Glitchy screen while charging - HTC Aria General

Every time i charge my aria, while its plugged in to an AC charger, the screen seems buggy to me, the only way i can get it to work is if i put a finger on the metal part on top while im navigating, and even then it can do some funky stuff.
its like super sensitive or something.
and when i have it plugged into the computer, its even worse, completely unusable.
this happens all the time, no matter what rom i have on the phone.
its a pain, anyone else experiencing this?

never had anything like that happen.

I had this problem using an lg wall charger but not with the provided wall/usb chargers or a motorola car charger
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App

strange, its happening on the oem chargers

This is happening to me too. Super sensitive keys, impossible to scroll. Happening to me on CM6, can't remember if it was same on Sense/Liberated

Same problem here with stock ROM, although only certain aftermarket chargers. The one that came in the box (as well as using USB from the PC) are fine. But they also charge much slower. I think the other chargers have a higher voltage (like 5v USB as compared to 3.3v). It's annoying for sure, but not a deal-breaker for me.
Oink!

It only happens to me when I use the aftermarket wall charger. I'm on liberated b003 rom.
Paranoid Brandroid

hmmm, maybe ill go buy another oem charger, see if its a problem with the charger

happens to me on a wall charger/car charger set i bought on ebay or amazon...cant remember
oem charger is fine and so is any other cable plugged in to the pc to charge.
it's just that one damn wall charger that doesnt charge very fast anyway. just got it as a backup for at work.

I actually had this problem with my iphone 3gs and some charger i bought off of ebay. When the phone was plugged into it, the capacitive panel was all wonky and i couldn't use the phone. I guess it was a poorly designed charger.

Happens to me too across all ROMs using the oem charger. I don't have an after market to test with.

same is happening to me with a 3rd party microusb charger on my desire, if i try to pinch to zoom, while charging, the screen goes crazy

Phone issues when charging with charger bought off ebay

I bought a charger from eforcity (respectable seller) for my HTC Hero. It works fine simply as a charger, but if I try to use the phone while it's charging it acts very odd, with home screens not moving properly, applications responding slowly or incorrectly, keypresses taking a while to register but in a different order than entered, etc., etc. I can only guess the charger is either giving too much juice or something and it's messing the phone up. When I unplug the phone, it almost instantly starts working normally, although on one or two occasions I had to reboot for it to work.
Also, I'm using Fresh 1.1 with the Gumbo kernel, not sure if this has anything to do with it.
I had a similar issue with a cheapo charger causing touchscreen problems on a G1. I'm guessing there's a bit of a high voltage leak, or a high frequency AC current coming through. That could change the voltage in the touchscreen grid, throwing off how it detects presses. I'd stop using that charger, it could fry sensitive components in your phone, or even give you a nasty shock.
stock hero charger is as follows:
input: 100-240v~0.2A 50-60Hz
output:5V ~.~ 1A
efficiency level IV
if yours is different than this, discontinue use
new
just go to sprint and they will give you a new charger
what if you have a generic walmart brand car usb adapter but still use the htc cord...any problems with that ???
i used to have a prolem with an old moto razr charger on my hero, it would also slow down my phone. turns out the charger would show up as usb and not charger and that it wouldn't let my phone work correctly, i change to a blackberry charger and now no issues, also my good ole usb works fine, moto charger was just a little weird.
i think if the walmart car chager uses standard volts and ma then it should be fine
yea iits just a cigarette lighter adapter..i figured it would be cheaper than buying a whole new car charger....BTW i have like a million BB chargers...they work decent with android even though the shape is a little different...ive never tried just cause when i got my hero the dude was swearing up and down that they were different

[Q] Swype-ing while charging...does not process right...

