Did anybody tried the new htc sync 3.0 with htc hero on android 2.1? They say on htc official site that it's working on htc devices with android 2.1 but on web it's said that this update is just for htc wildfire. I cannot download it for a trial for the moment.
I think I got the answer and I will wait. By the way, HTC sync really sucks!

Don't use it then! oh and it's just for the htc wildfire for now.
It should work for Hero too. Just not on Vanilla builds obviously

That looks so much better than the old sync. Did you delete Sync 2 before installing? Did you have any problems or was it nice and easy? Are you on a stock ROM?

I wasn't using any sync before hand but it's always wise to uninstall anything you have application wise before installing the new versions.

Not true - if the application is written correctly it shouldn't matter whether you have an old version installed. It is incredibly rare than a new version of software will break older ones unless they explicitly state that it will (i.e. there has been a major code/structure change).
It is not a Microsoft update, so it won't break older code.

It's not true. Well on forums I see people doing 'upgrades' to applications and I see people face problems all the time doing it this method.
Theres plenty apps there has been issues with including java/vmware/flash beta ...... et al.

When you consider how many of millions of people update their software like this and out of that you might get a few thousand with problems you're still talking a very minor amount. There is no need to uninstall every app you want to update. This would take ages. I don't care if you want to do it for every app you update but don't recommend this to others as its just going to put people updating software when they should be.
And i've never had a problem updating java, vmware or flash (even using the beta versions) from older versions to newer ones. Java used to leave behind the old ones but it never negatively affected a system (aside from filling up the hard drive). VMWare is worthless anyway (get VirtualBox - support the open source community). Flash is made by Adobe - of course its going to have issues - they make software for Mac's then break the software and release it for PC. Having said this I very rarely have an issue with software updates unless it is explicitly stated on their website that it requires you to uninstall before updating.

1 installed htc sync 3 over 2.0.33 i had both the sync on my pc but ver 3 was not working, so i unstalled 2.0.33, tried again
no luck
2 then i unistalled ver 3 as well restarted my pc installed sync 3 again no luck
any idea how do we can get this to work

Yes it does tell you that its not recognized and the HTC Sync is not found on your computer when the phone trying to search for it. But I left it connected to go and search on Google to find out why, Guess what .. It run by itself telling me that I have Hero phone and what I should call it!!
Now I am syncing my stuff and its just working fine, just leave it for 2-3 minutes and it show up by itself

Thats probably because its installing drivers and detecting the correct phone et al. Glad it works.
Oh, forgot to mention..... when u plug in your usb select sync from the menu...

It might not work with that ROM, try asking someone to try it who is using that ROM to see if they get the same effect.

technically, you could ping your hotmail account and display a notifier if you've got a new mail. But as musiccube says, you'd have to be online.

Missing miniSD
I have a dopod 838 [aka WIZA 100]. I was fiddling with my device today and I noticed in Resco Explorer that my miniSD card was missing [I checked the slot and it was inserted] I look at it thru Explorer via Activesync and the miniSD was not there also. I did a soft reset and it came back. Has anyone else experienced a problem like this? I have a 1GB miniSD from SanDisk.
some contacts don't sync
I can't Activesync some contacts with Outlook. The problem seems to be only related to contacts with a note in Outlook. Removing the note doesn't help, I have to manually copy all the details without the note, then the new contact is synchronized.

I am also experiencing this from time to time, and this is what I do when it is happening.
Disconnect sync cable. Close all running apps on the pda. (I use an app called InClose) Connect sync cable again and I am connected.

Very nice. One small suggestion- took a few tries to figure out that I had to check the "Guest" box on the Sirius setup in order to get it to save my XM page login settings. Maybe a small instructions pop up would help, or else a save button on the XM page.
Otherwise, works and sounds great.
When I installed it on my mogul, which has the latest rom update, it said that the "application requires a newer version of the Microsoft .Net Compact Framework than the version installed on this device". Why is it telling me that and how can I check to see if I got the latest .net installed?
I installed it an put my xm password into the sirius box before I discovered that there was an xm settings box. After I was able to login, I kept getting errors whenever I tried to open certain channels. Deleting the sirrius.sav and xm.xml and restarting the app fixed the issues.

I have the fuze also and when i first installed the app it worked great but then i also would not get sound i think they pulled the plug on it or something can someone varify that the sound works as of right now.
**side note: if you only want a couple of the channels just edit the xml file thats what i did so i would not have to scroll through the whole list and yes the sound stoped working before i edited the xml file **

when i click on channels all i see is a blank screen! i have a fuze running NTAF 2.2 i have no clue waht is wrong but i would like to listen to my channel 24!!! 90s rock!!!

ok i have no idea exactly what i did but i installed TCPMP and I droped these two Windows codec files into my phone's \windows\ folder and starplyr worked like a charm...sound, album pic etc..its great ... my sirius account worked on my Fuse
i tried to upload TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-PPC-recomp-03.CAB but it didnt go thru check in the forum it's where i got it from

well i just tried it from wifi and it worked im thinking maybe at&t is behind it not sure i will investigate some more can others who are having the sound problem let me know what network there on. thanks

what seemed to work is disabling the proxy server under settings>connections now it works great

