Windows 6.5 is here - what's new?

If you haven't heard yet the new TD2 WM 6.5 ROM is available: http://htcpedia.com/news/official-topaz-wm6_5-rom-upgrades.html
I like to err on the side of caution with these things but I know some will be wanting to get upgraded asap. So what's new with the ROM especially with TF3D? I know you get weather on the home screen but does TF3d run deeper as with the new Leo/HD2? Also are there any performance issues?

I have downloaded it. Will it work on a T-Mobile Compact V?

i thought that came with 6.5 already, but i think it will but not sure as they are more or less the smae phone spec wise, but i dont know if the internals are configured the same

Ive noticed ive had to make a few changes to my TD2 Tools application for WM 6.5. Here are the changes:
Enlarge Start Menu is now redundant as WM 6.5 uses a full screen Start Menu and in turn, HTC has brought back the Programs Tab in manila and got it working properly.
Most other settings have remained unchanged.

Good to see this unoffcial release of the Offcial ROM .

So what version of Manilla comes in this 'Official' ROM. Do you think this is the final release? Does it feel bug free? I'd love to flash but am chock full until the weekend.....

I like the new WM6.5 today screen, but is there a way to use it and still use the HTC Calendar, HTC Cobtacts appliaction and so on. The Windows apps are just so uggly.

Im thinking of installing this as im running Duttys R6 atm, and its well laggy and its annoying me!
What version of Manila comes with this? And are any apps updated?

Is the memory card safe when you do this update or am I better off removing it?

I didn't remove the memorycard before updating and it worked fine.

Just done, with card out....so far pretty smooth. Even picked up on my Copilot install once i put memory card back in
Now how do I rename my phone......

I think the interface runs a bit slower than the 6.1 ROM. Entering the dialer or an e-mail takes slightly longer (the phone sort of draws the the application to the screen instead of it popping up immediately).
Also, the Sense/Manila slider at the bottom (the tabs/icons) is not as smooth as it used to be.
Do you agree or is it just me?

i dont feel right about the so called "official 6.5 ROM" from HTCPedia, if it is really an official ROM, why up until now there is no 6.5 update from the OFFICIAL HTC Site?
it seems to me that the claimed Official ROM in HTCPedia is just a ploy for everyone to try it and figure out the BUGS themselves(they can just ask for beta testers directly and not like this)....what a shame, then HTC Folks will redo it addressing the bugs/problems being reported from public.
HTC guys are surely monitoring all forum site to get the much needed bugs/problem information from the so called "Official 6.5 ROM".
for me, that so called Official 6.5 ROM from HTCPedia is not final yet but in beta still since most if not all who flashed it complains of some bugs and problems with the psuedo 6.5 Official ROM.

I instantly uninstalled copilot.... Since I use TomTom...
But I need to change my owner name.... Bu cannot find where to do that :-(

Yeah I'm not too impressed either. One example is the memory usage. After a reboot I have 49% RAM available, 30 minutes later I have 28%.
Will dfinately consider a cooked ROM to see if the chefs have managed to speed up the device.

This is strange.... What other apps have you installed??? I have installed my phone yesterday with the WWE 6.5 version... And now still have 67% free RAM. Instead of 51 with the 6.1 stock WWE rom....

I've tried the ROM and I'm sad to say that it falls in the "I've tried that roms already and it didn't work out" pile for me. This ROM has so much potential and I would use it on a daily basis but there's just too much things nagging me.
like why is there a Opera Mini 5 beta, Opera Mobile 10, Internet Explorer, and then the Opera Mobile 9.7 in the ROM in the Internet folder. why so much? Opera Mini doesn't even work. Just make a choice and put only 1 or 2 and save some space...
the HTC messaging client is the onler 2.14 which freezes on incoming sms....pretty annoying
I really like the sense theme though, quite elegant.
the icons in the start menu us quite the contrast to the nice looking homescreen. the icons are too bland....I would say get an icon set that goes along with the theme.
I have no idea what LMT is but it doesn't seem to work.
I don't see why the bing app is included if you already have the bing widget....however the bing app doesn't have any link to it in the start menu or anywhere else....saw it in program files.
again, nice rom, just needs some more work. looking forward to ur updated version

I gave all of them there so people have choice. They almost take up no space. Opera mini works for me. I would like to hear from others if Opera Mini doesn't work. Either way I was thinking of taking it off anyways since it seems to have problems with logins on sites. I really don't like Opera 9.7 but it offers multi-touch support I know others like that. I will try to get it down to two or thee browsers. It's just that they don't take up too much space. I plan incorprating UC So I can install then that way and users can uninstall as they see fit.
Messaging is getting an huge ugrade on the next release.
I am in process of going to using the Firestorm Icon Set with frames soon. Let me know what you guys think.

