New Market Changes - EVO 4G General

I am getting some new features in Market right now. When I start typing to search for an app I get a new icon showing that I have searched that before as a history item, and also the Market makes suggestions as you type. I have a feeling this has something to do with the announcement tomorrow. Anyone else noticing these changes?

Same thing here.

happing on my EvO too

Same here This stuff is way overdue but hey, better late than never.

I'm noticing it to, I think tomorrow they are going to announce changes to the market and some kind of Google Music service.

Likewise, i have been noticing it all day, we will c what the big deal is tomorrow

Yeah, I noticed that too, just thought I had overlooked it when I got the update. That's cool that it was released today. Sure is useful. Definitely overdue, but then again, the rest of Android has always been awesome. I'd rather have the JIT compiler and the V8 engine than suggestions.

To try to force the update on to your phone, try this:
Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>Market and clear data on it.

Interface looks like a huge improvement; disappointed on the 15-minute refund window though.. should at least be an hour.

Wobderous.
I didn't have to force just clicked install and it replaced old one.
15 minutes tryout totally sucks.
It will just lead to more piracy.
It should have been at least an hour..., who is the idiot making these decisions at Google...?
wow, I opened the market and it was the new one right off the bat! Question though: wasn't it supposed to have video previews? I haven't seen an app that has it yet.
How do I force-update?

So basically its only for newer devices with official froyo release?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
there is no official Froyo release for the US market.
But you do have to have an unoficial Froyo on the phone, yes.
Here is the apk available from androidspin (it works OK for me, but no guarantees).

Wow
Wonder who's gonna get in trouble for hacking verizon servers.
For that is the only feasible way that I could ever possibly believe on how someone got their hands on the source code.

This is how it should be done! Samsung and the carriers SHOULD have a developer update. That way developers can sign up for the beta releases so they can go in and help fix problem areas. That way, they'll have updates for everyone else MUCH, MUCH faster.
Instead, they're either firing or hiring a new head Android programmer at Samsung:

i just hope this gets in the hands of our boys and trhey can actually do something with it
This is good news for us.
Not sure what it really means, if anything for us. Just an interesting find, if it's even true. If our boys could get anything from it that would be awesome. I am interested to see what VZW has done with the build, and if any of the DK28 bugs could be fixed with some code form this build. Still, I don't think we will see it. More than anything, if Verizon gets an update out the heat will really be on Sprint to get something out. I am just starting to get concerned that our work is being further delayed by this February 7th announcement that Sprint is prepping.

I read the article and it says nothing about source code... Just a leaked build like our DK28. They probably got it from a Samsung guy sympathetic to their cause.

That's also why it doesn't mean quite so much for us, unless they can utilize and code in the build for bug fixes in our own. I just think that both Sprint and Verizon will be under increased pressure to get things out.
Oh man. I wonder if the TV Out drivers are in there.
Probably just some internal leak from an employee fed up with the wait...possibly.

Ok so another reliable vzw source tweeted today that they soft released bb os 6.0 and "sammy up next". Looks like even though vzw is mum on the update communication, they will likely beat sprint to the punch.

lol, I don't really care about that, but the froyo announcement is what gets my heart beating!!
Praise be, but what is their source...? Guess I'll search and hopefully find soon, because if it doesn't come from an official Sprint channel, I regard it as pretty much BS. Thanks for posting though.
Yay maybe this time the release date is real

Citation Needed lol.
I hope it is true, but with the comment about the tablet being announced, this makes it look like someone is speculating and rolling the dice. (How many times have we heard "I have an inside source, it is DEFINITELY this <significant date>" ?) If you throw turds at the wall, sooner or later one will stick.
I hope it is true though, and it does make sense to do it during the big hoopla
I didn't even crack a smile reading that article....this damn Epic had the most hype I've ever seen for a phone....and now we get the least respect with this late ass Froyo release...lol, I'm just waiting for the source code to see what our great developers can cook up for us!
That's if this release date is actually lidgit...
Well that would be awesome if its true. 2 weeks inbetween the official and the source being released means that I would get to use the official rom for around 2-3 weeks before meaningful roms are released with new and exciting features.
There is nothing on Google News. Nothing on Sprint's Twitter feed. "Don't youuuuu beelieeeeeeve iiiiit...."
Next time I search before even opening a topic like this.
Yeah right.

The BB Playbook will run android apps.... I'm so getting one that thing is sexy
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...k-to-run-Android-apps/articleshow/7473802.cms
RIM plans to integrate the technology with the PlayBook operating system, giving customers access to Android's more than 130,000 apps, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the effort isn't public. RIM, after looking outside the company, is developing the software internally and may have it ready in the second half, two people said.

old, and retarded.
Why waste thousands of dollars on trying to figure out how to run apk files, when you can simply install AOSP honeycomb, and have it look 1000x better.
1 day old news is old a retarded? lol. Let me not feed
I think this is great. I'm curious to see if it actually follows through and how they will put the Android market on it... that's my biggest question. Seems unlikely to have a device with two market places.

If they follow through I'd buy one, always wanted a tablet that wasn't a Tab or an iPad. Having two markets isn't that ridiculous. Isn't there a way for people with rooted phones/jailbroken iPhones that can install the other's market on them?
It'll still rely on RIMs horrible OS. No thanks. Now if only WebOs could run our apks...

What makes you say RIMs OS is horrible? The new QNX based OS looks great. It's funny that you are a WebOS fan, and wouldn't be interested in the PlayBook. They are extremely similar in terms of UI.
I've only read great things about their new OS. If you have some articles saying otherwise, I'd be very interested to see it.

Sprint didn't do this, RIM did.
If/When the BB playbook goes to Verizon, should we thank them as well for a software feature which they had no involvement in?

Browser changes its theme?

This is something I've noticed for a while, but whenever I open the stock browser on EH17, I see a glimpse of the Galaxy SII's browser, where it has the grey bookmark icon at the top right. Then, a second later, it will change back to its Eclair-like "light blue" icon.
Anyone know the reason for this, or any way to get it to stay as the GS2 theme?
Thanks.
No one knows?

I never really looked into it, but its a framework conflict I believe.
I think its because the browser takes over control of the look as its starting up.
