it.. If thats the case, contact me..
As you may know, this was build from a kernel source that has some bugs on it, so, you may experience some erros.. Didn't found any, but if you find please report..
Dmesg will output some errors, but for now they are armless..
GREAT WORK!
Havn't tested it out yet, gonna do it after tomorrow since I need my phone at work tomorrow.
Is there a noticeable speed-difference when using the 1ghz-version?
Nice work mate!
I'm using the 765Mhz version without any problem. Can anyone tell if the 1GHz causes the phone to overheat?

There is no overheat on the phone but didn't gave it intensive use yet..
On benchmarks it has significant improvement, but the phone normally has no lag, so, there is almost nothing to be noted ..
finally... in front of a computer... gonna try now!!! u da man disc0!
EDIT: everything working great so far loving the multitouch in dolphin!
testing 1ghz settings
It would be really great if we could have SetCPU working with 1ghz enabled to preserve battery life.
EDIT : I've emailed SETCPU's developer to ask him to set something like he did for the Droid (some kind of autodetection).

You can add the information to setcpu.txt with the cpu speeds in the sdcard , but would be great to have support directly from the menu ..

It wont overheat the qsd8X50 was meant to run at 1ghz.
i'm running it at 1ghz no overheating problems at all for now neighter does the battery run out of juice faster, incredibly the opposite is the case it seems to last a bit longer, maybe cause of the optimized kernel

1) Installed CM 5.071 and downloaded all my apps.
2) Re-installed Mybackup pro, answered yes to all the root questions.
3) Backed up all my apps
4) Followed the how to install froyo over CM

Not to take away from the benchmark comparing that this thread turned into. But you do know that froyo auto installs all of your apps when your sync the first time right? Flash -> wait about 15 mins (depending on # of apps you had installed before) -> open drawer -> tada!
The app restore I knew about, but missing all the good apps
Also,
How do you flash a new kernal or where are these kernals, that will work with froyo??

Either install home switcher (free in market) or go into settings/applications/running/launcher and clear defaults.
Thank you so much! Solved!
Another question. Using Quadrant i reach different results switching off 3g-2g and killing ,a second before the test, all the app. Is the same to you?
This is simple app that I created to show some info about CPU frequencies and governor.
It's still in development state, but it has what I need to show how CPU governor is doing it's work! It refreshes every 2 seconds.
I tested it on CM 6.1, but it should work on others.
You need to have cpufreq_stats module loaded to get some statistics, and it needs root permission.
Also please note, that cpufreq_stats should be loaded after defining frequencies and setting active governor, otherwise it may collect not so correct data!!
In 0.1 version I added cpufreq_stats.ko binary, so if your ROM doesn't have it, you can TRY to install it. But before you try it, NANDROID YOUR SYSTEM! This modifies 10overclock file, and if something goes wrong, you may end up in boot loop!!!!
If something is missing, or FC, please post output of this commands:
Code:
# find /sys/devices/system/cpu/
# lsmod
and what ROM/device are you using.
Any comments and suggestions are welcome!!
I hope you'll find it usefull!
Compatibility list:
- CyanogenMod 6.1
- MIUI 12-17
- HO!NO!
- Cronos 1.7
- TheFroyoMOD 2.1.2
Module tested on:
- CyanogenMOD 7 RC0
- The FroyoMOD 2.5
- Leaked APAC rom
This should work on any rooted rom and any device; please report back your findings, with exact version or rom and device. If you have any other device with rooted ROM, try it if you like it and report back your findings...
Change log:
06.03.2011, 13:25, v0.1
- Changed startup screen, and now you can even disable it!!
- Changed logic that interacts with system, so it should have faster startup and less CPU usage. Because of this, it will ask root permission again!
- Included cpufreq_stats.ko module, for witch I hope is generic, and it should work on any 2.2 and newer rom. I didn't tested it on 2.1!!!!!
02.01.2011, 09:13, v0.05
- changed reading logic, too small change for new version. If previous 0.05 is working for you, you don't need to redownload!
01.01.2011, 17:15, v0.05
- Additional error checking, hopefully all FC's are prevented
- If module cpufreq_stats is not loaded, it will display warning but it will continue to work. So if you have custom build kernel with compiled in cpufreq_stats, it should work!
- Added welcome dialog
- Added system report generator. This will collect data about your phone that I think is needed to detect where the problem is, or to support new devices. This file will be saved to "/sdcard/CPUStats_sysprofile.txt". Please check file content and if you don't like some data inside remove it, and please report what have you removed. And if you agree, send me that file in PM or attach to this thread (I would prefer PM!).
- If some data cannot be read, it will display values -1 or 0. Usually that means that you don't have cpufreq_stats module, or you are running other device than Motorola Milestone!.
- Happy New year!!!!
22.12.2010, 19:40, v0.04
- OK, thanks to great hint from coolbho3000, finally current frequency works as it should!!! and app starts much faster!
- Refresh time reduced to 1 sec!
- On startup, app will change permission of files that needs to be read to "read to all" (a+r). I don't see that as security issue (in fact only one file doesn't have right permissions, but i decided to check all files), but if you do this that this is security issue, then DON'T INSTALL OR RUN 0.04 version!!!!!
- These files are checked and their permissions are modified as needed:
Code:
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_cur_freq
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_min_freq
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_max_freq
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/stats/total_trans
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/stats/time_in_state
/proc/overclock/mpu_opps
19.12.2010, 15:00, v0.03
- All frequencies are listed, no matter did they been used or not.
- Checks is cpufreq_stats module is loaded, and exists app if not
- removed few loops from code, only one left, lower CPU usage , and possibly prevented some of FC if files are missing...
18.12.2010, 17:30, v0.02
- Added percentages to display
- Calculating deepsleep time
- NEEDS ROOT, because only root can get current cpu frequency, it will ask you 2 or 3 times, and you will probably want to check remember because of loop...
(although it doesn't work too effectively, so you will probably get max speed)
17.12.2010, 20:35, ver 0.01
- Added vsel values to display
- Small adjustments to UI
- Added version
- Not working: current cpu freq!? (if someone is willing to help PM me)
- Changed refresh rate to 2 sec
TODO:
- check are required modules loaded
- ability to change refresh rate (not needed??)
- better use of superuser (anyone willing to help??!) (maybe done...)

