u using wifi? with a 381 latency, there is no way u are on 3G or HSPA+ unless u are on wifi.
If you are on 3G, then how did you get the rom to do ppp or what ril are u using? Please share with us....

No I don't have Wifi enabled; or GPS or BlueTooth.
I should say that almost everywhere I browse on the web, I see the little H sign when data is being transfered. My phone is pretty new and Mattc's build is awesome!
I followed The Definitve Guide To Android On HTC HD2 post for my Android install.
My Config
ChuckyROM GTX + CHT 1.8.5 - 23128 ~ 2.10.1
Radio 2.10.50.26
HSPL3
SetCPU as per the Save battery while running ANY Android build on your HD2 post.
TaskKiller reports between 150 & 200 megs with the 1.5 build!! Really happy about that!
Stock 16 gig class 2 MicroSD
I don't have anything installed on my WinMo Rom; not even a boot loader. I manually run Android after Windows boots.
Last thing I will say is. I live in Austin TX and have always had really good data speeds with this phone and both versions of the Tmobile Dash I owned.
Hope this helps

I just can't figure out how you get more than 50-80kbs up? I also live where HSPA+ is and can get good speeds in WM, but not yet in Android on my HD2 since the DEVs have only been using rnmet to get data and mms to work. They are working on ppp which should give the same speeds as WM. I will have to see what Matt is doing in his roms... Thanks.

im getting pretty much the same speeds that are in my sig now, every now and then i get 4+mbs.

Something is fishy with that result.
1) 381ms latency?
and
2) HD2 is listed at 7.2Mbps...how could you get more than that?

Not sure what to tell you. it might be a location thing. I would like to see someone else from Austin TX results. I just ran another test. See below. If anything; My3GSpeed.com

I think I know the reason. You're going through Tmobile's proxy.

mine is:

In south Fort Worth I acheived 20 mbps down and over about 1.5 mbps up. I see the other guy in DFW gets high uploads as well. Must be a Texas thing!

I think it's because you are physically in Seattle, WA; T-Mobile ip-address is in WA, when I do a "speedtest.com" their servers automatically locate me there.

if you note, the server i was testing agenst was in denver...

There seems to be a huge difference between my3gspeed.com and the speedtest app.
On my3gspeed.com I get up to 22.9 mps and always ove 10 mps.
But on speedtest app, I get between 3 mps and 5 mps.
???

I think it was explained somewhere else as to the way the "speed testers" operate/acquire their results; it's even been said that there is no "real" results. Of course, it all depends on where you live, etc.

you guys are posting some crazy numbers here. I have never had more than 1.9 down and 1.8 up. I live in Tacoma Washington wich is 30 miles from Seattle. I have H instead of 3g all day. So can someone post your APN settings and can we see some pictures of these results instead of you typing saying what the results are how bout a snap shot of the results screen from speedtest.net app.

If you rooted and 4G works, please post your system information here.

There seems to be a big issue regarding rooting and 4G connectivity afterward. From browsing the threads it seems like half of the people have no problem, while everyone else can connect to 4G but not transfer any data. This might be an issue of hardware builds, so I'm sure a lot of us would be interested in this. Thanks!
The model number is located on the bootloader.
(apologies if this is the wrong section, but i think it applies here).
Update:
Everyone's models and ROM/Radio versions all look to be the same. There is also a confirmation of someone who applied the OTA update before rooting and didn't encounter problems with 4G.
Update 2:
p-slim posted this and it's working for us who are having issues with flipz ROM.
p-slim said:
this rom has 4g working for everyone using it. like flipz said if 4g isn't working then its something with the settings.

I'm not excluding this as being location based yet... although Wimax hardware seems the more likely culprit.
Is there anyone from DC rooted with 4G access? I've seen posts from two others in DC (like me) who have rooted and now have no 4G access. If someone here does, then we can rule this out.
Cant find model number (where is it located).
Stock first, did HTC OTA update on the way home from sprint store
Used Toasts Root
Wiped then Used Flips ROM
Used Flipz Rom Update
Flashed Flipz Updated Radio
4G worked at all stages, but the new radio flash and rom update did a major improvement for me. Sitting in the same spot average 4g went from 200 ms ping and 900/850 kbps up/down. Now same spot getting 112 ms ping, 2900/1700 kbps up/down. Major improvement (finally makes it worth turning 4g on).
Oh and this is in Midtown Atlanta

very possible that it is location based. clear uses completely different hardware for the actual towers in some markets. i cannot confirm if dc is different from chicago/atlanta, but im rooted and i get 4g in chicago.

