If 2.1 is suppose to hit Aug 15, one would think SE would make the announcement already. One point six isn't that great of a selling point when most of the other phones have 2.1 or higher.

Why the 15th?
If there's a major SE event that date there might be something to it, August is in the third quarter.
The only major event is that they are releasing the X10 in the U.S. But they already stated it will be coming with 1.6
They are not just going to slip 2.1 in without telling us. We'll know when it's coming in due time.

Since most of SE's sales come from outside North America (I have no official figures, just stating logically) where their phones are bought for the actual cost and not subsidized by the carriers, I don't think that it really is such a big event for them. The world doesn't revolve around us ya know...

Yep, I have been a week in London and I was surprised to find so few cell phones shops (generic shops I mean, not operator shops). That was a bit weird as in Italy cell phone are sold almost anywhere (not by the butcher, though) and only a small percentage is tighten to a carrier contract.
vodafone in Australia looks pretty nice you pay 0 for the phone and $79 a month. I dont know if thats normal there but 0 for the phone looks like a good deal.

Rogers released it for 149. in the beginning.
I think this aug 15 thing is a false statement. They would have said something about it if it was true.
August 15th is the official release date for the Xperia X10a in the U.S.
Android 2.1 update will not be released until Q1 2011...
LoL @ anyone thinking that Sony Ericsson would actually release anything ahead of schedule.
If anything they will delay the release of the firmware for 2 weeks for for 1 month.
Don't expect the firmware to be released any sooner than November.

it was pushed backed again at least for ATT in America. Im not too sure about the rest of the world. Hopefully that is not the case.
Looks like everybody is trying hard for 2.1 update by coming out with new thread lol.
As per 2.1 update, it's going to come in September. I spoke to SE guy yesterday in Mumbai, India and looked like he was pretty sure about it. Just wait for few weeks and we'll get it.
I work for Sony and that's what we were told... like i said this is probably only relating to AT&T U.S. not everywhere else...
The devs need to get that bootloader cracked ASAP! lol
Highfive ashman! I totally second that!

$0 upfront is pretty standard here. the handset repayments are included in the monthly bill, until you start getting the the expensive plans where they make the money back through the plan. having said that, I'm pretty fond of mine. i'm on a $0 upfront $59 cap + $10 handset repayments. gets me $300 of calls, unlimited national text and mms free youtube, FB and myspace +2GB.
back OT, i'm waiting on september (or later, carrier dependent)

hey guys, is there any new information regarding a release date for the HD2 on o2 yet? i've not heard anything for a while anyone know anything?
nope, and it doesn't look like O2 know themselves....
which is hugely disappointing...and to be honest, hugely incompetent I think. A lot of places have it down to availability from 11th November...yet O2 still don't know.
i was told next week by an assitant manager in an o2 store, but im kinda wondering if that will happen now. I was impressed as he showed me proof and everything but i will believe when i see one in a store and therefore have it in my hand very soon after that...
been on the phone with t-mobile today, they will have the phone in stock from 6th November but after going through further testing the actual release date is likely to be a few days afterwards. No details on price plans yet. I'm guessing the situation is the same for O2
I just called up O2 and they said the 2nd Nov (Monday)!
i work for o2 and the release date for retail stores has been pushed back to week beginning 16th Nov, may be available a little earlier over the phone

I got the same answer - and I have had that answer twice now so I think that will be the earliest we will see it. Also for info I had a play with the Omnia II today. Not impressed really - nice screen but the TouchWiz is pretty poor really.

Really thats so bad, so its coming out after T-mobile now? This really does make me want to switch networks but i think ill end up waiting as i couldnt stand to be on tmobile in general.
yeah it's annoying it's been delayed so much, but the reasons i've been given for the delay are that it's still being tested and there's been stock issues with the hd2 and a couple of other phones

It's kind of unusual that they're releasing the phone so shortly after it's unbranded/network free release. They normally take a few months...
well the phone was supposed to have launched on the 26th october originally
looks like i'll be moving to another network then, don't think i can wait that long my current phone is really close to death, this is such a let down...
just got the info on the tariff and it looks like when it does launch, it will only be free on a £75/month tariff, £49 on a £45/month tariff and £99 on a £35/month tariff
Where did you get the info from mate, If those are the tariffs, I might go to Tmobile.
Did you get a release date too?
i work for them, got the updated prices today, release date is supposed to be week beginning 16th nov

That can't be right...that's daylight robbery!!!! I'm going to have to go through retentions methinks. It's cheaper on T-Mobile and although I don't like them, I know they are merging with Orange so they won't always have such bad coverage....
Dont like that is standard o2 prices, the most i would pay would be £100 and well looks like im in on that one as its in my budget completely. (though it would be nice if it was free obviously.
it really is ridiculous but the iphone is partly to blame, because it's so heavily subsidised, prices for everything else has gone up. The pricing for the SE Satio is even worse, that's chargeable no matter how much you pay a month
is this on a 12/18/24 month contract. This needs to be more specific.

