Hey Guys,
I've installed MattC froyo build on my HD2 which is running energy 28-Aug Windows ROM, but when I launch android I get the error Failed to mount SD card and it stops there...
I've searched numerous threads on this for last 2 days, many users face this problem, but I haven't found any solution for it. I think a sticky on this would be helpful to many.
I've made many changes suggested to startup.txt for fixing the issue, but none are working
What should I doooooooooooooooooo
praiparing sd card
i have the same problem . it doesn't work with extented battery.you have to change your battery with the original of htc.
Dude, i'm using the standard battery only..
What i tried so far..
- Used the other startup.txt that is present as attachment in mattc's thread...doesn't help and phone hangs after first 4 commands..
- Modified "set cmdline "rel_path=Android"" with "set cmdline "rel_path=Android loop_partition=mmcblk0"" in the startup.txt
- Moved everything from Android folder to root
None of them works

Backup everything and re-format your sd card with this world standard formatting software read more here and then re-load your android built and try again... good luck!
ok found a solution...turns out you can't use Macbook's Disk Utility to format the card even though it says FAT32 in format options...
Formatted using Windows Laptop and now its loading Damn Apple , we should mention it in one of the android stickies
In windows 7 happens the same, I formated the the sd card with windows 7 and tried several "Android" build without luck
and, Finally I formated the Sd card with the application above AND IT WORKED thank you....
ZOMG ZOMG ZOMG!!! I SPENT 3 DAYS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY IT DOESN'T MOUNT.
the world standard formatting software REALLY DOES WORK!!!!
1. put your micro sd card into a micro sd reader
2. put it into computer
3. run the program.
4. put micro sd card back onto your phone and
5. LAUNCH ANDROID AS YOU normally would
WOW WOW WOW
I'VE LOST 10 HOURS OF SLEEP OVER THIS... PHOUCH ME!!! FINALLY WOW........
PHEWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Formatting with this util sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/ enabled my microSD card to be mounted in Android FRX04.
Thank you.
Hi all,
Is it safe to unmount and eject my SD-card without switching off my phone, now we're using NAND (and our OS is no longer running from SD)?
I used the search and found many results, but none (yet) for our LEO's running Android from NAND. As unmounting and ejecting with an SD-build caused unpredictable results (even ruined one of my SD-cards, probably), I just want to be sure now I have NAND-build...
Sincerely,
Mac

Is it formatted? You could try to backup the data (if any), reformat it, and try if it sees it then.
Sincerely,
Mac
I'm making this thread here because I can't see anything being done to remedy this problem.
I have tried more than 5 roms that I have used in the past in SD era with MAGLDR 1.12 in the option "AD SD" and none worked. This SHOULD be easy, but it's not.
I have tried to change kernels for the new ones, thinking this would be the right way to do so, since the old ones expected haret and windows to work. This didn't work too.
To name a few...
NexusHD2-FRG83D V1.8 from Tytung (the best in the old days for a clean froyo, IMHO)
MDJ Desire HD 4.6
Topia HD and others...
None of them worked, the ONLY ONE that worked was [DL DesireZ v2.1][SD/NAND] (note, not tested version 2.2, ONLY 2.1)
It took a looong time to boot, but worked fine.
Now that we have WP7 (not everyone will want this permanently) we should have SD roms that are compatible with MAGLDR. Even because MAGLDR is way faster than waiting for WM 6.5 to boot.
I loved WM 6.5 in the days, but now, several of us don't want to deal with it anymore, and are just here for the two new OSs.
I would like to see some development in the SD ROMs again, so they can have newer and better kernels (the ones used with MAGLDR) and full compatibility with future development for MAGLDR and NAND.
We could even have two Android builds, for those who don't want WP7.
One for NAND and one for SD, like a Gingerbread and a stabler Froyo
Anyone agree with it?
Greetings, Santroph.

Problem:
Phone7 formats the sd card in an unknown file format.
That makes it presumably impossible to linux to load from there...
You would have to switch sd card
I agree with the suggestion of having dual boot (WP7/Android), in fact I even thought about it yesterday ...
What about having 3 partitions on SD ? 2 for WP7 and 1 for Android ...

Yeah I know about this, but several of us, myself included have several SD cards.
I can pass for the trouble of changing SD cards from time to time to boot a completly different OS, with several other possibilities.
And I was talking about Android NAND / Android SD combinations as well.
Like I said we could have a Gingerbread experimental in nand, but keep a really stable Froyo in SD as our main build, or the other way around, a lot of us have big enough cards to do that.
Santroph.
I'm tested lot android SD too.
PSfreedom worked only but if the DL DesireZ v2.1 is working..what's the problem?