The fact the the userdebug from Toast works for everyone means that something is happening with the other rooted roms.
Something IS changing in the roms themselves or something is being deleted from the phone when we flash those roms causing it to work in some markets or on some hardware.
The fact the the userdebug ROM and the stock ROM unrooted or rooted with revoked is working for everyone means that it is possible to achieve one rooted rom that will work for everyone.
I have a pretty good feeling that once we flash flip's rooted rom or any other rooted rom something is getting deleted from the device causing some of us to lose 4G. the question is what.
What are the changes that are being done to the rooted rom system files?
Also, when we WIPE, maybe it is deleting something from our device that we actually need to get 4G and that something is not being flashed back when we flash the rooted rom?
1. Stock
2. OTA in Sprint store on launch day
3. unrEVOked
4. downgraded to Stock .1 via the RUU
5. Rooted via Toast's method
6. Flashed Flipz .1

8. Techknowfile's PRL
9. 4G working and blazing.
PS: I'm in Syracuse, NY which is still on the Summer 2010 pending list AFAIK but my office just so happens to be next to a "pilot" cell, mentioned by the very friendly Sprint employee who sold me the phone.

OTA before rooting here as well and I have 4G in KC and have throughout all Flipz' roots. Not to confuse even more, but I'm on Hardware Version 0003 - it looks like almost all of you are 0002. Got mine at Sprint store - BB/RS for the rest of you?
Those of you that are having trouble with 4g, have you tried updating your profile? That would be a good place to start.
@clubtech
You use the fact that it works for some but not others to blame the rom, but I use that fact to prove that it's NOT the rom. The rom is 100% the same for everyone by the nature of how it works. Your phone, your location, your profile, your account settings, etc... those are not the same for everyone.
My two cents.

Anyone else having horrible 3g download speeds?

Recently i have been getting download speeds of about 13-70kb/s. My upload is fine averaging 800kb/s. This all is really odd since i live in a city and usually get around 1500kb down. I have the 60668 prl and the most recent radio. Im running baked snacks with his 2nd fps fix kernel. I dont see where the problem could be. Please help me out thanks
my old Touch Pro brick would average 120KB/s on 3G (STABLE), and now my Evo is barely doing 5KB/s to 10KB/s (VERY UNSTABLE). those 5 to 10 were what I was getting with 1x with Touch Pro. conslusion = Evo has no EVDO? lol, i know it does but the numbers do make you think. i mean, 5KB/s is friggin 1990's DIAL-UP!
There is something jacked with the Evo radios...
I had Sprint reactivate my Touch Pro 2 and using the exact same Home Agent I got 1600kbps last night on the exact same tower that my Evo got 700 off of.
I have never seen my Evo pass 1Mbps... it hits 950 tops. My Touch Pro 2 will pull up to 2.4 - I've seen it myself.
Oh and the upload on the TP2 was 380 compared to 190 on my Evo.
Something is definitely up...
At first I used to get good speeds... and now ive tried 2 dif radios and like you said, its ****ing dialup!! i tried to look in my dialer codes to change some stuff around but they wouldnt even work. this suuucks. I'm in the middle of the sf bay area which needs to get 4g soon and 3g should be fixed... I don't understand haha
when doing wired tethering on Touch Pro, i used the HTC USB Modem driver and simply set up a dialup connection in windows through that modem to #777. one trick i found that maximized the speeds was setting maximum bps to 921600bps (900Kbps) in modem configuration. this way i was pulling very stable 110KB/s downloads with very small latencies...
is there such thing for Android that would allow me to use HTC as a modem? not internet sharing, usb nic, but usb MODEM?
I did some tething tests last night, and started out with real downloads at 60k a second. Over time going up to near 300 and stabalizing around 150 when i stopped.

