Accu weather code - HD2 General

It seems that Accu Weather changed their site, so now you can't get the city codes from the URL in the address bar.
Does anyone have an idea on how to get the codes from their site?
I need the code for Torgau, Germany and a friend of mine is looking for Doetinchem, Netherlands.

Hi,
if you use Firefox as your browser, just install the addon Forecastfox. In the add on you can search for your city and the needed code is visible in the options of the add in. Torgau is EUR|DE|GM014|TORGAU|
bye
Sven

But not anymore! :-(
The new forecastfox shows no more codes.

Anybody recommend a weather app for UK

Hi
I'm using PocketWeather at the moment, but it gets it's info from msnbc in the states. Some other programs also seem to get their info from US sites as well, e.g. Journal Bar. PocketWeather uses city codes to retrieve weather info and I have the city (or village anyway) code for use on uk.weather.com. Unfortunately, although it is possible to add the city (village) code to the list for PocketWeather it is unable to retrieve weather info 'cos msnbc doesn't recognise the city(village) code.
Is there a good weather program out there where info is retrieved from a UK weather site and where it's possible to identify city(village) codes other than the main recognised cities?
Cheers

Try this:
http://www.s-church.net/otherprojects.htm
it uses weather.com, it updates through gprs and Activesync and it is FREE !
Bye
Cheers dave, I saw this, but again it is getting info from an international, i.e. USA biased web site. Just looked at weather.com and closest match I can get to my location is Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, which is what PocketWeather can give me. I'd really like to put in my specific village, which is available for forecasts on uk.weather.com.
I use WeatherPanel in Canada... It gets the information from www.theweathernetwork.com
i use ajosoft pocket weather
i think it get it's info from bbc at least thats the url it got typed in

Aha, that's where PocketWeather confuses us. The radar and satellite images appear to come from the BBC website, but the actual weather forecasts come from msnbc as far as I could make out.
The software has been taken over by SBSH Mobile Software (http://www.sbsh.net) who have a forum on PocketWeather and having taken a look at some of the configuration threads there I understood the source of the forecasts was msnbc.com
If you could use the other features of http://www.mobimate.com/ppc/worldmate/index.shtml then you'd have weather forecasts (weather.com > GPRS) included. One of my must-have applications.

The $30 version is restricted to 250 cities worldwide, so I think I'd end up with Newcastle being the closest again. The $70 version looks promising with over 38,000 locations, but I think $70 for a program I'll probably only use for weather is not going to go down well with a certain person - know what I mean
Use pocket weather myself - free and actually lists my cities
I think I might have been fooled into thinking I could get a localised forecast for my village since I can specifically find it on uk.weather.com. However, having looked at uk.weather.com and bbc.co.uk/weather for my local area they both use the same weather station. And that weather station is at Newcastle Airport. So, I don't think it is possible to get a more accurate forecast than that predicted for Newcastle anyway since that is where the weather station is. Not sure how they slightly adjust the forecast for a village, 'cos it is slightly different from the forecast for Newcastle itself, but I think I'll be sticking with PocketWeather as, like dangel said, it's currently free and in my opinion a good weather app.
Thanks everyone for your various suggestions.
Try this!
I've tried several that I like that you might want to take a look at. Despite the little flag next to my name, I live in the UK.
PoceketWeather
Journalbar
PocketWeather is great, I'm using it now having decided that its better than journalbar. PocketWeather is freeware (i think) and it has loads of options. You can even get Satellite and Radar images, but those are best left off the today screen as they're too small - much better viewed in options. I don't have the link handy but it should be pretty easy to track down.
PocketWeather does need a little jiggery-pokery to get the placement to look right on your today screen, let me know if you go with it and I'll tell you my settings.

Yep, already using PocketWeather and have been for a few weeks and I agree with you and will be sticking with it. You're right about the satellite images as well. Don't why the option is there to display on today screen.

