Having another device and cable to carry around works, but is a pain...
my battery easily lasts a day. I can get through a full 9 hour day of work and still have 78% battery left. Not to mention I left my phone off the charger last night, got up 10 hours later and the battery only went down 3%
You sure you dont have any programs open? Also I don't use a task manager if that means anything to u

I bought this, it took about 2 weeks to get to me,(but for 12.99 for 2 batteries and a wall charger) as it was coming from hongkong, but got it yesterday, and its great, 2 extra batteries, and a wall charger so now i dont even need to charge my phone, i let the battery die so i can train them right, and just pop in a fully charged one when needed. the charger even has a usb hookup like the original wall charger that came with it, so really you could charge an extra battery, plus the one in the phone through the usb cable. The batteries are the same as the stock one that came with the phone. I wish i would have done this with my G1, instead of spending 90 bucks on 1 extra battery that didnt even have an external charger.

That would work, but I use the phone most of the day. It is not idle.
I take my phone off the charger at 5am @ 100%
Text most of the day at work with a 30 minute phone call at lunch...
Some moderate browsing and gaming...
I get home around 530pm, and "usually" have around 40%...

They are Samsung batteries, they look exactly like the one that came with my phone( down to the details written on the battery, only different thing is the date which was from 6/10 where the one with my phone was 7/10 and the s/n number), so I would say yes it is the same quality.

i bought the same set of batteries and charger. i'm still going through the charging/cycling phases with these new batteries. i'm not sure if they are on par with the stock batteries but i'll soon find out after a few more charges.
I am still doing that also, but I have to say that the wall charger is worth the money so even if the batteries don't work out, at least I have this awesome dual wall charger!

haha yeah i was about to say the same thing. charges pretty fast and has a cool blue and red-pink colored charger indicator
so far. the batteries are not on par with the stock battery. i work eight hours shifts. my battery runs down to 35-40 pct with moderate usage i.e. facebook, youtube, casual browsing by the time i leave work.
these ebay batteries drain all the way down to 5 pct by the time i leave work and on the eigth hour. i'm on my third charge cycle. hopefully i'll see some improvement this week.
here's what i have running in the background on my phone at work the whole day:
aquarium live wallpaper
facebook widget
twitter widget
beautiful widgets clock
engadget widget
tikl push to talk app.
each widget is set to update every two hours

I got the same type of deal on ebay, 2 batteries & the charger (did the same thing with my MT3G as well), it's always nice having extra batteries, and I can use the charger when I'm traveling (it will also charge up my PSP). Now just need to get a mini to micro USB adapter and I have one less cable to carry around for charging - although I recently got an external drive for data storage, so I guess I will need a second cable if I want to tether my phone and use the external drive.
The batteries are not as good as stock and one seems to hold a charge better than the other (have to mark them so I remember which is which - these are generic one without the Samsung label), but as I train them via charge, use until dead, swap, charge, this should at least max them out a bit. The ones I had for my MT3G actually outperformed the original battery that came with so was hoping for the same. But considering how cheap these are, I could even pick up a couple more.

Those batteries from Hong Kong are not an original Samsung battery, they are just compatibles.
The lasting power of a li-on battery depends not just on the mAh, also the circuit inside the battery counts much of it.
The circuit takes care of the special sleep modes and energy saving features of a battery.
Samsung has its own energy saving codes that can not be put into a common compatible batteries.
This is why an original one is much more expensive than a compatible ones.
Extended battery for the vibrant, lasts twice as long and great door
Check this out: Moretalktime's feedback is 100% and the door is soft rubberized--better than stock IMO. It cradles well in your hand in a very comfortable position and lasts over twice as long.

Re: Batteries not lasting all day
I'd like to throw in an observation on this thread. My battery life is quite good on my Vibrant. Lasts all day easily but there are a couple of things to take notice of. First, I do not use any task killers or such, but I do check if there are any running programs with the built in task manager and stop them once I'm through with them. I've found that Voice Search and Web Access continue to run even after I've closed or backed out of them. Thus the need for use of task manager. But here's what I really found out. I've always charged my phone using the wall adapter with USB cable plugged into it. Never had a problem with battery life. Then for some reason, I decided to start using the USB cable attached to my computer. It would charge as normal and each morning it showed 100% charged. But after about 1 week of using the USB cable from the PC to charge the phone, I started having the horrible battery issues that I've read about. Extremely fast discharge. Leave at 8am and have like 50% use at noon. Crazy. So I started using the wall charger again and the phone has returned to its original state, easily lasting all day. Just a heads up for some of you guys having battery problems. No idea why this has happened but I've confirmed it. Maybe the Power Management thing on the USB ports on the PC?
I just saw this thread after a search on Google. I already posted elsewhere, but this looks like it might be the battery some of you are looking for.

