Does anyone know if fake or replica ones are now flying around from China (just like iphone)? I found some ebay sellers offering HD2 on a very very low price, but I'm under the impression that they are replicas
If in doubt, don't buy from shady sources. There's a list of official retailers in your country on HTC.com.
Personally, I haven't seen any fakes yet but I guess it's reasonably to assume that there are some out there. btw: The cheap mobile phone offers on eBay are often coupled with a carrier contract, thus the low price.
Just don't do it. There's not that much of a mark-up through official retailers, so unless they're doing you a favour and selling at a loss...
I got burned once, and once was enough when buying a glofiish x800. Never again.
well my budget is limited and i'd really like to get the tmobile version, but they are sold out everywhere in stores and people are marking up the prices on ebay ;(

But if you blow your limited budget on a fake, you won't have anything at all?
yes, i get your point, thanks all for your inputs
can u upload here the image for the fake hd2?
Keep a look out for http://www.dealextreme.com website. They usually have all kind of popular phone knock-offs for a few hundred bucks if you're into those kind of thing.
Hi everyone,
I've noticed many sites including eBay selling Samsung Omnia i900 phones for really low prices...some at about $100 per phone. I find it very difficult to believe that these phones could be sold that low. Are they genuine Samsung phones or are they cheap Chinese clones? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Omnia on eBay
Could you give a few examples?
You might want to look at the seller's rating, etc.
Yes that would help.
Since I can't post links please see item # 290444362182 on ebay.
There is a link to an auction I noticed. The seller has an incredible amount of feedback. I tried sending emails to previous winners of this auction but have had no luck with responses. I'm worried about getting a cheap Chinese clone. Would you know how to check before hand if the phone is real? Sure the auction images and specs are exactly those of Samsung but we can't know for certain until we have the actual phone. Is there a serial number on the phone (usually underneath the battery) that the seller can give me before I purchase?
Thanks

Thanks for the offer but I will most likely be using an iPhone someone is getting rid of. This way I feel safe about where the product is coming from and I really won't be paying much at all for it.
I'm still curious about the Samsung on eBay. I can't believe they are real genuine phones. I'd love to see a serial number or something to get an idea. If they are real I can probably find a bunch of people interested in buying them from me at a great profit. I just don't want to rip anyone off with sh%tty Chinese clones
No SAMSUNG logo above the screen on Swedish retail version as I saw it today in Media Market store in Norrkoping. dealer said package contains MHL converter.
Btw are wich price u found it?

Was this an official outlet? Sounds more likely he's got his hands on prototypes or review models...
I'd stay away from a device without Samsung Branding, as when have you known Samsung not to stick their logo on the phone?
hmm...
If I am not mistaken, the Korean models have no Samsung logo on the front.

Samsung not having a Bright White logo on GS II is strange!! I can not agree more but I made the guy call his boss and ask!! and I made sure that what I saw was retail version with 1.2GHZ CPU.
Now I have more ....
As you know, from one certain date Samsung replaced pictures with ones with logo. from then almost every online store and mobile reviewer changed their pictures too. Recently I realized Telenor and Tele2 (bigest phone companies in sweden) changed back pictures to ones without Samsung logo.
You can chek it yourself.( As I am sure you know! web sites are .se rather than .com or ...)