I'm guessing, but I think the impression of leaked came about because if you actually goto the StarPlayr website, it says WinMobile version is coming soon.
Again, I'm just guessing. When this thread first started, that ws the first thing I did was visit the StarPlayr website to see the status. Since it still said coming soon I figured maybe it was leaked.

is this after a fresh power cycle? are there programs in the recent program list? do you have alot of startup apps running? do you use CleanRAM? looks like only about 35-45mb of memory is used up by apps, the other 80mb is all system programs that you cant stop. check whats in your startup folder in my device/windows/startup. with only 94mb of storage space left, looks like either you got alot of apps installed or you got a ROM loaded with apps on the main memory...what ROM are you using?
HA your using a 6.5x ROM...can tell by the start icon. try finding another ROM that has more memory...check the specs. also still tell me the answers from the above so i can further help you

Go to the got mine thread sticked in the general area, there is a post of mine with 2 .cabs you can download to help alievate the problem. The issue is that the phone is running opera even when you X out and as well is caching all the apps. These two cabs stop that, I installed it and get the mem usage down to 45% at startup.
Cant find your thread even looking for threads started by you.

I just installed both cabs,and I will let you know about the impressions.
I am running stock WM 6.5 on my Touch Pro 2.
The good thing is that both files appear in Remove Programs list,so if any side effects are being noticed,both files can be simply uninstalled from phone.

As far as I know,the smaller one turns push internet off,so it will not run in the background constantly.
The other one,bigger,prevents Opera from automatic start,and running in the background even when you exit the Opera browser. Maybe you did not know,but when you turn the phone on,Opera starts automatically and runs in the background all the time,whether you close the program or not. And that process is hidden,therefore,you can not kill it,nor end it using task manager.
I installed both applications two days ago,running stock WM 6.5,and I am now testing. I am now IDLING at 60 % of RAM usage,instead of 76% prior to installation.And phone runs great,no changes at all,without any glitches whatsoever....so far

no push internet disables opera from auto dloading pages and save a good amount of mem. not sure about the other.
RAM Cleaner
Well guys,after several days of testing these two cabs,I found out that in fact,they do not work on WM 6.5
They work when the phone is started,because the phone starts with much less memory used,but after browsing in Opera and Skyfire and camera actions,memory leaks again and comes to 76 - 80 % of usage,and it can not go down without resetting the phone.
I Installed RAM Cleaner and it is far better option. It also has schedule,so you can set it to run automatically and keep the RAM clean,without you even do anything.
Anyway,thanks to the creators of those two cabs.

using it right now and seems to be working... having it clean level 2 every 6hrs.
BE CAREFUL USING RAM CLEANERS WITH MANILA/SENSE. IT WILL FREEZE AFTER THE CLEAN BECAUSE OF SOMETHING WITH MANILA/SENSE RESTARTING. PUT MANILA/SENSE ON YOUR EXCEPTION LIST BEFORE YOU CLEAN SO THE CLEANER WILL CLEAN UP RAM OF EVERYTHING BUT MANILA/SENSE.

Not a tech guy to prove it, but I am using htcCleanRAM for quite a while and I have never had this issue. I clean the RAM with HTC Sense on and it works fine each time

Hey guys, this is 2 Bunny. This is kind of my introduction thread. I share an account on here with KAINPPC6700, so some posts will be from me, some from KainPpc6700.
I've found that this is a very helpful community and have found some very useful hints, CABS, and more on here. I cook over at PPCGeeks for the CDMA HTC Diamond and prefer the tried and true WM6.1, build 21055. I've found that it may be best that I expand my horizons and use both sites for the betterment of the community. I am just a few weeks away from another major ROM release.
Anyway, the real reason I stopped in to post this thread was because I was asking about my 0ld school hp iPAQ h4155/h4150 (I wonder if anyone still has any of these things) and thought it might like a much needed upgrade to Windows Mobile 5, as it runs Windows Mobile 2003 by default, and if you've ever dealtwith WM2003 before, you know how annoying and picky it is about everything. The hardware specs look disappointingly low as far as ROM and RAM are concerned, which brings me to my next question: "Is there anything you can do as far as cooking ROMs is concerned if nobody made a kitchen?" I don't even know if people cooked custom ROMs back then, but at any rate, I'm not sure at all about it which is why I'm asking. It seems like it could be useful as a backup device, but many of my applications wouldn't run on WM2003, and I am really slow as far as getting a new one/getting it fixed/etc. are concerned. Not that I plan to break my Diamond or anything though, LOL! I hope to use that for years to come (as long as Windows Mobile is still usable) and continue to cook for it, but it would still be fun to relive the good ol' iPAQ 4150.

There's nothing you can do with it.
And as it does have 32MB ROM, WM5 was never made for it as it requires at least 64MB ROM.

I think you're pretty much doomed if you don't have the kernel source and drivers for WM5. WM2003 is totally different from WM5 and later because of the non-persistant storage. You're best bet is to just try building custom 2003 roms, and that may be pretty tough, too.