If nothing else, they also sell a 1600mAh battery which is 100mAh larger than the stock battery and still fits unter the stock cover. Good Luck

I was wondering if everybody drains the battery to 0% before charging their HD2. I have done this the first 5 times or so now but am thinking that it isn't a big deal at this point?
What does everybody think?
I like to drain all of my devices before charging them. With my phones, I always let them drain until they won' t turn back on when I first get them for the first few charges, but that's it... I think you are good. Plus you can always buy a spare battery if it stops holding a charge. The HD2 over Iphone advantage!
Yeah that sounds like how I usually run my batteries ... I will drain them 100% the first handful of times. Then after that I just charge at night when it is lower.
I have been looking at the larger capacity battery with the kickstand. Might buy that as a spare. Does anybody have the external wall charger for this phone ... I saw it on a few websites. I wonder if it works with the larger battery too? Would be nice if you could charge outside the phone with a second one.
the drain/charge cycle was for nickle MH- batteries.
It's no longer necessary for Lithium ion batteries, cos they dont suffer from charge memory effect.. or at least thats what the science says.

I agree.
But there's no harm doing it the old way. I've let my battery die completely before I plug in the charger. I think I've done it 6 times in the last 7 days that I've owned the phone.

oh absolutely, i still try run it a good way down now and again, , old habits and that.
That's right... For some stupid reason, our phones don't detect when the battery is ACTUALLY full. Getting annoyed with the having to charge my phone twice a day, I stuck my battery in my old Touch Pro 2 (left it powered off) and plugged it in... It took about 5 hours for it to fully charge and I let it sit for another hour.
I took it off the charger at 11AM... It is now 11PM and I'm at 68% and I've been doing more browsing and downloading than usual. Previously, I would have hit 20% by now and had to plug in the charger.
Once you charge the battery in this manner once, it should be fine from there because the cells have been fully charged for the first time. As long as you don't drain the device completely, you shouldn't run into battery issues.
Ordered a multi-function battery charge and two aftermarket TP2 "1500mAh" batteries from eBay, all for $11, hopefully they're good
I've been pounding the hell out of this thing today... I've racked up 8 hours of "active" usage... so actually I've used my phone more than normal.
The first clue for me was the fact that my battery didn't drop from 100% to 90% in five minutes like it was before... It would usually drop to 80 within an hour, even on standby...
It was at 92% when I got to work at noon.
Unreal, I never thought I would search ebay for a phone with a BAD esn
What I think is unreal is that our 2010 devices can't do something other devices have been able to do since 2006... AT LEAST 2006...
I'm running fresh .3 and I've had the phone unplugged for 1d 0h 15m and still have 30% left... so I don't have an issue with the battery at all.

I have two of these chargers and 4 batteries. I keep two at work and two at home.
These chargers top the battery completely off. I can take a battery that is "fully charged" in the phone and put it in the charger and it will still need 20-30 minutes of charging. The batteries off the charger will stay at 100% for up to 20 minutes, the ones charged in the phone plunge within 1 minute for me.
I really hope this issue can be fixed with a software update. Charging once a day is one thing, but having to take the cover off, battery out and reboot every morning is not acceptable. Not to mention that I rely on my phone while it is charging for emergency calls.

AFAIK it affects all HTC Android devices. HTC is lazy. Anyway I even put my old TP battery which hasn't been charged for at least 6 months in and charged it with the TP. It appears the first 5% is dead but it is still kicking ass and taking names over the charge I get from the evo.

Your battery was probably charged to capacity before they sold you the phone. Once a lithium ion battery has been charged to 100% it maintains its charge unless you screw it up by running it down to empty a few times. The problem is that for whatever reason HTC didn't see fit to charge all batteries to their max first even full well knowing that they won't get conditioned properly by the phone.

I did too, but think mine is defective. The batteries are pretty good for backup purposes and do their job. My wall charger sucked though. I had a Droid Eris hooked up via USB and a battery on the charger. After about an hour and a half, the Eris charged fine, but the battery was like at 30%.
Now the deal breaker is when I got home. I tried to charge a battery and my EVO via USB. When ever I hooked up the USB my phone litterally lagged almost would freeze to a point. I removed the USB cable and phone worked fine. So in all my charger sucked and can charge the battery but really slow.
I ended up just charging the batteries with the OEM charger and EVO turned off.

