Does anyone know how to back up saved game data?
I have searched in the forums. Couldnt find an answer.
I play Zenonia, Caligo Chaser, Dungeon Hunter, SNESoid...
I dont know where the save data is though so everytime I change rom I lose it.
On VBN/MATTC/Froyo right now...
For the emulators they usually make a directory in your root. At least vgba does. I copied that and was fine resuming my games.

Still cant find it.
Zenonia, Caligo Chaser, SNESOID.
I have scoured my root device and storage card directory by directory with HIDDEN and SYSTEM file viewing enabled... I just dont see them...
Yeah, I am pretty lost on them also.
But I seriously need a hex editor for this game.
I would make one, but I just don't want too compile every single item.
Titanium Backup work for me...
I use Titanium Backup to backup my apps and data(game save) on my HD2 android [BUILD] ★ 9.01.2010 ★ HyperDroidv1.1
tibackup can't really do it, I try to transfer saved data game of big business from SGW to SGT but after I restore the data with tibackup, it can't start the game (frezee on first loading), or maybe i did it wrong

I have a few issues with my Fascinate so I will be getting a new one tomorrow. So I have NOVA and Asphalt from Gameloft. I am pretty far along in them and I don't wanna lose my saves when I return them. If I save the Gameloft folder from my SD card and put it on the new one, will that restore my games saves when I re-install the games?
Unfortunately no your saved game data won't save over to the new phone. If you root it you can use titanium backup to save the game and data from your downloaded apps, but then you would have to root the new phone to restore the saved data to the restored apps. Unless your already running froyo, but I'm not sure if it would restore the saved data from the apps.
Sorry to dash your hopes.

Hi there!
I was using shubCraft Build for 2 month now. Sadly shubCraft isnt maintained anymore... so i would like to change to another, new build (maybe with Sense), but i dont want to lose all programs and settings of my current build.
Can i change the Build without losing Settings and Programs? Are maybe these things stored in data.img?
Thx and greetz,
infernalshade
it's pretty hard to keep setting when switching build, because some settings seem to break stuff in other builds. if you want to keep your programs, just use titanium backup and save em. after changing build simply replicate em back. some savegames need to be saved separately from the game files it self. a very prominent example is angry birds. i have changed my build yesterday and rebuild my data.img and my save was gone. today i found what to save you can ask here if you have specific questions about saving specific program settings.
Hm by settings I mean things like messages, contacts, dates and notes... on wm I've used spb backup for this, is there any program for android too?

What did you do to save your progress in angry birds? That game is addicting and how I kill downtime at work! Ready to try a new build but pretty far on the game.

You only had to scroll down about 10 threads from this one for the answer (or search): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813279
Or I could ask here since that it the last statement of the post by Screemi. I didn't realize that it was the same user posting in that thread and was looking to see if there were different solutions that could be used.
Noone knows any good program to backup messages, contacts, dates and notes? I mean such a program like SPB Backup!
myphoneexplorer works like a treat for me. i backup my contacts, massages, etc. withit. don't know if it can backup notes.
Ok Notes are not the Problem, the important thing are contacts, messages, dates and programs
Ok, MyphoneExplorer and Titanium Backup worked fine, thx!
I havent saved my Angry Birds Saves, the newest Version of Titanium Backup is saving it too
Hi again, i have another question left:
Is it possible to update the Version of the SAME build without losing any data?
I'm using MDJ FroYo Sense Clean Build now (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780525). Today a new Version was released, with some fixes i need!
So, is it possible?

Just don't overwrite your data.img file and you should be fine. I'd back up your SD card to be sure you have what you need, but what I do is just update what you need to update: Usually everything in Android folder except the data.img file. If you have saved ringtones or other notifications that are custom, I'd keep the SD\Android\Media folder the same too.
data files almost always work across the same build. Read the change log and the first post because most Chefs let you know if you can't keep your data.img file.

The Nexus S will mount USB storage to your laptop the exact same way that the Nexus 1 does.
You can plug both into USB, mount the storage, then drag and drop what's on your external SD card that you want to copy over from the N1 to the NS. Quick and easy. It's what I did with my NS; and allowed me to hand pick what I wanted to transfer over rather than bring along all the clutter and garbage from my SD card that was left behind from old programs I don't use any more.
Apps and settings are just showing up for some people because of the sync restore option with Google server if you enable it on both devices. Didn't for me, though.
appbrain is a good way to get all your apps over, but it won't get your settings and app data.
If you're N1 is rooted and you're happy rooting the NS then titanium backup is a quick and easy way to move over your apps whilst retaining all the user data. (Rooting both phones is cake and can be fully reversed)
In addition, something like sms backup and restore works nicely for SMS messages.
Any other settings will have to be re-applied manually but contacts etc will sync down no problems.
If you're not rooted then your new apps should sync back from market anyway (you may need to ensure data backup is checked on your N1 - can't remember)
As the chap above mentioned though, the NS internal storage mounts as a USB mass storage device anyway so music/any other data can be copied over easily.
I did it via TITANIUM BACKUP
1 click of a button and everything was there
the only thing i had to copy & paste manually were the MP3 and Videos
having both phones connected via USB (through a PC)
just drag and drop the stuff from one phone to another phone
I did this drag and paste but for some things did not work. For music and pictures it worked well but for an example I have Color Note which I was able to drag over. Color Note is an application that allows you to take notes. After dragging and pasting it I went into my Nexus S and was unable to find Color Note. I also was unable to find Astro. I bought Astro Pro and downloaded that as well. After downloading it I was unable to find Astro Pro on my Nexus S In Market it tells me it is installed and it does so under applications as well when I go to settings and then applications but I can not find it nor open it
for Apps/Games & settings you need to use backup software like Titanium Backup

