After doing the upgrade to r2ba026 I notice when I use my earphones I am only getting sound from one side, not both.
Has anybody else gotten that?
I'm listening music via two earpieces of my earphone after the r2ba026 right now.
Made a phone call to check if that functions correctly and it does.
So no problem here.

Ok i figured it was my headphones but i when i call someone with my headphones i can hear the other person but the other person cant hear me when i speak through the phone mic.
Is it because im using a generic headphone that does not have a built in mic?
Can i ask which earphones u have through which u can make a call aswell?

If the headphone doesn't have a mic or mouth piece and your phone is in your pocket or purse, the person on the line won't be able to hear you.
Even if you have the phone mic near the mouth while using earphones without a built in microphone you cannot talk.. The phone wants headsets either with built in mics or no headsets atall...

Try using a different headphone to see if this is nothing something in the headphone.

My normal headset (headset with no mic) always worked with android or WM6.5 to take calls and use phone mic to speak but WM7 people can’t hear me if my headset is plugged in
I was using mine and people could here me fine. My problem was when using the headphones to speak the sound would only come out of one ear, when listening to music it would come out of both ear pieces. It might have something to do with the installed radio version.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914485 post your problems here , that is why it is sticky , we don't need to open allot of new threads , for every problem

have the same problem, anyone got a solution?
Hi all,
I'm not sure if this issue happens with earlier firmwares, but I've just started using Mediascape a lot every day (with the latest 2.1 UXP update)
If I'm listening to music, with headphones plugged in, and I get a call, and since my headphones don't have a mic, I pull them out and take the call. But once I'm done, and the call ends, the music starts playing again... through the phone's speaker. This is pretty annoying.. other music players like Winamp, Poweramp don't have this issue. They wait till you plug in the headphones again before playing.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any fix?
Ummm... This only happens in 1.6. After 2.1, you can answer calls while listening to music. You'll just have to speak through the phone's mic (the one you usual use when you are on a normal call).
When you end the call, the music will resume playing through your earphones, not through speaker.
But if I don't remember wrongly, when I was on 1.6, the music didn't resume after I ended calls =/
I think you should reinstall 2.1? Or maybe take it to the service center.
haha I'm going to look very funny if i try that... but let me see. I assumed that if I plugged in my headphones then the phone's mic would be deactivated. Thanks for the tip, I'll try that next time
goddam.... Lonelee is right.. Nobody ever mentioned that improvement!.. I hated having to use the poxy inline microphone adapter.. YEAY!

Yeah, it's kinda weird, I agree... Like holding a piece of cake attempting to bite it. Haha,
Should be fine with 2.1 ...... With my MW600's you get an option during a call or when taking a call with a button on screen that will kill your bluetooth so you can continue the call via the handset and it pauses your music when you hang up it resumes your music too via the MW600's
I prefer to use the handset to talk and listen so this is a bonus for me
Yeah but I am talking about headphones.
I hate bluetooth earpieces - they seem so rude. You think someone is talking to you till you realize they have something in their ear
With my iPhone or Blackberry, I can plug in earphones (without a mic) and talk directly to the phone and the other party can hear loud and clear. This way I can talk hands free with any earphone. However, with the focus I am unable to do this. I plug in earphones and I can hear everything okay, but talking to the phone is completely useless. No one else can hear what I am saying. Do I need to activate the built-in mic? Or is the mic on the phone just really terrible? Do I need to have an earpiece with a mic for this to work? If so, I feel that this is a huge negative..

it depends on the minijack that you are using, some will contact the mic ring and then the phone will think your headset has a mic and thus will disable the phone's mic.
the aux cable i use for my car is short (or is missing the ring) and i can listen to calls through my car speakers and just talk out loud and the phone hears it. i have yet to have anyone complain that they can't hear me.
so, maybe try another headphone cable and see if that helps.
some phones have this function built-in, if not you cannot use it.
From Day one i have been trying to get good earphones with Mic for nexus 4
tested out more than 6-7 quality earphones with mic like J6M, Klipsh, etc
but the microphone volume on the other end of call is too less compared to apple ear phones( recently switched from iphone)
I have to keep the mic piece really close to my mouth for a good conversation...
can someone help me here.. the mic on nexus 4 works perfect but when i connect earphones the problem begins... i used mic sensitivity apps to test and they pick very less volume from the connected mic
How do i boost the mic sensitivity on earphones or should i return the phone
Will try with my skullcandy's and revert

I'm having the exact same problem - did you find a fix?
I tried quite a few.. expensive as well as cheap ones. finally i got hold of a cheap ear phone set and the volume to the other end is good to be heard (as I have been reported).. While trying them all, I was calling my friend and asking him.. so thats how I know i picked the best one. However, since it extremely loud.. i kinda have to keep it away from my ear a bit and volume on phone is turned down to minimum.. Plus, due to its sheer loudness, I can hear the buzzing sound.. For the first time i noticed it, i.e.: through these extreme loud ear phones. The other party hears it too. Never heard it while on call directly using the ear piece. Strange.

Do you mind me asking which brand headphones you are referring too here? I have the same issue.
I bought from a local shop. It was a knock off of beats audio. The sounds it throws is EXTREMELY loud.
Is it just me, or does the OP make very little sense? I'm completely lost at what he's trying to ask.. Something about the mic? or the sound output of the "earbuds"?
No trouble here with any of the wired earbud sets I've tried. Clear as a bell and no buzzing.
If its so Loud for you, what are you not adjusting the volume? Would kinda of make sense to do so...
Or you could upgrade in your tech and get a bluetooth earbud.. I have absolutely no problem with volume levels from my Jawbone; I'm hear clearly and I can hear them just find (even when driving with all windows down, it sounds like they are right next to me yelling)

Nope, it's you. OP was referring to the mic volume on the headset being low, but in filthykids response, he mentioned that the headphones that solved the quiet mic is also very loud on the earpieces.
Also having the same problem, BTW.
Hello Friends
I test the android rom MIUI and works perfect to my phone but i have one problem,
my mobile has an old problem with the earpiece and i must always wired headset to listen,
so, when i recieve a call, my mobile rings through the wired headset and i can not listen only if i unplugged them,
can someone please tell me if there is a solution;
if can ring trough the speaker?
The rings are by default the speaker playing it..
but what I understood that your speaker is damaged?
Of course if you speaker's phone damaged, then there must be another thing that you can hear the sound!!

sory for my english,
the back speaker is ok and works perfect!!!
I have problems with the earpiece of the mobile, i can listen from the back speaker, so I got connected wired headphones to listen always.
But when i recieve calls, the ringing tone is heard through wired headphones, not heard from the back speaker in mobile.
Is there a solution, to have the wired headphone plugged but to hear only the ringtone from the back speakers in mobile?
otherwise, I should have disconnected the headphones to listen the call, and when i recieve the call , plugged the headphones to be able to speak.
i search to settings but there is no function to do this.
This must a software do that, you may find an app to do that for you...
I think this is good example: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ioconcert.headset.ringtone.manager.demo&hl=en
Good luck
