Hey
I noticed that Google released a new app : Voice Search for Android 2.2.
Well, I have 2.2 installed on my G1 and the install fails....- has someone else try it on the G1 and got it to work?
Do we have a hardware limitation or is it something in the CM6.RCx base ROMS that is not compatible with this.
Any ideas?
Thanks Devs!
i have the same problem. it says its install was unsuccessful but its installed, i dont get it. i hope theres and answer.
Yep, it works quite well. You just have to remove the old Voice Search apk files. There's a thread about it in the G1 Development section with instructions. Check it out, and enjoy voice searching.

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if there is anywqhere I can download voice command to my phone. When I was running the stock rom it had it but I am now running opentouch biggie that does not have vc by default. I have searched here and internet and have yet to find any where that I can download one that would work. Does anyone know how to fix this or where I can download it. I really do like the rom but if there is one that has the hibernate feature like open bigge or something comparable to free up memory I would be open to changing roms. Thank you for your help.

Hello everybody!
First I would like to thank the developpers for the great work they have accomplished!
Yesterday I switched from Froyo to Gingerbread and despite Froyo's rom was already great Gingerbread is even better!
However one small issue I encountered is that the vocal search function does not work. I tried to install the phone apk in the topic (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=927379) but it did not do much...
If somebody has an answer I would be thankful!
If it is not fixable yet it's ok, it is a cool feature but the Gingerbread rom has a lot of other perks!
Thanks and have a great day!
In 2.2 i have the same problem with goggles. Delete the app from your device (system/app/....(the app)) and reboot your phone. After that, install it again from the market. It should work now
PS: you need root access and root explorer

Thanks a lot Jasper!! You're the dude!!
I've been in the system and I clicked on the apk and instead of deleting it it I reinstalled it and now it seems to work fine!
Just to let people with the same problem know, I ended up erasing the original program and reinstalling it from the market as when I just reinstalled it over with the reboot I had the same problem.
I hope it helps!
I installed the Kyrillos' ROM v3.3 and can't seem to install the Google Voice search anymore. I had this on my previous builds since I upgrade to Froyo.
Anyone know why this is now gone?
I can't install it neither via the Market, phones is stated not compatible.

I can find the google search app on the market, but when I select it to install, my phone in the drop down menu is greyed out = stating it's not compatible...
When I tried to active the google search via my phone, it indeed wanted to bring me to the Market store, but it said that the application was not longer available...
So I did what Kyrillos suggested and download the JPM Stock Deodexed Apps and installed it that way. Got now also YouTube app back, had the same problems with it.
Via the appbrain application I noticed there is an update for Google voice search, but for some reason it doesn't want to install or upgrade it ( no errors given, it just does it thing but nothing changed).
I do not know whats the prob nw...but i guess flash to some other ROM...like Indroid 3.0
till the ARMKV devs bring up a ROM...
Tried Indroid, didn't like it Way to heavy. Kyrillos v3.3 is the fastest and best one I have had so far
Hi everyone
I am using blazan 2.2.2 of tiad8s. Everything is ok with the build. It is very stable. But i have a problem with skype. I couldn't find it on market so installed using an apk file. After i enter my user name&pass it says "signing in" for a while and wants me to enter my user id&pass again without any warning like "connection error, password error etc."
What can the problem be? Any ideas?
It seems to be something about the kernel.
It is working on the FRX6

First, if you're having a problem that occurs when using a certain build, you should probably post about your problem in the thread or on the site where you got that build.
But as far as Skype goes, and because you said you used an older apk file, there were a lot of problems with skype for android which they just fixed, like a week ago, so yeah, your older apk won't work.

I haven't tried skype on another android build on my phone so don't know yet if it works with any other android build or not. Maybe any other builds are having the same problem, this is the first reason why i started a new thread. As i said in my first post, i use tiad8's blazn 2.2 build which is really the fastest and the most useful one with every function working. I also asked about the same problem on tiad's website. But xda is more helpful about such problems so i am also seeking for answer to my problem here This is the second
I tried lots of skype builds, most of which still work on my brother's zte android phone. they are old versions or not, but they still work! But on my blackstone they don't. Only skype lite could sign in on my phone but as you know it is so unfunctioned
I would like to say Thanks to the Dev. Kenn for putting the Alien Rom together, most of the applications are working great, although; the Swype is not quite works well. I cannot delete the Swype app. neither because it read only.
In order to install the Swype beta, I need to disable the Swype that come in with the Alien Rom package.
Is anyone who knows how to go around that?
Please search....

You need an app like root explorer which will give you the permissions you need to delete it. Once you delete the swype.apk from system/app you can install the beta.

If you have a question related to something not working with a particular ROM, the question should be asked through the thread for the ROM. This way you are more likely to get support from the ROM's developer, or other people who have encountered the same issue with that ROM.
or just use the search...

totally agree, but then you'll have people jumping on you about asking noob questions and making the thread unnecessarily long. lose/lose situation.
1-Install titanium backup pro
2-Uninstall Swype using the software from point 1
3-Register for swype beta and install it.
4-?????
5-PROFIT!!!
