While assigning photos to various people I noticed that the quality was blurry, instead of hi-res like the source pic this is all the more so evident while using buddies now any suggestions or similar problems
Where are you adding these pictures from? Gmail through your PC browser or through the phone?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I sent them from a laptop to my email when I downloaded them to my vibrant they were nice and clear soon as I assigned them as a contact they got all blurry. Which is a problem for me,.... theses are the type of things that bring my inner OCD out
Yea, that's odd. Are the pictures blurry or just lost off detail? The images are scaled down and cropped when creating contact images, but it shouldn't be blurry.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Hmmmm I gotta say loss of detail kinda fuzzy def not as sharp as the original I know there are much more serious problems people have with the vibrant but this kind of thing bugs me to no end Especially coming from the hd2 I didn't have this problem(everything else sucked though) I see no reason the pics have to be scaled down in all respects this phone is a power house, if I want hi-res contacts gosh darn it I should have it
Well, this is not a Vibrant issue, just the way Android handles this. Try assigning the pictures via gmail.

Hi guys, sorry if a thread like this has already been started, but I looked and search results on xda returned no thread found, so I figure might as well start one. I'm an new poster here, so please be patient. Here are some pictures I've taken with my galaxy s (from t-mobile usa). I've also uploaded a video to vimeo (I think I'm the first one, again, all searches on vimeo show no sgs videos, since I think most if not all are uploaded to youtube). Anyways, the pictures and video are on my site dublew dublew dublew dot foscode dot com/samsung-galaxy-review , and hopefully admins won't block the link from appearing (this is not a spam site). In case they do block it, I'm trying to also upload the pics to this forum. Hope you enjoy the pics and videos.
Page Not Found. Korean Community of Cincinati page right?
thanks for trying to check it out on my site, not sure why it redirected to the other one I maintain, I do have both sites on the same server, but I never had this problem before. I just tried accessing the site from a co-workers' pc and foscode came up... Please try again when you have a chance, and thanks for the input.
Is there a chance someone could post pictures taken in low light or dark environment. Since there is no flash they most likely are not usable, but I would like to see what the phone can do. Cause every once in a while there is that moment when you need to take a picture of your buddy passed out drunk at the table in bar or on the street..
Here are some pictures taken at waverly hills sanitarium, louisville, ky.

just like all digital cameras
Thanks, it was fun testing it out there in the dark, didn't get to see any ghosts though. Here is a picture a shot almost at the same time when someone took theirs with a flash, I had part of my finger in front of the camera.

Wow....those pictures are really poor quality, I expected better from the camera?
Are they taken in low light?
Don't get me wrong I love the Galaxy, my wife has one.
The picture attached was taken with my Nexus.
Those pics were taken at an abandoned building, at night, with no lights, or flash. If you are not familiar, look up waverly hills sanatorium on google, it is a famous tuberculosis hospital that closed in the 1960's, now they offer tours. So, to answer your question, yes, there were no lights at all, just imagine an abandoned building, in the middle of the night, no lights and no flash, try using any digital camera under the same cinditions and you'll probably get the same results. Thanks for checking the pictures out though.

This is at iso 800 which will have alot of noise because the size of the sensor. Havin more pixels doesn't mean better low light pics.

This is my first post so I hope this is all by the books...
I am on my second day of using my Droid X, and I noticed whenever I set a contact picture it makes a copy alongside the original, in the original's folder. Hopefully you guys know what I'm saying. It is a pain in my butt to constantly go into my gallery and delete the copies. Can this be avoided?
I had a Droid, an Incredible, and now an X, and this is the first time in my life I've seen a phone do this.
If this had already been asked I apologize, I didn't see anything this specific.
I have a few other questions since this is the place with the experts, but this one is driving me nuts.
Thanks guys

I've noticed this too. Have no clue how to prevent it, but I don't see it as a huge deal.
I think the phone resizes it. Check to see if there the same size or not, or what the name of the new file is because it might correspond with the contacts name. I use Facebook for all of my contacts pictures
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
What it looks like it's doing is when you select an area of the picture to set as the contact picture, the area you select, it actually saves as a seperate picture. So your various picture folders are being populated with your pictures as well as the contact pictures. This seems strange and unnecessary as no Android device I've ever seen does this.