Bing Widget is going to get deleted. I didn't mean throw it in there. However the Bing app is under the Maps Directory.
Thanks for the feedback guys. Workign to make this an Everyday ROM that will run reliably if you don't like to flash all that often.

...and yes there are two ways to go build a rom (atleast thats my take).
(1) Start with everything build into it and then filter out bad/useless stuff till you get a clean one
(2) Start with barebone and keep adding one or two things in every beta till you get a mature one

I'm using the Huashan 5.0 dialer and Video Telephony packages on my HD2 23128 based ROM to solve the caller id not showing problem. However after receiving a missed call my device hangs. It seems to be at the point when the phone should show the missed call icon in the taskbar and play the alert tone that the hang happens, as neither event occurs though the led begins to flash.
Does anybody know of a fix, or could someone share their confirmed-working ext packages for 5.0 phone canvas and video telephony - just in case I've missed something? All I've been able to find are a few posts saying 'try these, they might work'. And they don't lol.

Have you tried the one from the latest Huashan's test rom? I'm using it now on the 23128 build and it works. The problem probably is in your ext packages.

to me it doesn't hang when answering or rejecting calls.

i have the same problem, i think it's the problem of HD2. seems the huashan dailer works just fine on any other devices except hd2. it's a pretty good stock 6.5.x dailer, you don't need to aply any SYS patches.
hope some guy fix this problem to make it usable on HD2

the only difference was that i used the huashan 0.90 video telephony.

I've reverted to the Leo 3.04 Phone Canvas and 3.04 packages for now, and it works just fine on 23128 except for no called id - using Caller ID Fix has solved this though (it replaces several 23128 SYS files with those from 23569, including cprog.exe)...

i already tried it with the new lockscreen installed. no luck. still freezing.
edit: i can hear the other person when i accept a call but he can't hear me and the phone freezes (soft reset needed).
maybe it's related to audio_manager (not present in hengshan rom).

Yep... found out the same half our ago.... It seemed too simple
I also looked into oem driver... there was no wavedev.dll.... but there was wave.dll....
PS: lockscreen works great too... pin works (23121)

so , seems it's the hd2 audio driver problem, when answering the call , this huashan dailer try to invoke wave.dll to capture and encode the audio,but there's no wave.dll so is this driver to freeze hd2?
then how to fix this problem, port huashan audio driver or just rename wavedev.dll or find something related in the registry and fix it?

that was exactly my thought.
i flashed a rom with wavedev.dll from 2.10 (hotfix for 2.13) renamed to wave.dll.
now i have to receive a call to test. i will report back.
edit: still freezing.
notice:
when a call is coming in and i pick up the phone (where the ringer volume should turn down) the ringtone actually changes to a wm-ringtone if i'm right.
still freezing when i accept the call and the wm-ringer rings till i take out the battery.

I double checked the audio driver and related registry of HD2 and huashan ROM, i think it's not the problem of wave.dll/wavedev.dll , it's just a sound capture driver and in the related registry i found nothing special, just some normal wave format settings. and i looked into the dailer dll, nothing to do with the wave dlls. maybe it's the problem of Video Telephony, HD2 has no front camera, while receiving a call the dailer may check and invoke this Video Telephony which can freeze the phone.
so, the dailer dll or the video telephony dll should be disassambled to see if anything interesting.

Here is the much awaited Evolution-Ultimate but its in Beta! It's because i alone can't decide its perfection. So join me and we will find out together its perfection. Let me know what all i can improve and remember than don't expect all features as its in beta so i might have intensionally removed some.
So the ROM is neat, clean and bugfree. And yes i didn't forgot the battery life, this time its more than that of Evolution 2. If you are a fan and love Evolution 2 then you have a good reason to upgrade to this version which you will ♥ .

