Hi all
Just got the Galaxy S4 4G+ (i9505), and compared to my SGS III LTE (i9305), the automatic screen brightness setting makes the screen very dim, even when brightness compensation is set to +5. I know I can always override the automatic setting, and use apps like Lux, but I would like to stick to the original automatic setting, as its handy.
So my question is, is this a "feature" or a fault only affecting on my device? I have checked that the ambient light sensor seems to be getting similar lux's as my SGS III. Newest official Android 4.3 installed.
Attached is for reference a picture where both phones are set to automatic brightness with no compensation. Ambient day light indoors.
Anybody?
i like the dim screen feature and annoyed that you cant control it when you want it on or off, is there is mod to enable user control over this feature?
i am rooted with x-note rom
I recently posted a similar question on the CyanogenMod forum [1]:
I have been using the same installation of CyanogenMod 11 on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (variant for Canada AKA SM-N900W8 AKA hltecan) since I received my Galaxy Note 3 in 2015 May. I have configured CyanogenMod so that the display stays on while the computer is powered by the USB cable. (While the computer is powered by the battery and the battery is discharging, the display turns off after 1 minute of inactivity.) My problem is that I cannot find a way to disable the automatic dimming of the display while the computer is powered by the USB cable. My workaround is to touch the display after the display has automatically dimmed. However, this workaround does not work well when the computer is mounted on the windshield of my car and I am trying to watch a street map to follow a planned driving route. The automatic dimming makes the display too dim for me to read while I am driving. I have searched the Web, including this forum, but have not found a solution. I found a suggestion [1] to use the “Power Control” widget on the home screen but using that widget to change the display brightness does not disable the automatic dimming for me. I am using the build of CyanogenMod from “cm-11-20141112-SNAPSHOT-M12-hlte.zip”.