The problem is that we only have a few SD roms working. And for example DL DesireZ v2.1 works, but DL DesireZ v2.2, which is newer and just lauched, doesn't work, the support is gone
And we don't have as much roms as we had to choose in the past. I am trying to use WP7, to see if it is a viable alternative to my daily use, but I don't want to give up Android. Since we can't have WP7 and AD Nand at the same time, SD is the only alternative, and we have to get whatever is working instead of a lot of good builds like we have in Nand now.
If the devs start to make more sd builds closer to the Nand ones (same kernels and modules, which they can do now, since they will all be using the same hardware startup MAGLDR) we would have a lot of alternatives too.
Like I said, one of the best roms we ever had, tytung NexusHD2 froyo, doesn't work.
Santroph.
P.S: I'm willing to help any dev that need help. I'm a developer too, but a software one, not a cooker
I'm not a dev but I try to get it ...I took 4GB sd and booted wp7, connect sd via usb reader to pc, copied the wp7 filesystem to my 16gb sd card...wp7 says I got 3.5GB disk space ^^...means: wp7 uses 3.5GB, 11,5GB free sd space . formatted other partition as fat32, but windows7 didn't find it. Now I'm trying around to get it working ...will post news
EDIT: WP7 got 3.5GB disk space, now booting MDJ Froyo HD 4.6 from sd card ...So I got WP7/ Android dualboot

I succeed to flash WP7 rom without SD card inserted. Inserting back the SD card after installation shows that SD storge with full size(not under WP7) and SD android rom (DL DesireZ v2.1) works fine with MAGLDR 1.12. Booting WP7 again will not destroy it, too. This may be a temporary method, while the free space left in WP7 becomes around 130MB which may not satisfy many demands .
was the WM7 functional?
http://www.darkforcesteam.com.cn/thread-25910-1-1.html
I'm going to attempt those steps tomorrow, but I don't know if I'll be following them properly as the translation isn't too good.
But maybe someone else can understand it and translate it properly

in WP7 installation steps it is mentioned that if you remove the sd card the windows will be destroyed? can you please confirm that after trying android and going back to WP7 there are no issues?
I agree... we need more devs developing for sd android again.

This could be the best way to do things...
Can you please make a kind of Tutorial?
I understood what you said, and I can probably replicate it (surely will try) but some people would be really glad to have a tutorial.
I have a single problem with your approach, my biggest card, the 16gb one, was the one used for WP7, so I will have to reformat, and since I already got my WP7 working with marketplace and activated, I don't want to mess with it.
If I only had used the 8gb or 2gb card, I would be able to do it....
Santroph.
The best way to know how to do this, would be to have a HD2 that has not a fully working copy of WP7, so we can test it as much as we can.
The biggest problem for me now, is that I don't have how to make a backup of my WP7 installation, or else I would do it and make a tutorial on how to use the dual boot.
Even with the option of using only one card, the SD rom version must be compatible, which in the present time, they are not (most of them).
Santroph.
i've readed all of thread.. but yet i don't understand if it works or not.. especially with ike2903 tutorial to format SD card method...

the pc actually read the WP7 parition (or recognized that one existed)?
For some reason I cannot transfer data to the SD card while in Android.
I've tried updating the USB drivers and trying different USB ports.
I've tried a different SD card. I've even formatted the SD card entirely.
The problem persists.
I am at a lost.
I'm running AmeriCanDroid 072211 build.
Has anyone else experienced this and could help?
...after copying to sd the files appear only after restart?
This is a problem with your rom you are using..the newer roms shouldn't have this problem.
You could try dual mount
Sd widget or multi mount sd widget...maybe this solves the problem too.
Edit: just saw that you use a sd rom...don't know if this is fixed on sd builds
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
The files will only sometimes appear after a restart.
On occasion they appear, but they aren't readable but most of the time they don't even show up.
...as already mentioned i got these problems in older nand builds.
But this was fixed some time ago.
Pls try this-> perhaps its a workaround for your issue:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rafoid.multimountsdcard.widget.free
..just looked into the sd roms section, seems that you are using one of the newest sd roms...so this seems not be fixed on sd builds!?
Why not trying a nand build? ..I will promise, that you won't regret it =)