Yes, but an HTC Windows Mobile device, not Android.
I think OP is talking about the TP2 OEM battery, not some knock off that you buy off ebay. FYI there are tons of battery for TP2, so it would have been better if the OP can tell us exactly which one he got. Check out batteryboss for comparsion:

Could there potentially be a software fix to make the evo handle battery management better, like the tp2?

Actually i was talking about putting your evo battery IN a touch pro 2 in order to charge all the cells.
So this is the reason why the EVO appears to be charging its battery so fast. I plugged it in, and it takes less than an hour to start beeping "I'm full."
......Because it's not really full.
That would explain why I was about to sleep, the EVO was charged, and I got an email, so it kept beeping every 10 minutes or so. which was annoying. I had to unplug it so I could sleep. I slept only 7 hours, and I heard the phone on the little table beeping again like crazy in the morning. I checked what it wanted, and it was the super warning that the battery was about to die.
No use at all in 7 hours, and the battery went from "fully" charged to almost ZERO.
I was almost crying of laughter. I just thought what a piece of junk. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Now, let's watch the soccer game, let's see how the USA does.
Hello folks, I am very concerned with my HTC HD2 as it takes like over 4 hours to fully recharge the battery. I have got this HD2 from the market here on XDA and it works very good overall, except for this problem when recharging it. I thought it was the charger and I have tried many usb to wall chargers even the the iPhone's 4 one, but nothing has changed.
I have also tried several roms and kernels but nothing has changed on this side as well. I wiped everything and put back win mobile 6.5 T-mobile stock rom, but hey, no difference here too..
I am wondering if there might be something wrong with the phone itself or can it be the battery going in holiday???....
How can I figure this out???
I have downloaded Battery Doctor from the market and it says the battery is in good health, and I get up to 14 hours with a full charge with mytouch 4G rom and kernel rafpigna 1.7 cpu 1.3Ghz OC.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem ??? do you guys have any suggests ???
This problem is driving me really crazy...

Are you using the original HD2 charger? I have tried many different chargers and they always charge at a different rate. It has to be that, not the battery.

Unfortunately it came with its original charger broken and I have never had the pleasure to try with it.. Anyways I am using a charger that has the same specs of the original one, which is the usb charger of the iPhone 4, and yea same result ...
I have downloaded currentwidget from the market and it gets less than 200mA of current in, when it usually should get around 400mA, sometimes the value goes down to 200mA as well, which makes me really wonder the problem might be the usb port of the phone .

That's your issue there, 0.2A (aka 200mA).
The UK HD2 charger for example, is 1A (aka 1000mA).
To work out the maximum time it should take to charge the battery:
(capacity x inefficiency factor) / charging current
(1230 x 1.15)/200 = 7 hours
(1230 x 1.15)/1000 = 1.4 hours

That charger only delievers 0.2 A which is 200ma , you need at least a 500ma charger, mine is a 1 A ( 1000 ma ) and its quite normal to see a 700 ma rate while charging..

Take a look on ebay or any local phone shop/online phone accessory shop.
You want a micro usb charger that has an output current of at least 500mA/0.5A
The original HTC ones are 1000mA.
Blackberry ones I've seen are 700mA so they're good enough.
200mA isn't a problem, it won't damage your battery, in fact it will live slightly longer as it's being put under less stress when charging, but don't use your phone while you're charging with it as you'll be drawing more current than the charger can supply.
So for instance, if you wanted a car charger so you could use the phone as a satnav and talk via bluetooth, you'd need a 1A charger to cope with the drain on the battery.

Alright, my dad has managed to temporary fix its original charger and I can confirm there's nothing wrong with the battery and the phone itself. It gets beyond 800mA with the original charger and fully recharge the batter within an hour and half, which is great..
Ok now I have to find a compatible USB to wall charger with the same frequency.
Since its a T-Mobile US HD2 its original charger is american, and since I am in Italy I'd get an Italian standard wall charger. Does the Italian HD2 original wall charger has the same frequency of the american one??
Thanks

I have the same problem but with Htc touch 2(Mega)-I know that this isn't Mega forum but i couldn't find any solution there,so i write here my issue-.It takes too much to charge my Touch 2 (around 9-10 hours) with the AC power. On the charger its writen:Input:100-240~0.3A(0,3A)50-60Hz,Output: 5V-1.0A(1,0A)MAX.DO I have the same problem,I need to change the charger?Thank you!
My T-Mobile's battery recharced 3 ours. not 4 ours or more. My charger is original.is there any problem with my battery
To full chagne the battery, need more than 10 hours. Tried different ROMs, Batteries, changers, cables. the same result.
It looks like a hardware issue...... but....
when I used a DC power supplier(5.2V, limit to 1A) and plug in the cable, it appears the DC current is 0.5A, and after 10 second, fall down to 0.1A. at least, in the first 10secend the hardware worked all right...
Do you use the original OEM charger ?
Have you tried a different charger ?
How old is your Note ? Have you tested a different battery too ?