This may be the case, but they could do what they wanted with iPhone exclusivity. However most networks have the HD2, so I'd be surprised if they didn't make sure their tariffs are aligned with the other networks. We'll see what happens in the coming weeks I suppose.
There seems to be quite a few people wanting an Arc to suit AT&T, Telstra, Rogers, etc.
I have posted a message here:
http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/produ...its-the-stores/comment-page-1/#comment-149670
And Rikard replied saying he will try to find out what is available for us.
If any one has any info about availability of the LT15a, please post it here.
Edit:
Late April for Rogers: http://mobilesyrup.com/2011/03/31/r...and-arc-launching-late-april-99-99-on-3-year/
I did add another request to make sure he sees the demand. Hopefully he gets some answers.
I don't like creating new post while there are some existing. Rogers will have the ARC out by end of this month (maximum in 26 days) has anyone else in the world getting arc working on 850? Brazil?
People with Rogers, have they release any price without contract yet?
Thanks

Quick Overview
The specifications suggest that Cliaro (possibly Xperia X12) will have TI OMAP4 1.5GHz processor, Android 2.2 (Froyo) and a 4-inch AMOLED 1080×720 resolution screen. The 10mm thick Xperia X12 is also expected to sport a 12 megapixel camera.

I called one of these re-seller which have no clue whatsoever about the arc. Waiting may be dangerous for me

I thought this is the only place I can share my pain (reminding me when I was waiting for my X10a) when it comes to gadgets I am like a 2 years old baby screaming.

Yes the hardware was important once for me when I got my HD2 as soon as it came out but then design was more important and hardware won't play a big difference for me since I am more for the design and how the phone feels. To me ARC specs are reasonably good for what it is.
I am also going from X10a and arc should be a good replacement. Galaxy S2 is pushed back to May or June?
Just called Rogers to see what it's going to cost to do an early upgrade from my X10a. They don't have it in the system yet so they couldn't give me a price :-( Will try later on.
Not sure if I should stick with branded Rogers to get retain that awesome warranty they have or if I should screw the warranty and go with a unbranded version. The warranty is important because I run & bike with my X10a (since I found a great fitness app) so I think it's just a matter of time before I kill it.

One thing that I am not sure is when you buy it from Rogers buy off contract would that be unbranded or not(I assume not) but unless you buy lt15a from Rogers I don't know anywhere else selling them at this moment.

With all this excitement over in the U.K. and Europe about the HTC release, we Americans are patiently awaiting some kind of news of a release date here. To my knowledge, there has been no update from AT&T, T-Mobile or Sprint since the initial HTC unveiling last month.
With whom and where in the USA did you make your pre-order, find a fully working demo, find an announcement for a release date, or receive your first HTC One?
No release date for US version yet
There is no information for the US version but I am also waiting big time.
I had a preorder from Hantec.uk but now the release date has been pushed back to at least March 25 so I have until then to see if the US version will come out soon after. If it is close I will just cancel my order and get from the US so I can also get the ATT warranty on the phone.
they said we are first priority, but i dont believe that, i feel like they are going to wait until the gs4 is released so they can release it at the same time, they did the same **** with the vivid when the gs2 came out.
HTC would have been so better off if they could have sold it's flagship phone before the Galaxy S4 takes over the Ad's. Too bad for HTC

I've never heard of at&t taking any phones back for a trade in. Sure you get a lower price signing up for a 2yr contract but not a trade in.
Also while HTC did have a hand in brokering the deal, they are not the ones running the program. Clover is.
I think the program dates will either be extended or we'll see something early next week for a release the week of the 24th. Probably the former unfortunately. Either way I'm not holding my breath though.
It just sucks that HTC has said that the USA is their largest target market, and we'll be getting it at the same time as the other countries, if not later it seems.

I have pre-ordered mine through Rogers. I believe the pre-order ends on March 22. Perhaps that is when we may expect the release of the One. That's the most solid info that seems to be floating around.
Anyone have info related to the Canadian release date, please post.