I've looked everywhere. i promise i tried to search it first before asking here.
----
Every time my phone is plugged in, wall or computer...swype doesn't seem to process finger swyping correctly.
anyone know why this happens and how to possibly fix this?
Are you using a third party charger? If it's not sending out the right amount of electricity it could be interfering with the touch screen (which is conductive).
I've noticed this behavior sporadically as well, with both OEM and third party charging solutions, but never when charging via USB plugged into a computer, only from the wall.
I can only speculate, but perhaps I've got relatively "dirty" (unsteady) power in my apartment wall outlets, and it's resulting in voltages outside this device's tolerances.
I've noted only the touchscreen appears to become unresponsive, this doesn't seem to have any effect on the ability for the battery to charge up.
I have this issue too when charging off my inverter in my truck. I had this on my mytouch as well. I just figured it was from the unstable line voltage. I haven't noticed any other affects from it other than that.
Agree with the others. Bad charger.
I've been experiencing this issue with many different chargers.
I've tried wall and car chargers with dedicated cables and also the car and wall chargers which give you a usb port to plug into, with 2 different data cables.
Even though the issue occurs with different chargers, it bothers me the most when it's plugged into my computer. Having it plugged into my laptop is a lot more convenient for me charging-wise.
I have no problem with any other application. I play Angry birds and homerun battle 3d with zero issues in touch screen response.
master reset of the phone doesn't help. I honestly think it's possibly an issue with swype.
I notice I need to press the screen harder when plugged into the wall for swype to input correctly. The problem is the screen not swype. You just don't notice it with other apps because of the need for less precision.

It's not that. You know when your texting, the swype "trail" is smooth, when it's plugged in, the lines get jagged and the phone picks that up instead of my original input and trys to guess the word off of the jagged line.
This happens to my phone and I always assumed it was heat related. This does not happen to me with the original samsung charger but on my cheap ebay wall and vehicle charger it does. Samsung charger is .7 amps and the others are 1 amp.

[Q] 5V USB charger controlling my WP7. Is this normal?

I just received my stash of charging gear for my Optimus 7 today, bought from DX. Having read everywhere that USB chargers are 5V +/- 10%, and seeing that the original LG charger outputs 4.8V, I thought my purchase was ok and that this charger would work.
Turns out it doesn't. When I connect the phone to the charger via USB, I lose control of the touchscreen and the system gains a mind of its own. I literally just hold my phone in my hand and stare while it randomly enters hubs and either opens an email message or dials someone. The physical buttons still respond correctly, and it's not until I disconnect the charger from the wall socket or the phone from the USB cable that I can regain control of the phone. My guess is it's a hardware fault and not software.
Granted this unofficial charger cost me around $1, but I got some similar 5V car chargers to go with it, and I've never had problems with other USB chargers.
Unofficial charger specs:
Input: 100-240V 0.15A (0.15A) 50-60hz
Output: 5V 1A
Does someone else have this issue? Is the Optimus 7 an uncommon device for requiring 4.8V input instead of 5V?
Your problem is NOT the charger, as that has nothing to do with the functions of the phone.
Your problem is that your LG Optimus 7 E900 is a DEMO unit, with a DEMO ROM. And until you flash a stock ROM onto your phone, you will experience the demo played out while connected to a power source.
You sure? Because I tried it with the 5V 1A car adapters and no problem, and the original 4.8V 1A charger gives me no problems either.
How do I check my ROM version? Firmware is 1.0.7.10, OS is 7.0.7008.0 after the February update.
Can you get us video on this?
Please excuse the ****ty video quality
That is most fascinating. I recommend you stop using that charger on your phone
So, obviously, you do NOT have the demo ROM as I suspected initially.
Since you say it works with another 5V 1A charger, then I think this specific charger may be sending unexpected, random data signals down the USB cable, resulting in the unresponsive and bizarre behaviour. Since the original charger works well, and charges pretty fast, just stick with that for now.
At least you got the update, here in Canada, we are still waiting for our first update.
And your English is so good, and without any accents...Are you sure you aren't from our here (North America)?
This is true magic Really I have no eplanation on this problem. It is only 0,2V
Yeah, and there I was thinking that the whole point of USB charging is that it's universal and totally compatible, no matter what adapter you buy and what cable you use, provided it connects well.
It seems this is not the case, and I'm weary of trying another third party USB charger, as I still cannot tell if this phenomenon is unique to the Optimus 7 or not. Sadly, the only other MicroUSB phones I have lying around don't actually support charging via this port, just data transfer.
i also admit that im "dazzled" by ur -smart-phone...
probably that adapter is"magical" somehow... did u try it on another phone??
+i also use different chargers but never had any abnormalities so far..
Though i use the original chargers that came with my blackberry 9700 and htc-desire, and just checked the blackberry output is 5v!! i cant read the htc...
So, probably that adapter of yours is a "mutant from another place"...
confirm, htc is also 5v...
ps2- i'm also on 7008, and havent got any issues with charging on both 7004 and 7008
The problem is in the charger, it's too chinese . I had this issue with other touchscreen phones, like SE X8, X10... Just change the charger, obviously it has some hum/noise...
lol...
too chinese? lol
im having the same issue when i use the lg power adapter.. it doesnt always happen but when it happen the touch screen just when berserk.
i always thought that it happens on all units. uh oh
To be honest, I thought you were crazy till I bought a Chinese adapter as well. Don't know the voltage, but I'll check it tomorrow. I think it might have to do with the way the unit is shielded, or not. The only time I wiggs out is when I leave it on the desk, but as soon as I pick it up and pull it a few inches away form the desk or any other object it works fine. But as soon as I put it back down, the screen does the same thing.
I have a usb plug that I plug into the computer that didn't do that at the same desk, I'm going to bring in my other charger and see if it rule out the outlet / interference or just the cheap a$$ adapter....
The only part that worries me, and the only reason I might stop using it, is it takes a bit from the time I unplug it to the time the phone realizes it's unplugged and the charging icon stops. Which doesn't happen with any other charger.
I had this problem too.. until I realized it affected my other touch screen devices too (Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab)... Turns out the 5V charger was the problem. Replaced it with a 5V charger of Philips/Belkin/Samsung/LG and all worked..
The unbranded 5V chargers don't work well with capacitive screens as they seem to be letting off some extra current.