Nexus S. It has the Samsung in the back cover.
But I don't believe it would come to sweden without Samsung text in front, when it does in Finland.
I have my doubts about this information. I don't doubt the veracity of what you're saying, but of the information you were given.
First, I wouldn't put it past the regional marketing branch of Samsung to hand out some of the former prototype devices to retailers to look at and Media Markt may have mistook it for a display model. Second, the very fact that Samsung doesn't include an MHI adapter cable is strange, especially when they're rare to come by and other manufacturers like Nokia have set the standard (my N8 came with an HDMI cable, USB-to-Go cable, you name it), so I think the local MM manager is just going on logic without really checking things up.
Yesterday I was in an ElGiganten in Stockholm and the whole front of the store was decked out in huge display boards. They expected to be ready for release on May 6, and kind of miffed about having to wait until May 12. Won't they look rediculous when they realize all their expensive marketing material doesn't even look like the device to be sold - with a Samsung logo on it.
I would be very surprised if the hardware versions delivered to the various EU countries have any significant differences (and I prefer the Samsung lable on the front). But then again, stranger things have happened.
The samsung brand is on the back... Strangely like the iPhone?!
And its not just Sweden. If you visit the Samsung page (swedish, finnish, whatever), only the front page and top images have it - the rest in the actual specification/advertisment of the phone doesnt have it. Three UK shows it without the name. Etc and so on.
You're right about the local Samsung page, it's a mixed bag.
The retailer pictures vary, but the OP is right in saying that a surprising number of retailers now or still have the photos without the logo on the front.
If this is true, it makes me worry that there might be other less benign differences from the units that we've seen from the UK, like cheaper camera sensors or the like.
Let's hope that there is no hardware difference in EU. I really hate it when they do that.
The worst case scenario is Samsung having many first production devices that we know as test devices mostly with 1 GHZ CPU and then they realized that they want to go with 1.2 GHZ and the Samsung LOGO and rest is not so hard to guess since CPU speed is just the matter of over clocking old devices and ..... OH just find a cold place in north to get rid of them ))))
I really hope that I am wrong ..... we will know in less than 5 days.
Danish version...
.... seems to be just like the Swedish version - or rather the version i bought.
No logo on front - also no NFC, and only 16 Gb version without memorycard in the box. BUT... also no HDMI-converter. This version actually comes from warehouses in Sweden, where Telia stores it.
But the specs on the phone shows 1,2 Ghz dual-core, and the rest of the specs fully complies with the specs from Samsung on this phone.

This is because usually carriers force their logos on the front. This was partially the reason why iPhone arrived so late in Korea. Apple wouldn't let anyone touch'em.

The Nordic countries always share the same version (at least in my experience of Samsung).
Has it already been released in Denmark???
Could you use Android System Info and see if it looks the same as Swedroid's UK device shown in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt7mdInSWqk&feature=relmfu
At 3:26 it shows some CPU info (although not entirely accurate, it does show the use of the CPU going up to 1.2 GHz).
I Saw CONVERTER WITH MY EYES!!!
People ! I saw the converter that comes with GSII in box in Sweden @ least from Media Market it is a Charger/HDMI converter you use it to charge cell phone or plug HDMI cable. You can see it in the post here for Infuse4G "http://www.phonearena.com/news/Samsung-Infuse-4G-HDMI-out-Adapter-Demonstration_id18667"
So now you can charge and use HDMI @ same time.

Is it the Exynos 1.2?
I have been hunting for an S4 9505, but there are so many fakes, clones, etc. What's the best online store for price that won't sell clones?
Thanks

Are there no physical shops where you can see (if they`re the real thing) and buy phones somewhere near you?

Yeah, there are a few. I'll have to read up on how to spot a fake, because from what I've seen they aren't always easy to spot. I asked a ton of local dealers about the 9505, and most had never heard of it, and confused it with the Active or assumed I wanted the AT&T variant.
I always buy my phones on eBay. Never had a problem yet. S2, S3 32gb, S4 32 gb. You gotta know how to look for the right things.

lol.
I haven't heard or read the last one. All of samsung product is made by samsung, you won't find galaxy note 4 made by apple or sony. x.x
I believe that is their strategies to reduce shipping cost and import taxes in some country..
Later, you will also find made in indonesia because samsung has plan to make their factory in indonesia. But still don't know when that will happened and what they made in the factory, it can be their phone, tablet, tv, home appliances, etc.

I can't tell you for sure, all samsung phone and tablet that comes to my country is made in vietnam, but it should be no difference if they have good quality controls.
But as far as I read here (for note 4 ,correct me if I'm wrong), device made in vietnam have better screen curvature so TG will fit easily, I only bought 1 TG and has no halo since day 1, not like most people over here that already bought many TG.
And I also never have to return my device like few peoples experienced over this forum, so maybe I'm just lucky, or device that made in vietnam has best quality control.
And that is my experience with my old s4, my dad note 3, my note 8.0 tablet, my gf s5, and my note 4. Never had hardware issue until now, and all of them is made in vietnam.
That's just my experience though, need confirmation and experience from people that get product made by samsung factories in other country.