v0.01:
P.S.: file without version name is old one, 0.01!!
Nice! Will try it out.
this is such a nice and simple app. i love it! thank you amossam!
amossam said:
This is simple app that I created to show some info about CPU frequencies and governor.
It's still in very early state, but it has what I need to monitor CPU governor! It refreshes every 1 second.
I tested it on CM 6.1, but it should work on others. You need to have cpufreq_stats module loaded to get some statistics, and it doesn't need root permission!
(...)
Any comments and suggestions are welcome!!
I hope you'll find it usefull!

Hope you are working to add vsel setting to stats.
Regards and thanks again!

it doesn't matter what governor is active, just checked!
can you post result of shell commands in OP ?
thx
@amossam:
Would it be possible for you to show the percentage of time in state?
Like:
1000Mhz 20%
500Mhz 20%
250Mhz 60%
Then there are just to things left I miss A shortcut to the app which shows you the time in sleepmode (don't know its name) and a shortcut to battery-consumption overview
Thx in advance

Hey! thx for suggestions...
Time in sleep mode? That is diference between "Total system uptime" and "Uptime". If that, I can add it to display. Or do you mean on SpareParts?
And battery-consumption overview from SpareParts? Well, i can only do shortcut to SpareParts because it has only MainActivity exposed...
Will do, probably this afternoon...

You can install but you can t use it for anything. . You need to flash an OC kernel in order to OC.
Just changed the values in SetCPU. I will post soon how the battery life is.

There is an update.zip for it in the fourth page of that thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134369&page=4
Thanks to this post my phones battery is going to last a lot longer May i ask, how do you take a screenshot on your phone?
I use G3Mod Ultimate 1.3.4 200-1200 Mhz and I keep it simple
I have just one option enabled in profile, which is if temp > 40 clock 200-400 conservative
Rest I have kept it at 200-800 Mhz On Demand at all times.
When I play Games I set it to 600-1200 On Demand.
I have been using it since 1.3.4 G3Mod Ultimate was released, and have not faced any Overheating, Lags, freezes what so ever. It does last around 1.5 to 2 days.
My quadrant score (ofcourse other tweaks as mentioned in my signature also applies)
at 600-800 on demand is around 590
at 600-1200 on demand is around 710