slow / laggy when charging S2

have anyone got issues with S2 when plugged into power?
ie when I start recharging direct from 240V adapter, my S2 started getting VERY laggy and slow.
It immediately goes back to normal response when I unplug power.
I have never problem like you

Try using an alternative charger...probably your mains charger or the usb connector on the charger is damaged.
I'm pretty sure its a issue with the s/w as I have used the charger on another phone without any issue.
unless its one of the apps I'm using, not sure how to narrow it down.
mtrax...
I have the same issue.
You´re not alone...LOL
FYI the common issue I have when plugged in is that its not easy to unlock screen, takes me a 2-3 swipes to unlock screen and after that it seems that it ignores every other key press..
Any one reported this to Samsung? I will try to log a ticket to see what happens.
Try do a multi touch test while its plugged in see if the screens acting funny.
how do I do a multi-touch test?
what will that prove? as the screen works fine when unplugged.
I have the same issue but only when charging with the usb lead (with usb power adapter) instead of the standard mains charger. Think it might have stopped now that debugging is enabled and the Samsung kies screen doesn't come up when i connect the usb.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Took my phone 2 hours to charge from 36 % to 100 %
note this issue doesn't occur when charging via PC ONLY via 240V mains, but let me try with USB debugging on.
edit tried USB debbuging still has issue.
Note is the 240V USB cable different from a normal USB cable? ie perhaps the device thinks its a PC connection
the phone is laggy because of the electrical interference from a faulty charger or some other electrical equipment in the near vicinity...
Please note that actually the capacitive touchscreen becomes laggy not the applications/services...
keep it away from the electrical interference...use the samsung original charger..gud quality USB cable....and the issue will be gone... for sure
looks like its the charger, the A/C adapter I got with the phone was UK which is why I didn't use it to begin with, but tried the samsung one with a UK/AU adapter and its fine..
hmm who would have thought that was the issue...
interesting it didn't affect my other HTC phone.
Same issue here, but something special:
I ebayed another charger for my sgs2, original samsung one. Same serial number, same description, same style.. but i got the charging problem only with the new one.
With my original charger (the one, which was delivered with the phone) works fine. No slow and no lag.
The new one was about 5 euro, seems to be an original...
to demonstrate my point that its the electrical interference from the dodgy chargers onto the capacitive touchscreen... do this and report back...
plug the faulty charger onto the socket BUT DO NOT charge the phone with it...
keep the phone near to the charger wires etc....(not in charge)... you will see the screen lagging sometimes unresponsive...
now move the phone away ...it will work fine..
you can keep on using the dodgy chargers for charging...but use the phone only after it has been charged and is away from the charger...

I am not able to reproduce that with my original charger. There is no lag or any other problem. Switching to my second "original" (ebay 5 €uro) samsung charger leads me direct to the lag and your description. First i thought my second one is not an original one, but because of your description there seems to be a diffrent quality on the original charger depending on it production date.. unit.. charge.. or whatever.
I bought a sgs2 from the UK, and have a UK to AUS converter on the stock charger and I have no lag when it's charging or near chargers.
Sorry. Not a problem here. Writing now and plugged. Very responsive.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
The electrical interference with the capacitive display is bullcrap since it needs electrical properties to respond. So it depends on whether your body has enough electrical properties.
So back to the point:
It is due to CPU reducing the clock speeds to prevent the phone from overheating as the battery itself produces enough heat anyway.
Many other people may not notice it since they may not perform intensive tasks while the phone is plugged in and the variation itself is also almost unnoticeable.
I have the same issue but as I said, it's almost unnoticeable to even bring it up in this forum. I haven't done any testing myself to prove this, but the same safety feature is implemented in most modern phones.
I have the same issue - I also had this issue with my Atrix.