From what I've heard/read, it's not the radio itself, but it seems to have to do with the PRI (note: not PRL)... most fully rooted phones end up with 1.34 instead of 1.40 and as of yet no one seems to know how to get it back to 1.40 (other than flashing w/ an official RUU, which un-roots you, and from what I've seen even that doesn't always work)... I personally have not seen any difference in my 3G speeds in my area... my guess is, that just like a PRL, your performance will differ based on your coverage area...

ANYONE that went to the engineering build (read: NAND unlocked) is stuck on the 1.34 PRI until it gets updated or someone patches it somehow.
I'm still in the "it doesn't make a difference and this is all placebo" camp though.
I'm consistently getting between 1.5-2.2mb download speeds with 3g and I'm fully rooted.

very slow 3G/HSDPA data connection with all builds :(

Can anyone confirm if they have a rock solid 3G/HSDPA data connection with HKCSL 1010 with any android builds? Please post APNs and radio/wm ROM/combinations if possible. It is nowhere near the speeds from my WM ROM from before but I just love the Android OS so much more as it's smoother and faster than any custom WM ROM's available. It runs great if it's on WI-FI, i just can't pay for my data connection and settle for a nice OS and almost 500Kbps data connection for now it's very frustrating and dissapointing since i'm in HKCSL 1010 NEXT G data plan..

Thanks for the replies guys but what do u mean true hsdpa? We are on a 3.5G network and also I see some other fellow users having 3g speeds of 3-5mbps which is super fast already. I have tried almost every rom out there and different barebone WM ROM as well but made no difference. Speeds are like GPRS slow! Tried PPP and RMNET but can't even tell a difference...sad as I can't use it with full potential.

Those numbers aren't exactly true as the browsing is slow as hell. I don't know how speedtest.net do it but it sure hell ain't that fast as it seems like it's constipated.
Most I get on every build I've tried is rough 0.33mbs connection, I've hit nothing over 45kb/s yet seem to be able to upload at over 70, that's on T-MOB UK, pain in the arse but I just try and stick to wifi, nothing I can figure out after swapping so many roms/radios/builds/modules etc etc etc!!!!
try out bangsters 1.4 (the latest i think) and edit the startup to PPP, used chuckyrom and 2.12 radio and seems like it's working pretty good. Not much constipation at all. Try it out and let me know. I only had wifi so couldn't check 3G speeds before (here in HK for trip now).
i am using darkstones desire hd build on o2 in the uk and currently get roughly 2meg down when connected to hsdpa

Lei ho..
Please try my setup via my tag, I'm getting 2.3Mbit for download and 700kb for upstream..
BladeZ
Since moving to Android on HD2 from the myTouch Slide, my data speeds have oddly evened out.
Meaning, data speeds have increased in places I used to only get EDGE coverage at and decreased to about 2mbps where I used to get 4-5.
I just hopped on to this part of XDA but I've gathered that Android development has only been happening for about three months. That's nothing! Look at all the cool stuff people have done! I think it's only a matter of time before the radios and builds start jiving a bit better. I'm ultra happy with what I've got so far.

hi BladeZ, lei ho ah! Thanks for the advice. Just wondering if you are in HK and using the provider as me?

My speedtest results are good (~450-500 kB/sec down, 150 kB up) on 3g, but when I use the market, the speeds are much slower. Same with wifi: speedtest reports excellent results, but using market is slow.
Hi I just flashed back to a dutty's WM rom and the browsing speed is much more faster and consistant. The rom is fast but opera just isn't smooth at scrolling and the windows limitation of colors isn't as smooth either. There are always some good and bad for the 2. I miss android already...but until there is a fix for consistent 3G and hsdpa connection, it is not ready for primetime yet...just my personal opinion.

