Facebook for Android version 1.3.1 will break the SGS default Facebook / Twitter sync (for Contact/ Calendar/ Status msg)
I tried on both XWJM1 and XWJM5.
Contact sync will no longer works after installation of version 1.3.1. My experience

Managed to revert the situation by uninstall Facebook for Android 1.3.1 and re-install older version of it.

I tried uninstall Facebook for Android version 1.3.1 but it doesn't help, removed the account but failed to add the same account due to failed authentication.
Is it just me ?

Not just you, my mate with an SGS was complaining about the same issue with me today. Sync worked again soon as he uninstalled Facebook.
And the battery life. Man, WTF is up with the update. Uninstalling Facebook on indefinite status until it gets better.
so i am not the only one
by battery is last a day less with this facebook update
i uninstall facebook immediately
and battery is fine again
don't install this new facebook
disaster
Just turn of contacts sync in the facebook application if you want to keep using the built in contacts based one which comes with the SGS. It's in the FB app preferences.
After that the battery usage, behaviour etc. is the same as the old one

I can't tell which older version, but the issue is resolved.

Where did you get DXJG4? I downloaded from the usual place but when expanded, all files have an extension of *.tar.md5 Is that right? If so, how do I use it? I tried deleting .md5 extension but that doesn't work.
OH, and it is much better than DXJF4?
Thanks!
If you are in thailand, you caen get from Samsung service center.

I've tried the latest market also(the one at first post), and i'm now back to latest official market:
Go to Applications ---> Manage applications --> Market --> Uninstall Updates
Now you're back on first market(without auto-update), time to get back to the latest one. Open this market and browse a little bit.
After that, open a taskkiller(don't know if inbuild taskmanager works, I guess it does) and go to settings. Enable 'Show system processes', and go back to the taskkiller. Then Kill the apps 'market' and 'market updater'. Open the market again, and you've got the market with tabs and auto-update.
----
Above worked for me, I can't garantee it's working for you, but I hope it does
Maybe a little note: When browsing on the old market(without tabs), the sync logo appeared in notification bar. I think that meant he was updating the market again.

Now that the Android Market website has finally launched (and stabilized) we're beginning to see reports of rooted devices, and some running custom ROMs, not being recognized by the website. We're having the very same issue ourselves, where a pristine Desire Z running a factory installed copy of Android 2.2 Froyo is listed on the "My Device" page while an old HTC Hero hacked to run Froyo courtesy of FroydVillain ROM does not, even though it's logged in and syncing using the same Google login ID and the Android Market has been recently used from the device (as Google recommends on the "Trouble Downloading" help page). So what about you oh reader, oh rooter... what are you experiencing?
Working fine on MIUI rom. Just tried it to make sure.
poll up
I'm using CM 6.1.1 and it's not working for me. Maybe because I'm also using the old market.
YOU NEED THE NEW MARKET.
Working fine on CyanogenMod 7.
I don't think this has anything to do w/ being rooted and/or running a custom ROM. I'm on EViO 1.7.7 & at first the web market didn't recognize my EVO until yesterday morning but I'm stll unable to install apps. I think it's just a matter of Google working out the kinks. Besides, Engadget's poll is somewhat meaningless since most people that are running their phones completely stock don't even know a web market exists & have probably never heard of Engadget.

Working perfect for me on CM 6.1.1 with the old market.
It didn't work for me when it first rolled out while on myn RLS5. However, for a few reasons, I wiped, reflashed the same ROM, restored all user apps and a few system apps. It now works just fine.
So there's something that needs to be reset. I don't know what it is. I had tried clearing market data and that didn't do it. Maybe GTalk (it sounds like it uses that to push the install notifications). Maybe something else. But it will work with a custom ROM, even if it initially didn't work with that same custom ROM.
Could it have something to do with background data and auto sync? When I turn both off my chrome to phone also stops working. Haven't tried to install apps from the site though

Not working for me on RLS5, maybe it has to do with flashing CM/Myns back and forth for a while bc it shows some apps I installed using CM as installed and of course the apps are not installed any longer, and im on the latest market. Anyhow im waiting on a RC for CM7 to start from scratch.
specs in sig and it works, downloads start in maybe 10-15 secs.
@driguez: assuming you've done the proper backup/restore with Titanium, force-close the Market app and delete its data. Then reload it and you should have your app list back without the extra CM apps. You could even try the remote downloading but I don't know if it'd work.
There are certain apps that for some reason Google Play won't let me download and install them.
I know the problem is in Google Play because some of those apps I can find on Amazon or CNET and other sources and when I install them they work perfect.
But some apps like this one I can't find anywhere else and I wonder WHY this is.
Also do you know a workaround?
Thanks.

Actually the opposite: It doesn't let me install the apps at all (it won't even show them in Google Play search results!), but if I install the apps from other markets (the ones that are available there), they work perfectly on my I-400.
This is so strange. It's as if Google decided to blacklist certain models. But I have not idea why.

This is mind boggling. I cleared the entire data for the market app and trying again exhibited the same exact behavior. I even tried bypassing Google Play by accessing via browser instead of the Google Play application. This is what I received:

Note how the device is greyed out. And if I try to select it anyway, it gives me a "this item is not compatible with your device" error:
What version of the OS are you running on your SCH-I400?
I see two potential reasons, off the top (for this app, at least).
1. Do you have google voice search installed? Its a requirement. If you pulled it off during debloating, or are on one of the 07 roms that debloated it, it won't work.
2. One of the permissions (most likely system tools) is incompatible due to a rom mod, or the fact that this rom, for all intents and purposes was a samsung beta. What other apps is this happening with? If you can find a pattern, it would help.
Also, every one on this thread (I believe) is on 09. You might try that. The fact that you are on a leaked modem, and this requires full network access might be a clue too.
