Dell streak with gingerbread
Hi i am new here, been a silent reader for quite sometimes. Just bought my dell streak and update the os to froyo 2.2 unofficially but not rooted.
Just want to get some opinion form all the genius here... Do you think dell will upgrade the dell streak to gingerbread in a near future?
I am so intrigue by the effort of some of the developer here who spent so much time to make our dell streak better and better... I will not hesitate to try DJ Steve gingerbread ROM if it is available in a near future.

First, I want to thank you for all of your work you have down on Steakdroid Froyo. It's fantastic. i love it. I use it. As do most of the XDA streak community.
I've donated to you...and I hope more people will do the same because without a doubt...the streak would not be the phone/tablet it currently is without all of your hard work.
I would love to see Gingerbread ported to the streak. So this is a formal request for a Gingerstreak rom.
I most definitely will be donating to see a gingerbread rom running on our streaks.
I ask the Streak community to sound off on this post. Show your support for Steve and a gingerbread rom!

Haha...I hear you guys. I'm all for a working MIUI rom too. And I would definitely donate to see a working one. From what I've read on that post...it's far from being ready for everyday use. But one can hope!
I would be surprised if it isn't ported over by feb 2011..just need to be patient

I really do not think it is required to a ask djsteve to make a gingerbread rom. I am sure tjat he is aware how much gingerbread would be wanted. But the man has so much on his plate alrwady. Miui, cyanogen mod. He will make one eventually but there is no need to pester him.

+1 for the "Gingerstreak" Rom as well. Or a fully working Cyanogen. Thats awesome as well. That would be better then MIUI.
gingerbread will come but personally from playing with it on nexus one its NOT actually all that much different to froyo, theirs no spectacular new features or anything

Lol, Steve mate swype =crazy typing. I suffered from the swype too long. However the ginger one on your rom ain't too bad. But android is begging for a good keyboard.
Isn't the fancy keyboard. (I forget the name but it has fantastic algorithms) in gingerbread?

Would rather hear about a froyo source release for our phone than a official froyo release to be honest. Our devs do way better work with source than what samsung would release as official froyo. Look at the amazing work that noobl has done without source for froyo and we have an awesome dev that even has released work of an miui port (which I am most excited for coming from an htc incredible with a fully working port).

Samsung John, thank you so much for making a connection with the people at XDA and being less transparent with the end user. However even if you are coming out with an announcement, could we have at least an eta. After a while of hearing nothing but coming soon, something along the lines of coming in a month, 6 weeks, 2 weeks, whatever would be much appreciated with any announcement. I am not even talking about froyo, I am talking about anything in general. But again thank you for coming and creating this channel with XDA.

Wouldnt really matter for me even if it was, Ill take froyo from devs here over samsung/verizon anytime. (And considering we have froyo, it wouldnt be a huge announcement for us)
I think Samsug's reputation is already damaged, so releasing Froyo is not gonna change anything (unless they also release the source, but even then). If its gingerbread, ill kiss my dog.

Samsung will promise an announcement this week but we will not hear anything till the devs announce that they have taken our phones above and beyond what Samsung ever could.

Well the g1 doesn't count. First android phone. Its the grandfather of all. I think we would be quite. No real developers. I for one, will keep ny vibrant. Ill buy an upgrade when everything android related cools down. Im not spending $600 every few months for the new top phone.
