I apologise if this is in the wrong section. I got my Sony xperia X10i which was unlocked but had Vodafone branding (I’m on o2). I debraned the phone using a program i found online which seamed to work. When i restarted i found that i didn't have the android market app, YouTube app, Yahoo app and I’m not sure if there are any others that i have lost. The base version is 1.1.28 and the build number R2BA024. Will flashing the phone re-install these apps, or will waiting for the 2.1 update cure my issues?
Any help would be gratefully received.
Reflashing will do the trick
I have now sorted the problem. Turns out when i first debranded the phone i flashed the phone to Turkish software. As the phone thought it was turkish no Android market app or YouTube were availiable as Turkey is a country that is not surported by Google.
I re-flashed my phone with some british software and now she's working like a dream.
You can access the secret menu to find the country of origin by pressing menu, back, back, menu, back, menu, menu, back when on your home screen.

Hello,
I'm a bit at a loss... Just got my X10 mini Pro 2 days ago, and last night used PC Companion to update the software... since then my Y/Z keys are mixed up (QWERTZ/QWERTY), I got a bunch of new Apps for chinese market or channels (channelnewsasia.com or so), and even a chinese soft-keyboard in the menu... so I'm assuming this isn't the ROM I'm supposed to have?
(The X10 mini pro is a Swiss model)
So yeah... I went to the SE page (chose Switzerland), and got me SEUS. Reinstalled the Software, but didn't see any change (except for the loss of my settings/apps of course).
Downloaded PC Companion from the SE page (again Switzerland) - reinstalled it, and chose to repair... still no change.
Would anyone know what I'm doing wrong, or how I can fix this? Its getting annoying, and I also don't trust the mobile with passwords and such, as long as I don't know whats going on. Do I need to send the phone in for repair?
btw... SEUS and PC Companion always had german text during installation/repair...
PS:
After these unsuccessful tries, I also tried to root the mobile, but the drivers don't seem to register correctly, and adb just gives me a device not found.
Infos from the phone:
Firmware version: 1.6
Baseband version: unknown
Kernel version: 2.6.29 [email protected]#1
Build number: 1.1.A.0.8
Arrr! Wrong forum! Could some mod kindly move to the X10 mini forum?
update: Found the original memory card from the x10 mini pro, and reinstalled PC companion from there... repaired... same state...
Hi all,
Got a message appear on my phone in the info bar today, says a new software update is available.
I've tried to follow it through but it says I must connect to the Sony Ericsson suite on my PC to get the update.
Anyone know what it is?
Ive got X10i FW1.6, Baseband 1.1.25, Kernel 2.6.29-rel with build R2BA020
Bought from Virgin Mobile (who supply them direct from SE factory completely unlocked with no carrier specifics on)
I may try to update when I get home from work tonight but the last time I updated the software from the PC suite it took about an hour and wiped the phone back to basic settings, I only want to do this if its Android 2.1!

I think it's R2BA026, Was news that they were realsed in the U.K and France to debranded phones
Its a good update, do it, forget for now the 2.1, it will stay 1.6, 2.1 will be lauched in 2/3 weeks.
and don't worry about wiping the phone - you won't need to with this update.
you will update to R2BA026
Hello,
I recently bought HTC wildfire from Vodafone, Germany. It was unlocked, but of course with Vodafone branding. I installed ClockworkMod to root it and then i flashed a new ROM from sd card. I installed 1.37.405.1, using an apply method from ClockworkMod application. I took the ROM from Wildfire forum at MoDaCo site.
The update was successful, and Vodafone branding disapeared, but....there are still few minor things that i don't understand. For example, i have Vodafone scene which lists under HTC scenes, which is impossible to delete or every time i open browser, it starts with vodafone.de, which is default link, and again i cannot change.
How is it possible? I mean, i have new updated ROM, so where my Wildfire keep this old Vodafone settings?
Any help or some info will be appreciated.
thanks,
Gil.
It's probably related to the SiM. Try inserting another one, see if it stays the same...
I purchased two alledgedly sim free Wildfires from Voda uk, though minus bloatware, I get a Voda start up screen. I wonder if its possible to interrogate the phones internal memory with My Computer and delete the images... I did this with a few nokias back in the day.

did you reset data and cache when you installed new rom?
I did not reset any data or cache. I never heard of it before, i just flashed new ROM and that's it. Can you explain please what i was supposed to do?
I will try new SIM later, doubt that vodafone scene that is visible under HTC scenes list, are taken from SIM...but who knows. thanks.
I bought my Optimus 7 in the UK, SIM-free, from Expansys. It was shipped from France. MFG tells me my version is LG-E900AT-00-V10a-NLD-XXX-OCT-15-2010
That looks like a Netherlands ROM.
Strangely, the 'Original ROMS' thread, for Netherlands lists a later version:
DZ_LG-E900AT-00-V10b-NLD-XXX-NOV-09-2010+0
So I'm older than 'original'.
Zune doesn't offer any updates (Firmware 1.0.1.12). I'm sure it can tell I'm in the UK so perhaps wont update a 'Dutch' phone?
Does Zune offer firmware updates or only operating system?
I have read nasirahmed's excellent ROM thread, but am uncertain if I should follow that path, or wait (forever?) for Zune.
Getting a WinXP PC with USB 1.1 would be a major pain.
And would I load the NLD V10b ROM, or EUROPE-OPEN, or UK OPEN?
I read there that someone bricked their phone by loading a ROM from a different country.
I'm looking for an update for 2 reasons:
1) the screen response is not great. sometimes (often), I tap a tile. it acknowledges the tap by jiggling but no further response follows.
2) the phone has a tendency to inappropriate landscape mode. this happens most often when I hit the (portrait) home screen tile for Settings. Settings appear in landscape.

Mark (long term software developer but WP7 newbie)
I felt your pain, Mark. I bought an unlocked E900 from Amazon DE and hoped that by using the MFG app I could remove the carrier branding in the hope that Zune would update to UK Firmware.
No such luck.
I ended up re-flashing the phone with original European software which then allows the use of the LG Network Setup app.
Incidentally, this does not fix the problems that you mention, as I still had them on the "NoDo" update. Mango has completely cured the problems you mention, even though it's beta software.
I would recommend considering trying that.
Thanks for your comments. I did re-flash from NLD-XXX to GBR-XXX and that resulted in firmware changing from 1.0.1.12 to 1.0.1.10!
Have looked, but not too hard, for info on obtaining Mango but no luck. I'm an MS Action Pack subscriber rather than the full MSDN and it's not available in my downloads.
I just got my new Xperia Play unlocked brand new from hong kong.. set language to English (australia) but I still have chinese writing where I guess 'Games' is meant to be on the main UI.
Anyways of totally scrubbing the software and flashing a stock English ROM?
I've also noticed a whole bunch of Chinese apps installed and chinese keyboards.
Is there any way I can flash a stock english ROM need help.
Also, the phone has been updated to the latest firmware via the SE PC Suite
Flashing it to the generic uk firmware. You should be able to do it easily since phones from hk is sim unlocked. Do you know if your phone is brand new or second hand? Go to the play development section and look for the uk generic firmware.
Sent from my XPlay using XDA App.
yeah its brand new and SIM unlocked.
if I flash it, am I still going to be able to update it via SE Companion suite when updates are available?
Thanks heaps! I downloaded the latest stock UK ROM and flashed with Flashtool and now its up-to-date and all normal english settings and apps!
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH MATE!!
