[REF]/[PRJ] Updated: 7/24 Entering Service Menu / Hidden Setup Menus

Team,
***First off I am not responsible for damaged that occurs to any phones. Make sure you know what you are doing before making changes!!!***
I was having an issue with the mic gain recording distorted live concert audio so I was wondering how to access extended features on the Galaxy S.
The following is the code to dial in to access the hidden Service Mode menus.
Example how to access menus:
Dial *#*#197328640#*#*
This allowed me to adjust the mic gain to get better audio recordings at loud live concerts.
There seems to be several hidden menus on the Galaxy S and I am wondering how many more there are. Which led me to post this thread.
If any of you can find more hidden menus post them and i'll add them to this OP.
So far I know about:
Hidden Menus:
Service Menu: *#*#197328640#*#*
GPS Hidden Menu: *#*#1472365#*#*
Battery and General Info: *#*#4636#*#*
GTalk Service Monitor: *#*#8255#*#*
LCD / Speaker Test: *#0*#
Factory Data Reset: *#*#7780#*#*
Camera Information: *#*#34971539#*#* (Do Not Use The First Option "update camera firmware" you will break your camera)
Change Power Button Action: *#*#7594#*#*
Show IMEI Number: *#06#
Be careful in Service Mode that you know what it is your changing. If you hork up your phone you can reset it by doing a Factory data reset in Settings / Privacy / Factory data reset.
I would do a nandroid backup before making changes if your just experimenting.
I will add reference material below as I can:
__________________________________________________ __
Service Menu:
The following popular data communication technology is associated with each cell carrier type:
GSM = GPRS (2g), EDGE(2g), UMTS(3g), WCDMA(3g), HSDPA(3g) {Cell Carrier examples: AT&T and T-Mobile}
CDMA = CDMA*(2/3g) EV-DO(3g) WiMax(3/4g) {Cell Carrier examples: Verizon and Sprint}
Preferred Network types:
WCDMA preferred - The GSM phone is capable of using both 2G and 3G data communication and when signal strength is low 3G is favored more.
GSM only - The GSM phone is capable of using only 2G data communication. When the 2G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
WCDMA only - The GSM phone is capable of using only 3G data communication. When the 3G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
GSM auto (PRL) - The GSM phone is capable of using both 2G and 3G data communication and when signal strength is low 2G is favored more. This one is a bit confusing to me since PRL is associated mostly with CDMA technology and not GSM technology.
CDMA auto (PRL) - The CDMA phone is capable of using both 2G and 3G data communication and when signal strength is low 2G is favored more.
CDMA only - The CDMA phone is capable of using only 2G data communication. When the 2G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
EvDo only - The CDMA phone is capable of using only 3G data communication. When the 3G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) - Some phones are equipped with both GSM and CDMA capabilities. This setting appears to just have the phone attempt to stay connected to the data communication type that works the best. (Maybe the Samsung Galaxy S will take advantage of this???)
Unknown - If none of the above fit or the phone is acting weird as far as connecting to the carrier, you will see your preferred network type is set to this.

Dude where you getting all these code. Nice find. You have any more? LOL
I don't which is which. I don't want to mess up anything on it.
Do you know how to work these setup menus?

I know how to get to the volume service menus in the phone, but does anyone know how to make the earpiece volume louder? My phone is too quiet when up to my ear (rocker volume maxed out) and I don't know what exactly to change in the service menus. I did it on my eternity but this one is a little different. any help is appreciated.

Several there that say RX, which one exactly? And what's the maximum possible value to make the incoming ringtone/text/email notifications louder? Thank you for all this, btw.

I noticed this as well. Very annoying. Anyone knows how to re-enable it ?

could it be that that's because the phone is locked and needs to be unlocked by the carrier

I found out that if you go into the dialer and type in *#*#197328640#*#* that it will take you into a menu that will allow you to change it. From the main menu of the ServiceMode screen, select DEBUG SCREEN, then PHONE CONTROL at the bottom, then UE STATE CONTROL. From there select CHANGE RAT TO WCDMA to enable 3G only, and select CHANGE RAT TO GSM for 2G only.

Give that a try.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you. That works! I've been trying for days to get it to work but it always stuck to WCDMA. THANK YOU.
kewl im glad you all figured it out.

I found a code on nother forum but can't remember where.. When entered it asked for a password and an IME number and one other number.. I found it by accident one day when searching for 'unlock captivate' and I think it brings up the same menu that is brought up when you use a foreign sim... Would allow unlock without requiring the insertion of a foreign sim..
Anyone know this code?