I'd have to agree unfortunately. Android's biggest weakness in my eyes is it's reliance on online connectivity. Nearly every app on Android needs to go online. So when the online connection is intermittent and unstable it makes Android virtually defunct.
for all the fellas having Data being slow....read on!
GUYS!!! been fiddling with this $hit long enough! Today, just found out why my provider and 3G speeds are so damn slow. I read up on other forums (not xda) and played with APN settings. Don't know if they were case sensitive or not, or whatever..but i simply put in my provider name "CSL", and APN as "internet" and leave EVERYTHING ELSE blank, i get a screaming fast connection. NO HICCUPS NO CONSTIPATION. TRY IT!!! Don't input all those garbage numbers as it just confuses you! ONE thing though, you will not be able to access WAP I believe but i don't use it anyways. I have a LIMITED data plan and all this testing been taking up my 500MB quota already so I won't even bother with the speedtest process anymore. GOOD LUCK and please report back guys!
I m getting speeds upto 2.6 mbps download and upload 500 kbps with desire hd rom..2.14 radio..energy Rom in winmo..

Try surfing to secure sites...that speedtest doesn't mean much if your provider restricts you from certain secure sites. Let me know.

Simple Mobile Data Connection

Ok I have my HD2 with MAGLDR 1.11, radio 2.15.50.xx, and I'm currently running RafDroid 2.1 Android with Simple Mobile. My download and upload speeds a couple days ago were great DL being around 4Mbps and UL being around 1.5 Mbps. But since yesterday my DL has been around 0.10Mbps and UL around 0.20 Mbps. I don't get why its this slow and I definitely don't know why my upload speed is faster than my download speed. If anyone using Simple Mobile could look in your build.prop and share with me what your settings are for DNS n such I would greatly appreciate it. Or anyone that has input please help I'd really appreciate it.

It's in the right place for one thing. Please read the forum rules.

Faster 3G Data speed +50% (editing Build.prop)

As stated in this thread (0 credit to me) for the inspire 4G:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982082
Editing the following build.prop values will increase the data speed:
ro.ril.gprsclass=12
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=14
ro.ril.hsupa.category=7
ro.ril.hsxpa=3
Reboot twice.
Could be only coincidental but I went from D1.4MB/U1mb up to 3.8/1.7 MB up In the same place I always test.
If you try this don't forget to backup (device might not boot/loose connectivity) and write down the original values (I didn't haha), and don't forget also to post your experience. thanks
I'm using Typhoon CM7 2.5.4
Thanks Rob... This is really awesome... Worked great for me.. I went form around 1.5DL to 3.5DL
will this work for the hd2 or is it only for the inspire 4g?

Seems to work on my Tmo HD2, I'm running CM7.
yea i attempted this.... dkno how much of a difference it made for me, but before i did this i was averaging 2mbps downloads speed and uploading i was averaging 600 to 800kbps ..very consistently
after, im averaging from 1.6mbps upwards to 3.8mbps so it did something i guess but its not very consistent from what ive been seeing on my phone.. but ive only tested it for an hr or so...ill keep testing it for another day or two, go back to my original setup and see if it was a big difference or not.
let me know how it goes with anybody else that has attempted this
Great informations for a newb like me. Thanks
So how do we get to the point to change these values?

use root explorer and open up build.prop in /system/
okay so i was taking a look on the link for inspire 4g post 3 and the guy provides great info -links- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11884971&postcount=3
Should we adjust the values for our non hspda+ device? the values oy 1st post(inspire 4g) did the trick for me. but probably we should adjust them to our hd2

Confirm improvement on HD2 CoreDroid DHD V1.5
Having now D3.5 U1.4
no good for me
I've lost the GPRS data connection after mod. And I need it cos in area where i live is not a good 3G/HSDPA coverage so most of the time I'm on GPRS.
So moding back to the original settings
thnx

HD2 class should dictate the build prop config. Speed tests have far too many variables to be reliable.
Gprs 12
Hspda 8
Hsupa 5
Hsxpa 2
Don't shoot me if I got the abbrevs wrong.
I get 3-4mb down 1.2-1.6 up connecting to servers 4000 miles away.

Confirmed as working. On NexusHD2, I had to add the HSPDA and HSUPA lines, but all works as advertised after rebooting.
NOT WORKING FOR MY HD 2.
GPRS - 12
HSUPA - 10
HSDPA - 10
HSXPA - 2
That's my setting. The 12/8/5/2 or 12/14/7/3 just dont work for me and I've actually gotten worse data speed. I think it's location/cell tower/carrier dependent, so it might not yield the best result for all.