[APP][UPDATED Oct 9 2008] XChange R8 currency convertor

Hi guys,
I must admit that I didn’t write software for a few years, and this is my first attempt after a long break – so please be gentle…
Xchange R8 is a simple currency convertor. You can choose 3 currencies to be displayed and for the time being you have two WebServices available: Bank of Romania (for my Romanian friends) and Bank of England (for my other friends). Bank of England currency are accessed via the Export Technologies WebService.
You need of course an Internet connection.
For Bank of Romania you can choose to see the currencies as they were at a certain date. Before you ask, chosing a date in the future will alas not work. The Export Technologies service does not have this function though, and when working with the Bank of England this choice will be unavailable.
The program remembers the last downloaded values for each service.
Please note that the Export Technologies service (for Bank of England) is slow – an update can take up to a minute. There’s nothing I can do about that.
I wrote this program initially for myself, as I often needed to know the currency rates and this is much faster than navigating from the browser. Then I saw somebody on this forum asking about such a program. While I’m sure better solutions can be found, I had a lot of fun writing this. Besides, it’s free!
I’m totally willing to add other WebServices to the list if you can provide me with their address.
Please note that I can only work on this during weekends: I have a company to run and it takes almost all my time.
Another note: .NET 3.5 framework is required.
UPDATE: v 1.1:
Added Bank of Hungary web service
Corrected a bug in the calendar: when first opened it always went to a day in July. Now it defaults to today.
Notes: Bank of Hungary does not update the service daily. Therefore, after you press Download, you may see a different date than today appearing at the top: this is the date of the last update. Furthermore, because of this, when you use the calendar to choose a date, you may get the message "No data available for the chosen date!". Simply choose another date. Hint: they don't update during weekends.
UPDATE 21/08/08 v 1.2
Added Invert function for those who prefer to see the exchange course mirrored. For example, if before you saw 1 GBP = 2 USD, after Invert you'll see 1 USD = 0.5 GBP.
Added calculator. For pic see next post.
UPDATE Oct 9 2008 v 2.0
You can now convert from EUR to USD and actually whatever you want from a list of 150 currencies. Choose Webservicex from Options -> Currencies.
Please note that this service is updating all the time, so values taken at a few minutes apart can vary slightly. This may actually be a good thing if you want to feel the pulse of the market in these stressed times.
One problem with Webservicex (affecting only Romanians as far as I can tell): it only contains the old currency (ROL) and it always returns zero. I don't see this as real trouble, as you can always use the Bank of Romania service.
Pic for the calculator:

I definitely would. However, I need what is called a WebService, like http://www.exporttechnologies.com/webservices/currencyservice/currencyservice.asmx?WSDL.
That is usually an XML file defining the access to the service. A site simply giving a list of currencies is not a web service.
I looked at the Czech National Bank site (the english version) and could not find any link to a service. Perhaps you can help me there?

Sorry, unless I'm very wrong this is just a method to set the date (and info) on their site. I can't use this to retrieve the data in the application.
A webservice link always ends with WSDL.
This can tell you if I can use it or not. By the way, WSDL = Web Services Description Language, in case you wondered

Adding city to weather part of main panel

Is there any way to add a city to the weather part of the sony ericsson panel?
If it's not listed I don't think we can. Which is pretty crap for me in Lincoln as their is nothing near and Nottingham doesn't seem to update.
However the SPB panel does have a wider range of cities.
I had to go all the way to last night to get my phone!
if think i've tracked down where the citys are stored it looks like all the City's & their accuweather codes are compiled into a dll on the phone & most the UK codes are incorrect. (I just compared my local code on my X1 compared with the code that the firefox plugin uses)
So either it's a problem for Sony to fix or the DLL needs to be decompiled & rebuilt
Anybody figure this out yet?
Lincoln can't be added because there isn't a weather station there that the system uses as far as I know. When doing project work in Lincoln we always had to use weather data from sheffield.
I can't even get mine to change city. It says the new city but still shows the weather for New York.
The Met have a station at RAF Waddington, only minutes from my house.

Looking into the panel folder (at the City DLL), this seems to be true. Question is: how to edit the DLL to add other cities covered by accuweather?

Question: Currency widget for HD??

Hi,
I like how i can edit the weather widget to match my city.
Question: Is there sort of a widget for touchflow, that i can configure to show me the today's currency values ?
I work a lot with money and such a tab woudl be very helpful, anyone has an idea? i tried searching the forum, maybe i searched wrong, but did not find something like that
Thanks in advance.
go to "Stock" tab, select Menu / Quote then enter the currency codes you need e.g. SGDAUD=X Singapore Dollar to Australian Dollar.
You can get the codes from Yahoo Finance.
Works well. There is some upper limit of the number of stocks or currency rates you can have but I'm not sure what it is.
Googling around i found:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-xchange-r8.html
works super nice and fast and found automatically the refference bank from my country.
Super cute
Amd just tried your suggestion, THANK YOU works as a charm !!
There's also WorldMate Live at https://www.worldmatelive.com/
It has currency exchange, weather, measurement converter, itinarary mgt and flight schedules plus a bunch of other goodies. I travel regularly for work so have found this invaluable.

weather

hello, i want to use the htc weather app that comes on the tp2, but im not using the touch flo thingy. so can anyone tell me how to do that?
thanks
ohhhh... or if theres any similar apps like the g-weather i have been using which i would carry on using but my trial period has run out
You can't just use one particular tab of TF3D. It's all or nothing...
Sounds like you prefer something free, so have a check here for some options.
Otherwise, the weather apps from Elecont and SPB are pretty good. Or if you use SPB Mobile Shell, a weather widget is included.
Hey just use TF for find a standalone app from the previou post!

I've read a number of threads on how to edit a sql database in a particular manila folder in order to make the accu-weather widget display your city's weather. But since I live 100 miles from the nearest accu-weather "international" city, it seems that my only option is to use a 3rd party app. Is this a correct assessment?

You can use the weather city editor to add your city to the data base. I am mobile at the moment so I cant link. you can use a city in your area as a base or enter everything from scratch.
Ok ran to the pc. HERE

If you are saying that the Accuweather web site does not have a city closer than 100 miles, then yes I think you are out of luck. You are limited to whatever data Accuweather provides. You might try RadarWeather. It is complicated to install, but it might use a different data feed.
