Please, somebody tell me there's hope. 2 really annoying & disappointing things are happening. My bluetooth keeps randomly disconnecting, and to make matters worse the status bar icon still shows it is connected, but it's not. Second, I am dropping calls almost daily, and I'm mostly in places where 2 seconds before the drop I had 4 bars!!! I went to a store today & got a replacement SIM (50.01 vs. 39.01 markings) hoping that might solve it, not happening. And the signal strength almost never shows less than -105 dBm, sometimes -97. I NEVER had a dropped call or any bluetotth issues with either my old trusty G1 or the MT3G I just came from. I'm really trying to love the phone, it has so many positives. But the fact that it's a "phone" and it's basic function is skewered is pissing me off big time. Please, someone tell me I ain't the only one experiencing these issues, and, that either the OTA FroYo or Cyan's first ROM is gonna fix 'em? Better yet, any known fixes now? Are these issues in any way related to the data issues, possibly? When I called Tech Support last night they said to try a hard reset, but I really don't want to do so, unless I can flash one of the stock/de-TW'ed "stock" ROM's written about in the Dev. threads. Anyone have any concrete suggestions or explanations? Thanks...

Just a quick question for you guys. When I receive a phone call (full signal strength) and slide the slider accross to answer the phone there is a long pause of silence before the call actually connects. Has anyone else run into this situation?
Nexus One running stock Froyo (At&t)
yes I have this issue: I answer and cannot get an answer on the other end but I can hear them saying "hello". After a few seconds we connect and they say they never heard me say anything even though I was saying hello back.
I have two Nexus Ones: one answers calls perfectly and has great sound quality, while the other has this issue you describe, along with low call volume.
I think in my case it may be a hardware issue and I may need to send it in to be looked at. Both running on ATT although the good device is the tmobile version and the problem device is ATT 3G version.

You think it is a hardware issue? I thought that it was like that across all N1s?
There was a thread here 1-2 weeks ago about the issue and pretty much EVERYBODY had this problem.
I can't find the thread anymore but it was about the delay between answering a call and the mic becoming active ... which takes 2-5 seconds.
I just noticed the other day that the delay seems to be less if I immediately put the call on speaker.
Never encountered that issue. The other side hears me immediately as I answer. I guess this is not "across all N1s", unless someone would think my N1 is special in some way (which it isn't, and so are all the other 7 N1s of my friends at work which also happen not to have this problem - and the call quality is great on at least 3 that I checked personally).
Instantly connects on my phone as well, so it's not on all devices at least. I have one of the first batches of T-Mobile N1's btw.
What carrier are you on?
this happens to me too.its so annoying. im on att
Can't find the thread but it was pretty long.

I'm not so sure anymore. I decided since my only choice was to send it in for repair, I might as well one click root and install CM6 and see what happens. So far, I have not had the issue. It's only been three days but that's the longest this device has ever gone without having the "no connect" issue. Also, my low call volume and speaker phone volume issues are now resolved. I now find myself turning the volume down rather than up. I'll update this thread with final verdict on whether this fixes my issue.
This sounds like an att problem not a nrsux one problem
I notice this problem as well. If I wait until the call timer appears on screen before I start to talk the other party doesn't seem to notice.
I'm on T MO and never had this issue. Try the one click root and flash a different ROM. If it doesn't work send it to HTC. I recently sent mine back on a Monday and it was back that Friday.

Well my issue has been resolved by switching to CM6. It's been a week now and the issue has not occurred even one time. This was an issue that used to happen to me EVERY DAY, so I am very happy that in my case it turned out to be a software issue.
When I was running 2.1 I hoped 2.2 would fix it and when it didn't I thought for sure it must be hardware. It's so nice to KNOW I can answer the phone if it rings now. Sometimes I would get an important call and I was afraid to answer the damn phone!
Thank you Mr. Cyanogen, whoever you are.
I get this issue once in a while. I think its a software issue. Over time something gets hung up somewhere.
I had a thread like this as well..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691399
For me it still happens randomly, stock 2.1 rom, stock 2.2 rom, Enom's ROM, etc...
Although I have a theory that I haven't tried to prove/disprove yet.. It seems like several times when this has happened I was holding my finger over the second mic on the back, which is naturually where my finger seems to lay when I hold the phone. Anyone else considered this? I'm thinking maybe it's throwing off the microphone trying to do noise cancellation?