Slow charge with original charger

Hello,
i'm new here and i'd be glad if someone can help me. So i got my phone a month ago and i noticed that while its charging (with the original charger) and while using it in the same time it almost does not charge at all, still when it's not used it does actually fast charge. As a previous samsung user, i never had this issue with samsung phones (they always fast charged even on heavy use).
That's one problem, the second one is scrolling isn't smooth. Yet my internet speed is 1GB at home although i don't see it related, overall scrolling let's say for example Facebook, snapchat, browser, it gets slow at few times and it ain't smooth like i expected it to be.
My device isn't even rooted so i haven't messed with it anyhow, running usual diagnostics and clearing apps regularly, downloaded just few social media apps so no heavy games on the phone but still i can't figure out if it's just my phone or is it the lg g6 like that.
thank you
1st i wanted to mention maybe the problem is your outlet in house but, yes G6 is charging slower when you use it on your charger.. And when it comes to fast charging to mine it tooks 1h and 40min from 0-100% bit slower than competiton models, but again fast enough.
When it comes on smoothness i am on V10T EU update and the phone has no laggs at all. It did had on past versions. But with this V10T i hadn't had any smoothness issue.. It really is great, and for playing with the phone while charging i wouldn't recommend that. It can really take effect on your battery.
Powered by LG G6
The scrolling lag sounds like there might be something making the phone work hard. Heavy usage would also make it charge more slowly than expected, because some of that power is going to operate the phone rather than into the battery. BUT I don't think it would prevent the "fast charging" text on the display.
It is remarkable how badly-behaved apps can be - I'd remove/disable your apps one at a time and see if one of them is responsible.
Try a fully compliant aftermarket quick charge 3.0 charger, it should charge much faster. Unlike a QC 3.0 charger, the charger bundled with the phone does not include 12V charging mode, so it's not allowing the phone to charge as fast as the phone can handle (the phone is fully quick charge 3.0 compliant and can charge faster than the bundled charger is capable of doing).

Yup, that's true. BUT I have s7 and g6 and both are slowly charging when I'm using them, phone would get too hot if it would fast charge while using it
I appreciate all your replies guys. Thank you.
Although i noted i dont have any heavy apps or heavy usage, the scrolling lag seems like a lag to me because i got used to faster phones before. Or maybe it is the original cable i need to change as you guys said. Anyway thanks again
I also encountered slow charging problems, but it seemed to be the cable, in some position it worked and in some it did not. I've bought an one plus dash cable for about 10 $, red one, and no problems since then. The cable is more thicker and robust, I highly recommend it.
Hi, I've got this problem: sometimes when I plug my G6 to the charger, a popup message comes out saying:
Charging slowly
Try the following if charging is slow:
- make sure to completely remove any water or debris from the USB ports.
- reconnect both ends of the cable.
- use the charger and cable that came with the phone.
Sometimes, instead, the phone starts charging normally with fast charging. If that popup comes out and I try to unplug and plug USB cable a couple of times, the phone starts charging again with fast charge.
Sometimes, when the phone is already charging with fast charge, suddenly the phone stops charging for a couple of seconds and starts again (I notice it because of the popup sound that comes if you plug the phone to USB)
I even tried to clean USB port, swapped the original USB cable with Anker cable but still using the original LG charger.
Of course there is no water in the port, otherwise a moist detector message would appear.
Has anyone experienced this problem? Can I solve buying a new charger? I'm afraid USB port might be broken

Yeah i found that funny that LG lied and tried to get by on using the chargers from the failed lg G5 shipped with the G6. They only support 2.0 charging so just use the cord and use another 3.0 block or get a portable 3.0 power pack. They are 20 bucks on amazon. Good ones too.

can this be a good charger?
I bought an used G6 without charger but I have a Pixel charger model GL0102 and when I plug the phone I cant see the fast charging notification on the screen. It only say charging.