I was quite surprised when I switched to the Note from the Dell Steak. My old phone would charge much quicker. The Note takes about six hours to fully charge I'd say. As a result I plug it in pretty much whenever I can.

Yeah, Mine can take around 5+ hours too if im charging it from <5%
Bear in mind that it is a bigger than normal battery, 2500mah.
But if it is like you say, Taking 10+hours to charge, Id get it looked at, Maybe send it off for repair or something.

Isn't it bad to constantly charge your phone even when it still has battery?
I heard it reduces the battery's life span.
I dont believe it is, I often charge mine even when its got plenty of juice left.
It may reduce life span, But the battery will live longer than the time you will own the phone so i guess it dont matter
No one can help. feel bad.
I saw sevral links saying same problem, but no solutions... poor us...

From what I've read, it's what you're supposed to do with the current generation of batteries. But then there's so much crap floating about about batteries it gets hard to figure out what is reliable info.
And this is with the original charger? If it's not an official charger, there's a big chance the phone will draw only what's usually allowed across USB. Which isn't much... In fact, with USB, the power draw of GPS/screen on/games can make your phone discharge even with the charger on. So try the official charger, on AC power.
Same problem...
I have the same problem.
At the beginning, about 3 months ago, my SGN works fine, battery are charged to 100% in 2 hours maximum.
I'm buy the phone from a Samsung Store, all accessories are originals. Today I send my phone to the technical assistance and there's no problem with battery or the charger.
My problem stars about 3 weeks, with an alert about different voltages after a full charge, the problem was solved only removing the battery and waiting an hour. At the technical assistance, the answer was to charge the phone when it's shutdown.
I already try that, format the cache, rebuild the system, everything using the ICS LQ3 from Baltic.

Is the problme solved after remove the battery for 1 hour?
paddyzou, the problem with the wrongs voltages, yes, my steps to solve this:
- Full discharge
- Shutdown of the phone
- Remove the battery for 1 hour
- Full charge with the phone hang out
The problem with the low charge I think that was okay, it's seen to be happen in random times, I just flash another LQ3(France) version of ICS yesterday and seems to be working fine.

This is correct, a chemical reaction takes place while the battery is discharging and is reversed when charging(changing). The chemistry of the battery changes how they hold energy. The Lithium ion batteries in our phones can be charged any time, they have no "memory" characteristics like previous rechargeable batteries (NiCd).
OP, it sounds like your charger is going. My stock HTC charger (2-3 years old) now only charges at about 40% the speed, which means the phone will discharge while its plugged in. I recommend grabbing one of those tiny square usb chargers (1A 5v, not 0.5A). I got one for like $6, as long as its 1A it will be quick.
Hi everybody. Probably many peoples asked this question before, but I see a lot of thread about that and they all answer different things. I want to know if it's real that I have to plug my phone once he got 100/100 and I let him discharge at 0 before I plug in to recharge completly.
I want also to know if it's dangerous for the battery to let the phone plugged in all night
Thank you and sorry if you got a lot of topic about that
No and no. This advice refers to nickel hybrid and cadmium batteries which haven't been used in phones for 10years now. Sure you should charge to 100 sometimes as it helps accuracy on the battery indicator but you gain nothing by discharging completel . In fact your phone will show 0 when there's still a little juice left because it's harmful to completely empty lithium batteries.
Alrightt finally a clear answer thank you.

For the past decade, I've taken the phone out of its box and used it.
Mostly theres about 60% in it.
I just use it and go.
If the battery performs adversely, I just buy a new one.
Life is too short to baby'ing batteries.
yup, batteries are dirt cheap.
Take my advice.
Avoid third party crap.
I had the experion or something that was total garbage.
I actually bought two and a dock.
By the end of the second month they were acting weird.
Showing me 5% battery left after a full charge but staying on for 10 hours.
Turning off for no reason.
Stick to OEM.

Agree with this. Here in the UK it's £40 for the OEM battery and stand/charger - I ended up buying a £4 battery (listed as 2800mAh) and a £13 cradle - the battery is lucky to give me 5 hours on full charge.
As mentioned in here, new battery technology does not need a full discharge - it's better to keep it hovering around 80% if possible (which is impractical of course)
The more "discharged" batteries are the more wear they get when you recharge them I believe - Keeping your battery on the higher end of 50% is preferable for long life, but no matter what they'll run down eventually!