Definitely not the finger covering the mic. Just tried it with/without and same result.
There was another thread that was at least 3-4 pages of people complaining about it.
Sounds more like a network issue than a hardware issue, IMO
This issue has come up recently for me and it's really annoying. I'm not sure what triggered this problem...
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Any ideas on how to resolve?
I've got the Rogers/AT&T N1.
My G2 may be defective or is it this buggy?
I've actually had the phone reboot on me twice. It looked like a kernel panic like i'm used to on my nexus one with cyanogenmod nightly builds. not only that but i don't see any internet speed improvements in my area over the nexus one despite my area being HSPA+ deployed. I get about the same 800kbps-1.5mbps on both phones. Others in HSPA areas report >3Mbit.
I will also have some considerable lag issues and just plain hangups with switching applications that i never experienced on my nexus. Also I only get about 1.2ish gb of internal storage while othere report >2gb.
On the upside my hinge seems fairly solid and battery life is good. but those glaring issues have me wanting to return (get $ back) and go back to my nexus.
Did I get a lemon? Are others experiencing this as well?
Uhm... this forum is full of these complaints, how could you miss them all?

Experiencing the same issues. Phone just turns itself off. Poor to no reception in areas where my Vibrant and Nexus One get2-3 bars of 3g. Like the phone but it does have issues which some people are reluctant to see. Weird things happen when I deploy the keyboard. Return button does not work at times etc.
From one entire day with the phone I thought reception was weak as well. BUT I asked my wife if her TMO BBerry 9700 had dead spots in the same areas and sure enough she said yes.
I'll be double checking that tonight.... I'll be much happier if it's the network and not the phone.
A lot of users seem to be having these so don't worry you aren't alone.
I get absolutely NO reception in my room (basement lol), coincidently I also use my phone as an alarm and couldn't figure out why it always stuck itself in a boot loop more at night than during the day (which it did...up to five times).
ANYWAY, personally I cut on airplane mode at night and have no problems with the phone crashing and boot looping (G2 splash screen). Ive also installed Rom Manager and run "fix permissions" which has basically stopped the random fc's and crashes during the day. I cant remember if the fix permissions is root dependent as ive always had root when running it but it worked very well for me. Before permission fix my phone was fast but seemed to jerk and twitch going through screens, now it doesn't.
I haven't experienced the freaky ghost track pad issue and the non responding touch screen which caused me to have to lock and unlock the screen.
These might help until either someone can achieve permaroot or tee-mobe sends an ota.
I've had the same reception issues. Tech support told me to do a factory reset, but I don't see how that would help since I just got my second phone two days ago (first one bricked after a kernel panic). It has had these problems out of the box.

Hey guys, I'm on my second fascinate...returned the first one because I couldn't stay connected to 3g for any length of time. For example, trying to stream pandora or youtube would always drop out / buffer and not reconnect. After getting my second phone I am still having this problem. When I finally do get connected it's terribly slow and soon drops out. Thought it may have just been reception first but my original droid worked prefect in the same areas (i live maybe 50ft from the verizon tower lol) and have the same problems in other cities too.
I've learnt to live with the audio playback pops and gps in hopes that they get fixed in an ota, but haven't really heard much about a fix for this. Really hope someone can help, love the phone aside from this problem, but it kind of makes paying $30 extra for a smart phone feel well, dumb
Oh, Im stock too besides the d01 update and have tried both *228 and *22899 also
*22899?