But can i buy it from Telus and use it on Koodo? From my understanding, its the same company, same network, so will i have any issues? Some network incompatibility?
Just moving back to Canada and need to get a plan and phone so im leaning towards Koodo as it offers good plans.
Really hoping the production delays won't be affecting us Canadians too much. I'm keeping close tabs on Mobilesyrup for any news regarding the One's release. Didn't go w/ the pre-order through Rogers. Figured I'll probably get it faster if I check various Rogers stores the day it's released.

Yes,
I did the opposite. I bought a One V from Koodo outright ($175), put my Telus sim card in it and was up and running in no time.
A Telus or Koodo "locked" device work on either. My "my Telus Mobility" page even shows a Koodo One V as my current phone.

Damn I am jealous of all you guys. I got an HTC One X+ about 4 months ago. I would love to have the One but I need to wait for the next iteration. I know for the vast majority of people the storage is enough, but I need at least 64GB. My one X+ has 4 GB free and it is 64. Here is to hoping for the next one. I love the build quality of HTC devices compared to other android vendors, and from what it seems this one is the best so far.

Yup, blackberries are unique because of BBM and the fact that their email etc has to be routed through their servers. That is also why all companies have smartphone plans, then blackberry plans due to the licencing fee. If it is not a Blackberry, it should be fine. The fellow I responded to was asking specifically about the One

I am hoping the 64gb version of the One makes it here (in black). If not, 32gb is fine for me at least. I got the One V as a temp phone cause I was pissed last years One XL and S had only 16gb versions for Canada. Almost jumpsed on the One X+ but figured i'd wait for the inevitable spring / MWC ish flagship that HTC always releases. I am glad I did.

I read that it would be available in March. I haven't read of any delays in Canada. Nothing other than they won't disclose a launch date and it is nearing the end of the month.
So perhaps it no longer is March.
"Merrill Lynch says HTC One will be released in four markets this month"

In fact, they just delayed even further the release on the other markets (i.e., Italy was March end, now is April 13th)

"HTC Canada: Mihir - We don't have any exact dates or prices but it will begin to be available in certain regions in March. Stay tuned for more."
Granted this was said in Feb.
As per press release on LG's website, global rollout is commencing on June 27th - http://www.lgnewsroom.com/newsroom/contents/64542
Can't wait to get this phone in my hands and try it out. Could well be my next. :good:
June 27th for selected regions
Following its strong debut in South Korea, LG Electronics (LG) will begin its global rollout of its highly praised G3 smartphone on June 27. LG G3 will first reach Asian customers in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines followed by the rest of Asia, Europe and the Middle East among other regions in July.

I saw this announcement as well wonder what it means for shipments in the UK as mobilephonesdirect state it should be in stock by the 26th and three uk have also stated the 26th as well.
Just want to point out that the UK release date is still the 26th June.
My body is ready.

Well I am told I am getting mine on the 26th (and it is the date that is listed on Three's website) and I know that Clove Technology said yesterday that their orders will be ready for the 26th too.
In-fact I think that Carphone Warehouse are the only UK company to not confirm the 26th as release date.
So strange... everywhere i read it's 27th for China... and beginning of july for the rest...
In Germany, it's 03/07 ...
Still "coming soon" for Tmobile, I give up.
Netherlands is announced July 3rd, allready ordered it and it should be delivered the 3rd.

Blame the CLOSED NATURE of the U.S. telcoms. At&t, Verizon pretty much have the market "locked up".
T-mobile tries, Sprint...well, it's Sprint...
BEFORE anything comes to the U.S. telcom market, it has to have features stripped, bloat added and have
tattoos of the carrier plastered all over it. If I were a smartphone maker, the U.S. would be the LAST place
I'd worry about marketing to.

As much as I hate to say it. I'd do what sony is doing and avoid it. If no phones came here, they'd have to change.

I don't think the phone manufacturers have anything to worry about, snubbing the USA market. Look at the sales in Korea, Japan & China...they can sell MILLIONS in just an hour or so. Until they cut off the USA market, nothing will change with the USA telcoms. With a locked up market,
they don't give a rats about their customers. T-mobile is starting to crack the freeze out between at&t and Verizon, but it's a long battle.
I remember when the courts broke up "Southwestern Bell" into AT&T and the baby bells. It's taken almost 30 years to put them back together.
With just two main competitors, along with Sprint, T-mobile and a few regional MVNO's, there isn't much choice in what you can use in the
USA.
July 17th for T-Mobile.
