Is it possible to have Android on Iphone 4?
guy i a long line of htc user (Age of 11 now 20) my phone died few days back,So bell gave me a option
between galaxy s and iphone 4 only issue is no flash on galaxy s and no Android on iphone 4.
Guys could some one advice me on progress of porting Android on iphone4
or other options for me.
thanks in advance
Right now you can only get Android on the Original iPhone & the 3G. I haven't read about any progress from planetbeing about the iPhone 4 though.
Buy an Android phone! HTC Desire own this IMODEDIT.
take an iphone 4, and sell it,
for the money you can buy 2 HTC Desires (Best Android Phone)
A friend from me has the iPhone4 and he told me that exists a working alpha version of an android build for the IPhone4.

Take the money.
I agree that you should get the iPhone 4 and sell it. Then get 2 Android phones with the money, but definitely not a Sammy.
Or how about you get a 3G and boot it with android if you want to keep your iPhone..

Hi all! I'm thinking of selling my Nexus One, but before doing so I'm looking at what options I have open to me. Can any of you guys suggest phones, any OS really, and comment about the phone with respect to the Nexus?
I'm currently considering the HTC Desire Z/ G2, the HTC Desire HD, the Nokia N8 and the iPhone 4. Any thoughts?
Oh, and no CDMA phones please. I live in a GSM country.

dont get nokia n8. that is a definite downgrade. desire z seems a downgrade too (slower CPU) desire hd yes, iPhone 4, i wouldn't get that. i would wait a couple months till iPhone 5 (june) or if you can hold of, just keel your nexus, it is still arilliant phone. you can update it through loads of custom roms. you will also get the official 2.3 update. hope i helped.
I barely got my nexus one since I got it for cheap on ebay but I was reallllllly tempted of getting the nokia N8 coming from a nexus one to a desire z or a desire hd doesn't really qualify for a nexus one upgrade. My opinion is if your using the next phone for 6 months to a year get the iphone 4 or N8 if your geting another android device stick to your nexus. If your planning to keep the device for a year or two wait until the next gen iphone comes out or meego or android tegra devices.
Personally I wouldn't sell off you N1 just yet. The N1 still has a lot of life left in it, the recent releases aren't exactly huge upgrades.
If your N1 died/broke/bricked/whatever and you need a replacement then yes, a Desire HD or even a Nexus S would be a good choice if it picks your fancy.
If you are selling because you want a new toy to play with then I'd wait until the dual cores hit the market since they just around the corner.

Thanks guys, but I have come to a conlusion that I think many Nexus One owners feel. I've been looking ALL OVER at phones that have just come out, being rumoured, etc etc, but this just made me want my Nexus even more because (silly as it may sound) I can't find anything that I feel could occupy the same space in my heart as the Nexus
Now, I'm off to get myself some of those custom ROMs. Thanks a million guys!

Yeah you'd be better off waiting. CES is going on right now and a lot of the new phones will be out fairly soon (going by the current rate phones are being churned out).
I'm looking to move on too, but I'm happy to wait for the new pack.

I'm chiming in a bit late here as you have made up your mind and keeping your Nexus, but I will add that the Nexus One is the best phone I've ever owned. My main reason: The phone did not come loaded with bloatware and you don't have to root or flash to make it a great device. You're making the right decision.

Thanks again guys, looking at what's out the moment only makes me love my Nexus more. Even more so that I'm running Cyanogenmod 7 on it XD
The dual core phones are interesting, but none have the same "impact" the Nexus One has. And I'd be surprised if Google didn't release a "Nexus 2" with the same power, and maybe 2.4 if the rumours are to be believed.

Technically there is a sucessor, - Google Nexus S developed by Samsung. but i wouldnt condider it a major upgrade.
I completely agree that the nexus s is not much of an upgrade.. More of a face lift. Personally I have messed with my buddy's NS and it feels like my Vibrant I had (cheep and plastic) but I do have to say it looks sexy. I love my N1 and it will be around until it bites the dust.
Great choice on keeping your N1!!
I know about the Nexus S, but I think calling it the Nexus One's successor is borderline crimal.
Agreed, it looks great, but doesn't feel so great. But I guess it's a suitable platform to launch Gingerbread. After all, it's almost more about the software than the hardware.

I would go for Desire HD. Materials and general quality. (Galaxy is plastics)
But it depends in your needs and likes, and price. Sure other people will write big explanations.
Nice upgrade anyway!

The Galaxy S was the first smartphone I bought and it's a great phone. Swype is one of THE best apps I've ever used and I dearly wish it was available on the Wildfire as typing this reply with a bog-standard keyboard is a major PITA.
I principally bought the Galaxy S because it was the biggest screen on the market at the time and watching videos on a small screen blows. Of course, there are now phones with bigger screens, so I've upgraded to the Nexus S. Another key factor in my upgrade decision was that Samsung took a long time to upgrade the Galaxy S from Eclair to Froyo and I didn't want to wait for them to upgrade it to Gingerbread so I bought the Nexus S. AFAIK, to date Samsung have no plans to upgrade the Galaxy S to Gingerbread.
So I suggest you factor this in to your purchase decision and try and really focus on what you're looking for in a smartphone.
I've also just discovered the world of custom ROMs so now I find I'm going to sell my Galaxy S (and possibly my Nexus S - while the secondhand prices are still high) as I'm enjoying my (small and thin) Wildfire + custom ROMs so much that I hardly ever use the other two phones.
So my advice to you is to seriously think about what it really is you like about the hardware. As the software you can change.

REally?!?! You have Galaxy S, Nexus S, but you prefer Wildfire?? I have too much envy right now!!! But it's a little strange, isn't it? I mean they are fantastic phones and Wildfire is great, but no so powerful!
Yes, it surprises me as well that I find the Wildfire to be more to my liking. I guess I just like its size compared to the others. Each to his own, but it has been an expensive exercise for me to find out what I really like.