LTE band availability and usage

I've noticed that using the dialer code: *#*#4636#*#* we can access a debugging menu.
Tap 'Phone Information' and you'll see a slew of information about the current connection status.
As you can also see, there's a drop down box labeled 'Set Preferred Network Type:' which allows you to change the cellular network type(just like in the Mobile network settings Menu). This is great if you are in a location and have a data connection but aren't getting any throughput. But there's also a drop down under box under the same 'Phone Information' debugging menu, on the top right(three button) that gives you an option of selecting the radio band as well.
My question is, will there be a way to implement into custom Roms or kernels to allow the radio bands and network types to switch to the best frequency with most data throughput?
Walking through my house, I have dead zones. In those dead zones I have to switch to 800mhz and change my type to LTE/WCDMA. Could we have an auto search for radio frequencies and the individual bands on those frequencies or will I always have to manually change them?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the "Select Radio Band" is set to "Automatic" by default, and changing it to something else (like "Cellular 800"), prevents you from going back into automatic mode unless you reset your modem (easiest via TWRP).

Usually the modem resets to auto when I hard reboot. Either way, the automatic setting isn't doing its job.

Network trouble with A9 Pro (a910f) Either making calls or using 4g

Hello Xda community
i recently bought a9 pro a910f international version from Aliexpress
the first thing i did is updating the software via ota from originally nogut to
also nogut but apparently a small update.
My problem is i can get only 4g/lte but i cant make or receive any calls ???
if i switched from network mode to GSM Only i could make calls but i lose internet.7
i have Lycamobile sim card , i live in Belgium
do you think its fault in software , i already flashed and downgraded and upgraded through
odin and using original firmware without any luck
i think its band issue maybe a9 pro is not compatible with my service provider
but i am not expert there
Help please
Sir you can download other firnware that works on you country and flash via ODIN is easy or just flash other modem but need more instructions
Thank you very much for your reply
I tried 3 original firmwares so far but no use.
You said something about modem ?
I have no idea about that ? Is it not already in the firmware ?
I flashed 2 firmwares: Malaysia and India using 4 files method with odin.
But with no use.
I will try to flash all other regions .
But i think it could be hardware fault?
To make or receive calls on 4G, at least one of these have to be working:
CSFB (circuit switched fall back) from 4G, where CS is not available, to 3G or 2G;
VoLTE/IMS (voice over LTE,4G);
VoIP software...
Below: 4G=LTE, 3G=UMTS/WCDMA, 2G=GSM. Those are 3 RATs, selecting only one is sometimes "RAT lock".
4636 can usually be opened without root.
Set network to 4G/3G/2G in the settings app, not 4G(LTE) only.
Set network to LTE/UMTS auto (PRL) in 4636, should also CS to 2G.
Set network to LTE/WCDMA in 4636. (4G/3G).
Check CSC features for anything related to this, remove or modify if rooted.
Check current CSC, install, open stock recovery.
Install CSC with VoLTE (IMS 'APN') set up for the mobile network operator, if available.
Disable VoLTE provisioned in 4636 if it's not available?
CS could be disabled in the menu, probably not, (*#2683662#, etc) Example, in this example CS is disabled, leaving only PS (data). (Exynos! Likely differs on Snapdragon) UE Setting and Information > Setting > Protocol > NAS > CEMODE Setting > [3]CEMODE0(PSonly/DC)(*), UE Setting and Information > Setting > Protocol > NAS > Network Control > SERVICE DOMAIN > [3] PS ONLY. Edit: it works on GSM.
Ask the mobile virtual network operator about "circuit switched fall back", have the question elevated to the ones higher in position.
Etc.

4636 is basically a menu that comes with Android that allows the selection of network modes for SIM 1, including those that are not available in the usual settings. It has a few other features, but it's not relevant to this. On Samsung (Gingerbread, etc) , it was previously launched by *#*#4636*#*# in the phone app, like other devices. In the network mode "LTE only"/"4G only", calls by circuit switched fall back aren't available (can't automatically switch to 3G or 2G). If it's not changeable in the usual settings, look for it there.
How to open it? Well, there are many apps that open 4636, both with, and without root. Not necessarily the menu before it "Testing".
What to Google... anything above?
thank you for your efforts trying to help me
i tried those but still not working