It also saves every text message you have ever exchanged with your contacts
Go to contacts then pick one and swype left, you'll se what I'm talking about

Looks like to me that it only saves the last 10 messages with the contact on my phone.

I'm making this as a new post in the general section for a reason. The Gingerblur thread is too crazy and moving too fast for a question like this and I'm also not even sure that this is Gingerblur related.
The problem I'm having is with my Contact information staying synced on the phone. It seems that no matter how many times I edit a contact, particularly the contacts photo that should be supplied by FaceBook, it won't stick. I am trying to get this to work correctly but haven't found a way to do it. I would like everyones contact information in my phone to be synced with facebook and pull their photos down from facebook and link to their profiles. It appears that this OS has everything required to do that but it's just not functioning correctly. Some of my contacts have the right facebook pictures, but a lot of them have none at all. I also have duplicate entries and some other anomolies as well.
Is there a setting I'm missing?
Sent from my Atrix using XDA App
I have this problem also. For example, Ill text someone and their picture won't show up in the text thread, even though the contact is synced with Facebook.

Yes that too. Or sometime the pics will.be there in the text thread itself but it wont be when you're looking at all the text threads. Really glitchy.

So I've been taking some photos with my new nexus and I've noticed that the gallery/camera display and read core incorrect dates and I don't know why. For some of the photosphere pictures, it recorded the right time but said it was UTC so in the gallery it subtracted 8 hours from it. In others it was fine. I found this most often in the GPS date. In others, it is missing almost all of the exif data and has a date of 00:00 12/8/2002. In ALL of the pictures the date digitized says 12/8/2002. In about half of my pictures the date taken is also 12/8/2002 but in others it has the correct date taken. But only 3 show up as 2002 in the gallery. Very inconsistent, random, and confusing. Is this a bug/known/etc? I remember something like this happening on the gnex where it would date pictures several days in the future and in UTC instead of regular time. Only my photo sphere pictures are affected by the UTC problem, and only some of them at that.
Anyone else with this issue? I've already tried clearing gallery cache and data. No luck. Pictures show up fine in instant upload.

I don't have an answer for you (sorry), but as someone who has been annoyed with the awful Gallery app for a long time, let me recommend using either PicFolio ($3) or Quickpic (free) instead. They both offer much more customization, including letting you order your photos and video by name instead of date. QuickPic is great if you keep your photos and video local, and PicFolio is great if you store them in Picasa/Google+.
It's harder to do with jelly bean because the gallery and camera app are one and the same. Or at least they're joined at the hip

I hear you. There's no way of getting rid of Gallery, but the apps I mentioned work seamlessly along with it. The Gallery app is lurking on my phone, but I never go into it.
I think it may have had something to do with me having no service and therefore no network provided time and time zone

Good point, it happened to me too, and I had no service too... I'll try to set time manually and see what happen with sphere photos
Idk why or if anyone else has this problem but I've searched and couldn't find anything. When I send entire screenshots to my friends they get "compressed" and display all pixelated. I don't know why. This happens btw in stock messaging app and hangouts. It also happens whether or not its through a hangouts chat or regular SMS.
Here are some examples. Cut so you can't see peoples names and numbers obviously.
1. Is the conversation with the sent screenshot.
1. Is the actually screenshot when view in the text.
1. Is the original unpixelated image. (How it should look)

Verizon's MMS messages are limited and or compressed by resolution and size. Hit and miss at times for me. Mine never look quite that bad or pixelated though.

I'm not sure. I don't have the pixelation problem and haven't since I used my super modded V3M Razr lol. Just occasional resize, but they always look fine.

It could well be your friends messaging apps.... I had the sort of problem with GoSMS and handecent before. Off server extra compressing. It could also be preview processing, try saving and looking at it. I never get such pixelation. I have noticed massive compression and resizing before though. That's ridiculous for such a tiny image.

Nope nope and nope. It looks compressed when I open and save it. It also looks compressed when they open and save it. Its regardless of make and model. Happens on android and iOS
