oh my f*@king god!!!
just installed wm6.5 for the first time. trying to copy numerous files, from either memory stick or internal, - where before i'd drag the stylus to highlight more than one file, then cut/copy whatever - i'm unable to select more than one file to move because of the bloody finger scroll thing.
can't find settings anywhere, still there with total commander, when synced to pc to just do it that way, says i've not the permissions.
HOW TO DISABLE, OR WHAT HAVE I MISSED - PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!! i've got lots of small files to move
You can select multiple files via file explorer of PC to your phone.....works for me in WM 6.5
Check if you have this registry setting in your phone....
HKCU\ControlPanel\Gestures\Touch. Change value of “Disabled” to 1 to activate multi selection.

hi all,
is it possible to block the explorer for users of my kaiser?
Best would be if the whole explorer was invisible to the user on my kaiser...
Or will the OS be damaged in any way?
Well, the simplest way to do it would be to delete it's shortcut from the start menu (/windows/menu start/...), or better - to cut the shortcut and paste it somewhere else (like the root folder or /My documents") just in case you need it back - it won't be a problem, since to launch a file explorer placed elsewhere than start menu, you'll need a file explorer - like a locked box with a key inside it
Of course it won't damage the OS in any way, and in case you need the shortcut back, you can move it over to menu start with activesync, or by launching the explorer the alternate way (described bellow).
Even if you don't have any file explorers in the start menu (like totalCommander), there'll still be an option to launch one in case you really need it - while holding the action button on your device tap the clock in the taskbar, select "run" from the popup menu, type "fexplore" and click "ok".
Not many people know of the second way, so if you just want too keep people (especially ones not too experienced with WM phones) away from your files, it shouldn't be a security problem and moving the shortcut should be enough. Just make sure that you don't leave shortcuts to alternate file explorers - like Total commander, resco explorer, etc. in the start menu.

Hi
Can anyone please tell me how to select more than one file in file explorer?
If there is no scroll down on the screen, it is so easy just to touch and slide finger over files...
But when there are more files in the folder and it's not possible to show all of them on screen, sliding only scrolls down and doesnt select files...
I could fix that probles with editing files with computer, but that means I need to connect the device and pc everytime I would like to move photos from dcim folder to photos folder, for example...or I can just move one by one what is annoying and takes time...
Thanks
The default file explorer sucks, i think most people either use Resco Explorer 2010, or Total Commander which both allow a selection of multiple files.
I agree the best solution is to use a different file manager , just thought id mention if you use the swype keyboard in standard file manager you can tap sym three times to get to the arrows screen , click select text which should remain pressed and then the arrows will let you select multiple files.

I was thinking the same thing after a few days of purchase. As you mentioned, with a few files its easy but once its more than a screen can view, it loves to scroll and nothing else. In addition you cant copy / move files from the Windows folder as well, there are many reasons to not bother with the standard File explorer, i just use Resco File Exp as a few others have mentioned.
Atleast now i can select edit/invert selection etc to highlight certain files.
The only way to do this with File Explorer is to use a SIP with proper selection tools. The original WinMo keyboard had a Ctrl key but thats gone now.
I use TouchPal which has a 'Select' button in the toolbox, after which the direction arrows perform the multiple selections.
1. Enable Hidden Default Games
Go to the Windows directory and copy bubblebreaker.exe and solitaire.exe to the games folder as shortcuts in Windows\Start Menu. Make sure to unhide system files on the device to see the games listed.
How on earth do i do that? I went to FILE EXPLORER - WINDOWS but i am lost from there. Please help.
click menu -- show all files.find bubblebreaker.exe, press and hold, choose copy, then scroll up to the folder start menu, games, click menu - edit - paste.
It doesn't let you just paste though (at least mine doesn't).
You have to paste shortcut.

as shortcuts in Windows\Start Menu. Make sure to unhide system files on the device to see the games listed
How I do that?
Please help me on this.
just paste the shortcut
just looked at this - open File Explorer and navigate to windows find the bubblebreaker.exe file and press/hold - at the bottom of the box that pops up is 'Send Shortcut to Programs' select this and you should now find a shortcut in the program list you get when selecting the icon in the top left corner of your home screen

The easiest way to do this is to use Resco explorer as it gives you the option to send a shortcut to the programs folder.
However as you have to pay for it I can understand why you might not want to so I had a look at trying it with the windows file explorer and here is how I did it.
Ok so in to the huge windows file and scrolled on down to BubbleBreaker and I've got 4 files with that name but only 2 have the BubbleBreaker icon. The first one is 46.0K in size and thats the .exe file we're after. The other one is just an .lnk shortcut file.
So long press on the .exe file brings up the edit menu. Select copy.
Now go up in the windows folder and in to the Folder named Start Menu, then in to Programs and finally in to Games.
Now if you give a long press on a clear bit of the screen avoiding other files you should have a menu come up giving you the option to Paste Shortcut.
Hit the button and all should be well.
Worked ok on my HD2, I'm running the standard WWE 1.66 Rom
P.S Don't forget to chose the option to show all files in explorer. Just click Menu then put a tick in the Show all files box.

cheers bud, its sorted. i was copy an paste'in the smaller of the files....doh
So i just got an HD2 not long ago, and i realized a problem about the file manager is that i can't highlight files when the total files in the directory is more than the screen could handle i.e needs to scroll down to see the rest of them. It would just scroll down/up if i hold my thumb and drag it. But it does seem to work when the total files in the directory can fit into a screen i.e doesn't need scrolling. Anybody know how to fix this?
menu - select files - several.
Not ideal, but thats how it works.
I use resco, which has the ability where you drag finger down the icons instead of the filenames and it multi-selects, and even scrolls when you get to the bottom of the screen.
Hello everybody and congrats for the good work!
On page 276 of the user manual, concerning the file explorer it is being said: "To copy or delete multiple files, tap and drag over the desired files, press and hold the selection, and then choose an option from the menu."
Well, this is possible only if the list of the files doesn't exceed the vertical size of the phone's screen.
Once it does, meaning there are a lot of files in the folder, tapping and dragging leads to scrolling down/up the list!
Do you know how to fix this?
Thnx in advance!
assuming you mean the built in file manager.
menu - select files- several
better still, try resco . with resco you drag your finger down the icons to multi select, and it auto scrolls as you drag.
Well I am afraid that this option is not available. I mean, when I hit Menu, there is no option Select Files-Several.
My Menu is in Greek, and the only similar option is: Menu-Edit-Select All, but all is not what I want, obviously.
Resco explorer seems very good, indeed. But I am tired of paying so much money to purchase apps for my mobile phone.
And I think it is not descent at all, for such a devise, not to support, such a simple idea.