I guess that's the next best thing. Do you know of any places where I can cook or find custom WM2003 ROMs for h4150? Could it maybe be upgraded to WM2003 "SE". That's a small step forward in and of itself.

I have no idea. I have a 2003 device, too (asus mypal), and I looked around for kitchens/roms for it, and all I ever found was the occasional post from someone looking for a rom for it, lol. The device I had never got any updates, so there aren't any official roms available. I've tried dumping the rom with pdocread and it didn't work at all. I've also tried buzz lightyear's dumping tool (don't remember the name), and all it seemed to dump was the bootloader (I found others who had the same issue).
Your best bet is to try to find an official rom for the device, and then dump it. You're probably going to brick it, though, don't you think?
For the asus, the closest thing to a custom rom is a linux port, which is available at handhelds.org. They patched the bootloader to dual-boot (linux off the cf or sd card). You have to flash the bootloader, but there are no actual roms out there. I'm not really sure when rom cooking started, but I suspect that few 2003 custom roms exist. You can look at the old forums here (like the himalaya), and there's not a lot of rom development, I believe.

Uhmm... doesn't the Blue Angel have 32 MB of rom space as well? You have some of the latest 6.5.5 builds running in it right now. Needless to say, you need to strip a lot of stuff from the SYS folder, but the biggest problem is not fitting the rom for the 32 MB, but rather porting the whole thing over.

Unless HP released a WM5 upgrade for the pda, you'll never be able to run a newer build because you won't have the nk.exe (or all the drivers). I guess if there was a very similar device that had WM5 on in it, maybe you could try to patch some stuff together.

Hmmm... I know they never released an official WM5 upgrade for it, but what kind of "similarities" would there have to be? Just the same CPU, or would memory, sound, screen controller, wireless, etc. Need to be present too?

HTC Himalaya and similar were test hardware in HTC, while Microsoft was working on WM5. That's why we got WM5 for those devices - and later WM6.

I'm getting the error: 800705B4 when trying to update my phone.
So I found a solution on Microsoft's website.
However, the instructions say turn the phone off, which is fine.
Then turn it on, which is fine. But then hold the camera button immediately after turning it on to put it into update mode and this should appear on the phone's screen:

ive been trying to find out exactly what is happening, i suspect its driver related, or at least partially driver related. ive been trying to find out exactly what is happening and why it doesnt work, but i cant find out exactly what driver is installed when a HD7 goes in to update mode,
ive asked on the HD7 forum but no one seems capable of telling me what VID and PID is associated with the device when it goes in to update mode.

Because I haven't seen any threads similar to this one on xda, and I would've thought at least one person would have tried to update and reported their error by now?
I do. I also can't enter in update mode with my HD2. Absolutely the same situation as you ...
ive given up, i dont have the money to get an HD7 and the hassle of trying to get someone else to do things to their HD7s is too much, im still very much of the opinion that at the very moment updating fails, Windows desktop identifies the device as a LEO device, its not a coincidence, it might not be the whole story but im sure its a big part of it.
to be honest, i really cant be bothered updating the ROM or reflashing as we will need to do, im going to wait until we have some worthwhile updates, ideally even some kind of back up program so i wouldnt need to do it again, in the mean time it works just perfect the now so im not to fussed.

Look people..YOU CANNOT UPDATE THE HD2 WP7 ROM USING ZUNE NOR ANY OTHER TOOL CURRENTLY OUT THERE!!!!
WPSupportTool does NOT work on the HD2. Chevron7 Updater (in my case and I haven't heard anyone else having success) does not work neither!!!!
As for not flashing any new updates to WP7, to each is own, but how much stuff have you got loaded on your phone that you wouldn't want to re-flash with WP7 releases?
I personally can have all my contacts, calendar entries, most of my marketplace and sideloaded apps, and 6 email accounts loaded on to my phone after a flash inside 45 minutes. And it wouldn't take long to put customer ringtones and alerts, and any music/video on there through Zune. It's not as though we have anything to flash again anytime soon. Release 7008 is it until the NoDo release is put out by DFT. Who knows when that is coming, although I've heard gossip it's supposed to be in the next couple of weeks.
Chill mate, think he gets the picture already, we know it doesn't work, I would like to find out why it doesn't, its nit a matter of being impossible, its a matter of finding out why! As for reflashing, I have several apps that are essential, they do not support skydrive so any reflash will mean me losing the data, although in saying that, with everything being sandboxes it might be possible to manually locate and copy it....hmmm there's an idea =). Next project set!

yes it will until you put it in to update mode where by its identified as a LEO, the phone wont update unless in update mode

If there was a solution, I think the XDA cooks would have found it by now. Demanding aren't we. WP7 was never supposed to be run on the HD2. The entire OS and UI was built around hardware criteria driven by Microsoft to the phone manufacturers.

I also get an error code : 80180048 when I try to update my hd2 win7 with zune. Has anybody also received this message and has it been fixed by anyone yet? Will we be updating any time soon without re-flashing?

So we souldnt even bother to try and work stuff out because "someone else" will fix it?
There is a patch available for a Samsung phone for this very error.
Perhaps it holds the key to solving this issue on HD2?
