after flashing and doing leaked upgrade to 2.2, texting is sluggish - Droid Incredible General

one thing i never experienced when having this phone is sluggish texting. but now, when i text too fast it takes a few seconds for the screen to catch up to me. has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know if it's just part of the deal or if there is anything to be done? I don't have any customer kernels installed.
I am using Handcent SMS and the stock SMS application does not seem to have the same problem. Possible compatibility issue?

[CUPCAKE] Laggy Dialer and Other Issues

I installed ADP Cupcake around two weeks ago, and ever since that I've been noticing lag and unresponsiveness in the dialer. For example, if I'm at the Home screen and I type in "Travis" to call my friend Travis, it'll think I typed in "rvis" or something other than what I typed. This is very annoying and I'm wondering if there's any secondary app I could look to that is much faster and more responsive than the original dialer..?
Another problem I'm having is when I'm in Phone mode (calling someone), I'll often see a Force Close error. I think it mostly occurs when I press Hang Up. I don't know what the problem is exactly but is there any way to fix it?
I'm on JF ADP 1.51 with the Extra Volume hack and Apps on SD. Hopefully someone can tell me how to fix these problems :/

My phone is dropping SMSs... I get them, but they're not there.

I've owned my Rogers Dream (rooted, no custom ROM) for a couple of weeks now - this bug has been around since the start but it's getting worse these days and it's really starting to bother me.
Basically what happens is I'll get the notification for a text message. I can see the summary in the notification bar (with the new message), but when i open a messaging app (the default one or Chomp) the message won't be there. SMS Popup will also just display the previously most recent SMS in the conversation.
It seems like the system just isn't saving the message. Besides for the notification (which disappears after i clear), it's as if I never got the message. It kind of sucks...
My searching skills came up with nothing so i'm wondering - has this happened to anyone else - any idea what the reason could be - please let me fix this.
Thanks!
Well blyn100, interesting you should point this flaw out. I have a similar issue, but so far only 1 contact has given me this same summary with no msg. Trying to figure out the source of this problem, right now I have one suspicion. A few times, i think i received these msg's after being in a no service area. I am curious if this might be a possibility for you?
Also, I have similar phone setup as you, ie same stock Rogers ROM, obviously since no choice...yet.
i have the same issue
i had a thread started, but no response yet as to how to fix this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542178&highlight=SMS+issue
but now it seems like more and more ppl are having this issue (or it is more apparent)
its the same with Chomp, handcent, even the native app
Looks like this is mostly just a Rogers issue then?
Most of mine are occuring when I have pretty good reception, so I think i can confirm that that's not it.
Proccessor usage / avaiable RAM is what I'm leaning towards though. I might try uninstalling the virtual keyboard to free up some RAM and see if it helps anything.
Or just a bug in the stock ROM. Seems like for this to happen, the network is sending the message to the device and the device just forgets to save it, but confirms to the network that it got it. Still, i have a hard time believing a problem like this would suddenly appear for the Rogers build.
I had like 3 dropped ones last night, it's starting to get really annoying.
Are you sure it's not the timestamp bug? Look further up in your conversation to see if SMS' have been inserted there.

Yup, i checked all of the conversations, this isn't the case for any of them.
I had this issue on my T-Mobile G1 with the Rogers' ROMs. But I haven't had issues with Cyanogen builds...

HD2 is driving me NUTS, can you help?