Titanium's great if rooted. I would be cautious with Titanium, though. Make sure to only restore APPS data/settings. Not sure you want to be restoring SYSTEM settings from one device to another, let alone one version of Android or another. I've seen people report issues restoring settings from just one ROM version to another.
As long as he doesn't restore EVERYTHING then it is safe
just make sure to select ONLY
Restore User Apps & Data
Thanks for your help
Hello to all!!!
Many thanks for your help..
I've already receive the phone and transfered all the stuff
first impressions.....
It's an amazing phone....fast fast and even more faster that the n1....
Thanks
Is there ANY way that when I switch to my new mytouch 4g, I can bring over the Angry Birds saves from my current mytouch slide? I know, it's nuts but I've made it sooo far. It would be really helpful if someone knew how.
doesn't its data get saved on the sdcard?
Well, if it's there I can't find what folder the save's in.
look in /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds or something like that. I dont have it installed.
Using astro, a search for roxio and angry came up with nothing. Still looking around, I guess until I find something.
are ya rooted? if you are grab MyBackup Root from the market, run a back up of apps+apps data, then copy the "rerware" folder from your MT3G-S sd card to your MT4G sd card, then all ya gotta do is root and download MBR to your MT4G and run restore.
edit: nice thing about MBR is you can also backup all your bookmarks, SMS/MMS, call logs and such
Hey, thanks for all the help. I finally found the rovio file but when I put it on my new phone and launched the game, it didn't recognize it at all. It just started from the first level. Can anyone explain why?
Thanks
This method is the best I figured out and it works pretty well!
I discovered the main cause of battery drain on JB is the 'Media Scanner'. I dont know exactly what the issue is, but it DRAINS your battery! I thought it was a corrupt file in my phone that was causing Media scanner to get stuck and scan for loong periods instead of 2 - 3 minutes which it should take regularly. (btw media scanner is launched every time you restart your mobo or make changes to your media files as far as i know). I formatted both my Internal and External SDs but it still didnt help. Now use the following Steps below to solve these issues.
1. Download Media scanner ROOT.
This app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.addz.mediascannerroot
2. Download Media scanner also
This one - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.addz.mediascanner
3. Always set 'Power saving' option on phone on. I can assure you that you'll hardly notice the difference in performance when you turn on power saving.
Having said that, if you want more brightness, you can increase from toggle or just tick auto by the side of brightness level settings right there in your notification bar.
Also, if you need to game or use heavy app that require alot of system resources, just turn off power saving.(Because power saving slows down your processors Maximum state)
How to use the apps mentioned in numbers 1 and 2.
First one is to stop it (Media scanner) from ever scanning. So open that one with ROOT at the end of the name (Grant SU prompt), then hit disable media scanner button wait for it to work. Just one or two seconds.
Sometimes you might open your gallery and notice a file is missing or you might not see even a single picture or vid in it.
ONLY NOW! can you open the second app dat DOESN'T contain ROOT at the end of its name.
Just open it and then hit the back button to close. thats all!
What this does if to call the media scanner you disabled earlier with first app so it can scan your SD Cards and your gallery will display your files.
You can read the application descriptions on Play store for better understanding.
If you notice that these steps still doesn't help you with your battery drain issue, try disabling Motions and Animations in debugging options too. Both in settings. Then test battery again and see how good it works.
IMPORTANT: You also want to change PhilZ recovery Backup format from .dup to .tar as this might be the reason why Media scanner goes crazy. How to - Reboot into recovery, select Backup and restore, then select 'Choose backup format', then hit tar. Now delete all previous backups done in .dup format and then hit 'Free Unused backup Data' or go into phone, delete the folders of the backups done in .dup and then delete evreything in blobs folder. Now do a fresh Nandroid which will now be in .tar format. ( Always Have a Nandroid backup on your phone , it can come in handy! )
REMEMBER: What works for one person, might not exactly work for everyone. Everyone does have 100% same hardware. .So take it easy while throwing your shots at me. I just decided to share this.
I hope this helps some solve their battery issue.
Please hit thanks if this helps you.

Exactly. Even though I don't use things such as maps that often, I like it to be available whenever I want to use it.
Can't really see the point of trying to turn this phone into a dumb phone.

Now you should do a fresh Nandroid which will now be in .tar format. It will complete way faster ( Always Have a Nandroid backup on your phone , it can come in handy! ), And finally, only have one Nandroid on ur phone at a time. If you need more than one, keep the rest on ur pc and most important one on phone.

I want to use the Internet when I want to use it. I don't want my phone going online by itself. That means I use an APN to keep my phone offline until I want to go online. I also use a screen off and lock when I am finished doing what I want. I use the built in Power Saver. The new Advanced Mobile Care also seems to help. I just checked my battery usage and I am at 3 days and 9 hours on an S3 i9300 running a great ROM. I am using Omega v33.2. I tried Omega v35 and went back because of battery life. This ROM appears to be flawless and I have found no glitches at all. Of course I'm a conservative user and don't play any games on the phone.

Stanley, your play store links are not working..Could you give the names of both apps please???
Rescan Media Root and Rescan Media. By same dev. If you using Philz recovery, first delete all nandroid backups made in (.dup format) blobs. Before you try to use above apps.