You can search Market for apk named Screenshot IT
Or you can just hold down the back button and press the home key for a screen shot
Sent from my GT-I5800 using Tapatalk
Best way of taking screenshot is through Qtadb
It can take screenshots in any apps
back key+home doesnt work in some apps

I have 1.8 performance kernel. How do i flash 1.9 with cwm? i won't lose any data right?
Does my battery need to be 100% to do that? Thanks for all the great work and support
EDIT: The "g3mod_froyo_v1.9_performance.zip " is for cwm?
And the "g3mod_froyo_v1.9_performance.tar " is for odin?
Maybe you should have put cwm or odin in the names, like in the last version
I really need help with my g3 i had g3 mod 1.6 ultimate but phone freezes too much like 5 times in 30 min if i use it if i don't use it for about 2h it freezes and then i tryed 1.5 ultimate because someone told me that is more stable the same thing happens when i play games my cpu is max 1000 min 600 and it just freezes so is there anyway to have 1000-1200 MHZ without that much freezes i now use fugumod but it is only 800 MHZ all games LAG
It's unstable
g3mod kernel (froyo) v. 1.9 extreme is unstable. I belive it has some issues with overclocking (or cpu speeds in general).
The phone freezes or screen simply crashes (goes black although backlight remains on).
It happens almost exclusively when manipulating main profile cpu speeds (because SetCPU says that it runs on 800MHz when it should be 1400MHz so I try to "help" him - and then it crashes/freezes).
Now, I assume you're going to tell me to try lower freq. kernel like performance or such but I do wan't to. g3mod 1.8 extreme did not have such issues.
ROM is currently Kyrillos 7.1, flashed by ODIN, not cwm or multiboot, cache, dalvik and data wiped. Have flashed it recently so there is a possibility that it might be rom issue although i've been running kyrillos 7.1 on g3 1.8 kernel for about a day and it wasn't crashing (not once). v. 1.9 crashed one way or another ~6 times in the last 2 hours.
Will flash back g3 1.8 (extreme, of course) and test it thoroughly to see whether it will crash so I'll report you with info if you're interested.

Same here. FuguMod Ultra is more stable and have better performance.
me too.... Fugu Mod ultra is stable and faster and better performance... Why cant someone use FuguMod kernal with CWM recovery.......
FeedBack
Flashed yesterday v1.9 of g3mod. Working fine with min freq as 100 and max as 1000 and odemand scaling. Pretty stable. Enjoyed using it. Hope that you continue to bring new feautures in g3mod kernel. Loved it. hats off to the team.
Best part of 1.9 - 100mhz steppings.
EDIT: YEpp there are some crashes. It happens that when the Screen is switched off in sleep mode it crashes and then when I press power or home button nothing happens
I agree that fugu ultra is quite good, has been stable for me at 1.3 ghz and perfomance is very good. But i still somehow prefer g3mod. It is very good, excelent performance... I sincerely hope that the team will make it stable in future versions as well. Speaking of which...
Have flashed g3mod kernel 1.8 this morning and have had no crashes nor freezes. Rom is still kyrillos 7.1. It's been aprox. 4 hrs now and all is well, unlike 1.9 which crashed almost immediately. I've been manipulating each and every aspect of setcpu and had no problems. For this reason i belive that the previously stated problem is caused primarily by g3mod kernel in it's version 1.9 :-(
Makes me sad, i like g3mod, specially it's cwm, multiboot and oc capabilities.
V1.9 has some problems related to Multiboot
I cannot switch kernel from it :/
BatteryCalibration app by marosige version 1.2 does NOT work, always
Hello.
Thanks for this wonderfull piece of software.
After upgrading from 1.8 performance to 1.9 performance, the BatteryCalibration app by marosige version 1.2 does NOT work anymore on the first times I tried to calibrate: it showed an "unsupported" message. Now it is working again, I think...no messages of errors... will try a few more times and report.
Thanks.

Me to. Fugumod is very good. Only, I got used to g3mod. But it keeps crashing.
What rom are you using? (I have to ask )
Is it kyrillos? Do you use g3mod kernel 1.9? What edition? Did it crash/freeze? Did it work? How did you make it work?