So, long story short, I had a Nexus One, which I loved EXCEPT for the fact that my coverage was horrible, half my text messages didn't send, the battery life sucked, and the screen was getting burn in and had weird color saturation.
So I got an HD2.
And, coverage is great, in fact it's the only phone on any carrier that I have ever seen maintain a 3G signal in my dads house which is like in the forest lol. No dropped calls or unsent texts. Love the screen, love the music player, love Sense UI, etc. BUT...
No matter what I do, I seem to have the same problems...
1. Applications not opening. This happens most frequently with Opera. I've tried the stock ROM, the new 2.13 stock ROM, and ChuckyRom. And while for a day or two there are no problems, after a little bit I just randomly get error messages opening Opera (and some other programs) saying there isn't enough memory or a file is missing. Sometimes if I close everything in the task manager it will open but sometimes not. It always works again after a reset. It's REALLY frustrating. I don't really want to do crazy stuff with the phone, I just want everything to work. So any ideas how to fix this?
2. HTC Messaging. After a couple days, when I have a few contacts with 100+ messages, there is this AWFUL delay before I can type a response. Same as above, I tried a few different ROMs and after a couple days it's the same thing.
I know these seem like little things, but when I want to go to the browser and literally 2/3 of the times it just won't open without a reset, or when I go to reply to a message and it won't let me type for 30 seconds, it's just really annoying, all the time. So any ideas to fix this, whether it be different ROMs, or registry changes, or anything, please let me know.
Ugh I can't wait til someone ports Android or WP7 to this fantastic hardware lol.
i had the same problem that you were having until i used a custom rom. i figured everyone that was having lag is when using the htc messaging so i found a rom without it. its a pretty basic rom without the htc sense ui on there and that solved my problems. you should just try out different roms to see which one works best for you
Try using kumars latest ROM 2.0 with htc messaging disabled. No lag at all.

Unbearable lag in Nero4.1 with voice calls?

Anyone else? Im not exactly sure if its Phone.apk, DialerTabeActivity.apk, or simply the act of voice calls that is causing it. But it seems as though whenever i make a call, or have an incoming call, my phone almost cant handle it. It lags out like crazy.
This morning, my phone started ringing. There was so much lag that i couldnt answer the phone in time. Also, when i go to hang up a voice call, it often takes the "end call" button almost 10seconds to respond. Lastly, just earlier, i ended a call with my buddy. It LITERALLY took 3 minutes between the time i ended that call, and started a new one. Thats how bad the lag was.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any ideas how to fix it? Maybe its the modem?
This lag is literally intolerable, and a major inconvenience to efficiency.
PS - No, im not running a lagfix. I experimented with and without, and i determined that overall my phone performs better without it.
PPS - This is not me being oCD about my phone or a ROM. Im not being that "never satisfied" guy. Everything else with the ROM is great, its just this one thing.
Im using Eugene's B_Stock_1120_100 kernel, found here: http://eb-productions.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=samsungsgs&action=display&thread=28

I would try starting from stock and working back up to nero v4.1.
I appreciate eugenes work but thats where most of my problems come from. Using nero v3 and experimenting with eugenes kernals(I was bored) I had constant lag, random reboots, panic/safe mode, freezes, couldnt access external sd card etc... Try starting from stock. Are you using titanium backup with system info.

It sucks because this particular kernel of his offers almost everything i want in a 2.2 kernel (BLN, bootup/shutdown animations, lagfixes, OC/UV, and i also love the recovery menu).....although, with this ROM at least, the only lagfix that works is Voodoo, and the OC is only clocked at 1120ghz.
I was wondering if maybe this was causing it. And im mildly depressed to learn that it very well may be. I like TW's kernels, but they just seem to be battery destroyers.
So are you saying not to use this Eugene kernel at all? Should I try a TW one instead? Sorry but stock kernels suck and i want to avoid them if possible.
PS - I dont know what youre asking in terms of TiBu
I just tried it while on Wi-Fi, call came in, no lag answering it, I browsed engadget website, and no out of ordinary lag.
Flash back to stock and go back to the ROM, see if it resolves the issue.
EDIT: I am using Voodoo though
had same problem and i had just come from a fresh odin to stock. couldn't take it and went back to axura latest rom. plus vringo and video tonez don't work with roms with voice start and shutdowns.

Sometimes I can't answer a call

I have a Wildfire that is still stock standard. 2.1 update 1. I am still reading up on how to root and will be doing that sort of thing soon. However this phone has a annoying intermittent problem. Sometimes when I get an incoming call and to answer one would swipe your finger downwards, nothing happens. So I miss the call. But this happens only sometimes, but enough to be an annoyance.
Anyone have a similar issue?
yes, it happens to me too...
And it happened to we with various wildpuzzle roms.
Dont know what to do...
me too, pls help
I have the same problem to ...
me too. having the same problem
My friend on 2.1 has the same issue. Fine on my one running froyo (stock)