Simple question for people to have a discussion here if they want.
What will you do with your current baby when the little brother gets released, ie Galaxy S3? Or what will you do with it when you get your next upgrade.
I for one will keep my one as i still think it has a couple of more years in it. Plus my dad loves it so i probably give it to him...He loves his Chuck Norris facts bless him.
Anyway i'd love to find out other people's opinions. Bet no one has thought that far out yet.
Enjoy

Keep it, simple as. My sgs2 is my baby, it's my first ever smartphone and I wouldn't ever get rid of it. In the future I may upgrade, but I'll still keep my sgs2, Maybe buy a frame for it .
I'm never buying a non-Google branded android phone again but. I'll just sell it.
i'll keep mine for the duration of my contract. i'm very happy with it.

It will be on my desk. Turned on and charged only when there's firmware updates.
Selling my Galaxy S II and getting a Galaxy Nexus for Christmas. And then I'll get the Nexus 4 next Christmas .

Give it to someone in return for a bj.
So after just over 2 years, I think my HD2 has offered me all it can, and now I want to get a new phone. Only problem is, I dont know what to get! Ideally I would like to stick with WP7, but the manufacturer of the phone isn't too important. Camera, screensize(large) and battery life are the main features I am after. Really, I think the only contender is the HTC Titan, but I haven't really seen many others available. is there anything out now, or coming out soon that would be a good replacement? I was hoping the Nokia Ace might be coming soon, but i cant find any firm info
I've had my hd2 also for 2 years and just bought the Galaxy Nexus and haven't looked back. Awesome phone!!

Saw a Samsung galaxy note today..
I think this could be the successor for me..
Time will tell..
I like the 5.3'' screen a lot..
I fancy the ss note too,, but I'm waiting till summer and buy one outright once the price drops and the devs fully open it up. In the meantime I bought another hd2, (since I've been living with a cracked screen and no gps for 18 months since a drunken phone fumble, *cringe* )
samsung galaxy note i have also been looking at, along with the galaxy s 2. im liking the idea of wp7 on the galaxy note....
maybe
a Htc Sensation xl; 4,7 inch display and Sense..
Just go with WP7, 5 on the HD2!
It'll probably never be ported to the Samsung Galaxy Note, and or any other phone from the galaXy series
Sent from my nexus s using xda premium
I currently have the galaxy note and it is the bomb, a few issues here and there but nothing out of the ordinary. Just looking for more development, but will take time. I remember when the hd2 was the same all there was was wm6.5 then a very shoddy sd Android build and now it's a living breathing machine capable of so much more.... The hd2 will ever be in my debt and I will never get rid of it. On that note I would like to give out massive respect and thanks to all developers and users in the hd2 forums that have helped over the last few years.
Gone but not forgotten.

Same, I'm finished with my 2 year HD2 contract next month and I'm itching to get a new phone, been eyeing up the Nexus for a while. But I'm scared of buying it and getting buyers remorse the instant the HTC edge or the Galaxy s3 are released.
But I really dont want to have to wait another 3 or so months to upgrade
hd2 lagacy
i should recommend u something android related
the galaxy family is the perfect one, so Galaxy S II or Galaxy Note will be ok, including there ICS update
♦♦ Galaxy Note ♦♦
Galaxy NOTE seems to be the only device right now which i think is pulling me towards itself and away from my hd2 !
the device (hd2) has served me very loyally over the past months...

As my friend did
I also think bout buying it))

I think im going to take the plunge and get the titan! looking at getting an android tablet so I will have the best of both worlds (PC world have an Advent tablet for £130!!)
first i was looking at the nexus, but no sd-card slot? no way! so i'm landed with the galaxy note, now since 3 moths. i still love my hd2 on miui rom, using it with my prepaid sim card, but the note... wow... also good rom devs around and a lot of possibilities in flashing...
Most of people quit HD2 for HTC Desire HD or HTC Sensation.
For Android Phone, Galaxy Nexus is annoucing a new SmartPhone Class. Like HTC One series =D
HTC One X should be quad-cored with a 720p - 4.7" Screen =D
After 2 years of being loyal to the HD2 I finally ugraded to the SGSII and haven't looked back, yes I still have the HD2 running MIUI ICS the Galaxy S 2 is a great replacement, sure the dev support is not as deep, but give it time, it will be.

Nothing, it's working perfectly using the Teamhacksung CM9 alpha. It's beautiful. I wouldn't swap an iPhone 4S for it, but any other model (even an iPhone 4, probably) yes I would.
(I did the same as you, I managed to swap my HTC Desire for a Galaxy S a month ago - it runs Ice Cream Sandwich beautifully - cos it's so similar to a Nexus S)

cool thanks guys swapping at 6:30 will post when back
back now sofar wow thanks guys now for the fun part begins
Just for anyone's sake, here's my opinion:
If you are looking for something "like" the iPhone 3GS but "Faster", get an iPhone 4 or 4S. Personnaly, I hate the iOS and the way it's closed to everything BUT the mighty apple, but still, if you like the way they are, well, it's the only thing that "is" an iPhone
But if you like something you can mold, play with, set as you like. Well, the Galaxy S is the best of it's generation. Pretty easy to root and to cusromise, easy and well built rom, amazing display, fast CPU and GPU, the only thing better than SGS is the Nexus S, but it's still the same hardware so it's only a software related "better"!
Anyway, please post your feedback!
You can do everything you want on SGS.is practically unbrickable[no matter what you do you still have a backdoor called 'download mode' to undo your phone.apps are free.on the other hand on iphone you have to set every site for apps and of course..a noob in iphones can totally screw it.(sorry for my bad english)