Give Verizon a call, there are some internal settings on the phone that they can adjust that might help. They did that for me it involved going into the dialer and putting in some number i forgot what it was, but i then had to enable something, and we went through the screens. They had me change one setting that gave me a more consistent signal.
It was something with 9s in it haha. And I called verizon, ended up changing some of my cdma settings through the dialer... Really wish I had wrote down all the steps because it took me deep into menus that aren't changeable without the codes.... Either way, it's somewhat better but I wouldn't say that completely fixed my problem.
3g still drops out much to frequently. when I get service, it seems quicker but youtube or downloading a large file are still impossible....
No one else is having this problem or found a fix? I'm at wits end, feel like spiking my phone onto the pavement at times lol
I just yesterday got a replacement Fascinate, with that issue being one of my reasons for exchanging it. So far, I don't seem to be seeing any such issues, but time will tell. If the issue comes back, I might try falling tech support for those dialer codes mentioned here.

Up until yesterday ive always drawn 3-4 bars at the least inside of my house. All of a sudden out of nowhere I cant get any bars. Its like theyll pop on and then just disappear really quick. Its made my data painfully slow and I cant figure out what the issue is. I've reflashed the radio and that didnt help. Made sure the network was set to CDMA... that didnt help. Im a little clueless here. And periodically itll pull up two or three bars and then almost instantly the service will die out altogether and an X will pop up where the bars normally are....then the process starts all over. WTF? Is this a network issue or is it my phone? I hadnt made any changes before I started experiencing the problems.
Odd thing is im at work right now and im getting stable bars just fine.
So 66 views and no comments... i guess im the only one to ever have this issue then.
Sprint has been having network issues for a few weeks now in different markets and I'm sure you're being affected by it. Just give it a little bit and if it is still there in a week or two contact customer service. Hell, maybe even try now to see if they're actually having issues in your area so at least you'll know.
I love how people come here and post that they are having signal issues and data issues and they haven't called Sprint to see if there is an outage or issues in their area. The first thing I would do it restart my phone and call Sprint. Not flash a radio, try a different ROM...blah blah blah.
Or... maybe it didnt occur to you that calling to see if there were network issues was the first thing I did. You think id actually go through the trouble of doing all that over again without calling first? I guess I should've said that but c'mon lol...
tgruendler has a valid point. we can't assume anything. we get enough "noobs" here that unless you tell us what you've done, we assume you jumped straight to XDA without doing your due diligence. Perhaps those 66 views all thought the same, "this guy hasn't even contacted sprint. pass!" now that we've ruled sprints network out, now we can do something constructive.
what radio version are you running?
I mean I hear you and all but look at my join date lol... im far from a noob I just dont post much. The really odd thing is I switched back to an older radio and the problem went away. I flashed the newer radio and it came back so im seriously wondering just wtf...
Im using the 1.34 radio and the problem is gone. Im just curious as to why the newer radio frizzed out on me all of a sudden since i've been using that one for like a month. I dunno but it seems like the issue is fixed for now.
i noticed this same exact issue when I installed fresh ROM. I know I installed the new radio back then as well. see my post:

Anyone else seeing this on occasion? It seems like every few days I'll have some sort of radio issues on this device, and it's continued despite having all recent software updates.
Sometimes wifi or LTE will suddenly die, even though both icons appear completely normal in the status bar...a handful of times I've had the mobile network suddenly die and have an 'x' over the status bar icon while showing zero bars. Sometimes a toggle off and back on of the problematic radio will fix the issue until next time, and sometimes a full reboot is necessary.
Aside from the minor screen tinting issue and this issue I really love the phone, but it does become somewhat annoying. And I know it's not just this device, as both OP8P phones I've had have done the exact same thing, and my wife's OP8 does the same thing too....so it's gotta be a software/VZW/etc. thing. Is anyone else here seeing similar things and/or found any resolution other than having to toggle/reboot? Thanks!
I've noticed this same thing too (OP8P on VZW) but for me it seems to only really happen at work which I find odd. Haven't found any permanent solutions myself though unfortunately. Just kinda randomly happens occasionally.
OP is working on a fix, at least for t-mobile germany. Read that in the german t-mobile support forums. Likely a bug in the SD modem. However I don't know if that addresses the wifi issue.

Interesting...mobile data seems to be the far more often culprit in my experience (and more critical, since certain things like SMS/MMS/calls/etc. get killed dead if that goes out). Any chance you still have the link for that post?