I just flashed the ROM, and it's just PERFECT and really FAST
I wonder if i can install Manila 2D in this ROM, i tried to install Manila 2D v. 2.0 but it didn't work, it kept saying "tab here to launch TouchFlo" even after a softreset i got the same result. Once i tab it tries to load then it says tab again, and it happen over n over.
Any help would be appreciated

You are welcome, and yes if you liked Evo2 then this one is something evolved form of that ROM, more fast, more batt life

Most probably you have missed some M2D package, right now i don't have my device to test but you can go to M2D V2.0 Thread and install all the required cabs.

I have been waiting for ths ROM since the day i installed Evo 2.5... What exactly is better? Depending on what is different only will I upgrade.
This doesnt have TouchFLO which i require.
Basically how is this ROM better than EVO 2.5?

As mentioned in the first post,
Expect it to be a hell lot faster than EVO 2.5 and yes batt life will be like this Evo-Ultimate>Evo2>Evo 2.5.

This is really nice ROM amazing great performance and speed Wo0oW it is wonderfull I really loved it I just need to instal Manila on it for touch flo right? and is it better to be on main memory or no matter where it is?
and I have just two problem here (ofcourse except MMS ) first in
start>Settings>Personal>Input when you go to optin part there is no way to come out either ok nor windows bottons work there.
and I can't find task maneger at top of page in today and also other place is this my problem I just can't find it?

No comments on Manila coz i haven't tested it yet.
But taskmanager, you couldn't find it coz its not there
My experience says, for windows mobile 6.5.3 default taskmanager or htc taskmanager = useless.
Install Arkswitch, the best one for Evo-Ultimate. Search the forum for it.

People! It is a very Lite rom. And it is a BETA!
-No Manila.
-No Ezinput.
-Original WM theme and icons. (It is very good)
-Stable only US region. (it is only one little problem for me, because I'm Russian... and I have programs, which are freeware only for russian region... )
(Original task manager you can find in "windows/taskMgr" and then create a shortcut in "windows/Start Menu/Programs")
I love this ROM, because there is only all necessary for work and nothing superfluous.
I can instal only that, what I really need. (PhonEx, SPB keyboard, Arkswitch, Core Player, Resco Explorer/Registry/Photo Manager.)
ROM very fast & stable. Very long battery life... That's all i need.

Hello, this is my attempt on ROM cooking. Being a maximalist, my goals are maximum stability, usability and minimal battery usage.
This ROM should not drain battery, lock up, freeze or slow down. It is designed for the everyday, easy usage for your pleasure!
It has its' own Salvatiion theme (Black and purple) applied to Sense, CHT and a few other apps as well.
If you like it, please post bugs and suggestions, that is your way of saying thank you!

Alarm issues fixed by switching to 24288 base. Also, Extreme edition (CHT 2.0) is uploaded!

google translator ... I will flash this weekend and report findings (Can't do it during week, I have too much dependancy on a stable phone. Just so you know, I have flashed EVERY ROM that has come out for HD2 (Those that work on TMOUS 1024) so I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly.
This looks very nice, I hope it works as well as it looks. Before I flash, I want to know: ANYONE WITH TMOUS 1024 Flashed this baby yet?
If it's truly WWE, and based on 3.14, AND my radio is 2.15.50.14 - I think my odds are good, but I really really really can't brick my phone, so perhaps I will hang tough until some other moron... er, I mean "Brave Soul" does a flash of this onto T-Mobile hardware

Hello,
It is completely based on Stock TMOUS 3.14 ROM and driverbase (the non-TMOUS 3.14 would need SPL 3.03 to work correctly and there is no HSPL version to cover that yet), but I'm not sure what makes it compatible with 1024LEO and I don't have a chance to test it either. Please do not flash until somebody gives me a hint on this compatibility issue or if anyone was foolish enough to try it and can post positive feedback on the subject.
Anyway, sooner or later this 1024-compatibility will be provided by me - one way or another -, be patient until then!
